It had been many long years since a Pope had been able to claim that they held any nominal power over the Scandinvan Catholic Church, with Scandinvan Catholics being lead by their own local Patriarch. Yet, those long years were to come to an end as the Assembly of Scandinvan Cardinals had finally decided to submit to the power a foreign Pope in the hopes that the many years of being unable to claim a proper leader for their Church, as like all ‘true’ Catholics the Scandinvan Church had long held the belief in one, holy, Catholic, apostolic Church. This was the principle that the Cardinals, and the Scandinvan Catholic Church as a whole, had used to move forward the idea that it was necessary to, after more then a thousand years, finally adopt a Pope for Scandinvan Catholics.

Though the Pope that the Assembly of Scandinvan Cardinals had choosen would astonish many people who were unfamiliar with Scandinvan traditions, traditions which made the Scandinvan Empire into one of the most conservative nations in the world. Due to the extremely conservative nature of the Scandinvan Empire the Scandinvna Cardinals had decided to nominate the Doomani Pope, Innocent VI, as the one to head the Scandinvan Catholic Church. Some of the reasons for nominating Innocent VI to be the Scandinvan Pope were quite political in nature, as Emperor Ingolf III, hoped to establish closer connections to the Doomani Empire as a result of the Scandinvan Catholic Church entering into communion with the Doomani Catholic Church.

Furthermore, the Assembly of Scandinvans Cardinals had engaged in communication with Doomani Church representatives and had been able to negotiate a number of important concessions which would allow the Scandinvan Catholic Church to maintain a good deal of independence from the Doomani Church, while also being able to continue to preserve a large amount of their customs and other traditional practices.

Valdra Highway,

Patriarch Frederick II, the head of the Scandinvan Catholic Church, was driving in a limousine to the Valdra International Airport, along with a massive entourage of security personal and a large amount of support staff, to greet a papal legate of the Doomani Church. Alongside the Patriarch came the personal steward, Lord Erida, to represent the will of Emperor Ingolf III.

As they arrived at the airport there already had been assembled a large array of Imperial Guardsmen, dressed in their ancient silver armor, standing in formation, with grand Imperial banners waving, a long crimson carpet laid out at the designated place of arrival for the Papal legate. Coming to a stop on the tarmac, around the time the Papal legated was supposed to arrive, the Steward and the Patriarch were helped out of their car by servants and then stood at the end of the crimson carpet they simply stood their waiting for the arrival of the legate.

Lord Erida looked towards the Patriarch and queried,” Are you certain, your Holiness, that is truly the will of the Almighty to pair our Church with that of the Doomani Catholic Church? A Church which is widely regards as one of the most barbaric religions in the world.”

Patriarch Frederick II replied, while staring blankly forward,” Yes, it is truly the will of our Lord to install his Holiness, Innocent VI, Pope of the Doomani Catholic Church, in his rightful, and justly earned, position as Pope of the Scandinvan Catholic Church, a position which none should deny him of.”

Lord Erida, while looking rather dazed from the whole concept of accepting a Pope was more abashed by the concept that a Pope, whom he regarded as little more then a tyrant in sheep’s clothing, might soon have power within the Scandinvan Empire to rival that of his own master, Emperor Ingolf III. Despite these worries, his orders were rather explicit; welcome the coming of the Papal legate and discuss with the legate the terms of the Communion between the Doomani and Scandinvan Catholic Churches. So quietly he responded to the Patriarch,” Well, it seems Emperor Ingolf III agrees with you on the matter, at least to a limited extent. So I shall not question his judgment, and your judgment in turn, any further.”

With that said, the two returned to their previous silence and simply waited for the Papal legate to arrive...

OOC: Unlike most of my threads I would prefer for everyone, except those who are actually involved of course, to not post. Except, unless if it becomes a problem, your nation's diplomatic response to the Scandinvan Catholic Church accept the Doomani Pope as its leader.
