Foreland Invites Settlers to Our Rich Lands
Foreland

People of the World, Foreland is a small Principality landlocked but with rich and fertile soil for farming. Now Foreland has generally been closed in the past but we feel it is time to open up our borders and our rich and unspoiled wilderness to those who seek a productive way of living. Those who are tired of the hustle and bustle of modern day metropolises and those who are looking for a centeral unspinned unpoliticized simple way of living. While of course Foreland has it's politics it's fairly unspoiled by modern media. Everyone is of course entitled to their opinions and is entitled to debate friendly with their neighbors and coleuges
about their opinions. Despite the rather kept in the old ways nature of the state Foreland's religious population is widely neutral in some of the heated topics today. The largely Episcopalian is central and doesn't seek to destroy anyone.
Foreland this peaceful principality can be yours for the enjoyment if you so desire to move. Farmers, Ranchers, Entrepreneurs, Celberties, Political Figures and Monarchs seeking refuge from the prying eyes of television media. Come enjoy the Peaceful Land of Foreland.
(Ooc: basically you can have any type of character come and move here. This is a general RP to help set me up in the world with out doing the obvious choices. So come on in and RP with me)

Well there's the main capital city which holds all the nations records and taxing and police and other matters. There is a Princely Home but they don't stay there often. The Royal Estate is on the outskirts of the capital.

OOC: I am doing this post from the viewpoint of the youngest family member here.
Kyale was the youngest member of the Varan family; having been one of the many Varans to walk upon Ixanian soil since the famous merchant once walked the earth in Medieval Ixania to sell his silks and other wares in the markets. Kyale had always been fascinated with the idea of settling in Foreland albeit she had problems with missing all the friends she made back at the village. It was at the village that her father signed the family up to emigrate to Foreland and it was him who got them all aboard a convoy of emigrants. Her father, Armin, was the suave farmer who always knew how and when to plant a certain crop while her mother, Synestra, usually relied on knitting simple but comfortable clothes for the children. Her older brother and only sibling, Valsamon, often helped the family out on the farm and was the boy of the village that girls dreamed of being with but he never really showed much interest in any of them even if Nature was kind to them. Kyale sighed as she looked around while Valsamon was busy talking to the parents about how the farm would be built and maintained. After a while, Synestra decided to speak to her daughter who she noticed was not really happy to be going to Foreland. "Kyale...what's wrong?"
"I don't want to go to Foreland. All my friends are back in Ixania. I didn't want to leave them." Kyale said unhappily while looking at the gentle countenance of her mother's face. Her mother was always known for her compassionate mind and her ardent faith in the Orthodox Church. Her husband was not as ardently into the Holy Bible as she was (since he was agnostic) but they still loved one another with so much passion that many villagers tried to emulate them in their own marriages. "Kyale...your father really wants us to make new lives for ourselves in Foreland. He knows that you pine for the village back home but he really thinks that we can prosper more in Foreland."
Kyale smiled while briefly looking upon the golden cross necklace that her mother wore around her neck with the Theotokos holding the child Jesus in a small picture that was in the middle of the cross. She had often seen that necklace around her mother's neck whenever she was at Church. When she was praying with her mother, she could see her mother in another world; a world where the Divine and Mortal aspects of the universe were merged into one. Kyale herself never knew if God actually listened to her mother's prayers or if anyone actually recieved them but she never doubted the fact that her mother was very in tune with the supernatural and that all she wanted from God was prosperity and safety. Her father, Armin, was an agnostic who attended church services out of respect for his wife but who did not know if there really was a God. Armin and Synestra found ways to bypass this difference.
"I guess I can accept life in Foreland....hopefully I can see my Ixanian friends one day so that I can tell them about my experiences." Kyale said with a smile. "I am sure Foreland has a mail service or something for people to keep in touch." Such words made Synestra smile as she patted her daughter on the head before seeing what looked like a depot for emigrants to gather. "We have arrived."

Armin stood tall as he looked over his surroundings with his eyes while his wife was busy making sure they had brought everything off the convoy of settlers. He hoped to find some way to get the family to the main city so they could take control of the land allotted to them by the government. While he contemplated his next actions, Valsamon and Kyale noticed a merchant in the distance who happened to be selling a horse and a cart. They rushed up to him with lightning speed and introduced themselves before saying:
"How much are you selling the horse and cart for?"

