Pax Sonoma

*All the large video screens in Central Sonoma City, change from what they were playing to a breaking news alert, and people stop in their tracks to take notice. This is happening in every corner of The Republic, as everything grinds to a halt. The Video Feed is sent by Satellite to every corner of the globe, as tiny Sonoma makes huge news.*

News Anchor: We've got some breaking news on some major shake-ups in Sonoma City, thanks for joining us. As you know, Our President, Sheldon Hightower was removed forcefully from office last night and his whereabouts and condition are both unknown. The Four Term President, who was reelected in a landslide over his opponent, PAXCO CEO Bryan Miller, has come under heavy fire for his reaction to the massive fire that killed hundreds of thousands of Sonomans in the eastern region. As well as the collapse of the Sono, which has become all but worthless on the world market.

Wait, I'm getting word that we have an update, lets got to Les Carter. He's at the Capitol Building, Les?

Reporter: Thanks Susan, Yes I've just been told, by a source, that President Hightower is alive, and safe, but no longer in control of the government. I've also been told that PAXCO Chairman Miller will be making some kind of statement, about his possible role in this chain of events. Any moment now, Miller and the PAXCO Board will be making an announce...

*The PAXCO Logo covers the screens as the Reporter is cut off in mid thought. The Logo Fades to a shot of the Board of Directors of PAXCO, sitting at a large conference table with Miller at the head of the table. The Camera zooms to a close-up of just Miller.*

Miller: People of Sonoma, My name is Bryan Miller, I am the Chief Executive Officer of PAXCO. A lot of Rumors about what has been going on In Sonoma City have been spread over the last few hours. I'm here to put some of them to rest. First Off, President Hightower was not forced out of office, but instead stepped down, he did so in front of the Diet, in a special closed door session, early this morning. In his farewell address, he talked about how he felt personally responsible for the Deaths in Eastern Sonoma, from the Great Fire. He also said, that at his age, he could not handle the stress of this, and felt it was best to step down. Currently he is at the Presidential Residence, preparing for this peaceful transfer of power. We honor his lifetime of public service, but agree with his decision. He is a great man, who will always have our respect.

That being said, the nature of things in our nation have not been good. The Hightower government left our country in economic ruins. Our tiny nation has felt this. You know what I am saying, when I say that it can be better. Our money is useless, or trading partners take advantage of this fact, while our jobs go to distant shores. Here at PAXCO, we've made it a point to employ Sonomans first, and this has never changed. Even at great economic disadvantage, we believe that Sonomans come first. We've put hundreds of thousands of Sonomans to work, and there's a PAXCO in every neighborhood, town and city in Sonoma. We provide you with quality products at the lowest prices possible, not because we it helps our bottom line, but because it helps you. PAXCO is a name Sonomans trust. And we trust that you will take a moment and look at how This government has kept you down so long.

In the last twenty years, since Mr. Hightower was first elected, his government has regulated every aspect of your lives. What you can eat, what you can drink, what you do to your own bodies. He told you it was for the greater good. He told you to stop driving the cars you wanted to drive, and made those cars illegal. He held back science, because of some code of ethics from a bygone era. He did all of this because he thought it was right, and his government fell in line behind him.

He told the Logging Industry to stop cutting down trees, and look what happened. When the fire came, there was no stopping it, and so many good people died. He did this to "Save the Planet", but who saved the brave fire fighters, who died on the front lines? Who saved the summer camp full of children in Tonopah, when the fire came for them? Mr. Hightower might as well have lit the match that killed one hundred and fifty thousand people.

We forgive him, but we can not forget.

After the Closed Session of the Diet last night, the government of Hightower folded up tent, and left town under cover of darkness. We have been left in a state of anarchy, and this can not be. Therefore, as the most trusted name in Sonoma, for doing what is right for Sonoma, The Board of Directors of PAXCO has assumed temporary control of the federal government of the Republic of Sonoma. This is necessary to ensure stability, and will only last as long as it needs to. I do not take this lightly, and it goes against everything I personally believe in, but I must put my own personal beliefs aside for Sonoma, at it's great people. We will now in complete openness hold an election for a Leader. We would leave this up to the people, but there just isn't time for that now.

*The Camera Pulls Back to show the entire board of Directors.*

Miller: I nominate Mr. Price.

Price: I nominate Mr. Miller.

*A long pause*

Miller: Are there any other nominations?

*Pause Again*

Miller: We will now cast our votes by secret ballot.

*The People at the table write down their votes on pieces of paper and hand them to the man seated next to Miller. The counts the votes and writes the results down, handing it to Mr. Price, who looks at the results, and hands them to Miller. Miller hands the results back to Mr. Price.*

Price: The Results are as follows, One vote for Me, Twelve votes for Mr. Miller.

*The Camera Zoom back to Miller.*

Miller: I am truly humbled by these results, and what it means for me personally, and for Sonoma. I will strive to do my best, in this difficult time, and always for the people of Sonoma. We will be making some changes to the way things are, and it will be welcomed changes I'm sure. We will be keeping the great people of Sonoma updated on these changes, and look forward to your feedback. Now if you excuse me, I have the people's work to do. Thank you.

*The PAXCO logo appears, then cuts back to a stunned News Anchor.*

News Anchor: What can I say? We're going to take a break, and go over this with the best political team in Sonoma.

*The First Commercial is of course the ever present PAXCO Store Advertisement.*
