MILEX ’08: Stanzertal

This year, MILEX 2008, an internationally renowned series of military exercises, will be taking place in the Stanzertal in Van Luxemburg. A total of 7 extra nations are welcome to participate in MILEX ’08. They can bring brigade-sized forces, with a maximum of 5000 troops. This does not include logistical forces, as the logistical transports inside the mountain valley will be done by the front-line troops themselves. Air support will be given by Van Luxemburger and Russkyan air force units. Helicopters must be supplied by the nations themselves.

The Scenario
2008. Van Luxemburg has been invaded by hostile units, OPFOR. The sole remnant of the former Van Luxemburger might is the Stanzertal, in which the current Van Luxemburger government resides to lead the country. The Grand Duke has fled to his local residence, together with several important persons of the Van Luxemburger Arméi. This mountain valley is protected by units of the 3. Schweizerwuecht, a highly experienced, highly mobile mountain unit stationed in Zell an der Stans. Several remnants of the Reebouwuecht protect important objects, such as the Grand-Ducal residence, and the governmental bunkers. These units are assisted by several military units from friendly nations, making use of the somewhat aged defence lines built in the Stanzertal from 1895-1989. The OPFOR, meanwhile, is trying to invade the Stanzertal with their units, in an attempt to capture the Grand-Ducal Residence and the Governmental Bunkers, as well as the Military Command Center hidden underground inside the mountain valley.

So, a short summary of the each sides’ mission:

VL-Friendlies
- Protect the Stanzertal from enemy attacks, and make sure that the important objects (Grand-Ducal Residence, Governmental Bunkers, Military Command Center) remain in your hands.
- Succesfully drive OPFOR away from the Stanzertal with limited air support (as there is only one, relatively small airport available for military operations.)

OPFOR

- Invade the Stanzertal in a combined arms assault, with limited air support (as air defence is particularly heavy due to the defensive construction of the mountain valley.)
- Capture the important objects (Grand-Ducal Residence, Governmental Bunkers, Military Command Center) in the Stanzertal.

About the Stanzertal

The Stanzertal, a quiet mountain valley near the Patscherkofel (the highest mountain in the Lëtzebuerger Alpen, and indeed, in Van Luxemburg), has always been of particular interest to the Van Luxemburg military. In 1678, the Arméi already decided on the construction of a Fortress that would limit access to the strategically-placed valley, and in 1895, construction of an expansive trench network was begun, not only to provide work to the local inhabitants, but also to make the valley the official ‘second Van Luxemburger capital’, in times of need. The defences in the Stanzertal were further expanded in the years 1914-1919, 1936-1947, 1960-1965, and were completely modernised in 1986, just to be put on reserve a few years later. Nowadays, parts of the defence lines are missing, or on the brink of collapse, but some of the defensive positions are in excellent shape and even have been equipped with 90mm anti-tank guns or 90mm radar-guided anti-air guns. Next to this, several air defence positions with guided AA missiles have been positioned across the valley.

The Stanzertal itself is a beautiful environment, in which farming and mining (Quarries) are the most important forms of work. Several IT companies have set up shop in the area, attracting highly-skilled computer specialists to the area, who have taken up the job of renovating century-old farmhouses, that offer beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, and the Stans river that eventually ends up in the Winklersee. The most important town in the 50 km-long and 5 km-wide Stanzertal is Zell an der Stans, a small city with around 25,000 inhabitants. It lies on the Stans river, and is known for it’s medieval belltower, that stands on an island in the river. Some 2 kms upstream is the Winklersee. On a hilltop nearby lies the Grand-Ducal Residence Burg Rickenbach, just on the other side of the lake, the Winklersee. On the same side as Burg Rickenbach lies Winklen, a picturesque town that hosts a factory that makes eau-de-source water from the Winklersee it’s most important water source, the Rickenbach (after which the castle of the Grand Duke is named, obviously). Winklen is also the place where the Governmental Bunkers are located, even though most of these are buried deep underground.

Transportation to and from the Stanzertal might be somewhat complicated: there is only one way into the valley, and with the mountain sides being heavily forested, this passage is particularly narrow. All towns are connected by a regional road, the R2371, and the conection from Zell ad Stans to the outside world is guaranteed by a substandard motorway (Gelbe Autobahn), the B562. A local rail line connects all villages with a maximum speed of 60 km/h. Next to this, a small grass airstrip is located near Zell a/d Stans, and a military airbase is located 7 kms past Winklen, on the end of the Stanzertal.

