A Second Chance: FT, Closed, ATTN: Kewen, BF, Deata

Greywatch
29-06-2008, 19:24
It was approximently two months after the incident that had occured in Deatan space, an event that nearly brought two races to the brink of war. Greywatch had promised to resolve the situation and after a long court process, the colonizers of Blasphemous Fish were given the chance to co-colonize a new system. Despite much scepticism, Deatan forces were allowed to accompany the BF and Greywatch colonizers to the new system.

It had taken about a week and a half to find a system that met BF colonization standards. The energy signatures of a system could be picked up from Pressure Space. As the rift opened up, the group was met by the sight they'd been waiting to see for so long now, a perfect system. Twin suns; five planets, two of them were gas giants possessing quite a few moons; and an asteroid belt. It would make a great location for a joint-colony.

As the PSR opened up, the ships slowly shuffled out.

<This is Worldstarter Hive, as you know, we can't move for a few minutes due to the amount of energy that required. For that reason, you should go on ahead of us, we'll catch up. Scan the surfaces of the planets and determine if there is anyone of interest, make sure trhese places can be made habitable.>

With that, the Worldstarter closed the PSR, the Deatans and BF forces were at its side. It was time for a new start, a second chance, especially for the BF colonizers.

OOC: Okay, so here it is finally, sorry if its a crap intro but I was kinda in a rush. Anywho, got to go now.

<We copy Hive, moving out.>

Admiral Armstrong stood at ease on the bridge of his commander carrier, The Saint. The Blasfisian fleet deployed around the newly repaired colony vessels... this was what they'd been waiting for.

'Okay people, lets do this right!' enthused the Admiral over the NCI frequency.

'Intrepid, find me the legrange point between those two stars, position yourselves there and give me a full scan. From that position, given time, your sensors should be able to fully scan each planet in the system.'

'Copy that admiral, moving out.' replied Captain Ellis as the graceful BF-1401 effortlessly slipped out of formation.

'Miraxxes and Atreydies, move in as close as you can to those gas giants and get me a full sweep. Lets see which one would suit us.'

'Yes sir.' The captains replied in unison as their own vessels twisted away to carry out their orders.

'Colony vessels, move in-system, prepare to deploy as soon as we've found the optimal positions for you.'

'All recieved, moving in-system.' Came the reply as the huge disk-shaped ships pushed forward on their rebuilt engines with the remaining BF-1401s in formation around them. 'We're holding steady sir, engine readings are all green. Those Greywatch techs really know their stuff!'

Armstrong kept the Saint in position near the emergence zone with the massive Greywatch world starter, still recovering from jumping the large fleet of ships all at once, and the deatan fleet.

<This is Armstrong to Hive and Deatan flagship, we're sending you sensor images from our BF-1401 in the very centre of the system holding position between the two stars. Feel free to move in at your leisure and establish yourselves. We're eager to get things up and running!>

ooc: do you mind if I bump into a different civilization (I control, but not really Deatan, like playing two sides)?

<Of course>, replied the Muse. Admiral Atos had upgraded yet again. <We are beginning a planetary sweep of the nearby rock planet.> He sent out its coordinates.

The crew was hardly thrilled to be here, and he couldn't blame them. A mere two months ago, they had been about to kill all the Blasfisian soldiers in the colonization fleet, and detain the civilians indefinitely. thanks to Greywatch intervention then and direct imperial orders now, they were currently stuck helping them colonize a new system. The great amount of "friendliness" coming from the BFs didn't help either, and it was paid back in kind. well, the sooner they finished this, the sooner they could leave.

OOC: I suppose.
IC:

<Worldstarter Hive, moving out now.>

The Workldstarter began pushing forward to the planet closest to the twin suns. Officers scurried, one looked up from his controls, "Captains, those two suns are maintaining a perfect balance, they appear to be spinning around one another almost but not moving closer to each other. The planets are orbiting them as they would any other sun." A captain looked back, "Scan the moons of the gas giants, find some moons that are habitable and lay claim to them and the gas giant. Then move closer to the planet closest to the suns, its most likely a desert world full of canyons and the like, we need one of those." The officer nodded, "Yes sir." The other Greywatch frigates broke off flying to the gas giants to help with scans as Hive moved closer to the center of the system.

OOC: I'll give kewen an excuse to get involved at some point if that's cool with everyone?

IC:

'Admiral, this is Ellis, all planets surveyed, I'm relaying preliminary results to you now.'

'Colonisation vessels, move in on the second planet from the nearst star and the gas giant in that star's orbit. Standard procedures are to be followed, deployed the defence platforms as soon as you're stable in orbit. After that land and get secured planet side on the second planet and deploy your manufacturing modules and particle scoop from orbit around the gas giant.'

'Intrepid, any signs of life in-system?'

'Simple organisms and bacteria on most of the habitable planets... nothing dangerous so far... but we're getting some peculiar readings from the planet the Deata fleet are heading for... there's no background radiation whatsoever... which is most unusual...'

'What could have caused that?'

'I couldn't speculate sire.'

