ATGL-8 with standard HEAT warhead below; the bulb protrudes from the end of the launcher when loaded

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e267/Flaw3dLegacy/ATGL-8.jpg

Development
The ATGL-8 has been developed to replace the SMAW/B-300 system currently in service with the Hamilayan Army. The weapon has been designed to keep up with today’s advances in armour technology, with much more power than the system due for replacement. It is also intended to significantly cut down on the back-blast produced by the SMAW to give the Hamilayan armed forces a capable anti-tank weapon for use in an urban environment to complement the FGM-148 Javelin guided missile system.

The ATGL missile system is intended to provide capability for infantry to defend themselves against enemy armour and attack enemy light and medium vehicular and slow airborne targets. Whilst the weapon may not penetrate the frontal armour of some modern main battle tanks, it can achieve kills on side or rear armour, and regardless, will do significant damage to the vehicle, impeding its operating capability. However, the main focus of the weapon is to destroy moderately armoured vehicles rather than tanks, such as IFVs, heavy APCs and self-propelled guns, as well as fortifications, which it does effectively and with ease. It may also be, in certain circumstances, an effective weapon against low-flying helicopters, as have its RPG predecessors been, although a dedicated MANPADS is of course preferable.

Characteristics
The unit is based on the Russian RPG-29, as an unguided rocket propelled grenade launcher with substantial capabilities against both personnel and armour. As with the RPG-29, it is a breech-loading weapon in two detachable parts, the barrel and the rear section of the launcher behind the front end of the shoulder rest. Safety catch can be seen above the pistol grip, and above that again mounts the 4x telescopic sight with night vision capability, able to be easily detached and replaced. An iron sights mount is in front. The launcher fires a larger round than the RPG-29, as well as the SMAW, and as such has a significant weight. It is designed for use in teams of two at minimum. In Hamilayan usage, the weapon will be assigned to a team of two, one gunner with the responsibility of the launcher and a rifleman, whose duty is to carry the detachable back end of the weapon as well as ammunition, spot targets and lay covering fire for the gunner.

Warhead
The ATGL-8 can be loaded with numerous types of ammunition. Its primary warhead for its primary role is an unguided ATG90 HEAT warhead with the ability to penetrate approximately 1150mm of Rolled Homogeneous Armour equivalent. The ATG90 uses a tandem-warhead system, where the front warhead sets off any explosive reactive armour upon the target, allowing the second stage to destroy it. The warhead is also able to penetrate up to 1600mm of concrete fortifications. Other ordnance able to be loaded include multipurpose HEDP anti-fortification/light armour warhead, or a thermobaric warhead capable of destroying fortifications or attacking personnel.

M11 'Cossack' Airborne Fighting Vehicle

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e267/Flaw3dLegacy/M11final.jpg

Background
Despite the relatively important role of airborne forces in Hamilayan military doctrine, the Hamilayan Army has suffered from a lack of available airborne fighting vehicles in the world today. Vehicles of the Russian BMD series, as examples of those few air-droppable armoured vehicles with an infantry transport capability, has been used in small numbers in Hamilayan airborne divisions. However, Russian equipment has been steadily phased out across the rest of the army over the past three decades, and the BMD-3 is the only combat vehicle from that nation which remains in service, causing logistical problems. The BMD-3’s AT-5 ‘Spandrel’ ATGM is also insufficient to defeat modern main battle tanks, a major source of criticism. A stopgap measure was made to modify the BMD-3 to carry the BGM-71 TOW or today’s AT-18 ‘Halberd’ but to rectify these problems fully a new vehicle was commissioned by the Hamilayan Army, the response being the M11 ‘Cossack’ Airborne Fighting Vehicle.

Characteristics
The ‘Cossack’ draws heavily from the BMD-3, as a tried and tested example of the concept in action. It is designed to give airborne and air assault forces an armoured vehicle to counter all battlefield threats, especially tanks and other armoured vehicles, as well as protection and mobility for infantry. Retaining the BMD’s amphibious capability, there are high hopes for the future of the M11 as an infantry fighting vehicle in Hamilayan light infantry divisions and the Hamilayan Marine Corps.

It is slightly heavier than the BMD-3, as it has improved armour and a larger infantry transport capacity. However, three vehicles are still able to be carried by an IL-76 or the Aequatian C-180 ‘Carryall’, standard tactical transport of the Hamilayan Air Force. With air assault units the Mi-26 ‘Halo’ heavy transport helicopter is able to carry one M11 vehicle. It lacks the BMD’s hull-mounted weapons.

