The History of Wanderjar

The history of the Wanderjarian people is ancient, extending back millennia to before the rise of Rome. Theirs is the history of Germany, the history of Prussia, and this history of the Nordic and Slavic peoples.

Germania saw the Wanderjarii, a mighty and brutal warlike tribe, rise in dominance against the Roman Legions which sought their conquest. Resisting to the last, the Wanderjarii were fierce and tenacious fighters, and were never fully compliant to the whim of Rome, forever raiding outposts and assassinating garrison troops in the night. As time passed, and Rome fell, an age of darkness fell over Europe, and little record follows the tales of the Wanderjarii as they rose from a small yet powerful tribe into a Kingdom in Germany. As the Holy Roman Empire became established, the Wanderjarii grudgingly accepted Catholic religious dogma and slowly the old religions and tribal Gods faded from memory and into ignominy. The Teutonic Order, taking note of the fighting prowess and courage of the Wanderjarians, annexed them into their Northern Crusade and enlisted armies of them to fight alongside the Teutonic Knights and their marches into Lithuania. King Derik the Mighty however, changed this. As stories spread of Martin Luther’s disobedience to Papal corruption spread, he offered his sword to the protestant movement and thus started the long and brutal conflict known as the Thirty Years War. His son, Prince Luther signed the Treaty of Westphalia himself and Lutheran Christianity became the official religion of the Kingdom of Wanderjar.

Prussia, under the rule of Frederick the Great, annexed Wanderjar into its realm with limited resistance. The Wanderjarian people were pleased with the discipline which the Prussian people embodied and the level of militarism which they prided themselves with. As Napoleon’s armies swept across Europe, the Wanderjarians fought stoically in the defense of their Prussian state, but in the end the sheer numbers of Napoleon’s forces overcame the raw courage and passion of the Prussian fighters. However, all was not lost. In the final battles of Napoleon’s reign, under the command of Lord Wellington himself, they battled the French and slaughtered them at Waterloo, shattering Napoleon’s last dreams of Empire.

The Republic of Wanderjar, a state which formed itself after being liberated by the pursuing Russians, was short lived. It found itself again unified with the Prussians in the new German Confederation of Otto von Bismarck. The German Empire, being very ethno-centric, had a separate army for the Wanderjarians as it did for the Hanoverians, Bohemians, Burgundians, and Bavarians. In the trenches of France, in the mountains of Italy, and against the self-destructive and revolutionary plagued Russians they fought for the Kaiser and for Germany. It was estimated that eighty thousand Wanderjarians died in battle against the forces of the Entente.

In Hitler’s Germany, the Wanderjarians eagerly embraced National Socialism, reinvigorating the ethnic pride which they had been stripped of by the harsh Treaty of Versailles. Fighting alongside heroes of the Reich such as Rommel, von Manstein, Keitel, von Fedor, von Bock, Eric Raeder, Raus, and multitudes of others, they fought with dignity and pride, for their people, and for Germany. As the war concluded, they found themselves under Soviet control, and after the creation of the Deutsch Demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic/DDR/GDR) they learned a new system of governance, trading National Socialism for pure Socialism. It would not be until the fall of communism in the west that the Wanderjarian state rose again, this time upon another continent.

They rose again, in fact, upon the island continent of Haven. Civilization grew, and from nothing they built an Empire. Under the leadership of Kaiser Daniel Baker, they built industry, produced agriculture, and made new lives for themselves. Upon his sad death, his son Kristoph Baker took the reigns as Kaiser of the Wanderjarian people. Renowned as “Mighty”, Kaiser Baker II would take the Wanderjarian state to new heights undreamed of before by his father.

During the terrible period known as the Kraven Wars, the Wanderjarians involved themselves in a series of side conflicts which would come to find themselves no less important in the over all defeat of the Corporatist Forces. They would meet destiny in a land known as Peoples Democratic Republic of Chitzeland, a small peninsula bordering a series of ethnic Albanian (Muslim) nations. Having ordered the systematic extermination of all Muslims, the Kaiser felt obliged to prevent from occurring another holocaust such as the one which for so long plagued his people’s consciousness. He ordered the invasion and destruction of this regime, and the replacement of a fair and just government of the people.