A hunched over man stood at the prow of a large cargo ship, wisps of smoke emanating from a cigarette in his hand. He lifted the burning cigarette to his mouth, breathed in deeply, coughing violently afterwards; the cigarette fell to the water due to the spasms, its burning embers petering out quickly. The man sighed, grabbing a handkerchief from his pocket and dabbing the blood his coughing had released. His eyes had a dull, weary gaze as he looked at the crystal-clear sea, revealing bitter disillusionment that had permeated his life as of late. But when he looked up, to the inviting, lush coastline ahead, his eyes looked just a little bit less tired. It was Foreland, a small, agrarian nation, unremarkable in many regards - but this man's new hope.
In Piccavia, he had been Jack Lucent, a young, free-spirited journalist, with out a care in the world, an idealist in every sense of the world. That Jack Lucent died months ago, in the prison camps and internment facilities ran by the increasingly nationalistic Commonwealth Party, a major participant in the ruling coalition government. He sighed wearily, his battered body aching with each breath. He desperately wanted off the ship, to be free, at last, of Piccavia.
His reverie was interrupted by a tap on the shoulder. Jack turned around to see a captain of the Piccavian Merchant Marine, who whispered to him, "Herr Lucent, we have arrived; please disembark quickly - I do not like to draw attention to the fact I am carrying a fugitive." Jack nodded and hurried down the gangway to an awaiting Forelanian official.

Word of Foreland’s recent shift from isolationism to openly inviting immigration did not go unnoticed in Errikland; historically, large (oddly consistent) segments of the Errikan population had taken up the settlers’ banner, from the original settlement by Errik’s people and their inland migration to the outward drive of the middle ages to the population of depopulated conquered territory (both continental and colonial). In fact, a famous historian once dryly commented that when Errikans weren’t fighting for their lives they were settling.
Though there had been dramatic social change since the middle ages—a statement which, unfortunately, does not necessarily go without saying in this world—it would seem that this statement still holds a degree of truth: thousands quickly flocked to the land of Foreland, living out the great Errikan tradition of settling new lands.

Armin got the horse going as he took the reins while his family sat in the cart while looking at the plains of Foreland as they waited to arrive in Capitol City so they could claim their plot of land and get their new lives started. They spent the time singing Ixanian folk songs and discussing their dreams and plans for their new lives before they finally got to Capitol City; immediately spotting the Farm Bureau. Walking into the building, Armin found the people in charge.

Armin drove his cart through the streets of the city while his family looked around from the cart while listening to Armin singing an old Ixanian folk tune as they got into the countryside of Foreland. The singing of the family patriarch echoed through the fields until they finally found their piece of land along with the acres they were entitled too. Amazingly they discovered that there was a furnished house made for them on the land and they immediately moved in with much enthusiasm. They were able to secure some farm animals for themselves and soon designated roles and jobs to each other on the land. Kyale was appointed to gather and take care of the sheep and take them on treks around the land as the miniature and pretty shepherd of the family. Dressed in a simple dress, Kyale led her sheep one day across the land until some sheep got lost. She immediately went on a trek to find her lost sheep and it took her a long time to find them but at last she found them on some plains. She ran up to them and began to gather them up but did not know that she had stumbled upon the Princely Estate. All she was thinking about was the sheep that she had to gather. While Kyale gathered the lost sheep, the other members of her family tended the fields. Valsamon and Armin were counting crops while Synestra made lemonade and snacks for the two hard working and rugged men in her life and admittingly she stared at the shirtless Armin with a lustful gaze. Sure, she was pious and devout, but not even she could withstand lusting for the man she loved. After a while of sorting out the crops, Armin went inside with Synestra while Valsamon merely smirked and looked around the family farm. They all assumed Kyale was out for a walk although Synestra was worried about her special little girl. Armin and Synestra resigned themselves to the bed for a make out session while Valsamon fed the animals. Kyale, meanwhile, was studying her surroudings until she discovered that people were coming towards her. Standing nervously, she looked at them and hoped that she would not be harmed.

