Franshaw Memorial Funeral, Hero’s cemetery, three months ago
“This man was not just an Admiral, he was the Admiral, without the valiant efforts by Primary Admiral Alex Franshaw no doubt the Mokan navy would not be anywhere near as powerful as it is today. This man took the few shipyards, the few cruisers and warships, and turned them into a massive industry capable of going to war around the world. Seeking out only the best ships in existence he pulled the strings and begged for the budget to create a navy over 1,000 ships strong. He remade the Panama Canal large enough to handle even the mighty Longsword Missile ship. His death will be marked as a turning point in history, no other Admiral, Primary Admiral or captain could ever do what this man did for his country. He is the father of the Mokan navy, he is the spirit of the navy, he IS the Navy. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is today that we put our beloved friend, ally, and protector to ease. While we may not have the body to return to the ground, for his body is where it truly belongs, still at the helm of the Mokan Flagship, we can only hope that this monument to Primary Admiral Franshaw is enough to show our gratitude to this man.”
Amongst the crowd two brothers stand next to each other, both of a deep Hispanic origin, both the sons of a farmer who 40 years ago decided that that day was the day the leftist revolt, and lead the start of the Political wars. On the left was a familiar face to any diplomat to date, Charles Villa, the other, the former president and savior of Mokastana, Nicolas. They listened to the pastor as he gave the eulogy to the crowd. As the final words were being spoken they both laid hands on the statue of the man, the first time a monument in Mokan history was made to honor a hero of the people. Not some crazed leader.
“He was a good man.”
“He was just what we needed.”
As the final goodbyes were being told the two brothers left for a walk in the cemetery. Many relatives and friends made this patch of land home. Next to the statue of the Admiral was the stone of his brother, Jason Franshaw, former head of the MBSA, killed in action during a Greal uprising. Many more Franshaws filled their plot, dates going back all the way to the Political wars. Not one died of old age. Nicolas looked over to see a man in Ceremonial uniform, a rarity in the Mokan Army, with an older woman dressed in black. Nicolas spoke quietly for the funeral:
“Look over there, its Mrs. Franshaw and her son, I hear he is going to be a General soon.”
“Should we offer our sympathies?”
“Soon enough, we have to take of something first.”
“Just like always brother.”
The two made their way to the Villa area of the cemetery, near the entrance two tombstones sat waiting for them, the one on the left caught Charles off guard, as much as he should of expected it:
Marcella Villa
1965-2007
Soldier, mother, wife, savior,
We will miss you
Nicolas could only watch as his brother fell to his knees over his wife’s grave, ruining the pants of the suit, but it was only clothing. It was one thing to hear about your wife being killed while you were away in the battlefield, much like Nicolas had, it was another when she was sitting next to you in a plane when the missile hit. She had survived the wars, even had a son, George, who was now married to the leader of AHSCA, only to die at terrorist hands, in an unarmed plane. Death was a part of life back in those days, both brothers married knowing full well the dangers of love in war. Both wives knew their duties to the revolution: One stayed home, the other joined the ranks, now both were in the graves. Marcella here, Nicolas’ wife, some ditch in the mountains, the body never recovered.
Nicolas helped his brother up as they continued to their destination. They passed their cousins:
Juan Villa,
1971-2007
Public Relations Minister,
Always give them a show
also claimed in the plane crash.
General Leon Villa
1969-2006
Fighter, leader, Friend
I trust only the Gods of War
who died in the last unification.
After passing some more graves they came to the final stop, the reason they came, the one large, two person tombstone, Mom and Dad:
Miguel Villa
1937-1978
Revolutionary, Conquistador, Liberator
Remember, it is easier to blow up a train, then make them run on time
Anna Villa
1938-1984
Mother, Teacher, Optimist
My words will guide you home
After standing over the graves for some time, showing the proper respect for their parents, Charles finally spoke up:
“Not many of us left are there?”
“Nope, but we are doing are best, I hope George has a son to carry on the name.”
“So do I, Marcella,” he chocked as the words passed his lips, a single tear rolled down his already moisten cheeks, “is already walking and talking. George told me he is working on his training to make sure no Island boy or mokan naval man breaks her heart when she gets older. He named his daughter in honor of his mother.”
“So how does it feel to be a grandfather Charles?”
“To be honest I never thought I would make it this far, but now that I have, why should I stop now? Villas, Billards, Kushevs, Franshaws, we are the families that made this nation what it is today, the original families, the starters of the Political wars, the unifiers. Work still needs to be done.”
“Yes there is Charlie. Much work to do be done if this earth will ever see peace.”
“Brother, I know about the Airship incident, between Alfegos and Antigr, but don’t let that change your outlook, on the world.”
“It hasn’t, only reaffirmed my beliefs about it.”
“We need you back Brother.”
Present Day
Today we announce that Nicolas Villa is returning to the ballot under the Armed Republic Party, for President of Mokastana. Many people believe that he will sweep up the ballots and become the next president, all that stands in the way is formalities. Here are the other candidates:
General Manuel Diego of the Socialist Worker’s Party- Former leader of the Socialist workers army. He wishes to return government to the working class. His goal is for a Mokastana that can not only defend itself but have a society that can be self reliant and help fellow workers around the world.
Generalissimo Jorge Gonzalez, World Proletariat Revolutionary Party- For the even farther leftist of Mokastana there is the World Proletariat Revolutionary Party, a recent movement that wishes to claim itself as the true Communist and socialist of mokastana, with recently developed but strong roots in the Sur region and growing, it is expected for Jorge to at least steal the election from General Diego.
Miguel Castro, Conservative Party-With growing support from Wellovia and the nothern lands of Mokastana Miguel Castro is moving towards a more Laissez-faire method of economics, being a former member of cabinet for Adam Jackson. However after the coup he agreed to stand down for a chance at the elections. Funded heavily by Montana Inc many skeptics believe he may be the first Company owned candidate...
