OOC: Welcome to Striving For Humanity, an open ended rp where monsters are an everyday occurance in the year 2027, and only the few who fight are able to keep the remaining humans from being destroyed. Current affected areas: All of Central and South America, Africa from South Africa to Kenya and Gabon, Yemen and Oman, Australia and New Zealand, Most of South East Asia.

In the year 2012, a meteor struck in the Yucatán Peninsula. Though it didn’t seem like a significant event at the time, humanity felt itself tremble four days after. Giant creatures spawned from the peninsula, and in a matter of weeks, all of Central and South America succumbed to the destruction.

15 years later, these creatures are constantly threatening civilization and slowly spreading. Despite the constant looming threat, governments world wide have been unable to join together in a compromise. In response, military leaders have formed their own U.N. branch, the only Earth organization equipped to handle such threats, the World Reconnisance of Humanitarian Defense (WRHD), a special police force with branches all over the world, and equipped with high-tech weapons and vehicles, as well as extensive scientific and engineering facilities.

Will they save Humanity?

June 13, 2027
Morgan City, Louisiana
2:05 P.M.

A normal evening in Louisiana was considered as a blessing this day in age, especially with what events were occurring around the world on a daily basis. All of that would change within a small amount of time however…

30 miles into the Gulf of Mexico

“We’re just within the safe zone, cast the anchor down and throw down the net!”
The shipmates confirmed, “Aye Captain.” Fish was something precious to the people who lived along the sea. If there was no meat on land, there was almost no other option. Despite this, the U.S. government would only let its people go out to sea so far. Not expecting to be facing any danger, the ships were ready to capture all of the fish they could.
The net reached the bottom…
“Raise the net!”
“Here we go!” The shipmates raised the net at first feeling the weight of several fish… Then something was caught…
“AH! Captain! The net’s being weighed down!”
”What? We’re not capturing that much!” Such would normally be the case… Were it not for the special catch they made.
The net began tipping the ship forward…
“Captain! It looks like our catch is dragging us along!”
”That much fish? Keep cranking them up! We can’t afford to miss this much!”
Tried as they would, the crew continued to crank up their catch with the problem of weight. Eventually, that was not the case…
The crew stopped cranking up the fish to gaze at their catch to see something more than unusual. “Oh my… Captain! We’ve got something snagged in the net!”
”Snagged? What the hell kind of… Oh dear god…” A giant red claw was caught in the net and continued to drag the ship along as if towards land. Eventually, the claw plunged the ship beneath the water and all who were on board began to struggle in hopes to survive. Meanwhile, the possessor of the red claw continued to move forward.

2:45 p.m.

All were in awe at what they saw. Every citizen who thought they were safe from such threats were now no longer safe… The giant lobster-like creature (http://www.cybergecko.com/kaiju/lobstero.jpg) made its way towards the city and was now standing tall among even the tallest buildings…

A large convoy of 35 vehicles rolled down the road, towards all the comotion off the coast that had been reported. They were the Cuban special forces. Well they weren't cuban anymore, the Cubans no longer controlled them. They were a very diverse group of people. From North America, all the way to Asia. They came from over 50 different countries. All came for one reason. To kill whatever this threat was. When they had arrived at the coast, they could see in the distance, the large monster directing the boat, move forward.

About 2 miles away from the town a lone jeep sat all alone. Though this wasn't a normal jeep, it had been modified a great deal, extra armor and bullet-proof windows. Inside were four men a several weapons, one of the men was fiddling around with a radio. "Outpost, outpost. Do you copy? We have a contact, do you copy?" A voice came crackling in, "We hear ya. Describe contact." The man looked up, "Giant lobster." There was a pause before the voice came back, "Most likely a resistant exo-skeleton. Use explosives. You should have a compound missile launcher turret in the back, load sniper rifles with AP rounds. Load normal weapons with explosive rounds, if you need to come back to base and we'll provide you with some DU." The man nodded to the others, "Copy that, moving in to engage." The jeep sped off, none of the men said a word, this was going to be interesting.

All of the men drove towards the giant lobster. Two men stepped out of the sun roof on the top of each vehicle, RPG's in hands, and got ready to shoot once command gave them the order.

