Zinairian Naval Forces Withdraw from Juntastanian Front
July 4, 2008

S. ZINAIRIAN NAVAL FACILITIES– Today, the Zinairian Tropical Promise Carrier Strike Group, which had been moving into position at the fringe of Juntastanian naval claims, was ordered to return home by Gregory Bishop himself. The Military Authority cited unexpectedly high casualties among the international force stations near Juntastan as well as repeated threats of nuclear force by both sides as the reason for the withdrawal.

Minister of Defense Sir Henry Norton also issued a lengthy statement independent of the official Military Authority press release:

"I feel that the entire situation got horrifically and regrettably out of hand. The Tropical Promise and its group were deployed as a deterrent for what I, the Military Authority and the Zinairian government as a whole believe to be state-ordered piracy on the part of Juntastan. However, forces that arrived there prior to the Zinairian strike group started seeing high casualties as well as some pretty barbaric tactics on the part of the Juntastanians. Partially because of these tactics, what was supposed to be an international fleet deterring piracy quickly became a mess of squabbling and premature action against Juntastan. This drew some criticism from the international community and we just didn't want to be a part of that."

Sir Norton was asked if Zinaire would be mediating any discussions between Juntastan and the attack parties. He replied simply that they would not.

The Juntastanian conflict originated with a demand by their theocratic government to remove all satellites from orbit over Juntastan as images of their holy sites are seen to be sacrilegious. The international community has been given one week to remove satellites from the nation's "airspace" before they are shot down. Zinaire has made it clear that its satellites will continue to pass over Juntastan.

Tropical Storm Brian Heading for Zinaire
July 4, 2008

BELLE-COTE– Late last night, the Zinairian Weather Institute, based in Belle-Côte was alerted of Tropical Storm Brian. The storm is currently located 2,300 miles ESE of Zinaire City. This places Brian well on the other side of the East Caribbean island chain. Winds inside Tropical Storm Brian are at nearly 75 km/h and the storm is moving west, towards Zinaire, at approximately 27 km/h. Some experts are expecting Brian to become a hurricane within three days and he is expected to continue moving west for five days.

Andrew Hyde, a meteorologist at the Zinairian Weather Institute issued this statement on behalf of the organization:

"Frankly, Tropical Storm Brian poses almost no threat to the people or cities of Zinaire. The storm will hit the East Caribbean islands before it reaches us and that may slow or stop it. If it does continue past that island chain, it will, at its current heading, run aground south of the White Mountains on an unpopulated portion of the island around 250 km east of Tiamona."

Zinairian officials are not treating this as a serious threat to the county, but rescue forces have been put on alert should the storm's path change."

OOC: I like yours, too. I wish I remembered the proper format with the location in caps preceding the article. Ah well, I'll just say that's not how Santheres does it. Nice graphic, too. Way to one-up me. =P

OOC: But you improved it and that's what counts. Okay, enough of me cluttering your thread, though.