"I think I should get back home now before my family worries about me." Kyale said before she began to walk away from the man with her sheep.
A large Kiravian passenger ship neared Foreland's port. It was carrying just under eight thousand Kiravians who were seeking to settle in Foreland.
There was much excitment on deck, with families hurrying to bring about their baggage and collect their children before disembarking. Scores of different Coscivian languages could be heard, from monotonous Insdex to singsong Iyaran.
Most of the settlers came from traditionally agrarian Coscivic ethnic groups, like the High Gërev, Englev, Ieurlev, and Saskev, among others. But all had indeed come to farm, whether their ethnicity dictated so or not. They were part of the Kiravic Overseas Settlement Program, operated by the Overseas Kiravians Office. It was designed as an initiative to set up settlements and expatriate populations in other countries. So far, Kiravian populations had been inserted into Tomarian, Greston, and a few other countries.
While the majority of the new arrivals were jubilant as they came closer to their new homes, some were all buisness. Among them was Samuel Bodæcur. He was the leader of a syndicate of Englev farmers who had left Midwestern Kirav for Foreland. The heads of the other households in his group were standing in a semicircle in front of him as he gave directions.
"I assume all of you have already prepared your baggage for arrival as I instructed last night, correct?"
They nodded.
"Good. We shall all stay together on the dock until we find out where to apply for immigration and to get land. We'll hold a tribunal on where to set up our farms once we see what's available. Clear?"
They nodded. Again.
The ship made port, and the gangway was extended. Bodæcur's was the third group to get off, a lucky number in Kiravic culture. They saw they man advertising immigration approval, surrounded by a cluster of other Kiravians, and then made their way towards him. After the rest of the immigrants recieved their visas and left, Bodæcur approached him.
"Good morning, Sèr. My name's Samuel Bodæcur."
"Alexa Bodæcur," said his wife.
"Dän Bodæcur," said his eldest son.
The rest of the Englev stated their names to the official, and passed their visas up to the front for approval.

Kyale had designated herself the inspector of crops during her first days on the farm that her family had settled on after successfully obtaining citizenship in Foreland. She would usually go out to inspect the crops every morning and make sure that there was no problems with them lest she run around rampant while yelling for her parents to come out and correct the problem. Kyale, one day, decided to go for a ride on a horse around the plains after the morning inspection. Mounting her favorite horse which was a rather strong and agile grey steed, Kyale rode across the plains as the wind blew against her hair while the horse galloped across the trail. She could see the empty and barren looking fields and the small hills that dotted the landscape. Eventually she halted her horse and dismounted to look around as she fed her horse a spare carrot that she had in her pouch. She petted him for a while and then decided to relax by leaning, on her back, on a nearby tree while the horse was tied up to it so he could not run away and leave Kyale all alone. Kyale took a swig from her flask of water and then looked around to see no one else around. She was all alone here. She smiled and just relaxed.

I doubt that you are indeed the Prince of Foreland since I don't have any evidence that you are who you say you are. If you can show me that evidence then I may end up believing you and end up calling you Your Highness instead of Brian. Kyale beckoned Brian onto her horse and smiled. "I would ride horses all the time back in my old farm when I used to live in Ixania where I was born and raised for the majority of my life until we moved here to Foreland. Kyale rode with Brian across the plains towards the family farm where her family happened to be resting after a good day of work with the crops and animals. The family was examining the crops since Kyale wasn't there to do so like she usually did. When they noticed her horse coming towards them at a steady speed, Valsamon waved to Kyale and ran to help her slow down but his eyes soon caught a glimpse of Brian behind her which made him suspect something was up between the two although he decided not to pressure either of them to talk about it. "It's nice to see you again, Kyale...but who is this boy you've brought with you?"
Kyale proudly spoke before the gathered crowd before her and with a smile upon her face pushed Brian forward. "....This is His Highness, Prince Brian of Foreland, who I met days ago when our sheep stumbled upon his land as I sought after them....."
The family didn't look too amazed and it was Valsamon who replied. "...It is entirely possible that this boy may be the Prince of Foreland but until sufficient proof is shown to us that he is indeed who you call him...I cannot believe it."
Kyale nudged Brian and whispered softly into his ear with a smile: "...Show them the crest, Brian...show them the crest...."