<This is Armstrong to Hive, direct you senors to these co-ordinates... confirm, no back ground radiation... have you come accross this before?>

ooc: hmmm signatures well the location of this isnt specified ! i might as weel says its on the fringes of my space and i dont technically "colonise worlds" infact 60% of my space is unnocupied we live mainly on the planets with collecion pools as such we dont much care if you colonies the remianders in our system but make one twitch at a collection pool and we will do something!. also if you guys have a problem with me already having aa colony or claim its my space i have a second itropost for this i can throw in
IC:

On the far side of the planet (one specified by BF) not much activity was going on, in fact to all kewen currently near the planet they hadnt ever registered the Greywatch ships and thats a feat considering the signals put out by their arrival,

Most if not everyone in few ships in orbit of the far side of the rocky planet were skeleton crew as most personel were down below on the planet with the "collection pools".

The side of the planet the other fleets could see seemed normal but., on the other side it was completely different Vast Silverly pools dotted its surface and large pillars were being formed from them and jutted out into the air small creatures ran across the ground in a hurry seeking out their respective spots.

"SssssssIRE!, We have been sssssso foolissssh enough not to keep an eye out otherssssss have ventured into this sssssyssstem" Came a voice from within the dimly lit control room abord the Battle Crusier Instigator
"Sssssssssso what are you waiting for wake the otherssss and meet them" replied a more deeper darker voice.

The Instigator and its twin the Juror both 1.3 km Battlecrusiers slid out from behind the planet a minute later after powering up followed by a few dozen PD Frigates.
"This is the Battle Crusiers Instigator and Juror, welcome to the fringes of the Kevengenar Empire, Please state your name and purpose in this partially claimed system"

'Not Again!' Admiral Amrstrong thought to himself... 'Another dispute isn't what this colony needs! One thing's for sure... we're not going to be forced from THIS system.'

<This is Admiral Armstrong of the Blasfisian Command Carrier The Saint. We are here on a co-colonisation mission with members of the Greywatch alliance, ships from the deatan empire are providing close support until our colony is established.

You said 'partially claimed' system... what exactly do you mean by that?>

Armstrong reached out on the NCI band, giving instructions to his BF-1401s. The sleek blasfisian vessels began to shift formation, subtley bring the two Kewen battle cruisers into range and line of sight, while shielding them from the colony vessels which were still in the process of moving to their respective planets.

<Primed encoded communique to Greywatch - Who are they? Have you had any dealings with them in the past?>
Kewen

All of the kewen ships activated their sheilds in a flurry of activty the smaller vessels moved in front of the Battle Crusiers and primed weapons while the crusiers stood and watched
"Admiral Armsssstrong, When we sssssay partially claimed we say partiallay claimed there is no other meaning, we Claim part of this sssyssstem, the only we part we need, want, ussse and live in. definitive enough?" Came a dark and sinister voice dissmissivly
"We ssssstrongry ssssugessst you keep any ships away from our planet or we will open fire without quessssstion or warning other than that feel free to the ssssysssstem" come a second lighter voice trailing off into deep laughter

A small data packet was sent to every ship in sight detailing exactly down to the nearest Microgap(Inchor equiv in Centermeters) the area deemed offlimts around the planet, it was a respectfully distance which would soon be filled with hundreds if not dozens of gleaming weapons platforms shipyards and Ceremonial Stations.

'We should probably tell the Deatans to steer clear of the Kewen...' mumbled Armstrong as he accessed the communications array.

'Or not...' muttered one of the bridge officers.

Most of the bridge crew chuckled at that, Armstrong pretended not to have heard, but had trouble keeping the smile from his face.

<This is Armsrong to Kewen fleet, we copy that, and we recognise your claim to that single planet. We'd rather not get things off to a bad start, suggest you power down your weapons. There's no need for them as long as you've no objection to us colonising this system. Maybe we can open diplomatic relations once we're established?>

<This is Armstrong to Atos... you may want to steer clear of the Kewen planet.>

'Ellis, take Intrepid and deploy some beacons on the boarder between the Kewen designated zone and the rest of the system. Careful not to deviate into their territory. We all know how it feels when others seem to be pushing you out of a system that you've claimed.'

<We know of your kind, we've seen you before. And no offense, but we'd rather not stay anywhere too close to you. The planet near the sun and the gas giant near the edge of the system, do you have claim to any of those world. Those ar ethe ones we're interested in, the Gas giant, mainly for its moons. We also want some of the asteroids, other than that, we won't bother you and hopefully you won't bother us.>

Hive stopped moving, the frigates and cruisars continued to the gas giant however. The ships were alive wiht activity, Greywatch had seen Kewen capabilities in a battle that was still happening in another system. They had weapons that matched that of the Worldslayers, not something that Greywatch liked. But if they were freidnly then, maybe they'd be friendly now...

Encrypted message to BF:

<Do not, test them, we already know what they're capable of. We don't need to fight them, you think the Deatans were bad? One shot from one of their pods, your entire fleet will be history. Do not taunt them, do not get aggressive with them, or rest assured, we will not come ot your aid.>

Encrypted message to The Saint:

<Good to hear it, I don't think Greywatch can handle another intervention. Should I message Prime for more forces? I was already planning to so that Greywatch can begin colonizing the moons, but do you think we'll need any extra firepower?>

This was all precautionary, Greywatch didn't have too much to fear from the Kewen but the fact that they were here made Greywatch force uncomfortable. Thye'd only had one concentrated dealing with the race, and the Kewen's atttude seemed, at best, precarious. However, if they really were going to leave Greywatch alone, then everything would be fine. Greywatch's main concern was actually the Deatans, everyone knew they weren't happy about being here, neither was Greywatch. The Deatans seemed, at best, still annoyed that things turned out the way they did. Everyone felt a Worldslayer should've been brought in just in case the Deatans were still thirsting for revenge. Those thoughts were put yo rest, this was a mission of peace, not hostility.