Outside the Stanzertal, there are two major airports for OPFOR use. One of these is the military airbase of Egethof, near to the Stanzertal (a 5 minute flight to the entrance of the Stanzertal). The other airport is Venezia-Gilberto Monteluci International Airport, some 1000 kms away from the scene of the battle, but allows landing and take-off for paratroop aircraft, and other heavy aircraft. OPFOR troops and Van Luxemburger Friendlies participating in these wargames can unload their ships in Gutenburg, 400 km from Egethof, and 450 km to the entrance to the Stanzertal.

Please note the following rules are in effect during MILEX ’08:

- No nuclear weapons
- No mass-bombardments
- A maximum number of 5000 troops (excluding logistics) per nation
- A maximum of 2 nations extra for VL Friendlies, a maximum of 3 nations extra for OPFOR.
- Air support (excluding helicopters) to be supplied by Van Luxemburg and OPFOR Commander
- We advise to go easy on the amount of MBT’s and other heavy vehicles. The many narrow and sometimes mountainous roads might prove to be a bridge too far for these vehicles, or lead to the collapse of these roads, rendering them useless for further transportations.
- Troops inside the Stanzertal will have to provide their own logistics. So: There are no logistical troops allowed inside the valley! This applies to both VL-Friendlies and OPFOR troops. VL-Friendlies can take these supplies with them inside their defensive works and store them inside the Stanzertal, but OPFOR troops will have to take their supplies from the entrance of the valley with them into battle.
- Artillery and MRLS is allowed, if non-nuclear. Cruise missiles are prohibited.
- Boats can be used in the Winklersee and the river Stans. Smaller streams can usually be crossed by bridges, or are shallow enough to walk or drive through.

The current weather forecast for the coming days:

Sunny, 25 degrees Celsius, and no chance of rain on the first day. In the days to follow, thunderstorms will be moving into the area as a result of the good weather in the last few days. The first few rains will be particularly heavy, but this will settle after a few hours and change in a cloudy, but dry situation. Temperatures will then be around 20 degrees Celsius.

(OOC: This time a MILEX from the new Van Luxemburg. A detailed map is supplied, but if there is anything unclear to you, I’ll be glad to clarify things. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. If you want to join, please RP as so, and include your ORBAT, even if it just includes the basic amount of vehicles. I’m hoping to make this a fairly small-scale battle, so please no nuclear missiles, strategic mass bombardments or cruise missile storms, if you know what I mean. Second, this is aimed at having fun, so no huge arguments about techwanks and in-depth discussions about the pros and cons of certain technologies. If anything like this breaks out, the OPFOR commander and I will work together to solve these problems. This is MT. No godmoding, and pay some attention to realism, please. Even if your enemy has worse weaponry, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t stand a chance. Anyways, have fun!)

Total:
’21. Regiment ‘Alpenwächter’’ (3275)
The Alpenwächter battalion is, like most units, from the region of Weiningen, in which these exercises will take place. Even though they are regular units and have been equipped with heavy vehicles (such as the MT-38 Holzwollef MBT, a domestically-produced version of the Sumerian MCA-7E MBT), they have ample experience in fighting in alpine environments. Their unit is stationed in Weiningeralp, a good 500 km drive from the Stanzertal. Should the need arise, the 21. Regiment Alpenwächter is one of the first units that should redeploy to the Stanzertal in order to protect it. Their troops are also responsible for the upkeep of the defensive lines in the Stanzertal, and therefore a small detachment of the 21. Regiment is always stationed at the St. Jakob Military Airbase. These troops represent regular Van Luxemburger military units, and therefore have an equipment no different than standard issue. Their insignia depicts a bear, with on the background a high mountain.

‘3. Schweizerwuecht’ Mountaineering Batallion (with lighter equipment and special training) (1075).
The Schweizerwuecht is a highly-experienced alpine battalion, that is currently based in Egetshof, close to the mountain valley MILEX ’08 takes place in. The Scheweizerwuecht battalions have been in existence since the earlier days of the Van Luxemburger Arméi, and received their name because of the high amount of Swiss Mercenaries that were amongst these troops. Schweizerwuecht is a German-Lëtzebuergesch word that would translate to ‘Swiss Guard’. These troops carry an insignia that depicts the flag of the Conference Helvetia, and have a camouflage uniform that slightly differs from regular military units. In addition to the standard equipment for Van Luxemburger soldiers, they carry mountaineering equipment in order for them to be able to climb steep slopes. In a winter situation they would also carry skis, but due to weight issues, this is not standard-issue in summer. Their weaponry is the FAM-87b, a SIG551 military rifle with a collapsible stock, to make sure the troops can operate in confined spaces, such as caves.

50 Reebouwuecht Special Forces Troop ‘Brigadier Von Anshausen’
Even though rather small in order to be a Military Unit, the ‘Brigadier von Anshausen’ troop is one of the best units in the Van Luxemburger Arméi. Named after the legendarious founder of the Van Luxemburger Special Forces, this military troop cannot be called ‘standard issue’ in any way. Only through personal elimination, it’s equipment is chosen, and the vehicles used are far from standard. The Reebouwuecht are masters in camouflage and undercover operations, and have been specifically trained in the security of high-placed individuals in dangerous areas. This means that a part of these troops can be found around Burg Rickenbach and the Governmental Bunkers, but the rest of these forces will be operating on and even behind enemy lines. The Reebouwuecht units do not have a clear uniform, but will be fighting in every possible outfit, even civilian clothing.

600 Civil Defence/National Reserve personnel
The National Reserve has been called up to defend ‘their’ mountain valley, and these troops will provide a backup for the professional units already fighting in the area. Next to this, they will crew the local defence bunkers, AA positions and guard the local airbases. Another objective for these forces will be to provide logistical support for the professional units. Their excellent knowledge of the local terrain can be very useful when foreign troops are in need of guides. They wear regular military uniforms, but their equipment is mostly of an older type and more basic. A 6.5mm G-66 assault rifle is standard for all troops of this unit. Their insignia is the logo of the Stanzertal, the Zell a/d Stans belltower.

Total 5000 men personnel

Next to this, Van Luxemburg will supply the Air force units for their side. These units have been taken from the Arméi Loft Divisoun, the Army Air Arm. They are incorporated in a custom-made squadron.

‘1. Squadron St. Jakob’
24 Eurofighter EF-2000
4 CASA CN-295
2 Saab S100B Argus Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft

UNITS
Sixth Infantry (Mountain) Division, Royal Nord-Brutlandese Army: 2 Battalions ("Volpe"/"Wolf", "Teschie"/"Skull") (1,000 X 2 = 2,000)
The Sixth Infantry or Mountain Division is trained to fight on mountainous terrains. Aside from the usual standard equipment, members of the Sixth use the SK-6 assault rifle, more suited for mountainous terrains, rather than the standard issue SK-2D. Also, their equipment and provisions are more lightweight, and they undergo training on hiking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, and carry gear necessary for fighting in mountainous areas.

The personnel are essentially the same as an ordinary infantry division, only that they undergo longer, special training. The associated engineer division for the 6th Infantry Div. is the 1st Engineer Division.

Eleventh Armored Division, Royal Nord-Brutlandese Army: 1 Company (Companne "Monstràccio" B/Company "Steel Monster" B) (450)
Armored Divisions typically include additional tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and armored personnel carriers. A typical armored battalion would include 12 additional Max4 infantry fighting vehicles, 12 FM-23 customizable tanks, and another squad (16 people) of engineers/mechanics from the Free Squads of the associated Engineer Division. The associated engineer division for the 11th Armored Div. is the 2nd Engineer Division.

Second Marine (Riverine) Division, Royal Nord-Brutlandese Army: 1 Company (Companne "Squale" A/Company "Shark" A) (500)
Marine divisions are trained on amphibious operations and those involving water. As such, their equipment is adapted to fighting near bodies of water (eg. waterproof, etc.) and the members are specially trained to fight on such areas. Also, the marine divisions often have their own watercraft, separate from those of the Nord-Brutlandese Navy.

The 2nd Marine or Riverine Division is a specialized marine division, trained to fight on estuaries, lakes, and other inland bodies of water. As such, their watercraft are typically small and easy to maneuver. On top of the usual members and equipment, a battalion of the riverine division would have 25 small unit riverine crafts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_unit_riverine_craft), and 5 combat boats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Boat_90). The 2nd Marine Div. is served by the 1st Engineer Division.

Third Airborne Division, Royal Nord-Brutlandese Army: 1 Battalion ("Reinàgno"/"Fire Rain") (1,100)
Airborne Divisions are like the "drop and fight" units of the Nord-Brutlandese Army, and are more mobile. All of the members of the division are trained to parachute, do rescue operations, perform airlifts. Equipment are usually more lightweight, and the number of vehicles are usually smaller. Airborne divisions usually have their own transport aircraft; a standard battalion would have 20 EC-7 transport helicopters and 10 VA-12 planes, plus additional engineers. The associated engineer division of the 3rd Airborne is the 2nd Engineer Division.

(OoC: Since I'm pre-reg'd (somehow I got lucky I s'pose) I've spent most of today working on my ORBAT and trying to work out which side I'd like to be on.

Whilst the ORBAT's still a little way from done, I've decided that I could probably be a damn good attacker.

Hopefully the ORBAT will be sorted later this evening.)

I'm in the same situation, working on my ORBAT; although still waiting for authorization.

(OOC: It was a particularly hard choice, but since we only have two spare slots left (to not make the exercise too large), I had to make a decision between 4 nations. Now, as you know, 4 nations in 2 slots doesn't work, so 2 will have to go.

After checking back on your previous RP's, and some discussion with Russkya, I have decided to welcome Zanziik and Ustio North to the exercise. The Royal-Union and East Laos will be put on the reserve list, so that if anyone drops out, they can replace that player. Once again, I'm very sorry that I have to say goodbye to two out of four players, but it's a choice I had to make.)

ORBAT time. This is still pretty long, but it's quite significantly cut down from the original text file. Hopefully it's got everything you need to know, but if not, I still have to text file somewhere so should be able to pull up the details you need.

OOC: Gotcha. Nearly done. I'm not bringing a lot of armour on this one - I'm relying on quick moving troops, lots of hidden stationary positions and MANPAD warfare. Pretty guerilla, hiding in the towns and in the forests, lots of booby traps, hidden explosives, that sort of business. Doing a lot of recon, moving deep in the mountains either on foot or on very hardy 4x4 vehicles.

OOC II: Okay, a few questions for you VL as I'm planning potential strategy (these may affect my ORBAT)...

1. Rail Line: Will this have trains available to be commandeered?
2. Which way does the river flow (to/away from the Winklersee)?
3. Where does the local authority stand on us blockading their river with controlled demolitions of...whatever's by the river (e.g. bridges, tall-ish building, river banks)?
4. The land 2000+ metres above sea level - what's the terrain like up there? Is it passable other than the paths and rivers?

Erm...that's all we have for now, but you may get more as it goes on.

(OOC: Thanks everyone for posting up their ORBATS already. Now, for the questions:

1. Yes, there will be trains available. Do note that they're not überfast, nor very spacious. They'll most likely resemble something like railbuses (Like the Schienenbus of the Deutsche Bahn, even though modernised. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DB_Schienenbus))

2. The river flows away from the Winklersee. And I'd say it'd be quite fast, since the height decreases rather quickly.

3. Blockading the river would be quite hard (since we're in an exercise, fast-flowing river, etc.), but it is possible to 'blow up' bridges. Then again, since we're doing exercises here, they'll never be actually blown up, even though you can RP it as such.

4. The terrain 2000+ metres is a place where no trees grow, save for some scrubs and other small vegetation. Next to that, expect rocky environments and grass plains. Your troops can get across there, but there might be some steep areas that'd be hard to climb for vehicles, etc. Think of it like this: HERE (Flickr ripoff ahead...) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/stollerdos/241931208/sizes/l/)

Well, hope that answers a bit of your questions, really. If anyone has any other questions, don't be afraid to ask.)

(OOC: Depending upon when this starts, I may have some issues with finishing it, as I've discussed with VL on MSN... I leave Saturday morning for a week on vacation and will not have internet access... If we can work around my schedule, I'd be ecstatic because I am looking forward to this... If not, I'm alright with that and I wish this the best of luck.)

OOC: I return. This will be updated with a TO&E in the very near future - ideally tomorrow.

An OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT to all:

I will be away on a holiday to Croatia starting the 9th of August, and ending somewhere around the 27th of this month. Even while I'll be taking my laptop with me and the campsite has free Wi-Fi internet access, I'm afraid my internet access will be very limited. Therefore, the official exercise start will be postponed to the end of August. I actually expected to be able to run MILEX before my holiday, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

That said, I will probably open the RP thread just before I go out on my holiday, so you can all RP your arrivals, strategy planning and whatnot. Russkya will be in control while I'm away.

Even during my holiday, I'll be trying to check back on this and the RP thread as frequently as possible, and answer questions you might have, if Russkya is unable to answer them.

An OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT to all:
Take care and enjoy Croatia! ;)

Actually I'd be just arriving from outside the country too [no 'Net connection, unfortunately...] around that time, so 'tis fine with me. :)

The additional delay is probably a good thing. This is Radio Russkya, coming to you live from my laptop, because the fucking desktop has decided that it wants to laugh at me some more.

I swear I will eventually get that bloody ORBAT up. It will happen. The only question is when.

If you have any questions about the EX, feel free to TG me. I'd appreciate it if all the "aggressors" in this EX telegrammed me posthaste, so I can send out my particulars for MSN / WLM and we can talk live to coordinate actions and so on.

In light of our host's trip to the Balkans, I feel the need to share a Mujo and Haso joke:

Mujo meets Karađić in disguise on the street:

Mujo: Who are you?
Karađić: Karađić
Mujo: No way!
Karađić: And who are you?
Mujo: Mujo from Srebrenica
Karađić: No way!

OOC:
Oh God, I get back into NS just a few days too late. This looks amazing; beautiful map (albeit a *bit* large to try and just look at from afar), fantastic role players assembled, beautiful scenario set...

*drools*

In the event you're still accepting applications, I run a rather perfect force for this: An aggressive assaulting army that is used to constantly being under fire, moving the ball forward and using minimal far support as they specialize in urban combat. That being said, they go in very heavy in terms of both armor and armament so they rely (should read - require) on large numbers of mechanized transport to move around.

Think Panzergrenadier

They'd be good for OPFOR (obviously), or as counter-assaulting force on the defensive side. Their only major downfall is long-term use due to being so heavy, they tire out fast and of course massive fuel consumption. Good Shock Troops though.

If you're not still taking applications for either side, then

CT: Sounds good to me. If you want in on the aggressor side, then there's a slot that has not been claimed to my knowledge. We'll have to wait to clear it with VL first, but I like the sounds of your breakthrough force.

I'm confused...does the OPFOR side have to provide its own in-territory logistics and supply?

If yes, here is my ORBAT (I know, not very detailed on the supply side yet, just got back into NS a while ago and am re-vamping my re-birthed nation):

NOTE: If the pic is too small to read (which it probably is), save it onto your PC and then view it; the original dimensions had to be shrunk to fit on the page.

When I said HEAVILY Mechanized, I REALLY meant it.

(OOC: Yes, both sides have to transport supplies, as said in the opening posts. Not by 'normal' logistical troops, but by 'fighting' troops, included in the ORBAT. So a small amount of your forces will be occupied with resupplying. Just to prevent there will be people applying 5000 'fighting' troops, and suddenly also have 5000 'logistical' troops fighting. This rule was made to prevent that.

Anyways, The IC thread is HERE (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=562578).)

Air Wing Notes: Any aircraft listed with a /R designation indicates that they are equipped with Russkyan avionics systems, compatible with other Russkyan electronic systems. Most commonly, this involves radios, FLIR optics, HUDs, and the like. The A-50RU is equipped with Russkyan systems, and the Su-25RM and Su-25TR are likewise adapted to meet Russkyan needs. When trucks are listed, the model number indicates the chassis and body type (In the case of the URAL trucks, this is the URAL-4320), though the body is often modified. The comment afterwards (e.g. "Tanker") indicates the role the truck fills. Command, Communications, and Workshop vehicles are fitted with hard boxes over their loadbeds that house the appropriate equipment. These boxes are resistant to small arms fire, up to 7.62x51mm.

Rocket Notes: As with the aircraft, anything with a /R designation indicates modification to function more smoothly with Russkyan systems. The UKShM complex is part of the 9S729M1 Slepok-1 C3 system, known to the RA as Slepok-1UR. The RA tends to prefer using the GRAU index when referencing vehicles that are originally Russian, though they are generally manufactured in Russkya under license.

Engineering Notes: PTS-MU is a Russkyan modernization of the PTS-M tracked amphibian, consisting of a low-profile overhead weapons station (LPOWS) controlled by the commender, fitting either an AGS-30T or BRG-15 weapon. A field telephone jack is included in the rear of the cabin bulkhead that connects to the vehicle's intercom, allowing embarked troops to utilize the PZK-series field telephones in communicating directly with the crew. PZK-series field telephones are fitted by standard to PTS-MU vehicles except when in long-term storage. The sides of the vehicle are proof against small arms fire, up to 8.5x60mm AP-I. The space between interior bulkheads and outer hull, where not covered with armour, is filled with foamed plastic. This increases the buoyancy of the vehicle despite the 2.75 ton increase in weight over PTS-M. PTS-MU retains the ability to tow the PKP trailer. PTS-MU can be fitted with additional floats, running the length of the vehicle on each side. These are rated to increase the load capacity to 22 tons. In-water speed with these floats fitted is reduced by 3 km/h.
The TOS-1/R is identical to TOS-1 save that the weapon is mounted on a T-64B chassis, as T-72 was not and is not used by the RA. A PKT general purpose machinegun is fitted in an LPOWS mount forward of the rocket system, above the vehicle commander's hatch. TOS-1/R are commonly seen fitted with ERA applique armour.
BMP-3 variations (denoted with a -3U or R-designation) are similar in most regards to the Russian vehicles. The chassis is slightly lengthened, with troop carrying capacity increased to eight. BMP-3UKR is the command variation, and unlike the BMP-3K does not carry the land surveillance RADAR. BVU-3R is a stripped BMP-3U chassis equipped with a 650bhp multifuel engine, tow hitches, fifteen ton lift crane, and a seventy-three ton capacity winch. BVU-3M is a derivative of -3R, utilizing the same stripped chassis to fit a BRG-15 or AGS-30T in a OWS, but carries a Projected Line Charge (PLC, like MICLIC) internally, which can be deployed to a range of 250m. The line charge is designed to blast a route 4.5m wide through minefields and wire obstacles. Has been used in urban combat to wipe out entire streets via blast overpressure and secondary fragmentation (of buildings, windows, etc). BMP-3AKR is a modification of the UKR, designed for artillery coordination. AKR is fitted with the "Ebelnits" turret, similar to Kliver in that it fits a fully stabilized 2A26 30mm gun and ATGMs, though the ATGM array is a twin 9K123 "Krizhantema" setup as opposed to "Kornet". BRM-3U, BRM-3RU, and BRM-3RAU are reconnaissance vehicles, with BRM-3U not carrying the land surveillance radar (carried by BRM-3RU), and the -3RAU being a forward observation vehicle variation. BMP-3Us in use with sapper units, as in this example, generally trail single-axle two wheel amphibious trailers a'la PKP trailer with a capacity of 3.5 tons, armoured against fire up to 12.7x108mm (trailer total weight with full load 4.34 tons) that carry the explosives, extra 3POM-1K fuel, and additional equipment as required by that unit's mission.
Note that the sapper platoon HQ section has a three man weapons team. These men are trained to use ATGM, AGL, HMG, flamethrower, or PODNOS-R mortar as required. A platoon will carry one of these weapons in support at the platoon leader's discretion. Within a company, each platoon will generally coordinate with the others. The most common "spread" is ATGM, AGL, and mortar.
Each sapper vehicle is equipped to carry an assortment of demolitions charges, bangalore torpedoes, wirecutters, mine detectors, the 3POM-1K flamethrower, and in the defence, landmines. Additional rockets for the RPO PDM-A launcher are carried by standard, as are a number of RMGs and RPG-28s. A number of MRO-D and MRO-Z rockets are carried for obscuration and destruction of materiel.

Helicopter Group Notes: While the RA typically prefers Mil designed helicopters, the Navy (RVMF) preferred the Kamov series and operates numerous variations, ranging from the Ka-27 ASW and Ka-31 AEW for shipboard use to the Ka-29TB(MR) troop transport helicopter and the Ka-50Sh attack helicopter, flown by the RVMF-AV in support of Naval Infantry operations. MILEX 08 is an attempt to familiarize RVMF-AV helicopter fliers with RA operations in order to facilitate future cooperation between the service branches. The SvL-11 (Sokolov-Lietchkin) helicopter is an indigenous design using the same engines and rotor arrangement as the Ka-27, in a more streamlined fuselage. The helicopter was intended for liason, airborne command and control, and reconnaissance. It is well armoured (proof against HMG fire only) but armed only with a Yak-B rotary gun in a chin mounting.

Wow Russkya. I'm going to have to step-up my writing quality.

Yay.

I think that's the first time I've said that on II in...three years.
Russkya
19-08-2008, 16:02
And that was in response to your initial post, where I thought a simple "Wave goodbye to the ships and say hello to VL" would be far too simple.

Also, I've read your factbook: Very nice, especially the history and culture sections. I had some difficulty deciding if you were MT/PMT/FT, but the equipment pages put that to rest.
Christopher Thompson

I actually used that story when I was an MT and FT nation a long time ago, and therefore it has evolved to be timeless for that reason.

Also, the history piece of writing was several weeks in the making, so please don't expect me to be as good as that. I can write better than what I posted, by a fairly good margin, but you easily have me out-classed as a writer.

As does Laceenia when he tries (Which is simply AMAZING considering that he has fewer than 100 posts and is brand-new). The rest of you, I don't know/am too lazy to read previous posts to find out, but if you're anywhere near either of those two, I'm probably bound to be the weakest writer here...which is both exciting and jealousy inducing.

In a good way.

The participants in MILEX 08 were selected based on their ability to write legible English and not be total dicks. We're all in good company here.

I need to stop dragging my ass and get the Arty Rgt. and 84.SER dBtn TO&Es up, on a side note.

if you've still got a slot for either side for a balanced mechanized force supported by tube artillery,MLRS and AA systems I'd like in otherwise, good job on the RP here and good luck to all.

I'm sorry DaWoad, but we've already decided on the positions. Thanks for wishing us good luck, we'll need it! ;)

So, ladies and gentlemen, the exercises have started. It is now 17:32 here, I hope to post my first move around 20:00, later or sooner possible.

Duly noted. Apologies for my lack of posting thus far, we'll assume my equipment has been delivered and I'll be posting right after VL.

Query to all: Who is still active? Russkya and Laceenia are still in this until the EX completes. I assume VL is as well.

I am. I'm mostly waiting for phase 2 though. Although I'm considering bailing Laceenia out from the little shit storm he got himself into.

Also, hopefully we make this thing happen, as I might be shipping-out to basic in about three weeks, provided I receive a waver for my glasses.

I'm still here: though I'm afraid I'm a bit lonely in terms of allies right now.

Been busy with school etcetera, so I wasn't able to post a reply.

Never mind, I took the initiative.

And I apologise about the quality (or lack thereof) of the past post of three of mine, I've been a tad 'blocky' with my writing and it's been one hell of a battle to get even that level of writing done.

Sorry about the rather uninspirational post I made. Perhaps I wanted to make it better, but I just have to get a back into it for a bit.

So. A bit of good news: I don't leave for basic until January 25th.

So, I'll be able to fully compete.'
Expect postage later today.

The reason there has been a delay is because I am waiting to see what others are up to. I do not want to post a series of posts (or one massive one) that consists of me fucking everything up royally with the support assets I have control of. Doesn't make for a particularly good story. I understand that VL doesn't want to make a post that consists of: "The Bomb Says: Kaboom. The Luxemburger Says: HEILEGER SCHEIZER HERR FLEIDERMAUS!"

Give me a quick headcount. CT, I'd like to talk to you on MSN at some point and Laceenia, it'd be good to see you as well. Have a little bit of minor coordination to get out of the way before everybody has lots to post about.

Russkya is indeed right. It is almost impossible to make a good roleplay out of bombing and being bombed, and with the both of us unable to mount an offensive on our own, we are unable to kickstart the ground wars. It is a thing we'll need to do together, or otherwise it will just cause this to die, I'm afraid.

Rus, you have terrible timing. I'm leaving to get my flight physical and airborne physical at Fort Benning today. I won't be back for 3 days.

But, expect a very large, all-consuming assault when I come back...

All-consuming assault post is half-written. Will be up tomorrow, about noonish CST.

Hope your physicals went well. I'll be controlling Laceenian forces as was planned OOC'ly via MSN until Laceenia returns. When that is, I don't know.

They went quite well actually.

Save for fingers being placed in cavities in my body that I didn't even know existed. That was pretty weird.

But all the testing came back A-okay, so I guess it went well.
