The Great Return (Open to All)

Myakka

The Empire of Myakka had laid dormant for many years in the Event which no one seemed to really understand but yet mind anyway since being isolated from the world did not seem to prevent them from living their lives as they had done for centuries. The cities of Myakka were still bustling, the farms of the Empire were still producing and the writers were still writing. The Church of Myakka still maintained its rigid Calvinism and the pockets of Catholicism still thrived and lived on. The city of Marianopolis still served as the capital of the Empire and it was in this particular city that the Myakkan Government was planning its return to the international stage. It had been about six weeks since the bibliophile Emperor Gaspard XVI had been coronated as the Emperor of Myakka with his photograph-collecting wife Empress Laney at the National Cathedral in which he was given the powers typically given to absolute monarchs over their nations. The Emperor, it was said, was the embodiment of the Myakkan nation. In him the people found pride and honor even if some Emperors were not so honorable in the span of their lives on Earth. Gaspard XVI, in particular, was seen as an honorable man who had a love for literature. At the Imperial Palace on Arveni Street, the Emperor of Myakka was busy organizing the multitude of books that he owned in the Palace Library since he never let anyone else organize them but himself; the same was said for the many photo albums that the Empress kept in her chambers. The Emperor only had four children with his heir, Gaspard, currently on vacation in a rural chateau while his other children were busy with their own affairs. His oldest daughter, Valerie, had just announced the birth of Prince Maximillian whose father was a member of a Dutch Calvinist family who had made Myakka their home centuries ago. As Gaspard sorted out his books with his eyes fixed on a Myakkan edition of Russian short stories, he could hear the footsteps of ministers coming towards him steadily while they uttered words about the Emperor's plans. The Emperor, it was known, planned to bring Myakka back into the world and he had hoped that it would bring him not only knowledge of the world but also chances to get books from nations that many Myakkans did not even know existed. People had a fondness for war and oil but Gaspard had one for literature. The Emperor's eyes soon fell upon the assembled congregation of ministers who stood at one of the massive bookshelves while he, the Emperor, was on a ladder from which he spoke to them. One of the ministers stepped forward and bowed respectfully before speaking in a refined tone with his hand fondling his chin. He was Altair Turenne, a man who had often been associated with the liberal thought that could be found in aristocratic circles due to his support of ideas such as religious tolerance which, truth be told, was mainly something that all Myakkans believed in for centuries. "Your Majesty, the Imperial Court has been intrigued by your plans to bring Myakka into the world but some of us feel that isolation is more better for the nation."

"Are you, Altair, one of them? An isolationist for a Foreign Minister....ironic."

Gaspard XVI came down from the ladder with a smile with his eyes fixed on the ministers in front of him. The youthful Emperor with a rugged frame of body, Gaspard was often called a gentle giant by many due to his size. His muscles often gave people the impression that he could live as a bodybuilder but the Emperor with a six pack generally resigned himself to a world of politics, love making and books since all three of those things formed the trinity of things most important to him. Altair smirked before speaking. "I personally support your plans, Your Majesty, but there are some who do not. What I propose is that we go slowly onto the international stage instead of just rushing in with much festivities. Slow and steady."

The other ministers bickered amongst themselves briefly before the Emperor silenced them. "I believe that is an excellent idea, Altair. We shall take a slow and steady approach to international affairs. It is my will so logically you all shall follow it. Altair, you know what to do now."

The ministers all bowed in unison before uttering the traditional praise of God Save the Emperor as they walked out of the library to bicker and contemplate about things while the Emperor simply went back to sorting his books. Books were always fun to read, he thought, and a good way to escape from the stressful realities of life but so was making love to the Empress which he never ceased to do whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Altair Turenne walked through the halls of the Imperial Palace; briefly pausing at times to gaze upon the murals of Myakkan folk heroes whose deeds of bravery and love were often told by the elderly to their grandchildren. Altair Turenne had often been told about the lives of people such as the Black Widow, an infamous female bandit who led armies during the Foundation War in which Gaspard's family, the Lanquesnets, seized power following years of bloodshed and chaos. The Turenne family to which Altair was born had served the Lanquesnets with much loyalty as one of the many families to consider the Lanquesnets to be the saviors of Myakka. Entering the guest room he had been given, Altair Turenne turned on his personal laptop and smiled as he began working on a message to send to the leaders of the world. The message was adorned with the seal of the Empire at the top so it would be considered official by the readers. Turenne smiled as he sent the message before signing on to his E-mail account to read some messages from friends and family.

Official Communique of the Foreign Ministry of Myakka

It is the will of our dread sovereign lord, Emperor Gaspard the Sixteenth, that the Myakkan Empire return to the international stage and interact with the nations of the world in the hopes that co-operation and knowledge can be kindled and maintained. His Majesty desires the immediate exchange of embassies and the creation of trade between the Myakkan Empire and the nations of the world. If any nation desires the opening of relations then I would ask that they consult me, Altair Turenne, for further information. Thank you for your time and hopefully we can build a better future.

OOC: This is Ixania here with the nation that will replace Bonapartist Europe and the last nation I will be working with, that is, I shall not be making or using any more as I will be sticking with Myakka, Anglia and Ixania from now on. All three will be kept separate from each other. Anyone who participated in the Paris Gala is more than welcome to open relations with Myakka which I acquired from an inactive player of NS.

It was so quick. The Motokatan reply had reached Altair Turenne without any problems and immediately spread like wildfire throughout the Imperial Court with much fervor and interest with the Emperor contemplating plans to acquire Motokatan books for his massive library which was filled with books from all over the known world. Altair Turenne smiled as he turned on his laptop to begin writing a reply to the Motokatans while a diplomat, James Vermon, would be sent to them to discuss relations. James Vermon was already prepared to depart; he just needed to be sent. The message from Altair Turenne was simple, short and straightforward.

"The Empire of Myakka is pleased to recieve word of the Motokatan interest in relations and shall send James Vermon as Myakka's Ambassador to Motokata. We would like him to meet with your nation's government to discuss relations."
