As the sun rose, so came the Alfegan airships. 2000km away from the mainland, but well within range. The group posted was small for this exercise, but would do well for now.

It was a mixed taskforce, taking into account a sizeable enemy airship presence. For now, the force consisted of the following:

- AAS Helios (Consul-class Aerocruiser)
- AAS Frost (Consul-class Aerocruiser)
- AAS Spark (W-class Electronic Warfare Airship)

- AAS Gungho (Aerodropcraft)
- ASF 101 (N-class Aerofrigate)
- ASF 102 (N-class Aerofrigate)
- ASF 103 (N-class Aerofrigate)
- ASF 104 (N-class Aerofrigate)
- ASF 106 (N-class Aerofrigate)

The lead airship, the AAS Helios, was preparing for conflict: rising to an altitude of 6500m alongside the others, whilst the AAS Frost pulled aside it. Around them, the Aerofrigates formed a diamond enclosing the Aerodropcraft and the AAS Spark. These two special airships were just what had been called for in this attack: unusual, unexpected, and playing on the enemy's key strengths as weaknesses.

Now just to wait for them to start coming. Missiles were already being prepared to fire, with sensors fully active in anticipation of inbound enemy sometime soon: the AAS Spark held a small RADAR unit which, at its high altitude, was able to see all targets within 1000km. Once they started coming, the games would begin.

Slowly, tiny blips began to appear on the radar screen.

"Guys, I have some action going on at my station." the junior officer said as his screen soon filled with more and more signs of action, "Captain, will you please come look at this, sir?" The captain stepped over to where the officer was sitting, and looked at the screen.

After a second the captain spoke, "It seems that there is one of two possibilities, these could either be hostile bogeys, or they could be a Vanteland convoy of supplies, heading for the interior building projects. Let's make sure before we blow them out of the sky." He broadcast a message to the floatilla in the skies.

"Enigma, what is your call sign, please relay your call sign, over." He repeated the broadcast three times, before putting his ten batteries on alert and sent a warning of a possible bogey to the Central Air Base.

"Looks like we're being hailed. What shall our reply be?"
"Keep silent. I want to get a lock on the radio position."

Using the receivers on all the other airships, they began triangulating the point of the radio signal. Soon, they managed to get a lock on it.

"That's their nearest airport now targeted. Let's get the first strike, shall we?"

A pair of ballistic missiles launched from the side of the AAS Frost, leaving a trail of smoke behind them, The two were armed with 1000kg HE warheads, guided to position via GPS. Leaving their booster charges behind, the main stages ignited on the missiles, propelling them forwards to speeds of 8500km/h. Within 15 minutes, they would impact against their target at the airfield, having dropped their main stage to let the final stages take over in the final approach.

"Sir, it looks like they just fired off two missiles, seems like they are in fact hostile, do I have permission to engage, sir?" The radar operator yelled as two blips sailed closer to the center of the screen.

"Yes, report send the coordinates to the missile batteries, and report other stations to be on alert."

Within seconds the coordinates and routes of the missiles had been transmitted to the battery operators in the field, and soon a volley of heat seeking MIM-104 Patriot SAM missiles flew towards their targets.
