19-06-2008, 23:56
I'm Jim Hargrove with KBS News. Fmr Gov. Jennifer Hudson is beginning her acceptance speech. Let's listen in:

"Ladies and Gentleman, they said it couldn't be done. They said there was no way Kinstantia could ever elect me President. Well a funny thing happened on the way to the office: I got elected President of the United States of Kinstantia! (cheers and applause)

I'd first and foremost like to thank President Tempest for a hard-fought campaign. I'd also like to thank the citizens of Kinstantia for voting for me. Without you, I wouldn't be standing here today. To my husband, Richard, my children Keith, Samantha, Jared and Lance, thank you for putting up with the late night, long road trips, and constant stress of the campaign trail! WE DID IT! (cheers and applause) To the nations of Zayland, Deata, and Kurona, who proclaimed their support to me, I am grateful! Finally, I'd like to recognize the veterans of the War of Independence who are in the audience here and at home. Without your dedication and sacrifice, Kinstantia wouldn't be the great nation it is today (Thunderous applause and cheers)!

Today, you've put your trust in me. You've decided to trust me to make Kinstantia the nation that we all know it is destined to be: a beacon of hope, and freedom. I promise to do my job to the best of my abilities. You voted for me and a vote for me was a vote for Kinstantia (cheers and applause)!

We are seeing the beginning of a new day in Kinstantia. A day where the moral majority will finally be recognized in government. A day where those worried that we are becoming too liberal in our society will feel that their needs are being met. A day where women know now that they too can become President of the United States of Kinstantia.

And now, it's time to get work! God bless you, and God Bless Kinstantia! THANK YOU! (standing ovation, cheers and applause)

Thank you for tuning in this evening, I'm Jim Hargrove and this has been a KBS Special Report. We now return you to "Harry The Garbage Guy in: Beavers on a Bus!"

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program with this KBS News Special Report. Reporting from Keilvarga, Kinstantia is Jim Hargrove:

We've heard from President-elect Jennifer Hudson, now President Tempest is beginning his congratulatory speech at his campaign headquarters. Let's listen in.

"Thank you, everyone for your time. I'll make this brief. My campaign has learned this evening that there are reports of voter fraud and voting irregularities in 7 of the 10 Kinstantian states (jeers and boos). Should sufficient evidence be revealed that indeed these alleged acts took place, we will legally contest the election and ask for a recall election. (cheers and applause.)

It is my intent that every vote be counted. It is my intent, regardless of whether or not I am victorious in terms of the election, to make sure that no fraud has been committed.

Thank you, and good night.

Well, what a surprising turn of events. We here at KBS News had some reports of some irregularities, but not any fraud. We will continue to follow this story as it develops. I'm Jim Hargrove with KBS News.

We once again interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you this KBS News Special Report. Reporting from Tenlia City, Kinstantia is Kristina Koppa.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Tonight we come to you from the capital of the home state of Jennifer Hudson, Tenlia City, Tenlia here in Kinstantia for a special news report.

Since President Tempest has issued his statements about voter fraud and voting irregularities, we've been flooded with calls and e-mails. Here in Tenlia City, voters are angry. I spoke with one voter, named Stephanie Mills, who had this to say:

"Yea, I went to go vote today and pushed the button for President Tempest, but it said I voted for Jennifer Hudson. When I complained to the elections officials in the voting office, they told me that I must have pressed the button for Hudson by mistake.

I know I didn't vote for her. Why would I give up my right to choose?"

Elections officials here in Tenlia City have also noted that several of the voting machines may have counted votes backwards. These same reports are coming out of the following states: Mercaria, Henly, Hanover, Tasmania, Ordona, Eldin and Florine.

We will continue to follow this story across the nation. You can count on KBS, Kinstantia's #1 News Source. This is Kristina Koppa signing off! Good night!

KBS News interrupts your regularly scheduled program for this special report. Reporting from Keilvarga, Kinstantia, here is Jim Hargrove.

"Ladies and gentlemen, reports of voter fraud and voting irregularities have sprang up around the nation. The Liberal Party is placing increasing pressure on the Conservative Party, especially President-elect Jennifer Hudson, to ask for a new election.

Under Kinstantian law, a new election can only be called by order of the House of Representatives.

President Tempest has issued a statement from the Presidential Palace earlier today stating that he hopes that every vote is counted and, regardless of outcome, will contest the election if enough counts of fraud and irregularities are proven.

President-elect Jennifer Hudson has been unreachable for comment. Her campaign manager, Lynn Huffsky, issued a press release a few moments ago in which was stated:

President-elect Hudson and I are deeply saddened by the reports of voter fraud and voting irregularities. We stand with President Tempest to make sure that every vote is counted and that those accountable for this act be held responsible.

We are sending legal teams to each of the states that are reporting the irregularities and fraud to investigate, along with President Tempest.

Members of both the Senate and the House of Representatives are meeting tomorrow in a special session to discuss this issue.

Stay tuned to KBS News for information that you can count on 24 hours a day!

Good evening, this is KBS Newsline! (important sounding music plays). Live from Keilvarga, Kinstantia is Katherine Hickman

"Good evening, I'm Katherine Hickman. Tonight, Kinstantian Election troubles top the news. Voter fraud and voting irregularities in 7 states have cause widespread concern in this once quiet nation. Those in support of President Tempest have started demonstrating outside of the Federal Elections Commission today carrying signs stating that "Tempest Won, Hudson Cheated."

Federal Election Commissioner Heather Bunker allowed KBS News to interview her from her office this morning. Bob Rogers reporting.

Bob: Madame Commissioner, thank you for your time
Commissioner: It's my pleasure, Bob.
Bob: First and foremost, how many instances of fraud and irregularities have been reported to you and your office?
Commissioner: As of right now we've had 27,108 complains of fraud. People sent home from the polls unallowed to vote even though there was no legal justification for sending them home. We've had a few reports that police were used to block entry to voting offices, racial discrimination, sexual discrimination, sexual orientation discrimination. You name it, we've heard it. It's a real mess right now.
Bob: So what does this mean to the candidates, in particular, Jennifer Hudson?
Commissioner: Well, Bob, we do have to verify each and every claim of fraud. Our people are working around the clock to make sure that every person claiming fraud were people eligible to vote. We're also checking into the more serious reports of discrimination and police barricades. These are serious offenses.
Bob: And, should someone ultimately be arrested for this, what are the penalties they could face?
Commissioner: Bob, indeed this is serious. Any person committing voter fraud is convicted by a Class A Felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison per violation.
Bob: And what of the irregularities?
Commissioner: Well, some electronic voting machines may have counted votes backwards, instead of forwards, causing the candidate to loose votes. This has been found on both tickets that voted for Tempest and tickets that voted for Hudson.
Bob: Where have most of the accusations of fraud been reported?
Commissioner: Though 7 of our 10 states have reported fraud, Tenlia State has 55% of all fraud cases currently known.
Bob: Madame Commissioner, thank you for your time!

That was Bob Rogers, reporting.

President Tempest hasn't wasted any time sending his lawyers into those states where fraud and irregularities have been occurring. Not to be outdone, Gov. Hudson has also sent legal teams into those states.

In Tenlia City, Tenlia, Gov. Hudson's legal team gave a press brief about the situation with the Presidential Election. Charles Godwin III, Chief Counsel to Gov. Hudson had this to say:

"More cases of voter fraud have been reported here than any other state. As this is Gov. Hudson's home state, and the state that she was Governor of for 12 years, she is intent on making sure that people understand that in no way, shape, or form was she, or her campaign, involved in any of the alleged acts of fraud.

Protesters at the University of Tenlia didn't see it that way.

"This is blatant government overthrow! Hudson is responsible for this!"

"I don't see how this could happen in Kinstantia. This is the most depressing thing I have seen in a while. I feel like my votes don't count and Gov. Hudson is the reason!"

Not only did protester appear in Tenlia, but on University campuses nation-wide as the country grows more and more angry at the situation that's presented itself.

Some people fear Civil War. Others fear a President being elected who may not have been chosen by will of the people.

"We've been a free and independent nation for 15 years now. We've already had a civil war 3 years ago. I don't think the people of Kinstantia want more war, but they do want justice" said General Edward Woodward, the Army's top general in a press release he issued earlier today.

And now, a look at the weather with Tracy Williams!

"What fine news for this Ms. Jennifer ." Tomoyo said reading her paper.

"They are suspecting fraud."

"Hmm, now I know why we are a monarchy." Tomoyo said. "Fraud though? Why are they accusing her of fraud? Something seems wrong."

"Princess, I'm not so sure you are qualified to call such a mystery. Especially on these kinds of affairs in another country."

She sighed and sipped her tea.

"Something just seems wrong about the accusations."

"Discrimination?"

"Well aren't ballots supposed to be secret?"

"Not in all countries madam."

Conner Phillips was watching KBS News when his long-term boyfriend, Rob, came home from work.

"Hey sweetie!" said Rob with a smile.

"Can you believe this?" replied Conner with an air of disbelief in his voice.

"The election?" Rob said, "I believe it. How else could Jennifer Hudson ever be elected President of this country unless she stole it away from the rightful winner."

As news reports flashed across the television, Rob went into the kitchen to get himself some Skateraid Energy Drink. The Keilvarga Liberal Press Newspaper lie open on the kitchen table with the masthead facing up. The main headline read "Hudson's Victory Short Lived: Election Rigged." Next to that was USK Today with it's headline reading "Hudson Victory Tarnished Forever."

"Hey Conner," asked Rob, "are these papers saying she rigged the election?"

"No, honey, they're not." he replied. "They are saying, however, that it is odd that her state had the most fraud allegation. I am so glad that ballot are only semi-secret in this nation. It makes it easier to prove fraud."

Rob sipped his drink as he walked into the living room and sat next to Conner on the couch. Not wanting to believe this could happen in Kinstantia, Rob intently watched the news with his lover. Above the television was a picture of Rob and Conner shaking hands with President Nathaniel Tempest.

In the Presidential Palace, President Tempest was sitting at his desk talking to the Governor of Ordona, one of the states where election fraud had taken place.

"Gov. Young, has our legal team landed in Endora yet?" President Tempest asked.

"Yes, we have received them well, along with Gov. Hudson's team. We are willing to help both of you find out who the true winner of the election is. Our voting machines are being thoroughly tested to see if these are just glitches or if something else is afoot. " replied the Governor.

"I hope it's just glitches and this can be resolved quickly. I know that accidents happen, but this is serious. If there is anything that my campaign can do to help, let us know."

"Mr. President, I assure you we have the situation under control here. If we need help, we'll ask for it. I must get off the phone now. The speaker of the state legislature needs to speak with me." replied Gov. Young.

"Good bye." replied President Tempest as he hung up the phone.

President Tempest went back to reading the new bill the House of Representatives and the Senate had approved pertaining to the national language of Kinstantia and making the nation multilingual. He was keen to sign the bill into law as it would raise the educational standards of the nation.

His Chief of Staff walked into the office, knocking lightly on the door frame to attract the Presidents attention.

"Yes, Charlie?" said Tempest as he looked up from his reading and motioned for him to enter the office.

"Do you think that the Royal Family could have anything to do with this. I mean, they started the Civil War, and its possible that they are meddling in national politics again." Charlie Faulkner said as he sat down in front of the Presidents desk.

"Charlie," Tempest said with a sigh, "the Royal Family consists of two people now. Those who weren't killed fighting against the Nationalists were imprisoned for treason except for two. Claire, who fought along side us, and her nephew, who was too young to fight. And I know her nephew. He's more of a nationalist that you or I."

"Well, Mr. President, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House want to question the Prince. They've already questioned Claire. I know that your friendship with the Prince has been called into question lately, and maybe he's a liability. Maybe you should question him yourself when they are done with him."

"Well, I suppose you're right, Charlie, " Tempest said while shaking his head, "but I know the Prince. He wouldn't have anything to do with this." Tempest put the papers down and looked directly at Charlie, "I'll call him in, the Speaker and the Senate President can all be present so we can find out what he knows, if anything. Tell them I will have him here tomorrow afternoon around 3:00. Is there anything else? I'm busy."

