Le gala de Napoleon le huitième (Open to All)

OOC: This is Ixania here; testing out this nation idea that I had to see if it is acceptable here, that is, abiding by the rules concerning alternate history threads, etc.

IC: Centuries had passed since Napoleon Bonaparte established himself as the Emperor of Europe in a move that filled him with an aura of pride and satisfaction. After conquering England in a move which he said avenged Joan of Arc whose image he appropriated for the invasion of his loathed rival, Napoleon resigned himself to seclusion. He did not live to see his descendants reign in splendour over an empire that the Kings of France would have envied nor to see his image adorn every city on the continent or a statue of him in the city of London to celebrate his triumph. The year 2008 was relatively average in the Empire of Europe as nothing significant really occured so far in the lives of those who took up residence in the Cour Impériale at Paris where Napoleon the Eighth reigned in splendour like his ancestors. He was a relatively stoic man who ardently believed in the doctrines of eco-capitalism and who famously defended his wife, an Englishwoman at that, from hardliners who loathed the presence of the "English whore" as they called her often. Walking in the gardens of the Imperial Palace, Napoleon VIII contemplated the isolation his nation had been in for years. He really disliked having the Empire in its own little world; unable to learn from the rest of God's creation. He knew, however, that some people really did not care for international diplomacy and that any move he made towards it would be condemned by them. However, he did not care for what they thought. He never cared what anyone thought about him. He decided, as he stood at the fountain of Cupid in the center of the garden, that he would declare to the entire world that the Empire of Europe, which Napoleon Bonaparte built two centuries ago, would be opened to ambassadors and merchants from all nations....but he would do so in a special way. A gala, he thought, would be perfect. He swiftly called forth his Foreign Minister, Jacques Vallon, to his personal study which was filled with books and portraits as well as a bust of Voltaire whose writings and ideas were admired by the Emperor.

Vallon, a middle aged man well versed in the art of diplomacy, bowed as he entered the room with the words: "Dieu sauvent l'empereur" on his mouth. "Vallon, I would like you to send out a message to the nations of the world." Napoleon said calmly with his hands tapping away at a copy of Voltaire's Candide which he had often read so much that he could recite some lines from it by memory with ease.

"What sort of message, Votre majesté?" Vallon said curiously; intrigued by this sudden plan of his liege. "Tell them that I am holding a gala here in Paris in the hopes that we may learn from one another. I am hopeful that we will attract plenty of guests." Napoleon rose from his seat with one hand on his hip as he leaned onto the bust of Voltaire. "I will do as you wish but I do not wish to guarantee a vast number of guests attending. We will have to see what Fortune brings upon us."

Napoleon nodded his head. "Go, Vallon, and send forth the message. Please tell me what the outcome of the action is." With a quick bow, Vallon left the room to do the bidding of his liege while Napoleon resided himself in the world of literature; reading Candide which he had read so many times before though it never grew tiringly repetative to him. It did not take too long for the entire court to be abuzz with the news of His Majesty's plans nor for copies of the message which Vallon sent to the leaders of the world's nations.

Although only two replies had been sent to the Foreign Ministry of the Empire concerning the gala it had only generated a fury of curious interest and Imperial joy with the Emperor quite pleased with the work of his one of many ministers. The ballroom in which the gala would be held was being filled with musicians, maids, chefs and security guards including agents of Les Faucons whose mission was only to guard the Emperor and Empress Consort who was so overjoyed that she would be attending the gala with her beloved husband that she spent hour after hour looking for a proper dress to wear to the event while her four children were all being exhorted by their motherly authority to be on their best behaviour as representatives of the Bonaparte family. After all, the Bonaparte family would most likely be meeting people from nations that no one ever knew existed and thus Napoleon the Eighth, in his mind, considered it most proper that his family behave themselves accordingly in their prescence as well as everyone else who served him. Two days before the gala would be held, Napoleon VIII walked into the ballroom to see two maids putting a banner on the ceiling which read: "Bienvenue! Amusez-vous!" while musicians were busy debating which pieces they would be playing for the guests. At his side happened to be the leader of Les Faucons, Pierre Boulanger who looked rather emotionless and stern. As the leader of Les Faucons, the ardent ultra-monarchist would be in charge of defending the Emperor and his family from harm and from any Communist or Republican plots. Communism and Republicanism had often been at battle with the Imperial Court throughout the last century and although they lost in the end they had still enough power to at least carry on the fight. "I see the ballroom has been adorned with banners and frills." Boulanger said calmly while taking a look at a plate of caviar imported from Russia. "I am pleased with the work." Napoleon said calmly while taking a sample of food from a waiter. "Boulanger, you are only to protect me and my family from harm. The other security guards here shall protect the guests and I am sure they ought to have their own security."

