Griffincrest forces were stretched across the globe, and another direct military action against a hostile nation was turned down by the Board of Directors in Paradise City. Still, however, Claudius knew that nations like "Lord Sumguy" and his pitiful alliance could not be allowed to hop on the band wagon and attack a fellow nation of the CA, merely because it was at the moment the popular thing to do, and they were going to try and make a name for themselves. The Hegemony was not to be feared, nor was Lord Sumguy, and they would soon pay dearly for their attack on the Deserted Territories.
Claudius Griffincrest was up nearly all night, trying to find a plan that would cripple Lord Sumguy, and not be too heavy a burden upon his corporation, when he finally found it. He walked into the Board meeting that he had called with bags under his eyes and a cup of coffee in hand, with a huge smile on his face.
“Gentlemen of the Board, I present to you with our new course of action concerning the situation between Lord Sumguy and our ally the Deserted Territories. As we all understand, a full out invasion of Lord Sumguy is out of the question. It would leave our forces far too thin, and would also present itself as another potential battlefield for all of those anti-Griffincrest nations out there. What I propose, men, is a campaign of unrestricted submarine warfare against the nation of Lord Sumguy.”
Claudius then clicked a button on the remote in his hand, bringing up a massive PowerPoint display on the wall. It was a picture of the Sumguyan coast, with major cities and naval bases marked off, as well as all major sea lanes.
“This is the coast of Lord Sumguy. Marked off are the major cities and sea lanes of that nation. What I am proposing is that we send several dozen wolf packs of our newly acquired Akula class nuclear submarines. Not only this, but I also propose open water strikes on vessels flying the flag of Lord Sumguy. I fully understand that this will likely bring international protest, but we are already well in the hole, what’s another few feet down? Now, any questions?”
A moment of silence filled the room, before one of the senior Directors raised his hand.
“Claudius, this will undoubtedly lead to more problems for us, and it has been shown in both world wars that the whole concept of unrestricted submarine warfare does relatively little to affect a nation, other than inconvenience the citizens.”
“This is true” Claudius responded “which is why this will be accompanied with a propaganda campaign via satellite and pirated radio, informing the people of Lord Sumguy that they are in a war for no reason, Lord Sumguy was never attacked or threatened, and Sumguyan forces are dying for no reason thousands of miles away. We will also ensure them that the campaign will end as soon as Sumguyan troops pull out of the DT campaign, and all will return to normal. Remember, gentlemen, that this is in no way Lord Sumguys war, and hopefully, the Sumguyan people will see that.”
The decision was soon made, and within the hour dozens upon dozens of wolf packs were preparing to descend upon Sumguyan shipping.

OOC: of course, you do realize OOC'ly that this whole international war agaisnt you and the CA was my idea, and that I'm the one who has been pushing it most, don't you? LS (The character) and my govt. have been planning a war against the CA since the Hegemony was created.
I'll have an IC response later.
OOC: This Looks Interesting
OOC: So, this is a good time for Hurtful Thoughts to plot Maldorians' death, seeing as you're occupied now. :D
Seeing as this is OOC, you never knew that, remember. I'll watch this with keen interest, you guys can RP well so it should be a nice thread.
OOC: I'll go get the popcorn!

SIC:
Tucker Boot was a Capitalist, was a good friend of Griffencrest.
He never fought a single oil war,
But he helped them fight their wars.
And they always had some mighty fine wars.
Saying...
Hey, Mr. Griffincrest!
I've got a plan for you, now!
Put your subs in our Sumguyan colony!
And they'll blow them out of the sea!
As I'm the Vantanian King,
I'll tell you what I'll do:
I'll supply all your subs and your cruiser ships,
Sink east coast ships.
Sayin...
Hey, Mr. Griffincrest!
I've got a plan for you, now!
Put yours subs in our Sumguyan colony!
And they'll blow them out of the sea!
Y'know I love the money,
Love to have my oil.
I've got high explosives and bullet clips,
Arms for oil, to help you in your toil,
I said a-help you in your toil!
OOC: LS is shaped like the US, but bigger. He sold me a colony, in the Caribbean, a while back. I'll let you refuel and resupply your subs there, but it's got to be discrete. Loose lip, sink colony, and all that.
And why don't you have an SLBM spray a disease over his country?
(OOC: Because spraying disease over a country is for N00bs - no storyline, just an act to kill off the population because he can't think of any other tactics. Plus the fact that the Hegemony would respond in a similar way. A bit of a two-edged sword in that sense.
Anyway Antigr, time to sit back and watch the thread descend into a maelstrom of OOC spam and bitching.)