And so it did. The Wanderjarian Government organized its military, and created a Coalition with several other nations including Errikland, Liberated New Ireland, and the Northern Colonies to eliminate this illegal government. With an airborne assault, Wanderjarian Fallschirmjaeger regiments landed in Chitzeland and seized border towns such as Elfzar, Zarzor, and Yuri, and began pushing farther west with their allies, whilst artillery units shelled border positions and softened up enemy fortification for invasion. Armoured Divisions rolled across the border expecting heavy resistance and meeting little, as the sheer awe of the forces they faced overwhelmed them and forced mass chaos and retreat in the Chitzi units.

President Copeland, the corrupt and defunct leader of Chitzeland, scurried away to his Dacha in the mountains, deep beneath the surface in a bunker constructed for just such an event. There he attempted to coordinate a last ditch defense of his collapsing nation. Rioting instigated by Wanderjarian and New Irish special operations units erased any sense of order, and Chitzi police struggled to contain their own people’s hysteria and rage against the back drop of this conflict. Somewhere, in an unknown village, a radio broadcast was cleverly created to destroy the Wanderjarian Coalition’s attempts at restoring order. It claimed that Wanderjarian forces were infact Muslim armies making Jihad on their lands once again, and exterminating the Slavic people of the land. The situation rapidly deteriorated when the Corporate State of Emperor Pudu laid his eyes upon the lands of Chitzeland greedily, and invaded himself in loose cooperation with the forces of Parthia, Kravania, and to a lesser degree the Kraven Corporation. They did not, however, expect that such a young nation as Wanderjar would be capable of such a tenacious fight as the one they gave.

The men of Errikland, Ireland, and the Northern Colonies worked with the newly added nation of Hurtful Thoughts to contain Kravanian and Parthian aggression as they invaded through the south by sea, and the Wanderjarian troops worked to contain the Pudite forces landing to the East by way of the port city of Locke. Special operations elements harassed, continually, the landing efforts, bombing ships with underwater demolition strikes, rocket attacks on munitions dumps, and guiding in long range bombers to deploy guided ordinance at headquarters positions. These attempts were of little consequence, regrettably, as the Pudite divisions continued landing and proceeded to move south, towards the city of Accen, where an entire Corps of Wanderjarian troops had garrisoned themselves. The same GSG-9 Special Forces soldiers mined, trapped, rocketed, an generally harassed the oncoming units as best they could, but were unable to completely halt the advance. Heavily entrenched, the men awaited the fight deep within their trenches as the Pudite units came forward. However, in their initial assault the Pudites would find themselves repulsed, and their second attack repulsed as well. Realizing that attacking was useless, the bombed and shelled the city into the ground, generating enormous Wanderjarian casualties and forcing a surrender of the surviving garrison. These brave men were promptly executed by their treacherous captors.

With over one hundred thousand dead, the Wanderjarian Kaiser could not expect his men to fight any longer. As the Pudites continued their advance, the Northern Colonies and Errikland forces managed to force Kravanian withdrawl and a general containment. PROHT forces conceived a cessation of fire between all sides, and the Chitzi government collapsed as Copeland was executed in a coup. A new, Revolutionary Directorate established itself, and the Wanderjarian troops withdrew, their Commander Feldmarschal Johann von Strauss angerly exclaiming that he would return.

The nation of Cravan, recognizing the Wanderjarians as a potent military force despite their setbacks, invited them into the newly rising Global Alliance of Sovereign Nations (GASN). This new alliance, hoping to forge a defensive pact amongst freedom loving nations, would become a defender of the defenseless, and the bastion of righteousness which the world so desperately needed. Kaiser Baker II was honored to sign. The first test would come sooner than they realized, as another force was rising in the world, the greatest rival the Wanderjarians ever had, as potent as the Pudites and infinitely more shrewd. This force, coming from the African nation of the Blackhelm Confederacy, was the Griffincrest Corporation.

Chief Executive Officer Claudius Griffincrest. Enemy number one of the Wanderjarian Government and wanted by the international courts for innumerable crimes against humanity. He is the founder and President of the multinational oil corporation Griffincrest Co. With operations spread out all across the globe it is among the wealthiest and most expansive corporate entities to ever exist. It has legions of mercenary soldiers, well paid and well motivated, who do its bidding wherever Claudius sights a potential profit.

This time, he spied the nation of Four Corners, a backwards state which could scarcely keep itself together much less keep out an advanced foreign invader. The mercenary battle fleet, in cooperation with their reluctant allies in Ostia, proceeded to systematically eradicate the tiny nation’s small defensive fleet and landed forces. The Wanderjarians took note of this and immediately dispatched a carrier battle group which they had in the region, telling the Four Corner’s central Government to hold out for as long as it could.