The lobster creature was walking closer and closer towards the city when the people preparing to attack it came. Its instinct was to find a land nest, but the buildings that were in front of it were in the way of that happening. There was only one instinct the creature knew then, make room. Its claw moved towards one building and toppled towards the other in reaction. It proceeded to mover the remaining rubble around for desires of a larger beach.

The people were not pleased to see the monster destroying their city being invaded, but there was no time for venting anger, only for running for their lives. As they ran, people screamed and struggled in hopes of finding safety from the giant crustacean. Hopefully someone would come to help them before Morgan City was leveled to the ground...

With that the jeep swung around once it had gotten close enough. Two men jumped out and quickly set up the missile turret, eight shots... that's what they had in the thing and it had to last. The targeted the creature's body, deeming it the easiest thing to hit and fired off two missiles.

The large convoy stopped about 250 yards away from the monster. They began firing their RPG's, they noticed several other forces firing things at the monster too.

With that the jeep swung around once it had gotten close enough. Two men jumped out and quickly set up the missile turret, eight shots... that's what they had in the thing and it had to last. The targeted the creature's body, deeming it the easiest thing to hit and fired off two missiles.

The large convoy stopped about 250 yards away from the monster. They began firing their RPG's, they noticed several other forces firing things at the monster too.

The creature paid no heed to the humans below it as it continued to search for space. That changed though when one of the missles hit its outer shell. The creature was brought off balance and fell on its left side just barely dodging the second missle. As soon as it fell, the area shook with the impact. The creature began to recuperate and saw the source of the missles. There was only one thing it could do, struggle for its survival. The creature began to stand on its feet again and began stomping towards the jeep. As soon as it stopped moving, the creature lifted up its claw and smashed it into the ground, causing a heavy tremor for all in the area.

The vehicles shook violently, some began to topple over, and some of the RPG"S were being fired in random directions.

"Shit, status report?" yelled an officer.

"I don't know, we have to get out of here! Something bad could happen!" yelled a random soldier.

The convoy began to ride away when their engines failed.

As soon as the creature hit the ground the team shot off another missile, when the creature stood back up one man offloaded the rest of the payload. Some of the missiles went for the legs, the others were aimed at the head. The other men grabbed the weapons they could out of the back of the Jeep before it was stomped into the ground. They scattered and headed for cover with their weapons, one of them got on his radio, "Base! Get two Dragonflies out here immediately! We need serious support!" He yelled. The others took their weapons and started getting into positions that would be good to fire off some rounds from. These men had dealt with these monsters before and despite their running they were able to keep most of their balance. Stll, such force would make it difficult to engage such an enemy at full potential, hence the air support.

The soldiers took out M67A2 75 Cal. rifles and began to fire at the monster. These pierced its skin, and they noticed that it was working. The monster began to work its way, slowly toward them, until they saw two dragonflies headed toward it.

OOC: Oi! Only I control the Dragonflies.

The men took some good positions, legs would be best, bring the thing down and then eliminate it. They began coordinating carefully and then began firing their explosive rounds at the beasts joints, all of them made sure to aim for the same joint. After firing about two to three rounds they would move away quickly, avoiding the temptation of entering structures as they would crumble too easily. Instead they would move out of sight and then occassionally, while the creature seemed to be distracted, move to another location before repeating the process. One of the soldiers spoke over his radio, "Alright people! Dragonflies are 5 minutes out, get ready!"

IC: As the creature took in more damage, it began to stomp around more in a fit of rage. The earth shook and the city was about to go under some heavy damage.

OOC: No problem, just had to throw that out there.
IC:

"Shit," screemed one of the soldiers, "That thing is pissed! We can't hold this position!" The soldiers began to scatter, one of them was crushed when part of a building collasped on him. The two Dragonflies saw the creature from quite a distance away. The pilot of the lead Dragonfly looked at his co-pilot and gunner in the back, "Get weapons ready as soon as we get in range. Got it?" His co-pilot got the radio, Dragonfly Beta, hold here for now. We'll procede. Have weapons ready." The lead Dragonfly went on ahead and prepped missile lauchers and twin gatling cannons for work." The Dragonfly made sure to fly out of the creatures range and did not fire yet, it back away and looked for a weak spot, making syre that it didn't upset the monstrosity any more. The pilot looked at his gunner once more, "Keep those things ready, we're staying out of range for now, don't fire. I'm going to keep us away from that thing for the moment." The gunner nodded.