OOC: I don't know about that. Clandonia Prime and Ackistan did it beautifully a few years back. Before you knew it, there were medical teams trying to find a cure, scores of nations being infected, and teams desperately trying to find out who it was that shot the missile.
Pity Ackistan isn't around any more.
BTW, who would the Hegemony retaliate against? Griffincrest is a corporation, not a country, and GC's holdings are already being assaulted by Allanea. So, short of attacking a neutral country, or just dumping it on DT, there's no one to attack.

The Akula class submarine GC-207 was only a few miles out from the maritime border of Lord Sumguy when its target presented itself. A large freighter flying the Sumguyan flag had appeared on the horizon. The captain of the submarine was quick to act, and soon, the ship was within torpedo range. After a volley of torpedoes, GC-207 took off out of the area. The captain would mark down the spot, and return later in the week to see if he had made a kill or not. For now, however, they would not know. All the men on the ship knew was that they would have to get out of the area as fast as possible to avoid being caught by Sumguyan anti-submarine patrols.

Office Of The Hegemon, Hegemony Headquarters, Sumguaia:
"How long has this been going on?" the Hegemon asked, looking at a sheet of paper as a Vice-Admiral stood before him, a frown upon his features.
"For several weeks sir, merchant and cargo vessels of our nation have been attacked all along the border between our national territory and international waters." The Vice-Admiral replied, pointing to a map upon the Hegemon's desk. "We dont know who is attacking us yet, but we suspect that it is a nation of the Corporate Alliance." As he spoke he shifted his feet nervously. He had never thought that he would be giving a report to the Hegemon personally, but Admiral Stevens was gone and he had been chosen to give the report in Stevens' staid.
"I see. Lord Sumguy said, running a hand through his hair as he sighed. This is most unfortunate. I doubt it will do much damage however, as the greatest effect it may have upon this nation is to somewhat harm our shipping industry. Our economy is more than able to withstand submarine warfare He pointed to a small island on the map. Vantania maintains a colony in the carribean that we sold to them at a low price to house refugees from their former homeland. Unfortunately, I do not trust Dr. Boot not to use our act of goodwill as a means to attack us, and as a member of the Corporate Alliance Vantania is likely either conducting these attacks or permitting whatever nation is to use that colony as a base." He continued, rubbing his eyes, weariness evident in his features.
"Do you wish us to move to retake the Vantanian portion of the island?" The Vice-Admiral asked, his eyes shining in anticipation. He had always been a bit of a hawk, and an attack upon the colony would give him a chance to prove himself as a strategist and possibly mean a promotion. "Vantania is weak in it's current state, and as a member of the Corporate Alliance must be considerd an enemy. "
The Hegemon shook his head. "No. Vantania is not a threat on their own, they cannot hope to defeat us in an armed conflict. Furthermore, Dr. Boot will not keep his nation in the Corporate Alliance if he knows it to be about to fall. If we succeed in other fronts against the Corporate Alliance, then there need be no action agaisnt Vantania. As far as the problem of these submarine attacks, the most we can do is step up patrols on the border of our national waters and around the Vantanian colony within our territory. Our military has bigger fish to fry than a few submarines however, and we cannot divert resources from our effort in the Deserted Territories to deal with a threat as small as this."
"As you command, sir." The officer said, trying unsuccessfully to hide his disappointment. “It shall be done.” He continued, And saluted before exiting the room.
As the Vice-Admiral left, the Hegemon began to chuckle. So eager to fight, if only you knew the true horrors of war.

OOC: A few things LS: Boot isn't a doctor. Also, no-one but CA nations know I'm in the CA. In addition, we are not "in a weak state." Finally, it's Vanteland, now.

The lack of a real response from the Sumguyan navy allowed Griffincrest submarines to continue laying waste to ship after ship in Sumguyan waters. Not only this, but the Akula class vessels were now being reinforced by several dozen Yankee class submarines, which began joining the other submarines and taking their part in the interdiction of Sumguyan shipping. Aside from the Yankees, the Chieftain Class Pocket Battleship Treasury, along with a handful of destroyers, began patrolling known Sumguyan shipping lanes, sinking any vessels shown to have their affiliation with Lord Sumguy.
To further the discomfort on the citizens of Sumguy, Claudius Griffincrest authorized a strike on any and all Sumguyan orbital assets. ABM platforms, God rods, spy sats, televisions, radio, internet and phone satelites, as well as scientific satelites, all were targets of the Griffincrest armed Soyuz fighters, solar sailors, and Hunter Satelites. The people of Sumguy, although they would not be dying, would be feeling the war at home. The increase in prices and lack of luxury such as satellite TV and radio would surely bring about the question of "Why are we there?" and "Is it worth it?" in many a Sumguyan newspaper.