When they arrived, they also would meet a nation known as The Peoples Freedom. Similar in history, these people agreed to assist the Wanderjarians and pursued the Ostian battlefleet which was nearest to them. Submarine craft from the two cooperating nations began picking off transport ships and escort craft, harassing the enemy fleet until they organized and began to attempt to fight back. It was then that the Wanderjarian and TPFian navies began to truly fight. Battleships, cruisers, and jet strike aircraft came to life, exchanging blows with the Ostian counter parts. In a matter of hours, all sides had lost several ships and the Ostian Admiral extended an Olive Branch. In an unexpected, and fortuitous show of mercy and honor, the Wanderjarian Admiral ordered the retrieval and rescue of all Ostian personnel, living or dead, to be returned to the Ostian flagship with all haste. Deeply moved by this, the Ostian Government began diplomatic contact with the Wanderjarian forces, and applied for membership in the GASN. The Wanderjarian Government had made for itself a “friend” for eternity. The TPFian Government would follow suit, but this would come after the war.

Now unopposed, both fleets turned to the Mercenary battle group. Meanwhile, Wanderjarian Marines landed in Four Corners and actively pursued the mercenary units which were scouring the countryside to secure. They ambushed a mercenary armor battalion, and eradicated it, forcing the hand of the Griffincrest troops into a full fledged retreat back to the coast. There they would find no respite, as it was being shelled by Wanderjarian and TPFian ships, and bombed by Wanderjarian Luftwaffe-Marine air units which had completely annihilated the Griffincrest air force.

The commander of the Mercenary forces, realizing that all was lost, begged an immediate cessation of hostilities and pulled his units out before the entirety of his fleet was lost. With metaphorical tail tucked between his legs, they retreated back to Africa. This would be far from the last encounter with Griffincrest forces, however…indeed far from it. The aftermath of the war would see Four Corners establish itself as a GASN protectorate and affiliate state, an enternal alliance between The PeoplesFreedom and Wanderjar, as well as Ostia as a staunch ally of the Wanderjarian Government and people.

Soon thereafter the forces of Wanderjar and Blackhelm would clash again upon GASN territory. Toopoxia, an allied state of the Blackhelm Confederacy would invade the nation of Liberated New Ireland, at that time the closest ally of the Red Empire of Wanderjar. The Wanderjarians deployed a force of ten Korps, or one million men to the Irish Republic to defend it. Penal units, made up of convicts, established themselves in entrenched positions on the beach head awaiting Toopoxian invasion. Behind rested the rest of the Wanderjarian army. As Toopoxian amphibious assault craft deployed infantry units onto the beach, the Wanderjarian troops unleashed sweeping amounts of fire power onto the beach. Mortar fire and long range artillery pounded the beach until the very sand was wet and slick with the blood of Toopoxian troops. Still they poured onto the sands, the bodies of the fallen piling upon each other as tens of thousands fell beneath the Wanderjarian fire. Still, with naval gunfire supporting the invasion with devestating accuracy, the Wanderjarians were forced to retreat to the city of Lublin behind the lines. Meanwhile, Griffincrest Mercenaries landed elsewhere, around Wanderjarian and GASN lines. Seeing this, the Wanderjarian Oberkommando das Heeres (Army High Command) Commander, again Feldmarschall Johann von Strauss, ordered two divisions of Armor to redeploy themselves with their Leopard 2A6 main battle tanks and supporting mechanised infantry units to halt the advance. In support the Army Aviation units sent dozens of EuroCopter Tiger attack helicopters to raid the enemy columns consisting of out dated T-55 battle tanks. This was met with limited resistance as they unleashed devestating volumes of fire onto the enemy positions. Smoke plumes filled the skies as burning hulks of armor littered the country side. Even before coming into range of the Wanderjarian armoured units the Mercenary Commander, knowing he faced execution with retreat and certain death of him and his men if he continued, opted to sacrifice his life to save his troops. They retreated back to their ships and fled, pursued by Wanderjarian F/A-18 aircraft. Soon thereafter Toopoxian troops were forced into retreat by the arrival of Cravanian naval ships. After the final rout, the bodies were cleared from Ireland's beaches, and the conflict was closed.

