A New Empire and A New Hope (Open)
Canaery City, Canaery:
It was about 10:00 in the morning. Sovereign King Ryan St. Claire of the newly proclaimed Kingdom of Canaery was dressed in his finest tuxedo, along with the Royal Sash, and his old crown. Soon he would join other leaders of the nations of Rexhem, Waldenburg, Farqueland, and Korsova to creat a new Imperial Force and a new superpower not only to be known in the Mediterranican, but around the world. St. Claire was now ready and walked with his security to the main palace, where reporters outside waited for the coronation..and the birth of The Great Levantian Empire.

Waldenburg 2
06-07-2008, 03:59
"By the Grace of God His Most Gracious Imperial Majesty Wyatt von Waldenburg IV, King of Saxe Blünder Augsburg, Moderator of the Greater Palonian Empire, Prince of Liech, Archduke of Paloni, Elector of the Border Lands, Viceroy of Ibblesguard, Margrave of Saddvideen Archduke of Nova Cyprus, Grand Duke of the Nova Dardanelles. Primate and Proctor of the Holy Church, High Marshall, Supreme Surface Admiral, Lord Air Marshall of All Imperial Forces, Bishop of Strienlikstern, Commander of the Rim Guard, Lord High Inquisitor, Knight Grand Commander of the Illustrious Order of St. Michael, Protector of the Faith and Lord of the Heavens.”
It had been seven decades since the words had been first spoken; seventy years since the archbishop had lowered the simple circlet of silver unto his head and made him the most powerful man on the continent. In seventy years he had seen his share of warfare, of great and noble men, of glorious intent, and he had seen coronations before. This one, this one seemed different somehow; it was not merely the uniting of crowns into a semi binding nation state, but a greater unity, one not of only crowns. Still it was just another day, one of thousands for the aging Wyatt von Waldenburg IV.
Unlike those who acted on his behalf the Emperor’s own pomp and circumstance was entirely diminished with age; he did not arrive in a furry of military bands, or on a brilliant white stallion, but in a slightly rusted touring car, which had belonged to his father. On a silver sheathed cane he took the stairs and ignored all offers of help; though he wish never to aggrandize himself the day you were helped up the stairs was the day the viziers and advisors slowly closed in; the day when weakness was shown beyond the necessary and intended infirmity was the day when it was made real.
History, though the Emperor had lived enough of it, was to be made today, the first election of the Levantian Empire, of course to the outside speculator it would be no weakness on the Waldenburger’s part, so frail encroachments to a greater power. For though the Waldenburg Empire, with it’s constituent nations numbered in the tens of billions, far greater than any nation assembled, His Majesty had no intention of becoming the Levantian Emperor or indeed of holding any great office within the organization. As Machiavelli stated there is a divine balance to power; a state where one is not too powerful, when the world does not turn it’s eyes to watch your every move, and naturally a state above impotency, where safety and control are ideally balanced. Though never ascending to the new Imperial throne, it was hoped that there would be a minim of power for those who observed ,and as it were participated, with the objective of maintaining the status quo, no matter the superficial cost.
And so over many thousand miles Wyatt von Waldenburg IV came to his second coronation, and stood by his counterpart of Canaery; he smiling brightly for those yet to come.
OOC Sorry should have had this up hours ago; got distracted arranging
a coronation mass if we're going that far, and if not someone should take Imovie away from me.

OOC: thanks to all the people that responded, appreciate it. Umm...not quite sure what you mean exactly by that, but he will prove he is worthy of leading the new Empire.
IC: St. Claire moved to great the Waldenburg Monarch and share a couple laughs with him. Both men knew though, that this would bring forth a new era in the region and the world. Just then, a parade of soldiers bearing emblems emblazoned with the Sun marched toward the palace. Farqueland's Theocrat and Zionist Leader, Ru'an, was carried in on an elephant. He looked majestic and was surrounded by many people, including his wife and three sons. "Well," said King St. Claire to Waldenburg IV, "I think we know who wins the award for having the most pomp and circumstance."

