History:
The islands that comprise the Federation of Oseato were first colonized by the German Empire in 1885. They remained in German hands until WW1 serving as coaling station for German ships, and a base for the German army. Following German's defeat in WW1, the island was given to Great Britain by the Treaty of Versailles.
The Federation Of Oseato was born on the 20th of August, 1945. As WWII was drawing to a close, the British Empire was crumbling. The citizens of Oseato saw an opportunity for independence and took it. Oseato demanded independence from Britain and threatened armed rebellion if they refused to comply. The British, occupied with problems else where, in places like Egypt and India, granted the request in an effort to avoid being dragged into yet another conflict.
The modern day government of Oseato was brought to power by a coup on the 15th of July 2008. The military, tired of growing unrest and lack of action by the elected leaders of the country, stormed Oseato City declaring martial law and arresting most of the high ranking members of the executive branch. Currently, General Zackary Hamilton, the head of the Joint Chiefs, is President of the Oseaton Federation. Several other Joint Chiefs have been appointed to cabinet positions, such as the Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry. The Senate, the one house congress of Oseato, still is popularly elected and still holds some power, albeit much reduced. Under the military junta, the Oseaton economy has skyrocketed, bringing prosperity to much of the country.