<Prime Encrypted Message to Greywatch - Calling in extra colonisation vessels would be a good plan... especially since increased civilian presence would require a military vessel... to protect the Greywatch investment in this system...

There's something else we wanted to speak to you about. Would it be possible for us to send a message using your 'sniper' communications array? Our star charts tell us that for one of our vessels to make it back to Blasphemous Fish from here would take just over a standard year! I'd like to let them know slightly sooner than that, our location and give them a report on the races we've had contact with so far and the events at the original colony site. You wouldn't have to worry about a fleet turning up here anytime soon... unless there have been significant advances in our abscence, they're still limited to swallow jumps as we are.>

<Deatans, we are focusing on the Gas Giant near the edge of the system, we want some of the moons for outposts and military training facilities as well as other things.>

<Saint, we could give you some access to the Sniper Network Comm system but we would need to reformat it so that your world could understand it. You must remember, it is very similar to the PSR that we use, if comms systems are not specially formatted, they won't understand the information being sent to them.>

A second PSR opened up near where the group had initially shuffled out, there was another Worldstarter accompanied by a Worldslayer this time. There were no other ships. The Worldstarter got in orbit around the planet closest to the twin suns and stopped, they needed an answer from Kewen before they did anything. The other Worldstarted moved towards the as giant and its moons. Reports were being shot from the frigates and cruisar to the Worldstarter. The Worldslayer kept all shields at max and weapons at 10% just in case and accompanied the second Worldstarter.

The Blasfisian colony vessel in orbit around the second planet had begun shedding its prefabricated defence platforms, in a couple of hours they would be fully operational. The vessel approaching the gas giant had only just reached position and was prepping the first platforms to be jetisonned.

The Saint was holding position at the edge of the system to maintain effective observation over the blossoming colony and direct the BF-1401s, which were on random patrol routes around the planets of the system, all except Intrepid, which was finishing off deploying beacons to mark the boarder between Blasfisian/Greywatch and Kewen territory.

<Well who says we're going to be attacked? Not baring our teeth while colonizing earned us the addition of three races into the Greywatch Empire. Enough said, now if you don't mind, we have some colonizing to do.>

The Worldslayer now held position in an area it oculd clearly see everything. A few moons around a gas giant, a planet close to twin sun... and the asteroid field no one was looking at yet, a good catch. They even had some friends in the system, along with some questionables, but that would be worried about later.
Deata
30-06-2008, 17:24

The Worldstarter approached the moons and quickly several ships were deployed. Scans showed that many of the moons were indeed habitable, a few of them had thick atmospheres that retained enough heat for plants to grow. These places looked more or less like tundras with a few thick forests but it would do.

Then a messages from the Worldslayer went to the Deatans:

<You have no real reason for being here. Consider yoursleves dismissed unless you really want to stay. Tell you superiors that, for the moment, we have no need of your presence.>

The Worldslayer simply stood still as the Worldstarter began deploying to the small moons. The other Worldstarter had also begun deploying to the desert world below it. The Greywatch ships paid little attention to the Deatans. The moons were being marked and teams were landing, it was time for the Greywatch special. As one team made landfall on one of the moons they looked around, "This place has an opening, we've scanned the surface around here, its all solid. Bring it down." With that, a landing pad appeared a few feet away from the landing team, a few barracks and a generator appear a few seconds later.
On the desert planet, things were about the same, they surveyed and landed, "We have a mesa here. There are a lot of canyons and some flat areas, let's make something quick right here." Hive deployed a landing pad along with three barracks and a generator. "Thanks Hive, next we'll need a command center. But first we need some scouts."

IC:

It only took about thirty minutes for three moons to have sufficient equiptment to maintain about one hundred people. On the other hand, the desert world would be much easier once Hive found a place big enough for it to land. Outposts were being set up quickly, there wasn't much left to do but to get Hive to begin construction of a capital city for the desert world. The moons needed no such thing, they were large but not large enough for definate action to be taken. Transmissions were sent to Greywatch reporting all findings.

Armstrong felt a stab of hatred for the Deatans. It was so strong that his NCI accidently interpretted it as a threat to the admirals life and began overlaying his vision with hand-to-hand combat programs and small arms fields of fire on the bridge. Once the admiral had cleared these images he composed himself.

<I'm glad it wasn't a total waste.>

The planetary colony vessel was on the surface, drilling itself into place and activating construction robots that would clear the area immediately around the vessel and begin to construct infacstructure and housing. One robot was already drilling a heat-sink hole in preparation for a thermal power plant to supplement the colony ships anti-matter reactor.

In orbit around the gas giant the second colony ship had unfolded to reveal cylinderical habitats and huge asteroid mining equipment. The massive particle scoop had also deployed and fixed itself in orbit around the gas giant, partially immersed in the outer layers of atmosphere, it would provide raw materials for the manufacturing pods in orbit.

