Welcome to World Report News. Today's top story: The Petaristani government collapses, nation in chaos!

A total meltdown of order occured today when the former dictator of Petaristan, Ivan Rykov, died of heart failure early this morning. With no clear heir evident, the nation has dissolved into four territories each ruled by warlords. Though each warlord has vastly different political ideals, each one has goal in common: control of the nation. The former capitol of Petaristan, Kyrikov, has already been reduced to a blood bath as the militias clash in streets. There is no clear word yet on the civilian death toll, but early reports indicate that the number has reached the thousands. Numerous other civilians are fleeing by the thousands to the boarder of Petaristan's neighbor, the Holy Empire of Rathanan. While the Holy Emperor of Rathanan, Tiberius Lucius Severus, has yet to make a comment, it is expected that the Rathani Legion will forcibly break up the conflict.

General Alexei Ivanovich, one of the Petaristani warlords, switched off the TV in his headquarters and lit up a cigar. "Bullshit, Rathanan won't get involved." He said as one of his lieutenants entered the room. Alexei Invanovich was a middle aged man who led the Orthodox Militia, a group claiming to be the militia represent the Petaristan Orthodox Church. Their actions, however, declared quite the opposite as they already gained the same gruesome reputation as the other factions.

"I would not be so sure, Comrade Ivanovich, Rathanan will not take too kindly to the mob of refugees that will congregate around their boarder." The Lieutenant said as he lit up a cigarette. "Their Holy Emperor does not seem too afraid to take military action if he thinks the conflict will leave our boarders."

"Regardless, prehaps a Rathani invasion would be good for us." Alexei remarked as he took a puff on his cigar. "We represent the Church and they are a Christian empire." He added. "If they invade, we can ally ourselves with them and then Severus might put us in charge."

"Still, the Rathani Legions have a track record of accepting nothing but total conquest." The Lieutenant responded.

"Well, we'll wait and see." Alexei said. "But until then, we carry on as planned... Any and all opposition is to be crushed and any civilians who are not for us are against us, understand?"

"Yes, Comrade General." the Lieutenant answered with a salute.

Holy Emperor Tiberius Lucius Severus sat as his desk with his hands folded. The brass of the Rathani Legions were briefing him on the situation in Petaristan for several hours and it was beginning to bore him. At last, he rose from his seat and gestured for the general who was speaking to be quiet. "I get the point, General Silus, and I've made my decision." Lucius said at last as he moved towards the map.

"Shall we prepare the Legions then, Highness?" General Silus asked.

"Yes, prepare the Legions, we are going to restore order to that God forsaken nation and end this giant headache." The Holy Emperor said. "Their militias are poorly organized and many of their members were forced at gun point to join; they have little food and nonexistant morale, which means they can be broken with a strong show of military force." He added as he put his finger on the map. "The Air Force and Navy will unleash massive bombings throughout Petaristan, then the Legions will storm the remaining forces and restore order." He stated as he gestured towards different areas of the map. "It is clear that the Petaristani people only understand brutality, so use any means necessary to neutralize these militias and restore order... I won't have this nonsense." He added. "Any questions, gentlemen?" He asked as he turned towards the generals and admirals.

"What shall we do about the mob of refugees outside our boarder, Highness?" General Silus asked.

"Keep them out of the country, the Council of Bishops agreed earlier that the Church will set up a tent city outside the boarder that will give the refugees food, water, and medical attention." The Holy Emperor said. "Aside from that, if any refugees are caught trying to illegally enter the Empire, you are to give the person or party a verbal warning, if that is ignored, you are to open fire." He added. "If there's nothing else, gentlemen, you are to begin your orders asap and I need to give a statement to the press."

All the generals and admirals stood up, saluted the Emperor and left the throne room. Soon afterwards, the Emperor made his way to deal with the press. "One thing after another." He said to himself with a sigh.

Hours Later

Welcome to the Holy Imperial News Network, today's top story: Holy Emperor orders peacekeeping mission! Holy Emperor Severus gave the go-ahead for the Legions to launch a peacekeeping mission in the now Disputed Territories of Petaristan. Concerning the nature of the mission, Holy Emperor Severus had this to say:

"God creates leaders for this very reason, citizens of Rathanan. In Petaristan, the very worst of humanity is evident in the mass slayings of innocent men, women, and children. I believe I do not stand alone when I say this shall not stand. Moreover, there is too high a risk of this bloody civil war spilling into our boarders and causing the death of many Rathani citizens..."

Hours after the Holy Emperor's statement, air and naval forces began a massive bombardment on militia strongholds throughout Petaristan. Though ground troops have yet to enter the conflict, five Legions have been moved to the boarder where they are currently restoring order amongst the refugees while the Church sets up a tent city on the Petaristani side.