Boulanger smiled. "To protect the Emperor and his belle épouse is an honor that I have never once ceased to hold highly in my heart. I am sure, though, that Les Faucons will not have to be invoked for such a situation but we shall make sure that we are fully prepared nonetheless." Napoleon nodded his head calmly before dismissing Boulanger from his sight as he went to talk to some maids. Boulanger, ever so patriotic, made a short and brief praise to the "glory of the Bonapartes" before walking out of the ballroom. He had been one of the most patriotic Bonapartists of the realm and ideas like Communism and Republicanism were heresies to him...heresies which, if they gained power, would bring the nation to ruin. While Napoleon VIII talked to the maids, Jacques Vallon was busy composing replies to Nigel Smith and the Imperial Headquarters concerning their interest in the gala which he hoped would spread to far more nations. A gala need a lot more guests and he hoped to work on getting more. Vallon, after all, was a faithful Bonapartist.

OOC: Although I'd want you to TG me with any questions, etc you might have about this gala, here are some guidelines which you should know about.

1. NO attempted assassinations, terrorist attacks, etc (all nations who do this will be immediately booted from the gala but no, I will not ignore you forevermore)
2. All trade deals, etc should be discussed with the Economic Minister while all military deals should be discussed with the Defense Minister. The Foreign Minister will discuss any embassy exchanges, etc. Mind you, all attempts to ask Bonapartist Europe to join an alliance like the Hegemony will fail (so it is best not to ask about that)
3. You are more than welcome to RP guests getting drunk, etc although such guests will most likely be banished from the gala. If your nation has a feud with another nation taking part in this, you can have a hand to hand fight between guests but no gunfights. Heated verbal debates are also allowed. If national leaders attend, they are more than welcome to bring their wives/husbands along.
4. Let us all just have fun, shall we? Note that this nation has been in the works of my mind for a long time but I was nervous about whether or not the mods, whose wisdom is ever so valuable to us, would frown upon a nation like this. Heck, if the mods want to send guests to the gala, I would be more than willing to accomodate them.

"Un bateau d'étoile?"

Napoleon VII looked surprised as he listened to the news of his Foreign Minister about the attendance of the Kirisubans at the gala as he never expected that he would be seeing visitors from a nation in space. Such a sight would have even intrigued Napoleon Bonaparte himself. "A starship, Your Majesty, shall be carrying the esteemed Kirisubans to our gala here in Paris. I am sure that they will be quite interesting to meet." Jacques said with a smile before noticing the mouth of the Empress Consort, who was beside her beloved husband, looking intrigued. "I would personally want to welcome Miss Yamamoto. It is not every day that we meet people who live in space; the fringes of God's creation." Once Vallon had left the Emperor and his wife, Napoleon gave his wife a tender kiss, called her a belle nymphe and then took her to the ballroom where his son, Prince Napoleon, had been watching the maids and musicians walk by as he sat at one of the tables in one of his best suits. "Napoleon, my son. How are things here in the ballroom?" Napoleon the older said to his son who rose to greet his father with a smile.

"Things go well, Father. We should be ready for the guests to arrive in a few hours. I believe that Louis took Marie and Josephine away to help them find good dresses to wear for tonight." Napoleon the younger said with a smile before he listened to the nearby chit-chat of maids for a brief moment. The Emperor smiled. He was surely thankful for everything that he had. As he walked out the room, he kissed his wife and said: "If things go well tonight...I know how we can celebrate."

The night of the gala was really exciting to the multitudes of maids, musicians, nobles and royals who were all planning to attend the gala and see, for the first time, people from nations that were unknown to them for centuries. Dressed in the finest clothes for the event, the Imperial Family took their seats at their table which allowed them to overlook the entire gala with ease. The Emperor donned his old uniform with the medals and frills while his wife donned an exquisite dress that really complimented her figure. Their four children were all decked out like royal christmas trees; Prince Napoleon, the heir, having freshened himself up for an hour or so. Although he was known to be lax towards politics, he did want to look presentable in the eyes of these unknown foreigners. His sisters, Marie and Josephine, were busy talking to his only brother, Prince Louis, while Napoleon the Older was busying himself with the final arrangements. In about five minutes, the ballroom was ready for the gala. With shouts of pride in the French tongue and with messages sent to the airports to prepare to recieve the guests, Napoleon VII calmly took his seat at his family's appointed table and smiled. He was hopeful that his gala would be both productive and pleasurable. Boulanger, the leader of Les Faucons (OOC: The Emperor's version of the Secret Service), stood emotionlessly next to the Emperor's table while his highly trained agents scoured the ballroom in emotionless patrol. Jacques Vallon was one of only three ministers who were able to attend the gala; the Defense and Economic Ministers would be arriving sometime later in the night. Vallon, with his wife and two children, sat at one of the tables with his eyes focused on the ballroom entrance. He had really been hoping to see the guests he had only been corresponding with through the written word. His wife was busy exhorting the children to behave and he could only smile at her for it. After his nation, his family was the important thing in his life. He shared the Emperor's view on family; that it was the duty of the Imperial Court to make the Empire a better place for future generations.