Valsamon smirked. "....That's because not everyone can be trusted, Your Highness. That's why many people don't take anyone's words as truth unless they are proven to be so."
Kyale's father nodded his head as he took Kyale's horse into the stable. "....My eldest child speaks the truth, Your Highness, and I am sure that we will get some good money for the wool of our sheep; I'm just hopeful we can live good lives here."
Kyale walked with Brian towards the farmhouse while Kyale's mother spoke with Valsamon in the Ixanian language as they continued to examine the crops. The farmhouse was a medium sized building which was more than comfortable and adorned with all sorts of trinkets and portraits while a little bit of stairs led to Kyale's room. Kyale showed Brian around and told him about all the things they could see including some family portraits before they ended up in her brightly colored bedroom which had even more trinkets, though these were all her property, as well as a little diary and a desk at which she could write. The bed was clean and made while a window allowed Kyale to see nature unfold from the comfort of her bedroom. "Feel free to look around, Brian. I'm sure that you will find something to your liking."
Kyale smiled as she put the diary away in the drawer before watching Brian examine everything; she decided, then, to allow him to just look around while she sorted some things out. "...This is where I sleep, Brian. It may not be like a palace bedroom but I like it anyways."

Kyale smiled as she went through some photographs in the large album that she had on the desk with all the pictures being dated and sorted into groups with exquisite handwriting upon the backs. The album had golden writing on the front and the words were in the Ixanian language but it was not that hard to guess its purpose. "I took a lot of pictures back in Ixania and I've taken some here. Some of my pictures are of me spending time with my friends."
She took out one of them gently and showed it to her newfound friend. "Here's me with some of my friends back in Ixania; we were simply enjoying the countryside together that day since our farms were relatively close and we didn't have to go that far to get to see one another; I can still remember those days well.....I hope I can see them all again. Anywho, would you like something to eat or drink?"
"Your plots are located in rural cental Foreland. About 600 acers for your use. It's about an hour outside the city but there is a small town nearby."
"Excellent. Thank you for your help."
Bodæcur called out to his syndicate in Englex, and they set out for a train that took them as close as it could to their plots. They walked the rest of the way.
The heads of households convened while children played on the virgin land that would soon become fields of living gold under the tender agrarian hands of the Englev. The teenage boys began games of fieldball, while the girls gossiped in the shade of the scattered trees.
After a few hours of voting and deliberation, the plots of land had been assigned, and a rough timeline for the construction of a church, school, and administrative office was drawn up. The party disperesed somewhat, as families wandered off to their own properties. Women started fires and began to cook, while men pitched tents for the night. The Kiravians would begin building their homes in the next few days, after they had settled in properly and surveyed their private domains.
OOC: Foreland, could you tell me a bit about your nation, i.e. the status of language, education, religion. To what degree would the Kiravians be left to their own devices? Also, how would the neighboring 'native', if you will, Forelanders feel about the tall, pallid, Coscivian-speaking newcomers?

The first day had dawned since the Englev had arrived. Most of them gathered ad Bodæcur's farm for a Senéhant , a community ritual that had been passed down through Englev society for centuries upon centuries.
Afterwards, the settlers dispersed, heading back to their homesteads. They spent hours wandering about their land, inspecting the soil, visualising where fields and fences would be placed, and enjoying the feeling of property and dominion that their ancestors had felt when they first settled in Coscivia thousands of years ago.
It was high noon, and most of the Kiravians were eating a lunch of a particularly crunchy bread peculiar to their people when Bodæcur's youngest son ran to each of the farms.
"Fer what d'ye come?" asked Paras Caracht, a particularly irritable yet benevolent farmer.
"Father says a Forelandic princess is callin' Chemrin's farm! He wants everyone to come!"
As the oy made his rounds, families began making their way down dirt paths towards Chemrin's farm. All were excited. They couldn't believe that a princess would ever come to them. Never had that happened since the Englev had lost their own nobility. Politicians often came to them, for votes of course, but royalty? It was unheard of.