The King had returned from his morning run around the palace, it was a little known fact he was an avid jogger. That day's copy of La Minutelle was on top of his desk announcing the newly formed Great Levantian Empire. The new empire was just a hop, skip, and a jump away from West Ponente across the Gulf.
He quickly wrote a letter to the leaders and nation:

IC: Arriving at the Coronation:
King Rex III arrived by limo amidst the end of the Farque leader's caravan. He stepped out of the limo, surrounded by bodyguards and walked towards the other monarchs. He bowed towards Waldenburg IV, then shook his hand. "Hello, it's nice to finally meet you. I look forward to a new future with your people." He then did the same to Ryan St. Claire. "Peace be with you friend. I think a new era is on the horizon, and it will be the best for us all."

The Waldenburger Emperor gave curt nods of recognition to the arriving heads of state and various dignitaries arriving by limousine and on occasion more unusual transport. With but a few delegates remaining to attend von Waldenbug turned to his fellow monarchs, “I believe we are only waiting for the delegate of Korsova, I believe with only one such delegate missing perhaps we may begin? If I understand the system we have yet to elect an Emperor, without one our coronation may be a little scarce. Most likely His Majesty will arrive before we have begun the debate in proper, but I suggest for the moment we begin, we must not hold up history.”

"Agreed" replied Rex. "But I think we must retire inside the palace for awhile before we..." . Just before he could finish his sentence, another limousine arrived, bearing tiny flags on the sides with a black bird on them. "Ahh, that must be him" said Rex. Out of the limo stepped a dark-haired man of a tad bit smaller stature than the others. He stepped out with his wife and royal guard as he came forward and shook hands and hugged Rex. "Everyone," began Rex, "this is the Prince of Korsova, Marten Evanovich II. He is also my cousin on my father's side."

For a moment the Waldenburger Emperor took some offense at being called 'Waldenburg' and though he was conventionally known as the 'Amiable Tyrant' he considered, if only for a moment, reminding St. Claire whose line stretched back 2600 years, and who when push came to shove, could really shove. He wiped away the thought and turned smiling to his counterparts.
"Though this may be an entirely unconventional attitude, and indeed I am unaware of any protocol on these situations, however if I may extend my opinion; I wish to nominate His Majesty the King of Canaery for the position of the Levantian Emperor. Though I would not digress as to my entire position, however I believe for the purposes of stability, both in political and international matters. Is some sort of vote required? Should there be a vote, I suspect there is to be one, then I am sure all know where the Waldenburger vote shall be cast."

OOC: sorry bout that Wald :/
IC: St. Claire was stunned at first when Waldenburg IV voted him, although he was trying not to show it. "Umm...yes, actually, we were going to hold a vote" said the young monarch, "and I think we should retire to my West Room to discuss futher and not out here in public. My staff will take care of anything you may desire. Now, shall we?" finished St. Claire. He was still surprised though of this vote of confidence from a man that wielded more power and influence not just in the Mediterranican, but on the world stage, than St. Claire could ever dream.

If it is however your wish to do so inside, then we shall. I have supreme confidence in the Electors of this empire, if it be you then all the more vindicating for me, however if we must do it behind closed doors then let us. Suddenly, Rex knew where the Waldenburg Monarch was going with the conversation. " I wholeheartedly agree. His Holiness is right, I think we should stay out here and voice our vote, as it provides greater impact. I think our future citizens of this Imperial Confederation deserve to know immediately who will be their next Emperor." Suddenly, Rex could tell that reporters and other persons present had somewhat overheard the conversation as they began making their way towards the leaders. "Furthermore," began Rex again, who had personally, loved to be in front of a camera and always answered media questions, "Futhermore, my vote of confidence goes to my fellow monarch and longtime friend...Ryan St. Claire, to be the first ever Emperor of Great Levantia." Reporters started snapping pictures as they had heard Rex dramatically voice his vote.

After Rex finished his dramatics, Ru'an, the Farque leader, opened his mouth, now directing the reporters attention at him. " I, Ru'an, the servant to the Farque people, also vote for King St. Claire. He has served well as a protector for my people and I would trust him personally with my life." Reporters and people were now gathered near Ru'an, who himself was a very charismatic figure.

Wyatt von Waldenburg IV nodded to his fellows as one after another they displayed the sentiments for which he had hoped, "I would assume, naturally that your vote would make in unanimous? Still it matters not, even without your own vote, for yourself, we have attained a majority." The Emperor took three steps from the little congregation around the door and bowed slightly to the crowd of reporters and lesser dignitaries before throwing up his arms.
"Before you, on these very steps in less than 10 minutes we have elected the first, the preeminent Levantian Emperor. Let this show the resolve of this union, let it show with what stability this great monarchy shall be ruled. We are steeled and united; we are one nation of peoples joined together in the interests of said people. We are the Levantian Empire." Flashbulbs nearly blinded the Emperor, but he could not raise a hand to shield his eyes. "It grows late however, and it seems only practical that we prolong the coronation until tomorrow. I have no doubt hotel arrangements have, or can be arranged for various dignitaries, and visiting members of state. Late morning tomorrow will see the crowned head of the Levantian Empire speaking to you all. Until that moment, though I cannot speak for my colleagues, I bid you good evening, these bones need their rest."
OOC If no one has any problems, I can handle the coronation (Will have it up sometime tomorrow.) I'll need to take control of St. Claire for a few hours (Or if he declines the position I can always swap in a different name) in either case I can write it up.

Consider your request granted. The more the merrier. And thank you.

St. Claire did not voice his vote, as he was overwhelmed. Even though the idea of an Imperial Confederation was his idea, he did not in reality expect to be elected so quickly. But he thought, "He's right, this shows everyone that we stand together easily and that we are a new force to be reckoned with." He was glad he had such a monarch as Waldenburg IV on his side. His security staff directed the leaders away from the media into palace of St. Claire, a marvel in itself. Once inside, St. Claire told all of them, "Well, we will have to wait until tommorow to begin the coronation, as His Holiness Waldenburg has just stated. Hotel provisions have been made, You will all be staying at the two finest hotels in the nation and in the capital, one of them the St. Claire, named after my family. My limo drivers and guards will drive you there and take care of anything you need." Afterwards, St. Claire bid them all good night and filled them with a message of hope and promise for the imminent future. "Now," he decided, " I must retire. It's been quite an eventful day." In a span of 24 hours, he went from youthful leader to possibly the one of the most, if not the most, powerful leader in the Mediterranican.
OOC: Wald, that would be great. And I do not mind if you take over St. Claire for awhile, I trust your judgement. But here is some quick background that may help you: Ryan St. Claire is a part of a mixed line of nobility on both sides of the family that by itself is only 100 years old. He is a young monarch of about 25 years old and has a reputation as a benevolent and charismatic leader, although leaning towards the timid side, as he is not really seen around media very much. I hope this helps!

OOC Left as many things ambiguous as possible.
Zadok the Priest (http://www.kgv.edu.hk/german/music%20files/Handel%20-%20Zadok%20the%20Priest%20(2).mp3)
Almost condensing on the air, it was difficult not to catch a feeling of anxious anticipation. The cathedral was packed, nearly ten thousand people; dignitaries from all the corners of the earth were packed together with eighteen inches of space between them. So tightly packed amongst the ermine and velvet cloaks and hundreds of diplomats and officers sat, and chatted in nervous anticipation. The five represented monarchies sat regally amongst a set of gilded boxes at the head of the nave, where a scattering of necessary bishops and church officials, whom were required for the service, sat amiably.
The Levantian Emperor Elect was still being greased into his newly tailored robes of state, and his pages and various associates were being assembled in the small vestibule behind the nave. Outside thousands of citizens, who would be united under one banner in but a matter of hours, clutched little papers flags to their chest in anticipation. It did not particularly matter what those flags displayed, it was merely a comfort to have a little paper flag to wave on such occasions, and the occasional man with a decorative cart wheeling through the crowd was often mobbed by excited patriots.
Even within the somber halls of the cathedral, whose windows portrayed the passion of Christ, in great relief at almost twenty meters of height, the noise gently rattled the windowpanes and shook the alterware. Though there was noise, and noise in great abundance, a great susurrus sucked down all irreverent shrieks, all protests, all irrelevant noise from the air, and it all seemed to emanate from the tiny door from which Ryan St. Clair would exit and under the eyes of the world walk to his newest throne.
As if from some universal cue the orchestra, some two hundred members, and the grand choir, a further seventy struck up in the beginnings of the Coronation March filed the hall, and on the same given cue outside the crowd fell silent. Massive plasma screens erected around the cathedral showed what they had all waited for hours, had jockeyed for position for hours to see, their Emperor. He was to some a terrible disappointment, he seemed so you, and a little red in the face from either cameras or from the admittedly stifling heat
To the beginning strains of Zadok the Priest the Emperor elect exited his dressing room, followed by a train of six pages carrying the ermine trimmed robes of state. Behind them, and loaned on the occasion, as no formal unit could be created, marched two squads of Waldenburger Household cavalry dressed impeccably in green with silver dragoon helmets rising nearly two feet into the air.
“All rise in the presence of our lord and Emperor His Imperial Majesty Emperor Elect of the Levantian Empire Ryan St. Clair.” Thousands of legs pumped to life as the Emperor approached. Heads bobbed by the thousands as the train passed. St. Clair, for his age, and his given idealism thereby acquired, acted out of turn by staring directly at his throne and smiling slightly, while only occasionally nodding to recognize the more interesting members of the crowd. As the train approached the throne, a nearly six foot monster of aged wood, carved with the royal emblems and great heraldic symbol chosen by the Emperor to represent his tenure on the throne, the great robe was shed and taken to the side by the pages which left the sovereign alone to approach the throne.
As hid foot set on the alter the Coronation Mass gently hummed to life, with the minstrel galleries playing softly so as not to drown out the elderly bishop who was to perform the ceremony.
St. Clair turned, bowed and then sat, signaling all of the assembled to also return to their pews. On doddering feet one man remained standing, the Waldenburger Archbishop of Streinlikstern, who approached the throne at a slow walk either from a dramatic wish to do so, or because he legs could carry him no faster, it wasn’t entirely clear, but several bishops and lesser deacons kept pace behind him. On approaching the throne the archbishop stared short sightedly down at the young man, as if scouring his soul, and then nodded slightly before turning slightly to the audience.
Missae Rex Aeternum (http://www.doepkeonline.com/coronation.mp3)
Very Long alert
“In the eyes and name of God I convene this most holy of holy masses to celebrate the anointing and consecration of our new lord and sovereign. Are you prepared to accept the duties of Emperor and fulfill them till your dying day?”
St. Clair seemed to come alive, the cameras were still on him but he seemed to be descending from an ethereal state into a more mundane and certainly responsive one, “I am prepared.”
With a small and practiced flick of his wrist the archbishop dabbed holy oil across the man’s forehead, “Then be thou anointed with this sacred oil, descended of peace, vinted in war; it is your oath and solemn promise under God. Are you willing to sacrifice your everyday and last breath to the glory and protection of all the domains and people you have been given to rule?”
“To this I swear and devote my life.”
With another hand and with the assistance of a deacon a scepter was maneuvered into St. Claire’s hand. It like most of the crown jewels was not overly adorned, and indeed quite freshly made so as not to have the polish taken off yet.
“In the eyes of all assembled do you swear to uphold the nationality and customs of all peoples and nations assembled under your throne?”
“To this I swear and devote my life.” A second scepter was placed in his other hand from a constant train of endless velvet pillows.
“Due you swear to uphold the peace of God and rule peaceably over all subjects in your dominions?”
“To This I swear and devote my life.”
The moment had arrived as the archbishop slipped a small gold chain around the Emperor’s neck, there was only one items left, and it sat sullenly on it’s velvet pillow, glinting dully in the great beams of light lancing through the stained windows.
With slightly trembling hands the archbishop took it and held it over the Emperor’s head, “Then by God and the power granted to me through the communion of saints and angels, and vested to me by the will of the sovereign; I proclaim you By The Grace of God His Most Gracious Imperial Majesty Emperor St. Clair I of the Levantian Empire, Nimius Rex Imperator Aeternum, King of Saxe-Blünder Augsburg, and Defender of the Faith.” The crown, mostly composed a gold circlet, with a colored gemstone depicting each realm represented, and studded with diamonds was lowered unto St. Claire’s head.
“Vivat Imperator Aeternum,” the bishop whispered but still carried the force to now flow through the vast interior of the cathedral and out to the crowd outside, which stood silent for a moment. And then with the force of an avalanche the cathedral stood, “Vivat Imperator, Vivat Imperator!” And outside the thunder rose till it became deafening, that was to all but the final Coronation March made a spirited attempt to cut the roar by winding up.
All along the cathedral the household cavalry had drawn their swords, and made and arch for the newest Monarch to walk amongst which he did at a slightly faster pace than before. As St. Claire passed Wyatt von Waldenburg, he arched an eyebrow questionably, he did not remember coming ‘King of Saxe Blünder Augsburg’ all the Waldenburger could do was waggle his own eyebrows and gesture at, we’ll talk latter. Any words would have been lost to either the music or the roaring crowds outside.
Now according to the ceremony the new Emperor must walk outside and present himself to his new nation, alone. Overhead, as the Emperor approached the outside, he could hear the roar of engines, this was another surprise, and as the door was opened he saw nearly two dozen bombers overhead, bomb bays flung open and millions of rose petals descending on the awaiting crowds, and his own path.
On a purple carpet rolled out into the square around the cathedral the Emperor walked, as at the door and all around him people stared, now he seemed in his element, away from all obvious cameras and reporters, and he walked sternly and with a inner grace, before stopping in the middle of the square. This had been the most argued part or the ceremony, what about snipers they could take him at any moment, so security forces had compromised and put their own sniper in every building surrounding the square.
With a slight bow of his head the Emperor turned both right and left, “I am your Emperor if it please you?” For a moment the question was left hanging before yet again the entire square exploded madly, and paper flags cut the air to shreds.
Later that evening there would be fireworks across the realms, and the bar and pubs would be opened across Waldenburg at least. For the moment though the Emperor had to see to his visitors and grant various emissaries an audience.

It defaulted back to me, for the original owner failed to claim it. I've been trying to get rid of it to a worthy cause, so it's being placed in trust to the Levantian Empire. It will be an absolute monarchy tied to the elected position, so whoever becomes Levantian Emperor becomes King as well, and gets 890 million+ people to toy about with, if he should so choose.
EDIT: On looking back, I had a highest bidder but the sale was confirmed on either of our parts so I suppose not. So Can you want to be a Prince too? No, of course not, I'll see if I can give it to Vetalia as a wedding present maybe?

OOC: Did you ever end up selling Liech, Wald?
IC: The Royal Family was in attendance for the Coronation Mass of the Levantian Emperor, in full regalia. King Louis usually enjoyed the pomp of such things, the only things bothering him was the State Crown, which was starting to bother him a great deal as well as the mass of gold and purple clothing that made up the Royal regalia.
The ceremony was without flaw from start to finish (unlike his where the cardinal had dropped the crown, and then didn’t know which side it was to face.) from the ethereal music to the magnificent cathedral bedecked with new Levantian flags and crests. He quickly gave a glance back to see the thousands behind him, with many more in the square farther on, it was stunning.
When the Emperor was led outside to see his new subjects the noise was deafening, the King had not heard a sound that loud since the Vivicide. He got up and headed over to where the other heads of state and emissaries awaited his return, as to congratulate his new apotheosis.

OOOC: I don't mind, I started out as principality anyway, I'll just have a long ass title to put down.:D
The new Emperor walked out on a rolled out carpet and greeted the populace, enriched with a new confidence that had not been in him before. He shook hands and kissed babies that were thrown his way. He celebrated with them before meeting up with the foreign dignataries attending. The first one he came across was King Louis of West Ponente. St. Claire, being of French descent, greeted the king, bow respectfully and shaking his hand. "Bonjour mon ami. C'est vraiment un plaisir de vous voir et vous tous ici. Mai de cette nouvelle journée nous lient ensemble dans la fraternité pour le mieux du monde." He greeted the other heads of state as they came to him, wishing them peace, talking, and jokingwith them all very informally, as if he had known them for a long time before.

OOC It is a grouping of autonomous monarchies under a single elected monarch who gains comparatively little comprehensive power within integral nations. Simply it is a constitutional monarchy of monarchies (And I may add a democratic one.)

Also as per an agreement (and partial decree), we will also have an elected government that will be headed by a Chancellor, forming a semi-constitutional monarchy, in which the Emperor retains some executive power.
OOC: I hope later to create an election thread and any of the countries can put up candidates, and they can either repreent a party or not. Actually...you may put up to 2 different candidates if you wish for the Chancellor. Greston will as well as per agreement, since my Canaery itself has a Grestonian Prim Minister (now Statesminister).
