Zinairian Armed Forces

As one of the final stages of our refit, the Armed Forces will be acquiring combat engineering vehicles for use with the Zinairian Army. We are looking for several kinds of vehicles with varying requirements:

- Armored Recovery Vehicle
- Capable of towing a Nakíl MBT (aprox. 75 tons)
- Preferably based on the Nakíl chassis for ease of repair
- Light Armored Recovery Vehicle
- Capable of towing an Ironheart IFV (aprox. 15 tons)
- Preferably based on the Ironheart chassis
- Armored Bulldozer

- Bridge Laying Vehicle
- Deploys a bridge capable of supporting a Nakíl
- Capable of keeping up with Nakíls and other armored vehicles
- Preferably based on the Nakíl chassis

Should a company propose a design using the Nakíl chassis, we have 10,000 in storage that can be used by that company provided they discount us the cost of procuring the chassis (i.e. the amount they saved by having it provided free by the Zinairian government).

OOC: Mac seems to be AWOL (probably on vacation or something), so I'm going to see if anyone else has a suitable design.

Message to the Zinairian Armed Forces

Salutations,

We at DCR became aware of your missive as it filtered through the Russkyan defence contractor network at the behest of the government. We believe that the ZAF could make the best use of off-the-shelf equipment in the form of the Isselmere-Nielander L-21R Auroch Armoured Recovery Vehicle, capable of recovering the Kodiak MBT, which matches the Nakil in weight. The L-21R (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8068944&postcount=8) is provided by Isselmere Motor Works: Land Defence Systems (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=391319).

This can of course be supplemented by the L-21B Buffalo Armoured Vehicle Launched Bridge. It is believed that the L-21R and L-21B can fulfill the ZAF's first and fourth tender requirements.
The L-15 Badger Infantry Fighting Vehicle family includes the L-15AR Recovery Vehicle (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8068911&postcount=5), with a winch capable of moving seventy-six tons and a crane that can bear a fifteen ton load. This would fulfill the second tender.

Without more information, DCR cannot recommend any equipment to fulfill the third tender, that of armoured bulldozer. Any number of Armoured Engineering Vehicles (L-15 or L-21 series) could meet this requirement. However, the L-31 Mammoth (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10262014&postcount=202) is a highly capable vehicle that provides armoured bulldozer capability.

Finally, given sufficient time and interest from the ZAF, there are a number of Russkyan firms that would be able to fulfill your requirements using available Nakil chassis. It is in the role of an advertiser that DCR has contacted you today. We thank you for your time.

Though you may find this an odd suggestion, you already seem to have the design you desire to meet your armed forces needs. Why not just convert the 10,000 Nakíl chassis or however many you needed. This would reduce your overhead and base your designs on a single vehicle chassis thereby minimizing your maintenance and supply requirements. As our nation has a long history in building and more to the point converting different military systems into new roles, our government would be more then willing to assist you in converting the desired equipment into it’s desired role cheaply and quickly, if of course you agreed.

Depending on the numbers were talking about, [if it's over 2500 vehicles that's better], I'm sure we can come to some agreement that is fair and provides you with a very capable design in as little as time as possible. While, our nation didn't submit any designs. If, you still wish to have us offer designs for possible consideration we will do so. But, in our opinion your first thought seems to us to be your best course of action.

We await your reply,

Sincerely, Chancellor Wolfgang Muller

Sequoia Marine & Heavy Tool Works official sales solicitation

Sir,

Our parent company Sequoia Defence Systems Inc. (SDS) has analysed the request for proposal issued by the Zinaire Military Authority (ZMA) and proposes as solution to develop and supply modification kits and production tooling for the Nakil and Ironheart vehicle families to produce the configurations as specified in the ZMAs request for proposal. To keep costs as low as possible we would seek to perform all remanufacturing of hulls and conversions using a local subcontractor such as Zinaire Motor Works (ZMW), with our wholly owned subsidiary Marine & Heavy Tool Works LLP acting as prime contractor and system integrator.

The basis of the conversion for the Nakil tank will be the M23 Hyena series of armoured engineering and recovery vehicles. The M23 Hyena is based on Sequoia-Allis Defence Services' M8 Burro recovery vehicle manufactured by in the Republic of Coorsota, which is adapted from the Lariat 1A2 tank hull. The Lariat main battle tank ultimately traces its origins to the Sumerian MCA-7C series, and our company can levarage the experience we have gained in Coorsota modifying foreign tank hulls to produce conversion kits for both the Nakil tank and Ironheart fighting vehicle.

To meet the stipulation for MLC80 (Military Load Class 80 Ton) performance, more powerful electric drives and reinforced steel construction will be used. The armoured recovery vehicle (ARV) kit for the Nakil 1A3 will entail replacement of the turret and upper deck of the tank with a new welded steel casement fighting compartment that is fully NBC-proof, a front full-width dozer blade, powerful 800 kilonewton double capstone winches to pull a MLC80 weight class vehicle, a tow hook and a 30 tons crane. The rear deck will have a cradle that can accommodate a complete Nakil power pack.

The armoured vehicle launched bridge (AVLB) will be simpler conversion as it will only require a swap of the turret with an automatic bridge launching and recovery mechanised and fitting of a front stabilising blade. A version of the 26 metre span Leguan bridge will be supplied manufactured in steel instead of aluminium to support the MLC80 load of a Nakil 1A3HA tank. This will result in a higher total weight in both classes of vehicle, but within the 75 ton weight limit specified in the RFP. Furthermore, the conversions fully retain the power pack, transmission, under armour APU, suspension and vehtronics of the Nakil 1A3 for full combat mobility. For improved under armour situational awareness the tanks will also be equipped with front and rear wide-angle driving cameras and laser-protected periscope sights on both the drivers hatch and commanders cupola.

For the final RFP request we propose to modify the Ironheart chassis to create a new armoured light recovery vehicle (ALRV). This will involve fitting of a dozer blade that also acts a trim vane during amphibious operations, and a small crane with 3 ton lift capacity. A field-expedient a-frame rig will also be able to be fitted to the dozer blade to allow it to two up to 15 tons.

First, we should make it clear that we will no longer be contracting with a third party for our light ARVs as, after further research, we have found that they are available directly from Lyran Arms.

We would suggest the arms manufacturer DeTal-Stevens as the local contractor as they have more experience in military work.

We are impressed by your bids for ALRVs and ARVs and, once we have a bid, we are prepared to hand you the contract. We may also be interested in the AEV you produce as replacement for a conventional armored bulldozer.
