No one knows how they managed to bypass all our defenses. All our early warning systems. Even everyone's insurance. All we know is this... They came in the night, like a fell wind. They massacred everyone to the last man, woman and child... They showed no mercy. Old Athen... Tir... Avalon... All of them have fallen. We are left with only two choices: Run... Or die.
In the desert, a figure in a rather gigantic black suit of power armor with distinct lines and orbs which glowed with a pale, white light, was running after a fleeing family of five, a mother, a father and three children - two of them so young that they had to be carried. They were unarmed. They were scared. The armor of the one running after them was covered with fresh blood. Bits of human entrails remained on the blades which were on the forearms of the armor.
All they could do was run.
"Targets sighted," said a voice in the comms of the black armor as it continued to run after the group. "Acknowledged," was the only reply.
All the family could hear was the snaps on the sand once the firing began. They had no time to even realize what hit them. Their last moments were those of excruciating pain as a hail of high caliber gunfire ripped their bodies apart, mangling them beyond recognition.
The armored figure stopped next to the remains and turned around.
"Targets eliminated. Objectives have been met. Requesting transportation."
"Confirmed, #74910. We are sending a transport to extract you and your squad."
"Very well," he said.
He glanced at the remains one more time before going back to the extraction point. While it was a horrible sight, he wouldn't lose any sleep over it. In the war against the Clans, there were no civilians. Only hostile combatants. They had chosen to rise up in arms against the Corporation. They were the enemy.
If they chose to not carry arms, that was their own mistake.

System MW-K-2901 (Dominion Designation)
IFV Clee-San, Advance Recon/Scientific Observation Vessel
Attached to 12th CVBG (Somtaaw)
The Clee-San hung there, like a kwanji ready to fall from its vine, a scant kilometer from the lower extreme of the system's oort cloud. Barely larger than a frigate, the Clee-San's line of science vessels were the smallest vessels in the Dominion with an independent Shaw-Fujikaw drive. They were also a dying breed. Newer and more heavily-armed warships were beginning to take the place of the science vessel in this hostile galaxy.
Not that it mattered now, mused Jefet'ne Alexander Somtaaw. A graying man, the commander-equivalent had obviously reached the end of his career. This command would be his last, and even then it was designed to keep him out of the way.
"Begin scanning of sector nine, full wattage. Let's finish this up quick," said the Jefet'ne. He hated the cramped quarters of the frigate, and all of his five-man crew were fresh-faced Hadat that hadn't even seen combat yet. Their incessant chattering was grinding down his patience.

A small fleet of odd, green ships flew lazily towards the ground just outside the outer walls of Omni-1. It was somewhat unusual, although at that particular day it had happened a couple of times; considering the distinct lack of defenses above the cities, the aliens usually just dropped right in. Presumably because they knew that their ships couldn't be shot down over the cities without causing considerable damage to them. Kind of basic tactics.
"There comes another one!", shouted a trooper in light, black powered armor, as automated surface-to-air defenses came to life and began firing missiles at the intruders. One missile after another hit their intended targets, as though they weren't even trying to evade.
"What the hell's wrong with them today? They're not even trying."
Another trooper in the same kind of armor next to the man shrugged.
"Damned if I knew. They have been acting a bit strange after the Event."
"... You aren't really listening to that crap, are you?"
"Well, they say we haven't had contact with anyone outside RK in the last month or so. I think it makes sense."
The largest of the green ships blew up in a ball of fire, throwing debris all over the place.
"Whoa!"
"And that's that," said the first trooper quite matter-of-factly, looking downwards and shaking his head.
A third voice came on the comms.
"Hey guys, I'm seeing movement in the forest!"
The trooper quickly raised his head.
"Wha...? Oh hell! Contact!"
Green creatures began to swarm from the forest, with troopers all over firing at them frantically as the automated defenses came to life. A line of Scourge-class Slayerdroids rose up from holes in the ground. It was, in some ways, quite routine, but this time the aliens almost caught them off-guard.
Emphasis on the word "almost".
Soon, the ground was littered with the mangled corpses of alien creatures of several kinds: Some of them were quadrupeds, others snake-like, others closer to spiders. It was only a part of the assault force as most of it had blown up with their ships. But this was the kind of mindless devotion the aliens showed. They cared not how many of them would die. Nor had it been proven that they actually were sentient. Their masters probably were, but who knew about the regular soldier.
Lucky for anyone at the scene, at least they didn't have to clean up the mess.

"Sir," said one of the Hadat, looking up from his blinking console. He was already plugged in, the CNI at the base of his skull sprouting a long and armored cord like some otherworldly vine. "I've got some strange readings here. Scanners are having a hard time penetrating this region of space..."
Alexander Somtaaw waved off the Hadat and cued up the information for himself. Instantly the full scan results were uploaded into his brain and shown to his mind's eye. There was a large patch of "dead" space and, while his wasn't uncommon, what was odd was the fact that it was moving.
The Somtaaw Jefet'ne sent a command to the fusion torch engines, which roared to life. The Hadat started at the sudden acceleration, then went back to their tasks. Alexander then brought online the communications system and sent a short burst transmission through the Slipstream drive back to the fleet.
If he was wrong, and this was a stellar phenomenon, then Somtaaw scientists would want to be the first to examine it.
If he was right, then chances were that they would need more firepower than their pair of 50mm kinetic turrets.

They have to get a command from central to actually engage any enemies. Also, if its a small conflict, there is no way in hell my goverment is going to have two ships like this wasting their time.

Three of the Goliath battlestations began tracking the Worldslayers the moment they appeared in planetary orbit. The automated stations could not find any matches for the ships in their databases. But since they didn't resemble the vessels of the alien invaders, the stations did not fire.
Although that could change with a moment's notice.
But while the scans from the battlestations were quite unintrusive and only meant for speedy recognition of incoming vessels, the alien ship was a different issue altogether. Once it began its scan, there was no doubt as to what was its intent; it was hostile, and it was determined to find out whatever secrets the ships held.
While it was doing so, a sizeable contingent of smaller ships broke away from it and began advancing towards the Worldslayers with obvious malign intent. What they hoped to achieve was anybody's guess; it wasn't like these alien lifeforms had been showing any survival instincts to begin with.
And whilst all this was going on, a transmission was sent from the ground.

"Someone" has indeed laid a claim on this planet. As per the rewritten lease agreement of 29444 between the Interstellar Conferedation of Corporations and the hypercorporation Omni-Tek, we are the rightful owners of this planet and everything that is on it. As such, any assault on the planet will be considered an act of war and will be dealt with accordingly. The battlestations around the planet will make sure of that.
As to "what is going on" here, that should be quite obvious. We are at war with hostile alien lifeforms. They do not respond to anything but return fire. I'm sure you'll be "greeted" by them soon enough.

<Understood, we have no intention to participate in someone else's war, thankyou. And we also have no wish to assault your planet, we just stumbled upon this place.>
One Worldslayer activated PSR, a form of travel unique to Greywatch, the rift created was similar to a black hole, it sent out massive gravity fluxes but luckily the two ships weer far away enough from everything else that the rift wouldn't damage anything. The ship dissapeared into the massive rift and was gone. The other ship began to pull away fomr the planet but first sent out a scanner pulse. The smaller ships were a bother, no one knew what they were planning, long range sensors picked up something else but it wasn't clear what... yet.

As it were, the aliens obviously did not care about the desires of the newcomers as they began their assault against them as well. While the initial assault consisted "only" of a few hundred vessels in the size range of a few hundred meters at most and just a few meters at their smallest, the swarm which had changed course towards the remaining Worldslayer just grew larger and larger. How, exactly, was it even possible, especially considering the war they had been waging against the inhabitants of the planet below, was anybody's guess; but their numbers seemed near unlimited.
That, however, was somewhat an exercise in futility, as the Goliath battlestations easily shot most of them down as they attempted to attack the newcomers. Usually the battlestations were not quite as effective at destroying such massive amounts of alien vessels at once, as they stayed beneath their carrier ship and thus out of harm's way, but now they were exposed and vulnerable to their entire arsenal of weaponry, which, indeed, was impressive. An endless barrage of various types of missiles combined with gigantic lasers and pulse cannon fire that seemed to cut through the alien ships like butter, leaving but a small trickle in place of what was an enormous swarm.
Any scans of the massive alien vessel, which continued to lazily travel across the planet while apparently inside its atmosphere, an impossible feat for most vessels of its sheer size as they would be ripped apart by the natural forces affecting them, would be inconclusive. As though impeded by some unknown force. Whatever the reason was, it somehow resisted scanning, all the while it itself was capable of doing so.

The Worldslayer backed off even more upon seeing the swarm of apparently hostile ships, and then saw as they were all ripped apart.
<So we're going to assume that these things only care about killing and nothing more, Seeing as they just attempted an attack on our ship without so much as a communication. What are these things? If you don't mind me asking.>
The PSR generators were on standby, if the Greywatch ship had to leave, it would. And if there was no good response, it probably wouldn't be coming back to this system for awhile.

In the city of Omni-1, a man in a black uniform was watching over a console, reading over reports of current activities of the various departments of Omni-Tek's Rubi-Kan branch to pass the time. There hadn't been pretty much any contact with people from the outside, anyway, so he didn't have much to do. If one doesn't count having talked to someone from a ship the systems couldn't recognize.
He was the one in charge of contact with incoming vessels, after all. Scheduled runs, pretty much always...
Except today, as he found out when another transmission was requiring his attention.
"... Another one?"
He sighed.
"Figures. Always has to be more than one."
He listened to the transmission, and, quite unsurprisingly, replied to it.

And then another transmission came through. This time from the people he had talked with before. It was becoming painfully obvious that they had no idea about the importance of the planet, or about what was going on in it. Something strange had happened. That much was certain.
Another sigh, and another response.
OMNI-TEK of Rubi-Ka - Omni-1
Be good!
There isn't much to tell. No one knows where exactly they came from or why, or at least no one's telling. What we do know is that they employ some kind of organic technology and seem to do everything we do with machines with some kind of organic equivalent. Their ships? Organic. Their armor? Organic. Hell, they even use some kind of viral equivalent of the nano programs we use.
It's kind of a good thing they don't really pose much of a threat, though. They rely heavily on numbers and really lack in the quality department. And we aren't going to run out of weapons nor ammo any time soon. And with the insurance technology, we aren't running out of people, either.