Having dispersed a good deal of the pests trying to destroy it, the creature saw itself in a safe area. It managed to see one of the dragonflies, but little knowledge of it led the crustacean to heed it as a simple speck. The giant turned around and continued to make room for itself amid the debris it caused.

"It's turned around." The pilot said to the gunner, "Ready all missile bays and open fire with gatling cannons!" The Dragonfly sped forward with a great amount of speed, eight missiles from the left wing missile bay were fired at the creature's head, these ones were able to pack a much bigger punch than the one's before. The gatling cannons opened up on the area the missiles would hit. Not waiting to survey the damage the pilot kept moving and pulled up to get out of range of any retaliation. "Let's hope we did something."

Once again, the crustacaen felt a loud banging pains. The missles hit the back of its head and tried to remain standing, but once again fell face down. The ground shook again and the creature bellowed a roar. After a moment, it began to stand up again and began to make its escape into the sea. It wasn't sure where the missles came from, and simply resorted to flailing its claws in the air if any more should come. It was only a few feet away from the sea and was only hopeful to make its escape.

The lead Dragonfly quickly contacted the second, "Alright, move forward and hit that thing. Stay out of range, just fire off a few missiles. If it dies we're all good, if it escapes we'll have to make sure it stays away." The second Dragonfly moved a little closer but followed orders and kept out of range. Two missiles were fired and it immediately raised altitude before firing two more. Both missiles were headed for the same spot, the other Dragonfly fired three missiles at the creatures head. It was obvious that some new weapons were going to have to be brought out if they wanted to make sure these monsters died. That would be saved for later though, both Dragonflies were now concentrated on retreating, they were at a good altitude and pulled back over the city. The three reamining men on the ground cheered as they watched the beast flee. Hopefully they'd be able to go home and get some better weapons... and a new car.

The creature continued to make its way away from the city in hopes of escaping, only to find itself at the mercy of even more missles. In its favor, its flailing claw took the damage from one ralley of missles and caused it to fly off. The second one was coming quick and the lobster fell down on its belly and began to crawl into the ocean. It's body took the damage intended for its head and the monster began to bleed heavily in its trip into the sea. The creature wasn't dead and still struggling to escape, but would likely die if anything else said otherwise.

Both Dragonflies took their chances and began hammering the creature with their gatling cannons until they were out of ammunition. Hopefully that was enough, but they fired two more missiles each, just to make sure. Chances were if there was one, there were many more. Not something humanity needed.

The monster was just a mile away from the city now, but crawling for life would now be futile. The gatling guns and missles that came to destroy it had made contact. With that, the bangs caused the crustacean to roar in pain. Afterwards gave out its final struggles of life. It moved a few yards before it finally fell over and its eyes began to close. The lobster creature was dead and its blood was now seeping into the water before the city with the mark of the creature left by the destruction...

After the creature went down several messages went back and forth between the Dragonflies and the outpost. A cleanup crew was called in and some transport was called in for the last three men. It was best they get out before people began asking who they were. Body armor and heavy weapons weren't exactly good for blending in.

The death of the lobster monster was now an assurant sign that thedestruction was over for now. It was also a tragic sight to see so many buildings of the city destroyed, but the people had the heroes from the WRHD to thank for the defeat of the monster, though no one would likley have a chance to thank them. There were still city people who dared to venture towards the rubble and find their belongings and loved ones. Amidst the rubble, there was one man who searched among the rubble and was able to find the WRHD soldier crushed during the ground assault. Most likely dead, the man didn't bother trying to free him and searched around for others like who he just found...

It wasn't exactly a perfect day for the soldiers, they'd lost one of their own in the attack. Casualties were the last thing they needed in this war. One of them radioed in one casualty and recieved word of air transport coming. He made sure they knew to bring a body bag as well. As for the populace, it would be best if they knew as little as possible.
