Well, I haven't been active on Jolt recently and I wanted to do an RP so...
This RP is about a crusade by the Empire against another nation. I was wondering if anyone would like to be the offending nation, and if any one would like to participate at all (siding with one of the nations, giving aid ETC). Well, heres the IC Opener:

IC: "These wretched creatures. They dwell in their dens of scum and villainy, worshiping false gods, rejecting and insulting the true god Kal!" The man, not an ordinator but an average man, paced in the main square in Karas. A huge crowd had gathered to watch the man, including a number of Ordinators and generals. "They break every code of living, every law of honor and respect! They are mongrels, barely even fit to be called life! These forsaken aliens sit in their homes, their very existence a sin! That sin is placed on all of us! Their blaspheming is an affront to Kal, and that must be punished! We must kill these heretics!" The entire crowd begun roaring its approval, even the generals.

The man was brought before the council, who cheered his impassioned pleas for a crusade. Within days, a huge force was assembled at the Tartarus gate. This crusaders force was emblazoned with a scorpion as opposed to the normal eye symbol. The fleet, designated 'Revenant 29', readied to jump into warp, heading for *nation* territory.

(OOC: Sounds good. I'm not in a position to be the offending nation though, i will jump in once the offender has given rise and join the fray. If that's alright with you of course.

OOC: Okay... one, I'll join if this one doesn't die like the others. Do you want to win? If so, I can't be the defender due to other threads I'm in.

OOC: Well the defenders (eg, not me) will win. Also, I'm sorry about the others but I only have my laptop at the moment while my computer is repaired, and the :soap: charger broke. I've bought a new one though.

Oh, and as a rather important note, this RP won't start for quite a while as I am going on holiday on Thursday. I may be able to start it, depending on whether the place has an internet cafe or WiFi, but even then I shan't be able to update much.

OOC: Meh, I'll participate then, just some basic details... I have control of about 3 systems and I have about 6 different races. So just gimme a while so I can get a good opening post in.

Ah, so that's what happened, no problem then. And I can wait, don't worry.

(OOC: Oh yes that's a good point, in fact that's handy for me (not Greywatch lol) since i'm going away on next Thursday.

P.S. Are you going to be on the winning side then Greywatch then? lol)

OOC: Yes, I do believe I'm going to be the ultimate "winner." I put that in quotes because I'll most likely still be taking heavy damage.

OOC: Yeah, we haven't got permission to win here now have we lol. And Void, you don't need an excuse to start shooting at me. I'll just wander onto the field of battle and start shooting at everything!!!

Per protocol aye Greywatch ;) You haven't re-educated anyone apart from Palleon yet lol. A simultanesou event going on on seperate sides of the galaxy... Will be interesting lol

OOC: That is if you're allowed to dictate how far away my systems are from the diplomatic meeting. Though, yes, they are far away, the Drone is like having a news camera. The Greywatch council (government) know everything that's going on.

OO: It wouldn't matter would it? Both of us have near simultaneous communications abilities. And who knows, maybe one of the Drones in this could be one linked to the one talking to Palleon.

Out of curiosity Greywatch, why does a sophisticated powerful race such as yourself ONLY have 9 solar systems?

OOC: nine? Three. I have three systems under my full control. This essentially means, the system itself is apart of Greywatch alone. The other races native to these systems have decided to join the Empire of Greywatch. I have a few other systems, but they are either shared or Greywatch hasn't gone about fully colonizing them yet. Plus, my race(s) [while expansionist in nature] doesn't devote a lot of time to finding new worlds. They more like to build up the ones they have before exapanding. Thing about it, with all the tech I have, if its defending three systems instead of, say, twenty, that means anyone attacking me is essentially looking down the barrel of a shotgun.

Roughly the same thing for the Void. We've got about five systems under it's command, but since two are located in a hollow sphere of asteroids with the only entrance being a fortress world and one inside the Void, the only one in any real danger is the colony system.
But we're working on it.

Yes that sounds like a good strategy... for my people it's just have all your forces at the edge patrolling like mad. Theempire is more or less centrally planned so they can organise it all. Of course, once you've broken through one sector you've got the all clear nearly.

I like to think of it this way. I as a person, am Greywatch. The shotgun is my defensive tech (orbital anti-spacial assault cannons, anti-orbtial suface cannons, ships, etc). Now do I want to defend a circle 20 feet in diameter or three feet in diameter. The latter doesn't require all the running around so I'll rather go with it.

That is true... but i like the running around. Keeps things going. I have enough ships to do it so why not? I don't have nay orbital weapons though. As far as Ciscilian technology is concerned the ability of slipspace drives allows me to jump straight past it so theres no point in building them...

OOC: I'll join this as mercenaries for either or both sides. Wherever the profit is greatest, that's where we'll be. :)

Be careful, my orbital weapons can turn around in order to destroy land forces (not typically an approved action). And I have surface based anti-orbital cannons so even if you get past, one, you have another to worry about. I planned out my defenses very well when I decided to play FT.

I'm semi making it up, although i've got a good foundation in my head. In any case, yes that's a good thing for the orbital weapons. But they were generally pointless for my race so we didn't build them. Simply history lesson.

In any case, with regard to slip-stream shortcuts i have to be careful when i do it. If the gravity of a nearby planet isn't calculated right it could get very messy... especially if you're exiting near one lol

Yeah, but with me the damage is personal. With you the damage is to anyone stupid enough to get close lol.

Perhaps you should build ships that use the drive itself as a weapon? Jump next to a weapons platform and BANG! there it goes into the atmosphere....

Uh... well the initial use of PSR was as a weapon. Open a rift above an enemy army or inside a group of ships and watch as they were torn to pieces and/or pulled in and crush. And with the ships, its very personal, if they pull out close to a large object whilest exiting PSR, you have a collision and this thing being crushed around you, pushing you back into the rift (which shouldn't typically happen), etc...

Why not use it?