Molly dressed in her Princess outfit dismounted her horse. "Greetings, welcome to Foreland, I'm Princess Molly."
Bodæcur extended his hand to Princess Molly, "It is an honour to meet ye, Yer Highness." [Englev, when speaking English, tend to have a Scottish/Irish accent]
"Yer coontry has been most hospitable to us durin' this time."

"I'm so happy. And my big Brother will too. He's the Prince of the country, but he's a bit tied so he asked me to welcome you on a good will. We are happy you have come to Foreland to settle on our rich farmland. We hope everything will be to your liking and you hard work will bring much prosperity to your selves and our country."
"As do we. Your country is rich and fertile. We can do very well here, which shall no doubt bring prosperity to this land."

At Kyale's farm she was picked up by the Royal Company.
"Miss, the Prince awaits at the palace."
Kyale's family was amazed to see that their little girl was going to be a guest at the palace of the Prince of Foreland which was an unexpected honor highly valued by these Ixanian immigrants. It was not every day that a commoner not only meets a prince in the attire of a peasant but also is able to visit that same prince's palace. Her parents and brother wished her well as she got into the carriage that pulled up in front of the farm house where she lived. With her camera in hand, Kyale looked out the window and smiled. Today would be an eventful and hopefully good day.

After the pleasent ride she arrived at the palace. "Welcome Madam, to Forelandic Palace."
Brian welcomed her. "Thank you for comming."

Kyale chose to wear a modest farm girl's dress for her visit to the Prince's palace and was pretty much still amazed that she was given a chance at all to visit it because she had never once been invited to the palace of a foreign prince who, she thought, could actually be a leader of Foreland if not the leader although, if Brian was literally the national leader, she would have been rather amazed. Not many nations would entrust full power and authority to a underage prince. She didn't focus on that though but rather focused on how fun it would be to see the palace. When she finally arrived, the first thing she did was take a picture of the palace. She looked so happy that she nearly ran into the palace at first only to show some restraint and calmly walk inside. When she noticed Brian, she curtseyed and smiled. "It's a pleasure to be here and to see you again. Look, I brought my camera! It's time for us to have a picture!"

"Great. There is also a State Photographer here as well." He paused with her for a moment as another photo was snapped of the two of them. "Come in, I'll give you the grand tour. Or we'll give you the grand tour. This is my sister Molly."
"It's nice to meet you." Molly said.

"It is nice to meet you, Molly, and I look forward to seeing a grand tour of this lovely palace. Let's go, Brian!"
Brian toured her through the Private Royal Family wing of the palace. "These are really designed for very large families, including the State Nobels. That's the reason the Palace Grounds are so massive."
"Sometimes it's like a small city. But hey, no better place to be during a twister than here." Molly joked.
"You see up there, that balcony, that's my room, Molly is right next to mine."
"We should do a sleepover sometime!" Molly exclaimed.
"Molly loves slumber parties." Brian said.
"I do."
"Moving on..."
They moved from the Private Family Grounds Grounds to the State Grounds. This is where the Forelandic Congress Meets. For six weeks every day, except Sundays and National Holidays, and every month. I sit there to oversee it, that is usually on the Last Day of Business, which is the time for voting."
"It's really dull...."
"But it's part of my duty, Molly. Go ahead take as many pictures as you want."
"Wonderful to hear. What can we provide for you that you need?"
"Your nation has already been generous enough to allow us to settle here. We wouldn't want to impose."

"Well very well, just let us know if you need assistance. We Forelanders pride our selves on our compassion for our neighbors. "I would also very much love to see how your land claims are prospering, if you would so kindly give me a tour."

"Aye. Right this way, Your Highness."
Molly followed in trail.
Bodæcur lead the Princess to Reamin's plot, the most developed thus far.
"Sèr Reamin is the most industrious man in the community He was born in Anglin, and worked on a prison farm for ten years before immigrating to Kirav, where he became a mechanic and a farm labourer," said Bodæcur.
Reamin came out from his house and bowed to Princess Molly.
"Your Majesty, it is an honour to have you on my humble farm."

"And it's an honour to be here."
"Come. See what we have built so far."
Reamin showed the Princess his half-constructed cabin, the temporary fence marking out his claim, and a lean-to storage shed.
"I also intend to, as things progress, build a subsistory mill along the stream, and homes for my farmhands."
