Your Choices for Gibberish American President in 2009

Gibberish America

Next year, Gibberish America will hold its next Presidential Election. The states have voted for their candidates from the Democratic and Republican Parties already. Here are the two choices:

-Republican: Former Marine captain and Secretary of National Security Derek Schmidt, also the Head of Joint Chief of Staff's brother in law. He promotes taxes on petroleum and cars, along with the building of solar, wind, and hydrogen power plants. IS one of the few Republicans that support abortion, but not gay marriage. Promises to increase foreign relations yet staying neutral in world conflicts, and cut taxes and continue eliminating deficit/debt while still keeping a surplus in the economy. Encourages immigration and urban expansion.

-Democrat: Canadian preacher Richard Liang. He promotes more spending in education and investing in sports programs, and endorses small business along with a more "moral" society. He wants to cut military spending and create stricter censors on media such as music, movies, and video games. Does not support abortion (not surprisingly) and wants to eliminate private tax collection services. Encourages isolationism and investing in churches.

you've got the two parties mixed up. The republicans are neo-NAZI's, the democrats the liberals.

Its his country. Let him run it as he wants.

And as a former republican, I resent the Nazi comment.

Yes, but society in Gibberish America is different in that of the US. I try to keep much of the views for each party yet mix them up a bit for originality. Personally, I don't care who you vote for. Everyone is entitled to their own vote.

you've got the two parties mixed up. The republicans are militarist pro-gun conservatives defenders of traditional values, Christianism and patriotism, the democrats the pseudo left wing single-cause activism social democrat anti-gun peaceniks who ironically were the pro-slavery Confederates in the 1800s.

OOC: I love your nation's name.

Kharanji political commentator (and, coincidentally, also the government's Minister of Internal Affairs) Antonin Buram submitted the following critique of the political situation in Gibberish America:

"The first item one notices is two political parties; the 'Democrat' and the 'Republican' parties. Already this speaks much about the Gibberish American political climate; the ideologies of democracy and republicanism are very close together, both implying a system based on economic exploitation of the lower classes and rule by a tyrannical mob. But moving on from that small point.

"The first candidate, 'Republican' Derek Schmidt, appears to support sprawling, expensive, and inefficient sources of energy over the low-cost and more productive facilities whose mettle has been proven by history: coal, oil, even nuclear power plants. Examining further Captain Schmidt's positions -- and need I add that that his military service is the one item which even makes him worthy of considering from a sensible viewpoint -- he seems to propose that taxes be cut while debt is eliminated; and that foreign affairs be pursued but war avoided. To cut taxes and eliminate debt one must also lower expenditures, yet Captain Schmidt has only mentioned raising expenditures in his campaign; should he be elected, therefore, I can see Gibberish America only going further into debt and deficit. As for the second of these, it is likely that his hesitancy to make alliances for fear of becoming embroiled in conflict combined with the lack of actual combat experience for his military forces will lead Captain Schmidt to end up as president of what, to a larger imperialist power, must seem like a sitting duck.

"Finally, I might add that he supports policies like immigration and abortion which can only lead to trivializing the values of society as foreigners usurp Gibberish American culture while sexual promiscuity and immorality become rampant.

"As to the second candidate, 'Democrat' Richard Liang, he seems on the surface more positive: he supports public education, religion, and small business. However, as one goes deeper into his record one unveils positions as far-fetched and untenable as those of his professed rival (with whom, I might add, he only comes into direct conflict on one issue, and that being a position in which he strips women of their right to choose). He supports the reduction of military expenditures, a proposition so ridiculous that most of the world's 'civilized' politicians have long since abandoned it, and I need not detail here; he supports giving money to one of the world's largest and most financially bloated organisations, the Catholic Church, already receiving far more than sufficient; perhaps the clerics who pass around the collection plate must do so from the back seat of a limousine? As for his endorsement of small business, any economist worth his salt can tell one that attempting to drive out large corporations by supporting small ones will only lead to higher prices, unemployment, inflation and a host of other problems. Et cetera, et cetera.

"In short, it seems that Gibberish Americans have very little to look forward to this coming presidential election; whoever wins, they still get the short end of the stick. I call upon an informed, intellectual minority to arise, drive out the populists, and take over the rule of the nation with common sense and without compromise to satisfy a blind mob. Should an example be required, one need look no further than Kharanjul."

The article was widely praised and discussed for about a week, until Buram disappeared from his home one night -- evidently the work of vile terrorists -- and all records pertaining to him were destroyed in a series of inexplicable small fires that destroyed his papers utterly but harmed nothing else around them. He had been a very good Internal Minister; however, the Ministry of Torture had gotten some brand new equipment and the Emperor had a nephew whom he wanted to get started in the MoIA, preferably at a high ranking entry level position.

I took note of that, and I changed the font size. Thanks for pointing that out.