Napoleon VII had already been notified that the first guests had arrived and he was quite anxious to meet them along with everyone else who was waiting for the guests from strange and distant lands to arrive. His wife was exhorting Josephine to behave while the other children gathered around the table in anxious trepidation. Les Faucons' agents were all over the place and soon the Imperials arrived at the ballroom with the eyes of all the native guests fixed upon them with curious chattering in the French language echoing through the room. Butlers ran up to the Imperials to offer them snacks and drinks while maids led them to a table where they could all sit; their table had a good view of the Emperor's Table where the Emperor sat with his small but beloved family. The Emperor looked down at the Imperials and smiled; making a mental note to talk to them and learn more about their people and nation. He would make sure that the world knew about him, about his nation, and that they would be able to know just what a Bonaparte was.

An aircraft of the Imperial Flight, carrying Her Imperial Highness Princess Aerona and the Rt Hon Ffion Howerd, departed for Paris. After a short flight, two Black Guards, in full ceremonial dress - including a black silk face mask and five-foot swords - stepped onto the taxiway, followed by the Princess. Wearing an original black ball gown, her grey eyes scanned the surroundings. She had made every effort to look incredible, and it was impossible, she thought, not to make a good impression. Except, of course, for the fat, bumbling woman who almost fell out of the plane behind her. Ffion Howerd had never had a great deal of decorum, and Aerona wondered at why the Chancellor had picked her for the Cabinet in the first instance - her talents did not seem particularly obvious to the Princess.

Once at the Imperial Palace, Aerona held her head high as she was led to the Ballroom. Upon entering, the two Black Guards announced her in Welsh and in French:

Ei Ucherlder Ymerodrol, Aerona, Tywysoges Cymru, Duges Caer-yn-Arfon

Son Altesse Imperial, Aerona, Princesse du Pays-de-Galles, Duchesse du Carnarvon

She strode elegantly yet purposefully acorss the room, making a beeline for the Emperor's table to announce herself to him personally.

Mon Majesté...

She curtsied.

Je suis Aerona, Princesse de Galles, député du mon cousine, Sa Majesté Plus Catholique, Llywelyn IV, Empereur des Galles.

Following as close behind the Princess as to make it obvious they were from the same country, but not so close as to embarrass the beautiful young woman before her, Ffion Howerd moved awkwardly across the ballroom in a badly fitting olive trouser suit, and beginning to realise how underdressed she was.

Oh dear...

she thought. What a fool she looked. She hardly made the best impression of the Welsh Government, whilst Princess Aerona could not have been a better advert for the Imperial Family. She only hoped that the Chancellor didn't get to hear of it. She spied Monsieur Vallon across the room and walked towards him, not caring much for pleasantries with monarchs - indeed, when she was officially invested with her powers of state by the late Emperor Owain V, her failure to curtsy and address the Emperor as "Majesty" made headlines. Whilst she did not wish to snub the French Emperor, she felt it was more important to make herself known to Vallon.

I would personally like to attend this gala if there is still a place. A foul-up in communications caused your initial message to arrive in the Free Republic at a later date than you surely intended. This has since been corrected.

Slowly the ducal TGV entered the Gare du Nord. Grand Duke Engelbert III prefered this way of traveling for short distances to the encumberances of airtraveling.

Quickly the educal family left the railway station and was driven to its Parisien residence, where they changed into their official garnment.

While the grand duke and his wife only wore a conventional evening dress, both of their sons were clad in the dress uniform of the Grande Armée into which the army of Kleve-Berg was formally integrated.

It was already dark when the ducal familly finally took their formal horse coach to the gala. The palace was brightly illuminated and Engelbert together with his familly and 5 guards entered the hall.

Crown Prince Engelbert Napoleon was less then happy about the duty of attending the gala. Since he was already 23, but unengaged he knew that it was expected of him to search at this formal occation for a potential bride. Yet he did not feel ready for such a long-lasting relation.

Finally Engelbert III reached the emporer.
"Mon Empereur", the grand duke said with a deep bow.

The Emperor smiled at the Welsh princess who had just greeted him; she made him remember his days back in the Welsh provinces of his empire during his two month long visit. The way she announced herself also made him rememember when his arrival was always announced with much fanfare. He was a Bonaparte and thus royalty although the Bonaparte family's claim to royalty was a bit dubious at best. The Emperor spoke in a solemnly refined tone of voice as he rose from his seat to greet Aerona. "Your Highness, it is a pleasure to meet you. I am Napoleon VII, the Emperor of Europe and the host of this gala. I must bid you to meet my family." While the Emperor spoke to Aerona, his heir, Prince Napoleon was staring at her while trying his best to restrain himself from the act; he felt an instant attraction to this Welsh princess and it took a sharp nudge from Louis to get him to cease staring at her. He was really anxious to have a one on one chat with Aerona. After the others introduced themselves, Napoleon the Younger rose from his seat with a smile and bowed. "I am Prince Napoleon of the House of Bonaparte, Mademoiselle Aerona, and I am the heir to the throne. It is an honorable pleasure to meet such a beautiful woman like yourself."