The man scratched his head, wondering what was that all about in the first place. Just to cause him more work? He knew he'd have to make a full report on this, as they weren't Omni-Tek ships. Nor were they of any other known class. Even a new group of alien ships would've made things easier for him. At least he wouldn't have to do anything about it.
He sighed again. Now he'd have to wait for the other unidentified ship to respond to his earlier query... And who knew how many others might be around. He felt it in his bones that the next few days, if not weeks, were going to be a paper hell for him.

Considering that they have been assaulting our positions for the last four or so years with very little damage to any of the settlements and that they cannot even blockade the planet itself, meaning that transportation on to and off the planet has been disrupted only slightly, it could be said that they have "no sense of self-preservation".
Although we cannot be sure if losing as many ships as they have even counts as heavy losses for them, or if the countless "soldiers" they have lost while fighting us matters to them. But one can only wonder what they seek to accomplish with their continuing "invasion".
For a moment he thought whether the aliens had similar insurance technology as they did... But only for a moment. Although, in his mind, it could explain how they can keep throwing in troops constantly.

"... That still doesn't explain how they managed to do this, now does it," said a man in a slightly tattered business suit. They were in a tent of some kind. Obviously a very temporary solution before they'd start moving again.
"You're right, mister Jacobi," said another man in a reddish, worn suit of armor, ""But it's obvious that something's happened. We haven't been able to intercept any communications between the Omnis and incoming traffic in the last weeks. And then they started this slaughter. Hell. And we've heard of only a few groups similar to ours..."
"And we lost contact with even those some time ago, am I right?"
"Yes..."
At this point, a man rushed into the tent, panting heavily.
"They're..." he said, still panting.
Jacobi's eyes widened. He could already see where this was going. They had been found.
"They're HERE!"
Holes suddenly filled the entryway to the tent as the man's body was torn apart by hundreds of rounds from some weapon. Soon afterwards, a high-explosive round of some kind obliterated what was left of the tent, killing everyone inside.
In mere minutes, the entire encampment had been destroyed. All that was left of it were burning remains. Those who had managed to start fleeing were hunted down to the last man, woman and child, as in so many other places. The attackers knew no mercy, and took no prisoners. Every person who was affiliated with the Clans were to be exterminated.
Indeed, the Clans were facing complete annihilation.

"ANOTHER shipment?!", yelled a large man in mixed anger and bewilderment as another convoy of land freighters came through the gates, "Haven't they heard we have nowhere to actually send this stuff right now?!"
Another man who stood beside the first one, sighed deeply. He was like the polar opposite of the other man as well: he was calm and in control. His skin was notably grey, also, and he was of average height, whilst the other man was about half a meter taller than what would be considered average.
"They can't stop mining until they get the order, you know," he said, "Even if we're running out of space to store the notum in."
The first man snorted aggravatedly and glanced down at the second man.
"YEAH. I know! I know! But why haven't they received that order yet?! We've told them a billion times this place's gettin' full to the brim!"
"My guess is that the higher ups want this place to be filled to the brim, as you so eloquently stated," said the second man, "So when we're ready to start shipping notum out, we can do so at a moment's notice. With such a long disruption in notum shipments... You know they'll need a lot of it."
"Doesn't mean I gotta like it, though!"
"That is correct," responded the second man with a slight grin on his face while looking down to a paper-like contraption, "Looks like after this one we'll be full. So you can relax once they're gone. For now."
"Bah," said the first man, looking up in the sky, "We'll soon be neck deep in work... When they get all the stuff sorted out and we start shipping stuff out again."
The second man nodded without raising his eyes from the thing in his hands.
The man was correct, as the only Cannons capable of hurling large enough quantities of the stuff into orbit were in that particular facility. There would be a lot of work to be done once contact with client-corporations has been re-established. Even though no one knew if that was ever going to happen again.

At this point it was crystal clear that everything was not the way they were supposed to be. No contact with Omni Prime seemed to be possible. The only contact with the Galaxy at large they had had by now had been with groups they had never seen or heard of before.
And on top of that, the night sky seemed... Almost... Alien. The stars were not exactly where they were supposed to be. There were discrepancies on top of discrepancies. It was as though there were a multitude of new stars that hadn't been there before, and even the old ones, the ones they knew, were somewhat off their positions; and it wasn't simply because they had reached their current position at a different point in the cycle. They just weren't exactly where they were supposed to be.
And so, it was decided that scouting parties would be sent off-system to find out what this... Peculiarity was really about. They would consist of a few relatively small vessels so as to, if possible, avoid detection, or at least avoid seeming like a threat.
Was this truly a different Galaxy, or even a different Universe? Or had they been jolted in time? They had to find out.