<Good to hear. Message is being reformatted and aimed. We've sent it, if I'm correct it will be there... in about twenty...two seconds.>

Hive had found a spot and was now beginning its landing process. Its shield turned a bright red as it effortlessly pushed through the atmosphere. There was a large flat surface near the initial landing area that was about the size of a large country. It was a mesa, but it was massive enough to hold the Worldstarter and that was enough. Before long, everything was in full swing as mechanical arms, mechs, construction droids, and workers were beginning to build the city right underneath the Worldstarter. They were all wearing Greywatch bio-suits, white armor that protected against the elements, a large black visor provided them the ability to see. The Hive's transporters took building materials to the surface in seconds. The artificial sky of the city aboard the ship was pulled back revealing the true sky. The material the ceiling was made out of was adaptive and it quickly provided shade to those working inside the ship's city. Residents cheered, they were starting up a new colony.

The other Worldstarter was nearly done planting outposts on three of the moons. Multiple ships were sent out to the asteroid belt to begin constructing efense and mining outposts. It was a quick and effecient process, but it would take more than a year for everything to be finished. Greywatch was literally tranfering a city onto a planet, no small feat, but one they'd attempted, and succeeded, before. The second Worldstarter would soon move to the planet Hive was on and begin making a second city, unless a large moon was found that was suitable for planting a city on.
Greywatch

<Would you like me to assign a pair of BF-1401's to you for the time being Greywatch? They make truly unmatched escort and scouting vessels... they'd be ideal to defend one of your colony ships while it goes about its work.>

The Blasfisian colony ship that had touched down on the planet had begun to extend a dome covering the immediate area. Within that dome, bio-catalysts and conversion filters were creating a livable atmosphere for the colonists within. By the time the construction droids had finished erecting basic infrastructure and housing, the dome would have extended far enough out to let the colonists begin to inhabit the area outside of the colony ship itself. Eventually, over the course of decades, the bio tech carried aboard the colony vessel would be established enough to convert the entire continent into a liveable Blasfisian environment. Given enough time, the whole planet would become habitable enough.

Even now the colonists were working away on samples of the local plant and wildlife, examining their genetic makeup and engineering them to be compatible with the human digestive system.

Meanwhile, onboard The Saint, Armstrong had raised his shields and powered the carriers weapons.

<Such shockingly bold pirates to attempt activity under our noses... we'll launch some fighters... see if you can't route out anymore of them.>

The admiral didn't believe a word of the Deatan excuses... but couldn't work out what they were planning.

5 wings of BF-12 fighters launched from The Saint's ports. 100 fighters in all. 300 more awaited the command to scramble at the admirals signal. 100 had been fitted with combat wasps, and could act as torpedo bombers.
Deata
30-06-2008, 21:34
The Deatans deployed 100 droid fighters. There weren't nearly enough pirates out there for a sweep of that magnitude so why would the Blasfisians withdraw so many fighters? The droids clustered around the fleet as unobtrusively as possible.

<Progress report?> requested Atos.
Greywatch
30-06-2008, 21:36
<I thikn we have this handled, I very much doubt that these pirate will approach us when we have Farseers in our arsenal, much less a fully operational Worldslayer.>

Said Worldslayer actually had weapons at only 50%. They didn't care about pirates, such things never bothered them. Now for the Worldslayer's part of the job, droids were deployed to begin working on Orbital defense platforms. It started with two pieces being blinked into space, the command part and the generators. Next would be enviroment controls and soon after the barracks. After all of that was done, the power relays could be set up, the very last part would be the cannon itself. Or in the case of Greywatch, six cannons. Greywatch ODPs possessed six barrels that had 5 second cooldown times, as well as a number of other defense systems.

Meanwhile, on the surface of the desert world, everything was going fine. Scans were complete, gravity was about 3 times that of Greywatch, but everyone would get used to it soon enough. It was only a matter of time. The engineers would most likely make buidling with artificial gravity systems and install Anti-gravity generators underneathe the walkways of the future city. But that would be though about later. The atmosphere wasn't breatheable, there was air, but it was very thin and apparently, there was concentrated amounts of other elements in the air. More scans would need to be done.

"No claim to them, nor were we going to, they are usssselesssss to ussss, Diplomatic relations are possible but we advise you again not to come close to our planet without authorisation other wise we will fire"
To Emphise their point, The main weapon system on the twin Crusiers "unsheated" itself and one massive barrel was plainly visible from the middle of each ship, before shortly being retracted again

"Greywatch sssshipssss,We ssssend out neutral greetingsssss again and we assssk how that colony is going?, and to anssssswer your quessssstion go ahead take the planetssss but ssssstay clear of ourssss"

The smaller vessels surrounding the Crusiers stood down powering down weapons, that was untill the Deata fleet still moved towards the planet reeengageing their weapons the smaller ships spead to the edge of the planets space and stood to barr the Deata ships from moving any closer while the crusiers turned and moved as well albeit much slower.

The Blasfisians activated a strong signaled pulse from the beacons they had erected between the Kewen space and the rest of the system... the Deatans couldn't fail to notice that.