Once the introductions were finished, Prince Napoleon noticed that Aerona was trying to look for Vallon and all he could do, at the time, was just stare at her from the table and admire her for her looks. The Emperor noticed his son was looking at the Welsh princess but he just smiled and went off to look at other guests. It was not hard to tell when someone was really attracted to another person; especially when they keep staring at them and uttering praises of their beauty in the French language.

If Engelbert Napoleon looked close enough, he could see that the beautiful Princess Marie was looking at him with a smile; as if measuring up his appeal to see if she liked him.

"Engelbert, you must tell me about your flight here to Paris. How was it?" Napoleon VII asked with a smile. "I hope it went well for you. After all, flights should always be comfortable unless damned storms arise. I should know; sometimes I have to fly all over the place in my realm to cities like Edinburgh and St. Petersburg."

To J.Vallon,
Chairman Bambercheck wishes to arrive by boat. Can you clear the chairmans barge for passage along the River Seine. He would also need transport to the palace. The chairman also wants to know if thier is a dress code? The members of the board of fortune will be armed with small knifes concealed on thier person. Chairman Bambercheck will not be armed we will hold you responsible if any harm comes to them. The barge will have a small platton of soldiers who will not enter the city unless thier is a danger to the chairman.

Nigel Smith International Envoy For The Board Of Fortune

His Majesty has personally ordered the clearing of the Seine passage for the chairman and has ordered that a limosuine take him straight to the Imperial Palace. There is no dress code though it is asked that all guests dress presentably. We hope you enjoy your stay here in Paris.

Jacques Vallon had been sitting quietly at his table with his wife while the children decided to go around and explore under their parents' watchful eye. He noticed that Princess Aerona was coming towards him and that the Emperor's heir was staring at her; something that put a smile upon the Foreign Minister's face. The Foreign Minister and his wife both stood from their seats and bowed to Aerona. His beloved wife, Anne, looked quite anxious to meet the Princess; she had always been known around the court for her love of talking to people of high rank such as royalty. "Your Highness, we are pleased to meet you." Jacques said with a smile. "I am Jacques Vallon, His Majesty's Foreign Minister. Is there something you require from me?"

"So... who do we see to get inside?" wondered Mitchell to the Hunter.

"I believe we have to wait for someone," replied the escort. "I perfer to be called Hunter if you may Diplomat,"

she uttered demurely. Rising to her full height, her black dress glistened under the lights. Looking around her, Aerona saw many beautiful people and her embarassing companion, Foreign Secretary Ffion Howerd, ambling towards Monsieur Vallon. The diamond circlet on her brow glistened like her eyes. She curtsied and stepped backwards away from the Imperial Family before turning away. She threw the Prince Napoleon an enigmatic glance as she walked past him. She thought it was probably best to find Ffion Howerd before she ruined her country's reputation. Aerona loved Wales and the March. Peaceful, quiet, beautiful and ordered. Yet in this Palace, she saw such a general splendour that left her in silent awe. As beautiful as the Imperial Palace in Wales - but for different reasons - the young Princess tried to conceal how mesmerised she was at the stunning architecture. She stepped out onto a quiet terrace bathed in moonlight, and scanned the city of Paris.

She stepped out onto a quiet terrace bathed in moonlight, and scanned the city of Paris.

"Elle est un si beau femme ....."

Prince Napoleon had basically fallen in love at first sight with the Welsh princess who had spoken to his father just moments ago; he could not bear to keep his eyes off the young woman and felt his heart leap for joy with every minute that passed as he looked upon her in silent admiration; the glance she gave him only intrigued him further. Noticing her walking out into the terrace, Prince Napoleon took his leave from his family and walked out into the same terrace to see her looking over the city of Paris from which his family reigned and from which he would reign in the years to come. "Êtes-vous froid, Mademoiselle?" Napoleon said with a smile as he stood beside her while he tried his best to look at Paris rather than just stare at her. "I must say that you are a beautiful woman, Aerona, and I would be more than willing to learn about you and your nation. Tell me, what are your hobbies? What is your nation like?"

Napoleon smiled as he looked at the city of Paris; his eyes quickly catching glimpses of the Welsh beauty beside him. "This city has been the capital of our realm ever since time immemorial. It was where the Kings of France once reigned and where the Jacobins once centered the Revolution. My ancestor, Napoleon Bonaparte, took power in this city and from it he created our nation. As a descendant of him, I must make sure his Empire stays alive for further generations to enjoy; since I am the heir to the throne and all."

"I'd love for Aerona to be my consort..." The Prince thought.

"Don't you just love how the moonlight illumines the city and how it shines radiantly upon the River Seine?" Napoleon said with a smile. "It is truly a oeuvre d'art which is enjoyable to watch with you. Aerona, you are quite the work of art yourself. God must have spent much time making you." Napoleon said with a light chuckle. "Tell me, do the men of Wales dream of having you as their lover? They must...for such a beau s'est levé must often be dreamt about by distraught souls who cannot posess thee."

The barge slipped down the River Seine. The Chairmans Barge was accompanied by two other smaller ones. The Chairmans Barge was about 5 metres wide and 10 metres long. This was all left to the Chairman and the two other higher board members. The other barges were heavily armoured and where the same size these housed the soldier and other lower board members. The Chairman looked in out in awe as he passed under St.Michel Bridge he had never seen a building so ornate as Notre Damn. He soon regained his composure as the barges began to pull up to the welcome party a few metres from the Eifell Tower. Chairman Bambercheck walked off the barge his two companions followed one was carrying a small box inlaid with ornate gold patterns swirls and spirals. They silently entered the nearest limo the other board members followed into the second and thier limo.

The limos pulled up at that palace the board members were wearing simple dinner suits are ball gowns. It was hard to tell one from another. They strode foward with Chairman Bambercheck only slightly ahead of them. When they entered the palace the gala was in full swing many guests had already arrived. They strode purposefully towards the emperor. The Emperors announcer announced thier arrivel "Chairman Bamberheck and the other board members from Purnelia,"
"Nice to meet you at last Emperor Bonaparte" He said bowing "I have prepared a small gift" he continued. The board member with box stepped foward. Chairman Bambercheck opened it. Inside was a small bejewelled dagger with the Bonaparte crest in the hilt. Along the blade the words "Liberté, égalité, fraternité, ou la mort" were inscribed.

The Neo Kirisubans certainly knew how to make an entrance and the sight the 'Blue Sky' touching down at an airforce base was impressive.

Yet this was only a diplomatic cruiser and a lot smaller than the other ships in both Kirisuban fleets. The green painted ship looked quite a sight as the Ambassador and Lt Tsubasi walked down the ramp.

They were both stunning asian beauties with Kaori Tsubasi wearing her normal scabbarded long sword as well as carry a gift for the Emperor.

Sakura Yamamoto was wearing a long flowing bustier style evening dress in black and silver and was wearing her dark hair long and free. She looked in her late 20's although she was in her mid 30's. Kaori was only 18 but since girls came of age at 16 she was already quite experienced and skillful enough to be an aide. Her kimomo has two gold stripes on the bottom of her right sleeve along with pilots wings since this was her speciality.

Kaori Tsubashi was wearing a red silk service kimono with her sword in her black obi. The gift was in a long box and hopefully suitable for the Emperor.

(( fast fwding slightly ))

With their small universal translators programmed for French and clipped onto their clothes as well as the crossed golden swords comm badges they both wore they made their entrance into the gala. Sakura did have a mask just in case, hers being a little black and silver eye mask.

They were announced as "L'ambassadeur de la fédération de l'espace de Kirsuban, Mlle Sakura Yamamoto" and now they had to find the Emperor.

OOC: Just some action with the other guests at the gala here in this post. Wales and the Marsh, a bit of this concerns you.

It had been a long time since Charles-Napoleon had gotten around to meeting with his old comrades in the Imperial Court. As one of the many descendants of Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_III_of_France) and Louise-Marie D'Orleans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise-Marie_d%27Orleans), Charles-Napoleon was one of the members of the House of Bonaparte-Orleans which had often played a significant role in the feud between Legitimists, Orleanists and Bonapartists over the issue of the monarchy and he himself had a claim to both the Imperial and Royal thrones but never really seemed to care about it too much unlike other members of his family and other people that he knew over the years. Charles-Napoleon, a young man in his early thirties, generally was more interested in settling down to build a family and working in one of his nation's many companies as a businessman rather than being interested in who was the rightful inheritor of some throne. He had been seen walking throughout the ballroom with his eye on the ladies and his hands on plates and glasses. After a quick dance with a pretty lass, Charles-Napoleon noticed Ffion Howerd walking around and felt himself staring at her briefly; he felt a bit interested in this bumbling woman. Eventually he decided to greet her. "Mademoiselle, may I have a conversation with you?"

OOC: Wales, could you TG me with what Ffion looks like, etc? Just so I can post a good reaction from Charles-Napoleon.

Jacques Vallon, the man who had sent invitations to the gala throughout the world, could be seen dancing in a passionate tango with his wife while others clapped and cheered them on while Boulanger, the leader of Les Faucons, quietly sipped a glass of wine while keeping an eye on the people around the Emperor and his family as was his job and personal duty. Everyone was having a good time.

You flatter me, Highness. There are many women far more beautiful than myself in Wales and the March. Wales is a beautiful country. It is unlike any other country in the world. Mountains from sea to sea, tranquil islands and spraying seas. I wish greatly that you could see it - I am certain it would take your breath away. I know for certain that there is always something new and beautiful to find there. I pray that you will come and see the Imperial City of Caerfrenin, where my cousin the Emperor holds Court. It is perched on a cliff overlooking St David's Sea. The city is spread over two banks of the river Alor, as well as two islands in the centre of it. I suppose, just as Paris sits on the banks of the Seine. Think of Île de la Cité, only larger. It is there that the Palace lies, in front on Independence Square. And the language. The Welsh language is truly a masterpiece in the spoken word.I would that you would learn it and speak to me in it.