"No, sir!" said Charlie as he stood up and started to leave the office. "I will call them both right now." And Charlie left.

Tempest reached over to the phone and picked up the receiver. He dialed the phone. "Hello, this is President Tempest. I need to speak with Conner Phillips please."

"Ok, I'll get him for you." said Rob over the phone. After a brief moment, Conner started speaking.

"Yes, sir." Conner said.

"I need you to come to the Palace tomorrow afternoon at 3pm. The Speaker of the House and the Senate President and I wish to speak to you about the election."

"You need to speak to me about it?" Conner questioned.

"They think that either you or your Aunt may have something to do with this election mess. I know you both are innocent, but the people are beginning to think otherwise. This would help clear the air. They've already spoken to your Aunt."

"Ok, Mr President, I'll be there at 3pm." Conner replied.

"It'll take a little time, but once it's over, we won't bother you again. You take care and tell Rob I said hello. I must get off the phone and get back to work." And the President hung up the phone.

Back at Conner and Rob's house, as Conner hung up, he turned to Rob. "They think that Aunt Claire and I had something to do with this election problem. They want to question me."

"How can they think that? You campaigned for President Tempest this election. You delivered the key note speech at the Liberal Party Dinner they held 3 months ago. If ever anyone was in support of elections, it's you." Rob said.

"I know," Conner said as he sat down in the recliner, "Now you know why I don't want anything from my family. I just want to be a regular person."

Rob walked over to the recliner and stood in front of Conner. "Unfortunately, kiddo, you aren't a regular person. You are the only heir of the Kinstantian Royal Family. You can never be totally normal no matter how many jobs you work. No matter how many miles you skateboard, no matter what you will always be a Prince."

"I know," Conner agreed with a huff, "but still, I just want to be free. Free of my Grandfathers memory. Free of how he beheaded nationalists and put their heads on pikes in front of Huntingdon Castle. I want to be free of all of that." Conner began to cry.

"It's ok, Conner." Rob said as he put his hands on Conner's shoulders. "You didn't do those things. Your father died fighting your grandfather and his tyranny. You aren't your grandfather. You are you."

Conner continued to cry as Rob held him in consolation.

We interrupt this program for a KBS News Special Report. Reporting from Keilvarga, here is Jim Hargrove.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we've received reports today that Queen Claire and Prince Conner have been questioned by the government as to their involvement, if any, in the election fraud case. Yesterday, the Speaker of the House Thomas Jones and Senate President Carl During informally questioned her majesty.

Meanwhile, Prince Conner, a close, personal friend of President Tempest was questioned at the Presidential Palace. While transcripts of the questioning have not been release, Presidential Press Secretary Marcia Wright made a statement after Prince Conner's questioning.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, I will make this brief. After extensively questioning the Royal family, we believe them to have no involvement in the current election fraud case. Lawyers are currently on the ground in all states investigating each and every allegation of fraud.

At this time, we are satisfied with their answers to the question. We will no longer be investigating the Royal Family as to their involvement in this matter. Thank you.

"Despite the fact that they are satisfied with the answers given, there are plenty of Kinstantians who have horrific memories of the Civil War and still believe that the Royal Family is involved.

In an informal KBS poll, 67% of those questioned believed that they were either directly, or indirectly involved with a conspiracy plot to control the government of Kinstantia. Also 45% of those polled agreed that the remaining members of the Royal Family should be expelled from Kinstantia.

That's all the information we have at this time. We will continue to keep you updated as developments occur. We now return you to "Desperate House Cats"

Holy Imperial Palace - Saint Alexander City, Rathanan

Holy Emperor Severus sat at his desk rubbing his eyes. As he picked up the proposal laying on his desk, he groaned. "The governor of Saint Peter Island is like a spoiled child... You give him something and he wants more." He grumbled as he stamped rejected upon the sheet of paper.

Soon after, there was a knock at the door. "Come in." Severus said, picking up the next proposal. The door opened and the Imperial Minister of Diplomacy, Ocatvius Lepidus, entered the room. "What is it, Octavius?" The Emperor asked with a slight sneer.