Was this some sort of ruse?

Were the Deatans planning to start trouble with the Kewen to ruin another Blasfisian colony.

Back on Blasphemous Fish's homeworld...

The deep space monitoring station was buzzing with background noise and signals from accross the galaxy... just like it always was. Ensign Skol was reclining in his chair, half asleep... like he always was on this duty.

It took the prime program governing the station 4 attempts to rouse the ensign... it had eventually resorted to having a maintainance robot poke the human in the shin with a panel removing tool.

'Ooww! What'samatterdammit!?' The ensign shouted as he nearly fell out of his chair.

Prime displayed the signal they were recieving...

'Oh... wait... what the hell is... Oohhhh!'

The ensign began sending signals to all the senior officers in system and down on the homeworld below... everyone was going to want to access this...

'Again?!' Exclaimed the diplomat. 'I should be getting paid more...' he complained as he prepared to make first contact with yet another alien race.

The transport picked him and his guards up and slowly approached the Kewen vessel.

The Battle cruser turned so that its right side was facing the approaching shuttle, a hangerbay opened on the side of the Battle Crusier and a small green light/beacon was thrown outside to signal the Envoy to arrive in there.

In the hannger bay were neat rows and deadly looking fighters surronded by twevle smaller weaker looking fighters around each one a nice sized pad was cleared for the envoy and a coloum of Kewen troops stood infront of a pathway in the middle of them stood a Man in a Black suit with a breifcase.

"Sssstand Ready" Shouted the man in the suit and the troops split into four small rows and stood still their black armour shining slightly black helmets incased their faces leaving no body parts exposed. and small swords hand from their belts while a large rifel with two barrels was slung on the shoulder of each man in total 20 stood waiting

The diplomat gave a small bow.

'Please accept my official greeting on behalf of the Blasphemous Fish colonisation expedition. I come to establish diplomatic relations with the Kewen people in the hope that we can become allies and friends.

We're co-colonising this system with Greywatch, whom we've already established an alliance of sorts with.

The tip began slowly opening as the spires that had been on the rear spine of the Disk detached and assumed Geosync orbit of the planet in total there was 19 of them each remeber a large cannon with a few dozen turrets on them each of these cannons eas the same as the ones on a Battle Cube.

The Blasfisian colonies progressed smoothly. The manufacturing modules had already begun to synthesise chemicals and complex molecules from the raw material gathered by the cloud scoop, and a trio of robotic tugs had drifted over to the asteroid belt and selected a spicemen to be taken back and mined for raw materials. They were securing their towing lines at this very instant. Eventually, given several years, the industrial modules would be able to expand themselves to the point of becoming ship yards in their own right.

The civilian colony on the planet would take longer to become productive in the same way. Eventually they would be able to grow genetically modified foods in the alien soil... but for the moment they were still establishing infrastructure and a habitable environment. The civilian population would mainly rely upon the bio-tech in the colony vessel itself for their everyday needs... Nutrition could be obtained from sucking on one of the many nutrient nipples located throughout the ship. Waste could be recycled and turned back into nutrients. Heat, light and clean air were all provided by the bio-tech of the colony ship.

IC:

The Last of the 19 Spires took place around the planet, at the moment they looked like nothing but a bunch of Large cannons with the odd Structure around them in time they would be built up to contain a large planatary sheild network and other such things.

The large colony ship now fully expanded reoitinated itself till one end faced the sun (disk part) and the smaller pointy end facing the planet.

It started with a single yellow flash then another and another till it looked as if millions and millions of little yellow raindrops had hit the disk except you could only see the ripple. At the very edges of the disk the energy was collected and sent to the tip of the point at the end of the ship this would go on for a few more minutes.

The ships still stood ready near the edge of the border, even though the Deatans backed off they were still to close for Kewen liking.
"We are claim, noone yet has lived to ssssssee usssss angry if you have peaceful intentions do not infring upon our planets space" Came a quick reply the Crusiers and PD frigates still sat waiting and ready not yet standing down.

The three other crusiers that came with the Colony ship took up escorts positions around the ship and the planet.

The surface of the planet was abuzz with activity the small egg shaped things that were sent to the planet had already landed each creating a small but noticable crater, sprouting large towering legs one of the pods up righted it self and waiting for the next move.

The large Ship had collected enough energy after a short ten second build up time a lance of bright blue energy spat out from the tip of the craft towards one of the egg like pods on the surface.

The Pod Braced itself as millions upon millions of TerraVolts flowed through them and into the surrounding ground, the ground glowed and began to melt away forming a vast cratore around the pod, an another hole led deeper into the planet to tap into the Thermal Heat. This proccess was repeated on each of the 9 eggs on the planet.

'Unbelieveable...'

Everybody taking part in the virtual sensiviron conference was stunned. Their virtual selves sat with mixed expressions of awe, confusion, apparent glee, and complete shock... The message went beyond their wildest expectations.

They'd reviewed the reports that Armstrong had sent, but the really fascinating data was that sent by Greywatch.

'We have to contact them.' spoke one of Blasphemous Fish's most influential politicans. 'Think of what they could teach us! What power and protection we could enjoy with these people as our allies!'

