.................................................................................................... ...
Nadia Droga was a 21 yearold university student living in a Terevesti. She shared a cramped flat with Zoya Lenacu who was also 21 and attended Milencu University (The University was renamed after the May 8th Coup)
There sterile apartment block was just as symetrical as all the rest in the neighborhood and was situated on Provoçe Avenue. It was close the grand 10 meter statue of the late President Provoçe and the hall of the Party and the Provoçe Square.
The Flat was only 1 bedroom and so Nadia and Zoya had turns sleeping in the bed while the other slept on the sofa in the lounge. it changed every week.
Both the woman served in the Bulgislavian Womens Army for 6 months when they were 19 then they both went to University. they were childhood friends and grew up in the nieghboring city of Creçea then moved to Terevesti for the university. During the coup Nadia and Zoya were in the crowd on Provoçe square when the coup broke out but quickly made it back to thier flat unharmed. For the last 2 months they have just been attending thier classes.
Both of them studied architecture
1st July 2008. Terevesti, Bulgislavia
Nadia was an attractive woman. with long black hair past her shoulders, she was slim with an athletic body type. Zoya had a more hourglass figure and light brown hair.
Both of the woman were sitting in the lounge watching thier small TV.
Nadia and Zoya managed to convince a friend who was a bit of a technical whizz to recieve a foriegn station and for all of last week they watched Bulgian TV (Bulgia is a Bulgislavian Ally north of Bulgislavia)
Bulgian TV was much more stimulating and not as boring, one sided and all propaganda then Bulgislavian TV.
All foriegn broadcasts were illegal and being caught watching a foriegn TV or listening to a foriegn radio station could find you in a labour camp for one year plus a hefty fine
All Bulgislavian TV's automatically turned off after 8pm when the restricted 2 hours were over. All Bulgislavian TV consisted of was footage of the Milencu's glorifying them plus more government propaganda
After one of thier neighbors was arrested by plain clothed Cigouriva Nadia and Zoya never watched illegal broadcasts again and got their friend to reset thier TV not to pick up a foriegn station.
.......................................................................................
They were watching some footage of the Milencu's state tour of Bulgislavia that took place last month. it had been just the same footage of Ion and Irena walking thorugh applauding crowds and grand shows. its all that seemed to be on TV and even the 30 minutes of news was just talking about the great health and progress of the nation.
Nadia had her feet up on the coutch.
"So you and Mikail eh?" she said to Zoya
"What? What about Mikail!?" she said defensivly
"Anything going on between you two?"
"Are you serious, no, just friends" she replied
"Zoya we tell each other everything! just tell me what you think of him"
"I know we tell each other everything which means there must not be anything to tell about Mikail"
"Ok but just so you know, I think he's nice, you should go on a date with him....." just as Nadia finished her sentence everything went dark
(Blackouts and power shotages are common in Communist Bulgislavia)
"shit! another one, whats that the 3rd one today!? I hope is isnt as long as the last one!" said Zoya
"Ah get over it, when was the last time Bulgislavia didnt have a power crisis, I though you would be use to it by now, I'll get the candles" said Nadia
It was completely black but as powercuts were common Nadia kept the candles and matches in an easy to reach place.
She lit 2 candles and melted some wax onto 2 plates and then stuck the candle onto the plates and placed them at different corners of the small lounge.
"Anyway Zoya I think you should just marry Mikail, have the required 5 children like a good patriot and live in this flat... I'll be single, have no children, fined and then sent to prison for being childless which actually leaves the flat open for you, Mikail and your 5 children" joked Nadia
"Oh shut up, the way you keep going on about Mikail i'd say you were the one in love!"
The two sat up talking for a while and then after an hour, with the power still out they went to sleep. Nadia was in the bedroom for this week
Zoya was on the sofa in the lounge.
Every flat had a portrait of Milencu fixed above the kitchen doorway which looked over the lounge.
Before March it use to be a Portrait of Provoçe, then Alia and his reforms called for the removal of all protraits and cult of personality but with Ion Milencu's coup it was ordered that all flats, houses and apartments contain Milencu Portraits.
They kept it clean, after all not taking care of your Milencu portrait could cost you 3 months wage and if its in a terrable condition or covered with anything, could find yourself in prison for 3 months