The near future would hold little conflict for the Wanderjarian people, at least no overt conflicts. This time gave birth to the reformed Grenzschutzgruppe-9, the elite Wanderjarian Border Guards. This team of highly trained and skilled special operations and counter terror teams would become among the best in the world, if not the most skilled and successful. Toopoxian and Griffincrest soldiers would pursue operations throughout various other nations, and would find themselves continually harrassed and set back by Wanderjarian GSG-9 operators, costing thousands of lives and untold billions of dollars in both corporation's profits. It was then that Toopoxian forces began "peacekeeping" operations in a small bordering state, and Griffincrest Mercenaries proceeded to assist in garrisoning the border. In the desert expanse, a battalion of mercenaries established themselves and were relatively at ease, considering themselves to be in an entirely friendly nation and away from the fighting going on across the border. This would prove to be a mistake which would truly change the world.

Twenty four GSG-9 Operators, two A-Teams (Assault) had hidden themselves in the dunes and prepared for an attack. Launching 40mm high explosive grenades into the resting camp, they killed dozens in the first second of the assault. Machinegunners opened fire into the confused camp garrison, scurrying about the perimeter seeking a means by which to defend themselves and simeltaneously shelter from the ominprescent fire which was being unleashed upon them. Riflemen placed well aimed shots at mercenaries, who were now fleeing the camp in droves across the border (delineated by a river). The Wanderjarian men advanced into the camp, and pursued the retreating Griffencrest forces, cutting them down until the last few survivors had left gun range. Wounded were gathered, and those still able to fight were restrained so that they would not be able to immediately take up arms against the soldiers as they themselves fled. Radio reports indicated that the base commander, now dead, had managed to signal for reinforcements and Toopoxian Government troops were on route to support the besieged base. Gathering themselves, and intelligence documents they could, and a number of dune buggy type vehicles in the base, they fled to the coast where they were exfiltrated by patrol boats to a Wanderjarian carrier battle group.

Operations such as this occurred innumerable times throughout this era, and this operation would normally have gone unsung had it not created a mass international incident. The Toopoxian Government was outraged, as was the Blackhelm Confederate Government, and thus they allowed Claudius Griffincrest the right to seek an international treaty. This would eventually become an agreement of mutual protection amongst various corporate entities and their respective host nations. The signed founding members were, The Griffincrest Corporation, Toopoxia, Leafanistan's Red Mafia, and others including the mysterious and evil Kraven Corporation. Wanderjarian meddling in Corporate affairs would, for ever after, become infinitely more difficult.

Kriegsmarine

Regions

These covered significant naval regions (commanded by a Generaladmiral or Admiral) and are themselves sub-divided, as necessary.

Squadrons
Each type of ship also has a command structure with its own Flag Officer. The commands are Battleships, Cruisers, Destroyers, Submarines, Torpedo Boats, Minesweepers, Reconnaissance Forces, Naval Security Forces, Big Guns and Hand Guns, and Midget Weapons.

Flotillas
Major naval operations were commanded by a Flottenchef. The commands are, by their nature, temporary and Flottenchefs are subject to transfer to other Flotillas at the whim of the Fuhrer.

Awesome factbook bro! We should have another RP sometime soon.

Thanks dude! And yes we do. Next time you've got an RP running TG me or IM it to me on AIM. I'm always online ya know, but the couple hours a day I'm not just offline it to me and I'll check it when I get back. And yes I did do my best to make you look appropriately bad ass and evil :P

And yes I did take a few liberties with history to make it more dramatic though I don't think I stretched anything too far. Whats funny is that so far what I've got is only up to about September 2006. I've got so much more to do haha

I'm finding some irony being slammed into my face where it says your nation is free-market yet you have a communist avatar and some ship names related to communism. Overall though, it's really good.

Yeah I deleted the tag that said I was reforming my government (it used to be very hardliner Communist) HOWEVER! Despite being a hardcore free market supporter, I do sympathise with numerous communist/socialist countries and like the ideals behind socialism. I guess alot of it stems from my Great Grandfather fighting in the Russian Revolution for the Bolsheviks and my own travels throughout Russia, China, etc. I used to be a hardcore Bolshevik but I've reformed over the years away from it. I do like the symbology though and use it frequently.

Thank you for the compliment though! And I'm actively looking for a better avatar ;)

One thing that I think is a bit strange is your huge number of battleships. Battleships are good for a bombardment role, but are not much good in an actual battle, where missiles and torpedoes rule. They're too slow and vulnerable to aircraft, as was shown when the great Bismarck or the huge Yamato were both destroyed.

Damn I need to organise my own military.
