This is an OOC thread for the RyanBrum war here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=559065).

OOC: So, you have one ship left?

BTW, I'm setting up an OOC thread, and copying this comment over to there.

Jesus, you're actually smaller than me. That changes things.

OOC:Man I love when I prepare for thing ahead of time, you know that pole I placed down with the red ball on the top stops foreign signals from coming in. Something I learned when I played as the original ralkovia was to always place a signal stopper to stop spys, enemy communication, bomb signals, etc.

The pole that was placed in the middle of the oil fields recieved the signal for the detonation and stopped it, the bombs never recieved an activation signal.

What the heck? Plus, RR, I sent you a TG.

Greywatch... how does that change things?

It changes thing in the sense that I assumed you had more forces than me and a huge pop count like the other guy who initially started this entire conflict. This changes thing in the sense that if I get directly involved I'm NOT facing off against two massive nations, only one.

"Sir! They blew up the oilfields!" Said the Radio Operator.

"WHAT? DO THEY KNOW THE DISASTROUS EFFECT?!?" shouted the Major

"Radio in HQ and tell them to drop off sanitation teams."

"Yes sir" replied the Radio Operator

What are the distastrous effects?

OOC: And the funniest part is... you asked for this to happen. And mind you Greywatch has been using satilites to track your troop movements since last night. So I still would know where your nation is. Prolly not gonna do anything for now though since I'm at work.

I assume the effects on nature and the fact that it'll be a raging blaze for awhile.

Greywatch, You are tracking me, that is fine but you don't know where my nation is you can follow my ships around all you want but you don't know who they belong to because none of them have left towards my nations and no new ones have headed to them. My nation is not part of this conflict as far as you know.

How did he ask for it?

By being smaller and trotting around like he owned the place. Its just a figure of speech.

I used to be much larger but I didn't get on for a long period of time and it deleted my account

So yeah what now?

But your small now is my point ;)
AH don't worry yourself, not like I'm gonna invade you or anything, might just shoot down your transports at the very most.

It was fun when I was a large nation, but then I went on a long vacation and forgot about nationstates. I remembered it less than 3 days ago when I saw a thread about it, so I went "oh cool I wonder what happened to my nation?". Then I saw it got deleted and I went "aww man." What got me upset though is the fact that I can't find any of the posts from my nation in any of the threads here. Its like it just dissappeared.

<To Kenavt, if you're in cease fire then despite what our current employers say, Greywatch merc code applies. We're not firing if you're not firing. We'll not be aiming at you.>

I will end my cease-fire when everyone has decided to leave, and then I will leave. But if one of my enemies decides to stay (except RB, obviously) then I will continue to fight. Mainly because I'm bored.

Right, we're off! Same general scene is taking place on all the tankers, but I'd like to keep it confined to the one. Makes for better storytelling, and is far less confusing.

Information on weapons and armor used by my troops can be found in the various links in my sig. Four squads of Samurai (ten men each) are landing on each tanker. Six riflemen (M26A1s, Predator IIIs), a grenadier (Rifleman with the addition of a GL-6), a marksman (M26A2 and a Predator III), a gunner (armed with an M32 and Predator III), and a sergeant (same as rifleman) in each.

The ships have been flooded with smoke grenades from the Banshees, laced with the chemical Kolokol-1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KOLOKOL-1). Anyone coming into skin contact with the smoke would be KO'd within two seconds of exposure. It also blocks LOS nicely, but is quite permeable to the IR spectrum.

If you guys would please withdraw from my homeland. Im not saying you cant fight, you just can't do it here.lol

Well, ground combat is pretty much ended. Everything right now is happening at sea. Most that'll happen now is me returning any wrongfully acquired oil and possibly working out some sort of defense agreement. That and a fight aboard the tankers if the Ralkovians don't surrender/aren't all out cold from the Kolokol.

Yes and alert me via telegram when you have secured the oil.

To answer Mal's question: I've never really hard-statted Banshees (I r teh sux0rz at aerospace engineering), but it's basically a souped-up (larger engines and more armor) Osprey. The assault version that's being used here is armed with a chin-mounted GMG (used to fire off those gas 'nades) and a pair of M107's in door mounts. Not useful at all for anti-aircraft work, but reasonable for delivering troops into combat.
Reposted here for everyone's convenience. And lulz. Mustn't forget teh lulz.

Is there a place i can go to edit my nation's factbook? If so post a link.
Thanks
Otagia

You can't actually edit your nation page, beyond answering issues. Most people make a thread (or a wiki entry in some cases) detailing their nation. Population, ethnicity, legal system, military organization, that sort of thing.

Also, Ralkovia, how exactly does your gel armor work? As in order to hide someone's heat signature, it'd have to completely contain all thermal emissions. While that doesn't sound like a problem on the surface, you have to consider that this quickly results in the person inside boiling to death.

Not that it matters particularily much, given that the Samurai's Fumetsu na Heishi armor includes a couple other vision options, but just thought I'd point that out.
Ralkovia

the armor and the gel are two separate entities, the gel is on the outside of the armor. The gel changes temperature but the armor does not, the armor works best when blending in with heat but can blend in with coldness. The gel is more like a covering on the armor. It heats up due to electric sensors and small heating bulbs, it also has cooling systems that cool down, the electric sensors make the gel the same temperature as its surrounding. I know this doesn't sound plausible right now but thats because I am really really busy trying to finish my fact book.

Could you send me your factbook on your military gear?

Everything infantry related is in the PRA Small Arms link in my signature. Don't really have much in the way of data on my naval vessels, but then again, it shouldn't really come into play, as tankers don't really hold up too well to any sort of naval artillery.

I don't know if I should make the boarding of my ships interesting or not, should I retaliate....hmmm I shall flip a coin

Well, the armor that most Otagian troops wear is essentially a full NBC warfare space suit, complete with gas mask and independent air supply, so no, gas won't work on 'em. Not to mention the ship is already flooded with incapacitating gas (see Kolokol reference above), and a gas mask alone won't really help against that. Needs to be a fully sealed suit, as it works rather quickly through skin contact alone.

As for explosives, unless it was blowing into the ship's hold, there wouldn't really be any problem. A breaching charge is far too small to actually do anything, as are the grenades that the M26 and GL6 fire.

Out of curiosity, how does three grenades and an exploding door not have any effect, especially given that any tear in their armor would result in them instantly falling unconscious?
Ralkovia
23-06-2008, 23:29
IT JUST DOES

JK their suits are also like yours except with thick gel covering, shrapnel gets stuck in the gel and the armor protects them from the gas.

this picture of my transport ships is the suck (http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t180/arrondock/?action=view&current=bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb.jpg)

You do realise that A) My suits are HEAVY, about 20 kilograms. This means that while the wearer is well protected, they're not very good marathon runners. With a "thick layer of gel" thrown on, your soldiers are going to be about as fast as your average turtle. B) Body armor is generally rather useless against grenades. While hard areas will stop it pretty well, joints and other areas that can't be covered with ceramic plates are quite vulnerable. Gel armor would be equally unusable in these places, as it would reduce mobility to nothing.

See above for my fleet description.

Finally, your picture doesn't really tell me anything. Perhaps a more precise drawing is in order, with labels perhaps?