"You need a break, your eminence, you should see this!" Octavius said sounding almost giddy as he turned on the TV.

In other news, Kinstantia is currently undergoing investigations for voter fraud. Right now, there are no clear suspects, but President-elect Hudson may have quite a dilemma on her hands. Here to discuss the possible ramifications of this incident we have...

The Holy Emperor shut off the TV and gave his Minister of Diplomacy a blank look. "So what?"

"So what? It's entertaining! If nothing else it will make any and all 'power to the people' groups lose credibility here." Octavius answered.

"Octavius, you're my Minister of Diplomacy BECAUSE you find that stuff entertaining and I'm too busy to deal with it.. If you want my clearance to release a statement, go work your magic and leave me alone." Severus remarked. "Besides, there ARE no subversive 'power to the people' groups." He added.

"Of course, your eminence, I just find international politics amusing... But as you said, that's why I do what I do." Octavius answered. "I'll go make a statement." He added.

From the office of the Holy Imperial Minister of Diplomacy Q. Octavius Lepidus
The Holy Empire of Rathanan

We are greatly distressed at the possibility of voter fraud within the United States of Kinstantia. Holy Emperor Tiberius Lucius Severus hopes earnestly that the situation will be resolved in a timely and peaceful manner. While we support President-elect Hudson for her political views, we believe that a nation, regardless of the method in which it does it, has a responsibility to raise up leaders without instances of corruption. We shall continue watching these events as they unfold and we hope justice is severed.

President-elect Jennifer Hudson sat watching television from her campaign office in Keilvarga. She was quite tense as she continued to see story after story about the election fraud case on KBS News. She couldn't believe that her chances could be quelled by fraud.

'What if they try to pin the fraud on me?' she thought to herself. 'I actually have a chance to put this nation on the right track and then someone has to interveen in the process.' She was depressed. There was no other words to describe it other than depressed. What other emotion could she be feeling right now? Her life's dream was at her finger tips and it was about to potentially be yanked away.

Suddenly, there was a knock at her office door.

"Yes? Come in!" she said. The door opened and her campaign director Janet Miles walked into the office with a folder in her hand and placed it on the desk in front of Gov. Hudson. On the front of the folder was marked "F.Y.E.O."

"For my eyes only, eh?" she said with interest. "What's this about?"

"Governor, please read it carefully." said Janet.

Gov. Hudson began reading the document contained within the folder. Her eye widening with each sentence she read. Her reading grew more and more intense and she quickly flipped through the several pages that were there.

"You've got to be kidding me?" she said alarm. "There is no possible way that this could even be!"

"I'm afraid that's the intelligence on the fraud case, Governor." Janet said in consolation. "It doesn't look good. In Tenlia, out of 1,975,987 votes cast for you and 1,654,098 votes cast for Tempest, nearly 500,000 votes for you were fraudulent, and only 51 votes for tempest were fraudulent. There were also 117,000 irregularities in which votes for Tempest were counted backwards and 217 instances where votes for you were counted backwards."

"How did this happen?!" said Gov. Hudson angrily. "I want to know who is trying to f*** up my chances to be President! This is unacceptable!"

"The news coming out of the other states is slow. But in Tenlia, their work is done. " Janet said quietly. "You know it will be only a short time before Hargrove and KBS News get their hands on this information."

"But I didn't do anything wrong. I ran a campaign to be President. I committed no fraud. I didn't do anything wrong!" she said muttering to herself as Janet began leaving the office.

Back at Rob and Conner's house, things were still up in the air. Conner's phone wouldn't stop ringing as reporters kept calling trying to get answers to their questions, the press was camped out in the front yard trying to catch glimpses of him in an effort to get him to speak to them.

"Conner, you have to do something about this." Rob said, "On my way out the door to get milk earlier a reporter asked me if I thought you had anything to do with this election stuff."

"And did you answer him?" asked Conner.

"I told him that you didn't have anything to do with it and to leave us alone." replied Rob with a smile.

"Apparently, that worked well." said Conner sarcastically. "I think I just need to go outside and talk to them. Maybe that will keep them away."

Conner stood up from the chair and proceeded to the door. As he placed his hand on the doorknob, Rob said "Aren't you forggeting something?"

