"I'm Don Olseon your nightly news host, my guest tonight is Prime Minister Elenore Romney who is reflecting on her term before it ends with the upcoming election. This interview of course we'll be taking questions from the viewers via phone or e-mail. Our first part will talk about Romney controversial foreing policey that has given this nation struggles and triumphs, most notably with the Empire of Stevid. Madam Prime Minister thank you for being here. It's been one amazing run for you ups and downs alike, you've done many things such as uniting Kanami with more friends and boosting Kanami business abroad, you've carried us through two wars and ended a long time hostility between Kanami and Stevid well I guess first how do you feel about all this."

"It's a lot, a lot for me to deal with. Up's and downs certianly."

"Well let's begin with Stevid, truly the most formidable encounters in our countries history what sort of set of the spark?"

"Well if you remember we first started years ago when Stevid expelled Muslims from their country and we got off into a war of words with them before ending with the non-agression agreement. I wasn't quite a senator at this point but when I did come into the Senate it was shortly after the Kuronan Storm Crisis. I was trying to push for us to relate with Stevid and when we did, well needless to say the first try ended with miserable failure. All we did was fight a war and then fight another war.

"The War for the Southern Islands, that was one of your most difficult periods wasn't it?"

"It was horrible, never before was I so stressed out. With what is now the UIS of AHSCA was five small islands under our protection. A protection I signed before the First Hanover War and I think it's obvious I didn't meet their expectations. I consider that to be my greatest failure in my administration, the fact that I let my pride come before my judgement and I allowed thousands to be killed. It's something I think all of us are guilty of, us, Aqua Anu, Kurona, Stevid, all of us, let's face it, we all messed up pretty badly with the islands. I think we are more responsible than anyone else but yes blame all around. I should have negotiated more but I didn't, and I let the poor people of those islands pay the price. Shino is a wonderful girl, she is very forgiving though honestly we don't deserve it. There is nothing more I can offer up to them. No apology I can give can ever make up for the losses they suffered. But now they are free and they are independent.

"Despite the war, you decided to align and make nice with Stevid."

"Enough was enough, if we stayed enemies it would just lead to more conflict, I figured if we aligned with Stevid, we could put the fear of slaughtering each other out of our minds and well bring about peace between us. I think we've all grown tired of fighting. There were many things I did during the war that I'm not proud of and would take back if I could. I not only hurt those islands I promised to protect, I let Kanamians get hurt, I let my family get hurt. But all we can do is move forward and let the scars heal.

"When we come back, we talk about Romney's early days, stay tuned."

"Welcome back we have more to discuss with Prime Minister Romney. Going back to Stevid, your opponents say we should just sign an agreement of no-further contest and be done with them."

"That thought had crossed my mind, shortly after the hurricane and we all decided to come back to the table, I figured maybe we should just shut up for a while and let them be. But when it came time to meet and finally begin the negotiations, I felt that maybe it would be better for us to relate with Stevid, maybe we can catch each other when we fall. No country is perfect, and sometimes nations that want and try to do the right thing, like us, forget that. We are going to make mistakes. And I think it's a great deal easier for Tomoyo knowing she doesn't have to be the middleman between us. If anything this war was affecting her more than me having two allies be opposed. I think the course we are traveling is better for us all."

"With the upcoming elections, people around the table are feeling this, except for Minister Kamiah, do you fear that in this election that things will go to that?"

"I hope not, I really hope we keep slowly building the bridge over the gap between us in the Republic and the Empire. To think when I was running the question was, should we stop relating with Kurona? Now it's Stevid. Time will tell what is going to happen."

"Let's switch gears here to your domestic policy, praised and criticized alike. What do you think was the most memorable legislation."

"Oh my truly the issue over adoption by gay and lesbian couples. That wasn't an easy bit for me to approve and I had to make the changes to the bill, because the conservative judges, were threatening a challenge in the court, it would have been a nightmare for the judicial branch. So I asked to make some compromises. I was shredded by the secular leaders for that.

"You also paved the way for more democracy in the country for the people."

"When I was a senator one of the issues that came up was voter apathy, and I thought, what better way to cure voter apathy by allowing the people to participate in their government. And lowering the voting age to 16, which in the old days used to allow you to run for Senate. So now people are more involved and what they see is what they get. They still find reasons to blame us though."

(Laughter)

"Another major decision, was the idea to legalize marijuana use, as well as tobacco use and alcohol use. You, you promptly vetoed the bill."

"Over my dead body I felt. You know when you lose loved ones, it really makes you think. I lost my brothers to drugs, I lost my sister to a drunk driver, it was terrible. These substances have no place in the Republic. Our founding mother tossed all the barrels of rum and whine into the sea. She did it because the drink turns gentlemen into criminals. The Government has a obligation to protect it's people, even from themselves. If they don't like it, they can leave."

"What can you tell us about the Child Protection Act?"

"That's a bill I was working on since my days in the senate. Frankly every night I was getting tired of seeing people care about their animals more than our own children. Child abuse is horrible, and I wanted to make sure those who committed such acts as horrendous. I upped the penalty, no more of this manslaughter for killing a defenseless child in fit of rage, no more of that non-sense. "

"Okay we're going to take another break, stay tuned."