'Indeed...' picked up Grand Admiral Falan. 'With unfriendly forces such as these 'deatans' around, it would be highly beneficial for us to pursue this alliance. I propose cementing this alliance by sending a fleet, with a gift for Greywatch... but what to send them?' He pondered...

"Can you tell usss a little about yourselvessss why are you here? how long? who are you? your hissstory?"

'Well...' began the diplomat...

'The origins of the Blasfisian nation are shrouded in mystery, there was a colony vessel containing thousands of people in suspended animation, the vessel’s software had degraded and been damaged due to a voyage of unknown length. It finally came to rest in a habitable system 4,000 years ago. All of the occupants had no memory of their previous lives. Only an ancient and faded insignia on the hull of the colony ship gave us any identity at all. From that single colony ship and the technology that the ancestors found within it, sprung the nation of Blasphemous Fish.

We Blasfisians are human, but have modified ourselves in many varied ways; technological, genetic, bionic, bio-engineered implants... things of that nature. We do this to better ourselves. Citizens and military personnel routinely upgrade their bodies with implants of various kinds with several different effects... for example; weapons implants, enhanced organs and cell clusters to improve physical and mental capacity.

Without trying to seem arrogant... we're expert programmers and software engineers. The efforts to retrieve fragments of data stored in the core of our old colony vessel drives Blasfisian people to develop in this area. From an early age all Blasfisians are fitted with an NCI (Neural Cluster Interface). These glands of bio-engineered synthetic cell tissue allow us to access and interpret data, as well as issue instructions to or communicate with other NCI’s or compatible technology.

We have developed a unique software known as 'prime'. This quasi-sentient, self contained programme can operate within almost any computer system that it can gain access to. It can be used to gather information, facilitate difficult or dangerous tasks or subvert enemy computer systems. Is superior to conventional AI’s and any other software we've ever encountered. Many feel that it is our crowning achievement. It is certainly the thing that has allowed us to grow so quickly during the last century.

Blasfisian ships and installations make extensive use of bio-ware. This technology is integrated into the technological foundations and functions of our life. It provides nourishment, recycles waste, can aid in healing & life support and is even capable of inducing a form of stasis, which can slow down and preserve life in spite of severe injuries. Bio systems are also used for complex sensors and communications within our society.

Off the top of my head, that's a brief description of our people.'

The diplomat finished with an ingratiating smile, waiting for the Kewen to reciprocate.

"Our hissstory is much more confined and sssslower, many Dhran ago(equiv to mellenia) we ussssed to have incredibly sssshort lifesssspanssss to a point where we would be lucky to live little more than a day with only the urge to sssspead breed and eat we learned very little, we inhabited the northern partsssss of our home, on the ssssouthern parts ressssided our future sssselvessss which issss what you ssssee before you, anyhow, we lived liked this for many thousands of yearsssss that wasssss untill something happened a degredation of sortsssss a collapsssssing of the sssssouthern half for some reason the parts of us that was yet to become us started to die off, and in what could be described as a very quick exodus the whole of the southern side decnded on our past selves in quite litteraly a tsunami, when we awoken we found ourselves larger, smarter, faster, stronger but we still were the old ussss withinn the new ussss, and most of all driven to learn. we began of coursssse with what we alwayssss did breed and eat but when we realissssed we didnt die the next day nor the next week nor the next year, tenssss of yearssss and eventually millionssss of years we decided to stop. we then had a seriessss of what you would call votessss through our new found ability to ssssimultanioussssly sssspeak with everyone at once the "link" we then decided over the course of the next mellenia to move and explore but unfortunatly when we finally got into sssspace we discovered quite literally a wall, a nebual that both protected ussss and prevented ussss from passsssing it desssstoryed all shipssss leaving who wernt sssstrong enough, we gave up untill one faithful day we tried again, then again each time building bigger faster more heavily defended ships till we finally breeched the barrier little over a year ago, now travel though it is nice and eassssy though sssstill extremely deadly to almost everyone."

he finished now he waited to see what the diplomat would do.

The transport took no time in getting to the hanger and touched down slowly. The diplomat, a male Leanorian, followed by two Drones, one of them an Elden Drone, exited the craft. The Drones wore small smiles, the Leanorian didn't look too happy to have them there but pushed past it, he had Greywatch diplomat garb on but decided against wearing a shirt. The Drones were like typical Drones, the Elder had a sword and a metallic case on his back, no shirt, black clothing, a mask, and was covered in tattoos that depicted flames. The other Drone was in all black, the diplomat nodded, "Lead the way."

OOC: I assume you know all the other Drone features, I've had to describe them a lot lately.

The diplomat sraightened up in his seat, "I just threw out the trading outpost idea. Haven't gotten an answer yet... My main reason for being here is because Greywatch wants a Non-aggression pact with the Kewen, due to the fact that they appear in just about every system we visit."
--------------------
The two Drones quickly got to work. The Elder stood in front of the younger Drone, facing it. Then the two began sparing, they moved with both speed and power, each strike landed on the other caused a blast of cryptic energy. This was the first part of their training, hand-to-hand combat. Both of them were skill, the Elder Drone held back considerably. The younger Drone was still not something to be tampered with, each hit it made was followed by a gust of air as an explosion of cryptic energy followed. For Drones, getting hit with such force and with Cryptic energy meant almost nothing, any normal creature would have internal damage practically beyond repair.