She breathed deep the night air and sighed. She was indeed enamoured of this young Prince; she had scarcely met another man she could consider marriage material.

I am involved in a great deal of charity work, particularly in our former African colonies. I love to help people - especially those who live in poverty. I have been gifted with a great deal. The Lord God has graced me. It makes me feel whole to help those who have not been blessed as I have

But listen to me, carrying on about myself and my own country. I could not have been more conceited. What a terrible impression I make of my people. Come, tell me of France.

Aerona, ti celf a 'n arddun rhosyn a 'th addfwynbryd ydy ond bob amser hychwaneg 'n aruthr pryd illumined at 'r golau-leuad (OOC: From a English-Welsh translator).''

Napoleon bowed. ''Aerona, tu hath saisir l'haleine loin de moi , une descendante de les grand Corse , et tu doit être les très de toute beauté femme thanksggiving J'ai toujours vu ; plus de de toute beauté à cette époque-là les filles de les Français noblesse et plus de charmante à cette époque-là ils. The words of the Bard, ''For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night'', fit so well in this situation.''

I am involved in a great deal of charity work, particularly in our former African colonies. I love to help people - especially those who live in poverty. I have been gifted with a great deal. The Lord God has graced me. It makes me feel whole to help those who have not been blessed as I have

[i]But listen to me, carrying on about myself and my own country. I could not have been more conceited. What a terrible impression I make of my people. Come, tell me of France.

Napoleon smiled. ''Blessed be God who has graced the world with benevolent souls such as Jeanne la Pucelle. I must say that I admire you for your work in charity albeit I hardly know of such work. I cannot tell you about France, Aerona, for my nation is not just France. My nation is Europe. Centuries ago, the great Corsican named Napoleon Bonaparte united all of Europe into one nation which I cherish. France, yes, is a great place to live with so much culture and beauty but all of Europe, when one looks at it, is simply breathtaking....although it is breathtaking just to look at you. I am the heir to the Empire of Europe, Aerona, and one day I shall reign over the Empire from this glorious city of Paris. It is my hope that I shall reign with a family at my side and with the support of the masses who I will reign over. A nation cannot survive without the people who live within it.''

''Aerona as my wife?.....I would surely be in Paradise!''

''Aerona, Princess of Wales, I must say that I am very much attracted to you...ever since you walked into the ballroom I have been amazed with thy beauty and charm. It would not be surprising to me if you had men waiting for you at every corner of Wales; just dying to have at least five minutes with you on their arm. The Emperor of Wales is a lucky man to have been graced with such a daughter and I must say that, perhaps, I am falling in love with you.'' Napoleon fell silent for a moment. Had he just alienated Aerona from him?

They walked quietly and privately. She walked over to the balustrade, placing her hand onto the cold stone, waiting for his hand to join hers.

One of the butlers, an elderly but youthful man, noticed the Kirisubans were looking for the Emperor and, with a smile, he introduced himself before pointing at the Emperor who was at his table. "That is the Emperor, Napoleon VII, Mademoiselle Sakura."

Sakura bowed slightly understanding the French because of her translator and thanked him in English. She didn't yet trust her spoken French in the field.

Seeing the Emperor had company the two women glided over and waited their turn. He seemed to be in demand and they would be patient and wait their turn as the gala unfolded round them.

She could dance a bit as could her aide since they'd practiced in a holodeck together before coming here.

After she spoke to him, Napoleon smiled. "There may be plenty of beautiful European women around here in this realm and yes, possibly some of them would be desiring my hand but I am completely enchanted by your beauty, dearest Rose of Wales, for there is no other woman for me. I must admit that I love you, Aerona, and that there is no other woman I'd rather want. It was love at first sight and I feel like telling you all about it instead of hiding it from you. The butler sighed stoically before walking off as if the incident had never occured and the girls who were looking at Carlos decided to walk off as well; saddened a little. Boulanger, from the Emperor's table, chuckled a little. Perhaps Communists were hated in other places, he thought, and as a fanatical Bonapartist who loathed Communists he would most likely have a blast in whereever this upstart guest was from. The Emperor could only smile before he rose from his seat to take his wife's hand into his as they walked down to the dance floor and began to dance in a passionate tango while they spoke in refined French. Princess Marie was still talking to Engelbert while Josephine was busy at the food table with Louis. The other guests such as noblemen and relatives of the Emperor were busy discussing various issues from politics to the merits of the philosophes. The stern Boulanger leaned on a wall as he continuously took sips of his wine; his eyes fixed on the Imperial Family he was sworn to protect. The Emperor basked in the success of his gala and was a very happy man as he leaned into his wife during the dance; uttering the words: "Art de mille une Aphrodite mortelle; l'ensorceleur des hommes."