Armament
The M11’s primary armament is the C211 30mm linear-action, gas operated autocannon. Relatively large 30mm calibre reflects a significant purpose of the vehicle in providing anti-vehicle capability for airborne forces. The cannon is able to fire a variety of ammunition, most commonly APDS-T, HEI-T and APFSDS at a muzzle velocity of approximately 1,150 m/s. The C211 is also effective against helicopters and low-flying aircraft.

The autocannon is able to effectively engage and destroy lighter vehicles with armour-piercing rounds, but against main battle tanks its main weapons are twin AT-18 ‘Halberd’ anti-tank guided missile launchers located on either side of the turret. The AT-18 ‘Halberd’ weapon, intended to replace the BGM-71 TOW, is a laser-guided (semi-automatic homing) anti-tank guided missile produced by Hamilayan Armaments Systems Incorporated. Using a shaped-charge tandem HEAT warhead, the missile is capable of penetrating up to 1350mm of RHAe from a maximum effective range of approximately 4 kilometres.

Missile weight: 24.6kg
Launcher weight w/missile: 106.8kg
Maximum effective range: 4.25km
Armour penetration: 1200mm RHAe
Time of flight to maximum effective range: approximately 18 seconds
Unit replacement cost: $115,000The vehicle also mounts two machine guns; one M301 7.62mm NATO general-purpose machine gun coaxially on the right of the turret and the commander’s weapon, a cupola-mounted MG51 12.7x107mm Russian heavy anti-aircraft machine gun. This may be fired either through the roof hatch or remotely from inside the vehicle. The lateral grenade launchers, whilst primarily for defensive purposes, are capable of engaging infantry with fragmentation grenades.

Protection
The M11 is armoured with aluminium-magnesium-zinc alloy plating over the aluminium chassis impervious to 12.7mm heavy bullet and offering moderate protection against 20mm cannon fire. The vehicle is ERA/NERA capable but usage of this is not recommended. 6 smoke grenade launchers are mounted on the turret, 3 on either side. M11 is fully air-conditioned and NBC protected.

Mobility
The M11 is propelled by a PFE-184 diesel engine which provides 600hp. With a power-to-weight ratio of 39 hp/ton, the M11 is a highly mobile vehicle. Like the BMD-3, it is fully amphibious, where it is also propelled by two water jets.

Personnel
The vehicle is operated by 3 crew (commander, driver, gunner) and is able to carry 5 infantry, the size of a Hamilayan fireteam unit. As with the BMD-3, the ‘Cossack’ may be paradropped with all personnel inside the vehicle, though often only the crew for safety, to increase the element of surprise.

AT-19 'Lance' Gun-Launched ATGM

The AT-19 Lance laser-guided missile is a narrower variant of the AT-18 Halberd ATGM designed to be fired from the 130mm C158 cannon on the M88 'Cataphract' main battle tank, with a similar role to that of the 9M119 Reflex launched from the T-80. The laser guidance pod is mounted on top of the turret rather than along the gun barrel and can rotate 360 degrees in all planes 180 degrees in front of the vehicle, allowing the missile to engage targets at greater height than the cannon can reach. This makes the 'Lance', in addition to its antitank capabilities, a potent weapon against helicopters and low-flying aircraft, and coupled with the power and rate of fire of the 12.7mm antiaircraft MG51 gives the 'Cataphract' good measures for self-defence against enemy attack aircraft.

M13 'Dragoon' Armoured Personnel Carrier

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e267/Flaw3dLegacy/M13DragoonAPC.png

Background
The Federal Republic Civil Guard, a paramilitary gendarmes force of the Federal Republic, recently contracted Hamilayan Defence Systems Inc. to design a wheeled armoured personnel carrier to replace ageing VAB vehicles. Emphasis was placed on reliability, low price and survivability. Military reforms, however, have given a new role to the motorised division in the Hamilayan Army, and to exploit this a wheeled APC was also a necessity. Thus the Army joined the Civil Guard in backing the M13 project, and its requirements were redefined to include a modular design. The importance of price was de-emphasised due to increased funding from the Army, the larger production run and the prospect of the Army passing its older M13 vehicles on to the Civil Guard as is usually the case with the Guard's equipment. The M13, designated 'Dragoon' and its variants are projected to become the chief vehicles of Hamilayan Army motorised divisions, and the vehicle also has a bright future with the Civil Guard and second-line military and security forces.

Characteristics
The M13 'Dragoon' is an 8x8 armoured personnel carrier drawing on elements of the Stryker and the BTR-80/90. It is highly modular, but the basic APC variant is suitable for military, police and security use.

Armament
The M13 has one remote weapons station, the normal armament being the MG51 12.7x109mm heavy machine gun to provide infantry support, with full 360 degree traverse and -15 to 45 degree elevation. This is easily replaced in the field by other options such as automatic grenade launchers or one ATGM. HDS currently has a project to develop a 20mm autocannon weapons system with coaxial M301 7.62mm NATO machine gun in progress which is being evaluated as an important option for the M13's primary armament.
The 'Dragoon' has four 80mm grenade launchers mounted towards the rear of the vehicle, mainly for smokescreen and countermeasures but capable of firing anti-infantry fragmentation grenades.

Protection
The armour scheme of the 'Dragoon' is composed of lightweight composite ceramic-aluminium plating, sufficient to protect against 20mm cannon fire and can defeat light anti-tank weapons with appliqué cage and/or reactive armour installed. The troop compartment has been the focus of additional protection efforts; side doors have not been installed for structural integrity, leaving only the rear hatch for exit and entrance. More importantly, the compartment is a separate module, inspired by the 'bathtub' crew compartments common on modern attack helicopters. This is made of lightweight titanium and is of 75mm thickness on all sides, enough to protect the vehicle's passengers against the effects of anti-tank missiles.

As the 'Dragoon' is expected to see its most use in Hamilayan service as a security and second-line vehicle, it has been designed to be mine-resistant for irregular warfare. To deflect blasts from anti-vehicle mines or improvised explosive devices, the vehicle features a steel V-shaped hull, also armoured with ceramic-aluminium plates, which is utilised as a fuel tank to meet the demands of the Dragoon's large engine. The separated passenger compartment also offers additional protection against mines.

Mobility
As the motorised division in Hamilayan usage generally acts as a mobile reserve, the Army has requested the vehicle be mobile as possible, able to operate on off-road terrain. This had to be balanced with the demands of the Civil Guard, operating on city streets. The M13 is powered by the PFE-185 diesel engine providing 450 horsepower, and is fully amphibious propelled by two water jets. It is also easily air-transportable by tactical transport, the A400M able to carry two vehicles or four vehicles on the C181 'Carryall', the main tactical transport aircraft of the Hamilayan Air Force.

Personnel
The M13 is crewed by a driver and commander, who operates the cupola-mounted machine gun. The passenger compartment has space and firing ports for 8 infantrymen, adequate for one Hamilayan Army fire team and one heavy weapons team or two Civil Guard patrol units.

M14 'Reiter' Infantry Fighting Vehicle

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e267/Flaw3dLegacy/M14ReiterIFV.png

The 'Reiter' infantry fighting vehicle is an IFV based on the M13 'Dragoon' chassis and is the most widely used of its many variants. The passenger compartment is smaller and the crew compartment larger to allow for a third gunner crew member.

The M14’s primary armament is the C211 30mm linear-action, gas operated autocannon. The cannon is able to fire a variety of ammunition, most commonly APDS-T, HEI-T and APFSDS at a muzzle velocity of approximately 1,150 m/s. The C211 is also effective against helicopters and low-flying aircraft.

The autocannon is able to effectively engage and destroy lighter vehicles with armour-piercing rounds, but against main battle tanks its main weapon is an AT-18 ‘Halberd’ anti-tank guided missile launcher located on the left side of the turret. The vehicle also mounts two machine guns; one M301 7.62mm NATO general-purpose machine gun coaxially on the right of the turret and a cupola-mounted MG51 12.7x109mm heavy machine gun, as on the M13. The rear grenade launchers on the M13 have been removed and replaced with eight launchers along both sides of the turret.

AT-20 'Sarissa' Heavy Anti-Tank Guided Missile

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e267/Flaw3dLegacy/AT-20Sarissa.png

Background
The primary anti-tank weapon of the Hamilayan military is the AT-18 'Halberd', a laser-guided HEAT missile, and has been a successful system in use by infantry, vehicles and aircraft. However, whilst powerful and effective, the 'Halberd' is a fairly conventional design, with no autonomous homing capability and insufficient to penetrate the frontal arc of the most heavily armoured main battle tanks. The Army commissioned a new missile system to remedy the AT-18's deficiencies in these areas.

Several concepts were considered for the AT-20 project. The most significant of these were a kinetic energy penetrator missile, a top-attack missile using EFP submunitions and the tandem HEAT, standard for anti-tank weapons today. The KE design was eventually selected for maximum speed, range and firepower.

The AT-20 is a next-generation anti-tank guided missile, designed to destroy heavily armoured targets. 'Sarissa' is designed first for use on the M15 'Companion' tank destroyer variant of the M13 'Dragoon' wheeled armoured fighting vehicle, which mounts four launchers. The 'Dragoon' chassis is planned to supply Hamilayan motorised units, which have no indigenous tank units, and the AT-20 will hence be the main heavy attack capability of motorised formations. It is also expected to become the most powerful anti-tank armament of Hamilayan ground-attack aircraft, and may see use in static defense emplacements.

Overview
The 'Sarissa' is a large, heavy, kinetic energy anti-tank missile. Its main guidance system is command-linked semi-active laser homing. It also utilises infrared homing as a backup guidance system which it will switch to in the event of an interrupted laser signal, such as a target with laser absorbent paint or destruction of the launch vehicle in mid-flight.

'Sarissa' is propelled by two solid-fuel rockets, the combined thrust of which accelerate the missile to high supersonic speeds of up to 1800m/s, increasing difficulty of interception and reducing the time in which the launcher unit must use semi-active homing methods to guide this missile.

Four AT-20 missiles are ready to fire on the M15 'Companion', with sixteen more in storage.

Attack
The AT-20 is a kinetic energy missile in the style of the American LOSAT, and has no explosive warhead. Over a third of its weight is concentrated in the warhead, which is made of depleted uranium staballoy (99.25% DU, 0.75% titanium). It uses its mass and speed to destroy the target, imparting a force of up to 65 megajoules. This is sufficient to defeat all known or projected armour schemes.

Electronics
As mentioned before, the AT-20 uses dual guidance in the form of semi-active laser homing and infrared homing in the terminal stage of its approach.

The Lamonian Ministry of Defense would like to order DPR's for the ATGL-8 anti-tank rocket launcher. 50 million standard dollars have been wired to your accounts in order to avoid any problems. It is our belief that this weapon system will provide our infantry soldiers with anti-tank capability, which will go well with our Armed Force's other Lamonian, Lyran, and Yanitarian military weapons.

We are also interested in the AT-20 'Sarissa' heavy kinetic ATGM; and would like to be informed of when DPR's for this missile will be available. We would also like to inquire about a version of the AT-20 that carries a radar jammer that would allow the AT-20 to defeat APS systems.

Thank you for your interest in the products of HDS. Your sum of 50 million $USD has been received, and the appropriate specifications for production are being wired.

At this time, the AT-20 is still in the final stages of development, although a fully functional prototype has been tested. Radar jamming has been planned for the production model. We hope to have the weapon released for official sale by the end of the month. As the 'Sarissa' is one of our more sensitive products, DPRs would not normally be freely available, but as Lamoni is a close ally of Lyras, a nation counted amongst the friends of Hamilay, we believe the necessary arrangements can be made.

[OOC: Thanks, hopefully that's the impetus I need to finally finish that thing :P]

Official Tribal Chiefdom of Vetaka Diplomatic Message:

To: Sales & Orders Department, Hamilayan Defence Systems
From: George Hammond, Supreme General Operational Directive Head of Vetakan Defence Force Special Operations Command (VDFSOCOM)

Subject: Acquisition of M11 ‘Cossack’ Airborne Fighting Vehicle.

Greetings,

Staunch and Honoured Friends of Hamilayan Defence Systems as part of the Tribal Councils commitment to maintaining Vetakan Defence Force Special Operations as a highly mobile and highly adaptable military strike force capable of penetrating, infiltrating and operating within any battlefield. It has been deemed necessary to replace our current fleet of Airborne Fighting Vehicles (AFV), a role currently held by a Pearce Weapons Incorporated Russian BDM-3. As a result after much review and debate it has been decided that Hamilayan Defence Systems will be approached with the intent to secure an acquisition of Domestic Production Rights to the M11 ‘Cossack’ Airborne Fighting Vehicle.

As part of the acquisition all production will be handled by Pearce Weapons Incorporated at its Land Transportation Division and its subsequent factory at Bagnall on Vetaka’s East Coast. Hamilayan Defence Systems Personnel will be granted full unrestricted access to the production line and the complex itself to ensure High Quality and the Contract is not broken or hindered. I hope this will be satisfactory for you and as a show of trust I have authorised your Bank Accounts to be credited the sum of $5 billion Universal State Dollars.

I hope to hear from you soon.

I bow to no man but I bow to you

Yours

George Hammond

Supreme General, Operational Directive Head of Vetakan Defence Force Special Operations Command

OOC: I am still interested in DPR's for the AT-20 'Sarissa' heavy kinetic ATGM when it's completed. I intended to use it as the primary Lamonian Air-Launched ATGM. I am also still interested on having a radar jammer on the Sarissa that would allow it to bypass APS systems.

OOC: Sorry, Lamoni, been in Vietnam for a fortnight and no time for internets. I'll try to attend to the poor neglected Sarissa soon, there will be a radar jammer but this is unknown waters for me so draftroom will have to go over it again.