Conner said, as he turned to look at Rob, "What?"

"You're going to talk to the press dressed in a tank top and gym shorts?"

"Well, why not. Every trailer park that gets destroyed by a tornado has one dressed like this. There couldn't be a bigger tornado than what we're already in. So I think I am dressed for the occassion." Conner open the door and walked out onto the front porch.

As he entered the porch, the press clammered to speak to the young Prince of Kinstantia.

"Did you or Queen Claire have anything to do with the fraud?" asked one reporter.

"Is the Royal Family trying to continue to meddle in Kinstantian politics?" asked another reported before Conner could answer the first question.

"HOLD ON!" Conner shouted at the press. The press became very quiet and subdoed.

"I'm here to talk to all of you. I'm not taking any questions. One, I, nor my Aunt, have anything to do with the fraud that has taken place in the Presidential election. A free and independent Kinstantia was my fathers dream, and you know this. He made that dream something for me to be proud of and to preserve and protect at all costs. I wouldn't be preserving it, nor would I be protecting it if I were to influence the vote in any way, shape, or form. I resent and reject any implication in which either myself or my Aunt are to blame in any and all election fraud and irregularities."

"Secondly, you all know my position on being called Prince of Kinstantia. Yes, I am the direct decendent of King Robert IV, who was my father, killed in the civil war to protect our nation against other members of our family who tried to destroy it. I want no title of Royalty. I wear no crown. We are a democracy.

"Finally, I ask that you leave me, my Aunt Claire, Rob, our families and our friends alone. This is a sad time in our nation and there are more important things you can be focusing on. Thank you, and good afternoon"

And with that, Conner disappeared into the house, leaving the press trying to figure out what to do next.

Conner walked over to the couch and flopped on it, face down, stretching out from end to end.

"I heard what you said." Rob spoke quietly. "Must have been hard."

"You have no idea." said Conners voice, muffled by the cushins. "I think I just want to sleep right now." And Conner rolled over on his side, facing the back of the couch, and closed his eyes.

Rob walked over, placed a kiss on his head, and walked into the kitchen to start dinner.

This is a KBS News Special Report (important music plays)

Reporting from the House of Representatives is Jim Hargrove.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we interrupt your programming to bring you the latest news developments from here at the Capital Building.

The House of Representatives today voted on a bill that would pave the way for a new Presidential election between Hudson and Tempest. However, the motion failed 155-140. This brought swift reaction from members of the House.

Rep. Dan Huxtable, 3rd District, Tenlia (LP) had this to day, "Though a new election should be called, we must first finish with the business of investigating the current election results."

Tomorrow on in the House, they will be voting on a measure that would disallow any votes that are considered fraudulent, or irregular, and see if they can certify the election as is.

It is widely speculated that Gov Hudson would still win the Presidency even without the fraudlent votes.

In other Election news, more than 60% of all fraudulent votes cast in the election seem to have been cast for Jennifer Hudson. When we asked for comment, she refused stating that she wouldn't speak on the issue until it was resolved.

The nation of Hrstrovokia has also issued a statement condeming the election, dismissing our government should Gov. Hudson retain the office, and threatening to issue sanctions against our fair nation if this election isn't cleared up soon.

President Tempest had this to say regarding Hrstrovokia,

"This is a truly trying time for our new nation. We expect that the international community will take sides, and also actions, to insure that Kinstantia remains a free and independent nation. While we also share these concerns, the placing of sanctions would only serve to hurt the citizens of Kinstantia, not help them. We would consider the placing of sanctions against Kinstantia as an aggressive act against our nation."

That's all from the Capital Building, we now return you to "Tom and Sherry"

Official Communique:
The ASD would like to offer its support to the nation of Kinstantia. We underwent a massive civil wart not long ago and would hope to prevent that in this country. As such the ASD offers both troops, to act as peace keepers, and staff to aid with a possible second vote.

Official Communication:

Troops will not be required. However, we do invite the international community to help monitor a re-election process. With each passing day the House of Representatives keeps pushing a vote to have a new election, and the vote continues to move more and more in favor of a new election.

Thank you for you assistance!