Prince Louis watched his parents' display with much interest with his little sister Josephine cheering like a football fan at the Super Bowl. It made him think that he should find a woman to dance with soon. Josephine, on the other hand, was more content with dancing around a chocolate fountain then dancing with one of the nobles' sons as she loved chocolate with a passion but yet, to the delight of the health conscious Emperor, knew how to withstand overindulgence.

The Emperor then bowed to Julius' wife. "This must be the High Priestess and might I say that you look absolutely stunning tonight."

"Likewise. Perhaps a glass of wine would be in order?" the Emperor replied, although in the inside he was saying to himself "Hmph. Too eager to get to know royalty, like a peasant."

Napoleon ordered a glass of wine to be brought to the Puritanian Emperor before he spoke to the Empress with a smile. "Thank you for the compliment, Your Majesty. This palace is certainly a masterpiece which is quite comfortable. Now, you must meet my wife when you have a moment. She's a bit eager to meet fellow consorts."

You say you love me, my Lord; pray how would you prove it? For all the wealth and titles in the world count for nought if a man cannot love a woman as a woman...for that is all I am, a simple female.

Aerona continued, teasing the young Prince:

Tell my, my Lord, what great deeds would you perform to win my hand? How would you, a Crown Prince of Europe, win your Welsh Rose?

Aerona waited with baited breath for his response. She was enchanted by this young Prince, intrigued by him, even bewitched by him. She felt as though she had known him forever, simply by looking into his eyes. She had always though true love at first sight was such a dreadful cliche, but now she was beginning to believe that it could happen. Furthermore, she believed in that instant, gazing into Napoleon's eyes, that it was a gift from God. Indeed, she felt that God was telling her to marry him. She could only hope that his reply secured in her thoughts that his love was more than a passing inclination. She needed some confirmation, that he would be gentle, simple, loving and romantic. She did not want some heroic or macho deed, and prayed silently that Napoleon did not promise her gold, or jewels, or titles, but something simple and forever.

Upon confirmation of his arrival notice, Vice President Cruz boarded his aircraft, and made his way to Bonapartist Europe. After landing, he was taken by car to the ballroom, and entered.

He might have taken Kimiko with him, but he had decided not to after hearing some things about what this Empire stood for. He knew that Kimiko could stand up for herself, but a good analogy might be that he didn't want his beloved to 'slip behind the iron curtain.'

He was slightly amused as he noticed the Imperials in the room, it was hard NOT to notice them if you had a practiced eye for picking them out. They would either be standing by themselves in some corner of the room, or they would be close to picking some fight with someone. It appeared that the second attitude might be closer to the mark this time, however; even as the Imperials left the ballroom in a huff.

With nothing else to do so far, Vice President Cruz walked up to the representative from Neo Kirisubo, and hoped to start a friendly conversation.

"I don't believe that monarchy is the problem; it is the monarch who would be the problem." Charles-Napoleon said calmly. "Any government works as long as good people are behind it."

Boulanger, who overheard Howard's comments, was irked by her words. A makeshift bar had been established in the ballroom with a young woman named Hortense Quentin serving all the guests whatever drinks they wanted since her colleague was unable to attend the gala due to personal matters. Hortense was a barmaid known for her passive-aggressive behaviour and her medium length hair which she often had tied up into a bun while some of her cleavage was exposed since she always unbuttoned the uniform a bit. She was a pretty woman who had some sex appeal but that was never on her mind. All that was on her mind was working in the Imperial Palace which she considered to be an honor for her; especially since she lived in a simple house in the city of Paris with her pet dog; a house that was at least comfortable albeit small and compact. Hortense sighed as served the men and women their drinks since she, a simple commoner, just wanted to be like Cindarella and have fun at the gala instead of serving people their alcoholic beverages. Hortense noticed Kaori dancing and smiled; wishing that she was Kaori for a brief moment before going back to her drinks. "One Martini...coming up!" She yelled in an authoritive voice that seemed to be oddly out of place as it came from a rather frail woman. When Prince Louis came towards her, she immediately bowed and offered him a glass of authentic French wine. He smiled and walked off to talk to some friends and she just stood there until she was told that the bartender had arrived and that he bought her a dress as a gift for the hard work she did. Hortense was astounded. She was now the lowly commoner who could associate with the higher ups of Imperial society. Changing into her dress and putting on some white gloves, Hortense went for a walk around the ballroom with a quick glance at some of the foreign guests. Prince Louis, intrigued by the barmaid, decided to dance with her which she graciously accepted. On the dance floor, Hortense danced quite well as a result of those lessons which her mother paid for her to have. "You dance well, Miss Quentin."

This palace is certainly a masterpiece which is quite comfortable. Now, you must meet my wife when you have a moment. She's a bit eager to meet fellow consorts."

