Land de Wood News dated 23/06/08 issue 1
Land de Wood open for business
Over the weekend, enterpreneur Andrew Wood, was annouced as the Prime Minister of his own new nation, Land de Wood. Land de Wood is an island out in the Eastern Ocean which up until now has been uninhabitated. But thanks to the tireless work of Andrew Wood and his organisation Wood Limited, the foundations of this new nation has been laid here on this island.
Andrew Wood has moved the headquarters of Wood Limited to this new nation, along with the majority of his workforce along with not only their families but also their extended families. He has signed deals with a number of companies who are setting up operations in this new nation which promises to be company friendly, and actually help businesses.
Andrew Wood promises his new nation will be vastly different from his home nation, which resembles a socialist nation with taxes going through the roof and business regulations strangling small business. However, he recognises the need for government which can help businesses and has set up a single house of parliament with the first elections due in 5 years, giving time for the new nation to sort itself out, voting in these elections will be voluntary.
It has been reported that in these first few days a number of criminals have taken advantage of the new nation, and Andrew Wood has vowed to sort out these crime problems. He has already passed legislation to bring in CCTV and having been horrified at seeing 8 year olds in casinos, has banned gambling for the forseeable future. Andrew Wood is quoted as saying "while we appreciate the enterpreneurship of many a casino, we believe that our young do need protecting from the evil of casinos and certain books." Leading rumours to abound about possible censorship and banning of a recently released high profile book.
The new nation is keen to establish trade agreements with other nearby nations and will be holding a special trade banquet on Friday to give opportunity for other nations to send their representatives to, to discuss these.