Turning to the BF Guards he said "If you would like you can try out some of our weapons?" he pointed to the wall and the assortment of heavy weaponry he walked over to a nearby pad and touched a button, a small EMP feild activated and any monotiering devices besides that of kewen would hopefully be nulled.

****

One guard stepped over to the weapons, examining them, intrigued. The other looked more restless...

'Your diplomat spoke of robotic opponents for hand-to-hand combat... any chance I could have a crack? Don't expect it back in one piece though...' the soldier grinned.

The first guard attempted to pick up the largest weapon... he was suprised by how much it weighed. He activated his NCI and ordered a 100% activation of his boosted muscles, governed by a prime distribution and co-ordination programme.

Immediately the weapon seemed to become lighter, but hefting it still required the soldier to get his whole body under the barrel as leverage. The trooper balanced it on his shoulder with on arm steadying the cannon and stared down the barrel, aiming down the range. Projectile prediction and fine motor control programmes pulsed into life, displaying a grid overlayed on his field of vision and showing the likely trajectory of his shots. Tiny adjestments were made to his aim by the programme and he barely had to think as he fired his first shot. The cannon pulsed and completely obliterated the target he had been aiming at.

'Impressive...' the soldier cradeled the weapon, resting the butt against the floor, glad to take the extra weight away from his frame. He stroked it... feeling the contours and the intricate variations in weight and balance...

'But bulky...' he heaved the cannon back on the rack with a loud bang and took up a stance at the even of the firing range. Arms by his sides, head down, feet planted firmly apart. The guard ordered his small internal power source to be activated. He felt the bio-reactor spark into life and begin to pump a charge into his implanted internal power grid.

As the charge built up the soldier changed his stance, turning side on and focusing on one target... he raised his hand. Boosted muscles contracted and from within the trooper's forearm slid a directed plasma emitter. He aimed, concentrated the charge from his power grid, and sent the impulse to fire.

The bolt of superheated plasma spat down the range and impacted straight into the target, almost completely melting it.

The guard lowered his arm, breathing heavily. The charge took a lot of energy from the users body... but the weapon was undeniably effective.

If that weapon weighed 10 tons even they couldn't have realistically used it. Also, directed energy weapons don't generally have recoil... and if they do it's down to a mechanical movement within the weapon itself, which would shake the gun apart if it were that severe. I'll edit my post to make him put my effort into firing... but he can still fire it. These guys have been HEAVILY alterted. The Blasfisian guard approached the ring, examing the prospective opponenents... He stood before the hand-to-hand droid sizing it up.

Making his decision the guard powered up his own systems. Power pulsed through him. His internal implants thrummed into life, boosted muscles, hardened sub-dermal partial exoskeleton, reinforced skeleton, repulsor plates and strengthened membranes all tightened as the systems around them were activated. His NCI gland enhanced sensory perception while stimulating the production of adreneline and releasing chemicals that would enhance the warrior still further... this protection made him feel truly invulnerable and immune to hard-ship and pain.

His weapons implants all registered at 100% and prime slipped in to combat mode, sharpering the soldiers reflexes and reactions, giving him almost a sense of precognition. It overlayed his vision with close combat vectors and measurements, highlighting and enhancing his perception of the combat droid stood infront of him. He activated the two weapons in his forearms. His left arm sprouted a mass of thin alloy 'flow-metal' tentacles that wrapped around his forearm and hand, effectivly turning the limb into an effective shield or battering weapon. The tentacles could be reconfigured if he required a weapon.

His right arm extruded a mysterious narrow, short, sharp, hollow tube that extended only a centimeter from between his knuckles. It was conected to a bulging forearm full of boosted muscle. And would be the soldier's 'ace in the hole'.

He spoke at the robot, imitating the Kewen guard.

'Mussuk.'

The Blasfisian diplmat was also interested in what the Greywatch answer would be.

****

This was unexpected... the guard's metal ecased arm seemed to be lodged in the alien droids chest... and the droid was trying to break his arm!

The flowmetal tentacles reacted, guided by prime, they almost instantly formed a shield over the arm. Even so, the impact was brutal. Jarring the guard's shoulder. It would have broken the arm if not for the reinforced skeleton and boosted muscle that absorbed the blow. The only respite from another hit came as his leg came round and caught the droid, seemingly knocking it off balance for a second.

The guard heaved against the clinging alien robot's chest, but there was no give even with the guard exerting the full force of his boosted muscles. So he reached back with his other fist... pointed tube glinting through his knuckles... and punched, aiming for the throat of the droid...

The two Drones continued fighting each other, they were getting more aggressive, each punch they threw or kick they performed was backed up with cryptic energy. Waves of air were pushed away from them from the force of each movement. At this rate, they'd be relying on their actual cryptic abilities.

The guard was impressed by the droids speed in ducking the blow... it'd beenn holding back before...

If he needed anymore confirmation, it came in the form of a more powerful blow from the hand-to-hand machine as it once again tried to snap the soldiers arm. This time the flow metal could absorb all the impact and was damaged. The arm itself with wrenched had. Without the pain-blocking power of his NCI implant the guard would have been in a lot of pain.

