Blasphemous Fish – The Blasfisian Racial Fact Book.

Racial Bio:

The origins of the Blasfisian nation are shrouded in mystery, there was a colony vessel containing thousands of people in suspended animation, the vessel’s software had degraded and been damaged due to a voyage of unknown length. It finally came to rest in a habitable system 4,000 years ago. All of the occupants had no memory of their previous life. Only an ancient and faded insignia on the hull of the colony ship gave the Blasfisians any identity at all. From that single colony ship and the technology that the colonists found within, sprung the nation of Blasphemous Fish.

- Blasfisians are human, but have modify themselves in many varied ways; technological, genetic, bionic, bio-engineered implants etc.

- They’re expert programmers and software engineers. The efforts to retrieve fragments of data stored in the core of their old colony vessel drives the Blasfisian people to develop in this area.

- From an early age all Blasfisians are fitted with an NCI (Neural Cluster Interface). These glands of bio-engineered synthetic cell tissue allows the user to access and interpret data, as well as issue instructions to or communicate with other NCI’s or compatible technology.

- Citizens and military personnel routinely upgrade their bodies with implants of various kinds with several different effects e.g. weapons implants, enhanced organs and cell clusters to improve physical and mental capacity and some experimentation is underway to create implants and treatments to give Blasfisians extra sensory perception and telekinetic abilities – so far these experiments have met with mixed and limited results.

- Prime: unique software developed by Blasphemous Fish’s top programmers. This quasi-sentient, self contained programme can operate within almost any computer system that it can gain access to. Can be used to gather information, facilitate difficult or dangerous tasks or subvert enemy computer systems. Is superior to most conventional AI’s.

- Blasfisian ships and installations make extensive use of bio-ware. This technology is integrated into the technological foundations and functions of Blasfisian life. It provides nourishment, recycles waste, can aid in healing & life support and is even capable of inducing a form of stasis, which can slow down and preserve life in spite of severe injuries. Bio systems are also used for complex sensors and communications.

Fleet:

Blasphemous Fish has only 2 major shipyards. Both are within the nation’s home system. The automated, micro gee manufacturing modules, in orbit around the system’s large gas giant, mass-produces the standard Blasfisian fighter-bomber. While the dedicated space docks in orbit over the system’s principle planet are capable of producing the larger vessels used by the Blasfisian navy.

- Command Carrier:

Length – 9km

Crew compliment – 6000 (including fighter crews and support staff)
Fighter compliment – 400
Power systems: antimatter/matter reactors with back up fusion generators.
Main armaments: heavy plasma cannon, several ancillary beam weapon turrets, hundreds of conventional turrets covering much of the hull, & dozens of turbo lasers for fighter defence.
Armour/shielding: specially designed lightweight alloy armoured hull, energy displacement shields.
Role: massively heavy ship of the line, able to hold its own against other capital vessels, but still traditionally Blasfisian; sleek and swift, not designed to slug it out with dedicated battleships. Usually takes a command and support role in combat.

- BF-15:

Length – 4km
Girth – 4km
Crew compliment – 900
Fighter compliment – 0
Power systems: antimatter/matter reactors with back up fusion generators.
Main armaments: numerous heavy weapons mountings – kinetic cannons, gamma pulse arrays, plasma cannons, heavy turbo lasers, heavy ion cannons.
Armour/shielding: 9m thick heavy ablative armour, reinforced superstructure, structural integrity fields, energy displacement shields & secondary kinetic shielding array.
Role: front-line battleship. Designed for capital ship combat. Lacks the grace and speed of other Blasfisian ships – compensates for this with awesome firepower and the most resilient shielding and armour of any Blasphemous Fish produced vessel. Has limited ability to take on fighters and small escort vessels – anti capital ship specialist.

- BF-1401:

Length – 400m
Girth – 320m
Crew compliment – 7
Fighter compliment – 0
Power systems: antimatter/matter reactors with back up fusion generators.
Main armaments: multiple mountings for forward beam cannons, combat wasp launchers (intelligent, multifunctional torpedoes), several fixed point turbo lasers for fighter defence.
Armour/shielding: specially designed lightweight alloy armoured hull (can be customised for stealth running), energy displacement shields.
Role: fast escort vessel with enough firepower to class it as a medium cruiser. Sleek and manoeuvrable, but wouldn’t go toe to toe with capital ships. Dedicated hit-and-run, rapid response or scouting vessels.

- BF-12:

Length – 16m
Girth – 9m
Crew compliment – 1
Power systems: rechargeable power cells.
Main armaments: Gauss cannons that fire electron explosive ammunition. Each fighter can be equipped with a single combat wasp slung under the hull, although this reduces acceleration and manoeuvrability.
Armour/shielding: durable, lightweight alloy armoured hull. Distortion field that makes targeting Blasfisian fighters extremely difficult.
Role: basic fighter-bomber. Highly manoeuvrable, sleek & fast. Dangerous in a dogfight. If equipped with combat wasps, can act as torpedo bombers, however, this makes them easy prey for other fighters.

- Combat Wasps:

Crew compliment – NA
Power systems: short term fusion reactor.
Main armaments: nuclear and kinetic submunitions.
Armour/shielding: minimal.
Role: torpedo. Combat wasps are essentially very intelligent attack vessels. They're designed to be launched, accelerate at 40 gees, and get in close enough to deploy their nuclear and kinetic weapons at close range. Very effective against large ships. Vulnerable to defensive fire or sometimes fighters that can match their immense speed and manoeuvrability can pick them off.
