Liefrechuan Confederation
Population: 2,000,000
Culture
The Liefrechuan’s are a pleasant people, who are almost to the person good. They love good food, good friends, and the good life. After a hard days work they are more then happy to go home and relax and have a few friends over.
They do not usually build above ground. Some people take this to mean they are cousins to dwarves. It is really no matter though. They build surprisingly comfortable homes under ground. In most areas they are dug into the side of the hill
Technology
The technology of the Liefrechuans is over all not as advanced as some in the world. They make use of steel as well as cast Iron. They have not developed crossbows or siege equipment.
In terms of farming technology, Liefrechuans make use a crop rotation system to ensure good harvests. As well they do not raise cattle. Ponies are the prime beast of burden, otherwise the primary animal raised on Leifrechaun farms are sheep.
Government
There exists two branches in the one is the council of mayors. Each sizeable town elects a mayor who handles local affairs. They meet regulary to discuss issues that affect the confederation.
The second group is the Rangers, there are 10,000 of them. They are the army and police force. The Confederation is divided in four regions, or Shires with Rangers being divided between them. The commanding Ranger in each region is called the Sheriff, the four of them form a more elite body that deals with major safety concerns to the Confederation.
Economy
The Leifrechuans are primarily farmers. With most people owning their own farms The remains of the population live in towns and fulfill every possible need of the populace from tools to candles.
I terms of trade the Leifrechuans are not opposed to but do not usually travel the world engaging it. They mostly buy and sell to merchants who come through the Confederation, which are not too common.
Military
The Leifrechuan military is composed of the Rangers as a professional corps. The Rangers each have a mail coat and shield. They fight with a two handed hammer (for them). They also have a sword (more like a knife for other races) as a back up.
In times of war a citizen militia in also mobilized. They are in charge of providing their own equipment. The militia primarily functions as archers which they are more the adequate at doing.