His prime display flashed up a list of options on how to extricate himself from the alien. Most of them involved using a significant amount of power from his internal reactor... which would leave him tired and at a disadvantage... Then he noticed the bottom option that prime had supplied...

It would take a lot of conviction, and energy... and would likely leave the guard out of commission for a while... but it had the advantage of having a 94% chance of ending the combat in one move. He made his choice.

Bracing himself against another blow the guard began to buffer a huge charge in his internal capacitors...

They possess abilites that are hard for most people to even begin to imagine. I, along with others of my kind, can regenrate and heal others without damaging our own lifespans. Elden can manipulate the universe itself to do their will, within certain limits of course. The guard knew the blow was coming, but could do nothing to stop it. The kewen droid's arm crunched into the guards reinforced left arm... the reinforced skeleton didn't stand-up to the blow and snapped with a dry crack that could be heard by everyone in the room. If it hadn't been for the boosted muscles around his arm and the integrated impants and power grid, the soldiers arm might have been seperated from his body! Such was the force of the blow.

But it was at that point that the guard unleashed the charge he had been building up... not into his damaged left arm, but into the boosted muscle of his right arm! The charge burned out of the muscle, shocking the aliend droid with its intensity and lending a surge of strength to the Blasfisian guard's right arm... He pulled back his arm from the grasp of the droid and punched forward again... as hard and as fast as he could, prime guided the arm to its target, the alien's throat. The shiny tip of the pointed tube protuded slightly from the knuckles of his fist...

The Drones continued their battle, completely unaware of anything happening around them. Then it happened, the younger Drone began activating a cryptic ability. In its hand formed a small black ball of energy, he held his arm out straight, pointing his palm and thus the ball at the Elder Drone, who did nothing. The ball began to collect more energy and thus more weight, it could be felt throughout the area, a weapon of great power was in that Drone's hand and if fired, could do some serious damage. The Elder Drone waited expectantly, not thinking about the others in the room, if such a skill was left uninterupted, someone was most likely going to die...

The Driod saw the incoming fist and again tried to move but the shock had disortientaded and shut of its connectiond with its prime coder so it was much more sluggish the blow landed with a heavy thud as the little tube sunk into the Metal casing on its head.
Blasphemous fish

Prime sprung into action as soon as the tube penetrated its target.

Hundreds of meters of single molecule thick alloy wire was pumped into the body cavity of the drone. The thin wire uncoiled fully into the drone's head and neck. The weapon had been designed for use against biological targets... acting like a cheese wire, it would reduce internal organs to the consistancy of soup... but it worked equally well on the robot shredding the control chip of the droid and severeing wires and connections as it uncoiled within a millisecond.

An instant later the implant retracted the wire, which caused as much damage going out as it had on the way in.

The Guard stepped back, cradeling his broken arm... and watched, waiting for the robot to collapse.

The other guard had started to take notice of the drones and there fight... he was sending back a stream of information to the Blasphemous Fish fleet via his NCI link as the two beings fought.

There was a low hum coming from the energy in the Drone's hand. The Elder wasn't doing anything in return, all he had to do was dodge it. And that wasn't hard. However, such a power would be like setting out a very decent bomb in fireworks factory, there was no telling what cuh cryptic energy would do. It had no designated element, it was not being turned into fire or being used to control water. It was Cryptic energy and nothig more, the most dangerous form there was. A wave of artificial gravity went accross the room as the ability powered up more and more...

The power discharge almost overloaded the guard's implants... but the distrubution net managed to accept the flow of power and integrate it back into the bioware systems by channeling it through the wire implant directly back into the internal power web.

If such a charge had hit the trooper on his skin he wouldn't have had any chance of absorbing it and would have been badly burned.

This is destructive force in my hands... dammit dammit. Just then he had an idea, he tranferred the energy into lighting and drove it into himself, an electrical surge filled his body and he screamed in pain. Slowly, and with much assistance from the Drones the diplomat rose to his feet. "Is there something you require?" Asked the younger Drone, the Elder didn't bother, it took the diplomats arm and began filling the open hand with Encryptic energy, the opposite of cryptic to an extent. "Leanorians are excellent healers and regenerators, he'll be fine." The Leanorian gave a small smile as he began converting the energy in his palm to healing energy, once there was enough of it he repeated the same action he had done with the cryptic energy and slammed it into his chest, albeit in a twitch just-got-electrocuted way. There was an aura of light around his body as his wounds and burns vanished, his fur and skin growing back. It all lasted for a little less than a minute before the Drones let him go and he stood on his own. His clothing, other than the hole in the chest, was more or less fine. The guard's NCI display was flashing up unusual icons and data streams... showing incomprhensible sensor read-outs of equations gathered from his limb. Prime was recording it all and feeding it into the wider NCI network for future study.

The program had also initiated a total receptor nerve block on the limb, the guard couldn't feel anything... but his NCI implant was telling him that if he could feel, he'd be in pain. The bones and muscles themselves were healing... and to a certain extent so were the bio-implants and augmentations... but the damaged power distribution grid and flow metal ports remained inoperable. It'd take a lot of surgery to replace them.

'Maybe I'll get myself another extruder...' murmered the guard...'seemed to work well enough against the alien beastie.' He grinned to himself at the memory.