The Empress Consort of Europe, a very attractive daughter of France, noticed her husband was talking about her and decided to greet the new visitors from Puritania. With a smile, she looked at the Puritanian Emperor's consort. "A pleasure to meet you, I'm the Empress of Europe. I am sure my husband had been courteous to you and your husband?"

Yes, many other nations have sent guests to revel in the splendour of the Empire. We are not just France anymore, dear friend, we are one people united under a French speaking dynasty. Thanks to Napoleon Bonaparte, this continent has had peace for two whole centuries and hopefully will continue to bask in the gentle aura of peace for many more years to come."

So far, Vice President Cruz had been looking about the room, watching to see who was talking and/or more with whom; and it was proving educational. Maybe he would start to talk with others, when one or another conversation had finished. So far though, he was more content to act like the invisible fly on the wall.

He caught the attention of one of the waiters, and managed to get a fine Chardonnay. At least now he would have something to drink as he continued his lonely watch. Cruz did note with amusement what was going on between the Imperials and some of the women from BE.

"I don't think you are a bad person; I know of plenty of people in the Empire with similar views like yours and even some who have been fired from their jobs for it albeit only to be given their jobs back due to Imperial laws and, at one instance, to the Emperor of Europe's personal intercession. Napoleon VII Bonaparte surely is a privileged man but he is quite down to earth; a good family man with high levels of approval. I do understand your arguments, Mademoiselle Howard, but I must think that there are instances in which non-monarchies are so privileged. Even democracies, for all that they are worth, can be distorted and perverted. To me, the only good government is one by a good leader."

Charles-Napoleon smiled. "I live in splendour myself but it does not mean that I hold myself to be superior to anyone else merely because Fortune smiled upon me. Most nobles are quite nice people. I am sure, Mademoiselle Howard, that you would think that not all privileged people are evil. All people have a heart. Mind you, to think all privileged people are evil is as absurd as assuming religion is evil; all because a few people seem to show views that make them seem evil and sickening in our eyes. Tell me, what kind of government would you want Wales to have? What would you do with the Imperial Family?"

ooc: Btw, Julius is available for conversation.

OOC: Excellent.

Hortense Quentin looked like a commoner dressed in the attire of aristocratic women who seemed to pilfer the manors of the realm. She had noticed the Puritanian Emperor and with a smile she decided to introduce herself to the man. "Greetings, sir. Are you having a good time here in Paris?" Hortense said in a refined tone of voice which was quite odd for a woman whose colleagues were never really too refined. "My name is Hortense. What is yours, sir? Aren't you one of the foreign guests?"

Hortense smiled as she adjusted one of her gloves. "I must say that the gala is quite exciting with so many people having fun. The Emperor, Napoleon VII, is an excellent host."

"Wait." She ran to him. "One last goodbye kiss." She kissed him once more.

"Good bye, Kaori." Joseph said with a smile before walking out the door with nothing but Kaori and the events of last night on his mind.

Sakura smiled sweetly and said "My name is Sakura Yamamoto and I'm from the Neo Kirisuban Space Federation" in slightly accented English although she was understanding the French round her.

To be truthful she liked the attention she was getting as well from this handsome young man.

"A Space Federation? You really come from space? Interesting, Miss Yamamoto. I assumed you were from Japan or something but it does not matter to me where a beautiful lady comes from." The man said with a smile.

"My name is Louis Carré. I'm one of the aristocrats of the Empire; one of many aristocrats but I work and live as a businessman for the company I helped to create. I must say that I never expected dancing with a woman from space but life often does present us with surprises."

I want them gone. Get rid of them completely. Put an elected President in its place. The whole system is outdated and unfair. As for the Imperial Family, first turf them out of the Palace, seize all their assets that technically belong to the state and then either let them live as normal citizens, or if they cannot, ship them off somewhere they can't damage the new democracy.

Charles-Napoleon smiled. "Would you, perhaps, support a move to execute them? Would you want them to be like Louis the Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette?"

Napoleon took Aerona's hand and walked her back into the palace with a smile; he was so happy to have gained the lady of his dreams and now, he thought, they'd dance together. "I am sure you are a good dancer, Aerona. You must have been given lessons."

Napoleon took Aerona onto the dance floor and with a smile began to dance with her to the music of the orchestra. "Aerona....I think we need to find someway to keep in touch. Eventually you'll be going back to Wales and all...."

OOC: I think that we should have Napoleon and Aerona get engaged possibly after the gala or whenever it is suitable to you.

"Life can be full of surprises but some are better than others" Sakura replied smiling as they continued to dance.

"So what line of business are you in Monsieur Carre?" she curiously asked.

OOC: I am closing this thread because of my apparent lack of interest in it. It seems that my original hype over the idea has gone down into the abyss. Wales in the Marsh, I sent you a telegram. I apologize for this. Yes, this is Ixania. I just seem to have lost interest in the idea and thus I'm abandoning it. However, I would hope that I can do future RPs with you all since it has been fun RPing with you (it's always fun to RP on NS in general).
