The Company 1989 [Character RP/Open/MT]
Basically I am bored, I don't really have time to do partake in any Earths, but maybe character RPs yes. This time round, I would take and modify the "World In Conflict" Scenario. Basically, the year is 1989, the Soviet Union, rather than collapsing peacefully, decided to do an all out war on the West, in a last ditch effort to maintain its survival. Basically the Company would be the Baker Company of 1st Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. Although a draft would have begun, the 4th Infantry Division is made up of professionals, hence, please do not state that your character was drafted in your character Bio. The setting for now would be Southern France, and the date, 19th March 1989.
Signing Up
Basically, do a simple biography of the character you would be RPing as. In the format below.
Name:
Age:
Height:
Weight:
Veteran of (List Wars):
Short Biography:
Photo (If Available):
How does your character die?
Your character wouldn't get KIA if your realistic in your actions. However, running straight at T-72s or BRDMs attempting to place charges would obviously get you killed. Unstated inactivity would also get you killed. Basically, in simpler terms, stay active and keep away from god modding to ensure survival.
Kit issuing & Ranks
Kits will be issued ICly, when the story goes. I would also browse through the biographies to suit your character's needs. Also, your character can get promoted through certain actions, or skill in leadership, also note there would be players playing as Squad Leaders from the start, but remember keep realism into play.
Basically that's about it, I would start as soon as we get enough people.

Carter's battalion was badly damaged in the initial attack and was ordered back to France to regroup with the reeling US forces and to be reinforced.

I believe organization is more important than men, also I have stated the short period of time which the men have.
Did you check my updated bio on the second page?
Obviously yes, that's why I accepted you, and your name has been added!

For your information: The 39th was shut down in '82, it's prolly been reactivated, explaining our seperation from combat.
Several more important tidbits: The 4th division is mechanised circe 89'
a standard squad is 9 men, 11 for a light division, for a mech, it's 6 regular, plus 3 manning the vehicle, i'll give specifics if you ask

Could you give me the link? The 39th Regiment wasn't deactivated, it was transferred after the 9th Division when deactivated to the 4th Division.
Sorry for the bad IC post, I thought Steve was in reference to the Colonel :p

I have a couple, the main one is a 1989 ORBAT for the entire NATO, I got the 82' to somewhere in the 90's deactivation from wikipedia's entry on the 39th, I'm guessing it was reactivated for training in early 90's.

I think you have misread the Wiki article, the 9th Division was deactivated, the 39th being in the 9th, was transferred to the 4th due to this.

Kind of.
Anyways, the 4th is mechanized, so we get to sit in M113's until we die or get out.

With only one side to RP, I've seen that a lot of godmoding will occur. Plus, I'm a communist. Why can't I RP as such, when it makes sense?

Why isn't falkasia's character on the list? he was accepted
_______gear assignments.....maybe???
we should have someone acting as a medic. (me maybe???)
we should have an mg gunner
a sniper (guess who)
if someone joins later they should be from an AT group and he gets into our squad at the front type thing (wouldnt work in RL but anywho)
a sergeant (obviously)
a radio man for the 'toon
and the rest of us should be rifle men along with the NPCs
_____gear itself
any personal items
small medkit (gauze,tape,scissors,disinfectent,etc)
weapon cleaning kit depending on your assigned wep
binoculars (should be in personal i guess)
knife (im giving a V4-combat knife to those iv met and made friends with)
clothing obviously
for the mountaneering hiking boots
canteen
sleeping bag
ammo
weapons

We have a sarge
We have a gunner
We have a Anti-tankman (an AT-4 is an anti-tank launcher, we got equipment on page 6 or 7, maybe 5
We have a radio
We need a medic!!
We Kinda have a sniper (He assigned his own gear because the host forgot to put him on the list to begin with, but he was accepted)
alright then. iw was just throwing ideas out there. i would gladly be the medic, since in real life thats what i would want to be. Also i imagined him as a medic looking guy. young guy with spindly glasses type thing. will find a pic hopefully:cool:

Technicly we need another Sergeabt, as my guy is German and therefore can;t be in command.
im canadian and this seems to be an american division. they would also put those who had first hand experience fighting the soviets in powerful positions, espeacially if their rank was more than a corporal. if youv read "the ten thousand" by Harold Coyle then thats the same idea. except reversed.

Since when do rules of any kind get enforced in wartime, you are a member of a nation allied with us, rather closely, and we are fighting together. You also speak english.
I beleive that all we require is a Stinger soldier and a medic.
well i can fill in the medic please????don tknow about the stinger soldier. any takers???

kinda funny lol. we should do a time skip until a day or two when we move out. it just saves alot of time, and we get to do something other than the normal barracks type. we should have a training bit. the CO goes over our basic training etc.that way we all know what to do and what we can do.
Sorry, been busy over the weekends, and when I am not, Jolt was down! :upyours:
