"Ela gloria ist essa di." Joshua spoke the prayer softly before a large statue of the Goddess Avá. The Temple of Ranwara was quite large and quite cold, Joshua shivered slightly while kneeling and continuing the prayer.

"Ik geba meg selvt es di mår." he rose and set his offering of gold at the foot of the statue and began the long walk to the end of the great hall...

---

He exited the large temple and was temporarily blinded by the shocking Rinvian sun, he put his hands over his face to shield his eyes and allow them to adjust. He was modestly dressed in slacks and a loose fitting shirt, his shoes were dirty, in fact the only thing he was wearing that distinguished him from bums on the street was his watch.

"Shit!" he glanced at his watch and felt a pang of anxiety enter his chest. He was late. Late for a very important meeting. He pulled his cell phone from his pocket and quickly dialed a number.

"Rebella? Please tell Councilman Sidera that I'm going to be late."

"What's wrong Mr. Heltzer?" a hint of worry could be heard in her voice.

"I was in devotion and I lost track of time. Just do it please."

"You know...Mr. Heltzer...why do you even attend devotion, you're the only person I know who still adheres to that ancient-"

"Schüsmekt bei kanna ist! I'm not in the mood for a lecture right now, I'm fucking late! Councilman Sidera is going to kill me. Just call him and tell him I'm going to be late!" he shouted and for a moment he though Rebella had hung up on him.

Yes, Mr. Heltzer, I'll call him for you. No need to be rude." she sounded thoroughly exasperated now.

"Deina di schön." he hung up the phone.

Note: The foreign language you see above is in fact (if you hadn't already guessed) something I made up. It is Rinvian. A-not so subtle-combination of English and German. The translations are not important right now, but if you absolutely must now what was said I will tell you. Oh and sorry for the lazy ass first post, I had an idea for a really good introductory post to the IC thread but it would have been insanely long and I don't feel like typing it out right now. Maybe later.

Marcus woke up, quickly jumping up frmo the chair he had slumped down in, ruffling papers everywhere. Blinking wearily, he looked around the small hotel which he made his temporary residence. "Shoot" He muttered, bending down to pick up the mess of papers he had to condense to make his resume. Brushing his hair back, and clearing a bit of junk out of it, he sat down again. "I KNOW I put all this onto a single paper last night, where is it??" He franticly dove into the papers, quickly scanning each one for his finished resume. "Finally." He sighed, picking up a small piece of torn-up paper. "Ah, this won't do. Printer, printer, where's the printer..." He looked around, and walked towards his laptop. Plugging in the printer beside it, he put in the paper, and hit Copy. Quickly snatching up the paper that came out, he rushed out the door.

As he ran outside amidst the chatter of people, and constant clacking of footsteps, he glanced at his watch. 0:00. Shite, it must be broken!! He thought angrily as he ripped off the watch and threw it into a nearby trashcan. Running into a small building with a sign that marked it as a small programming company, he ran in, and told the clerk, a sure tone in his voice despite his inner butterflies: "I'm here for the meeting. Marcus Antony? I'm sure he marked me down."

"May I see your resume Mr. Antony?" A large man in a business suit asked. "Yes sir, I have it here." Marcus quickly handed over the piece of paper he called his resume. "Mr. Antony...." The man hesitated "This paper is blank." Turning the paper towards him, Antony saw that it was blank. Damn Printer must have been out of ink! Marcus let his head slam down against the desk in front of him. It was going to be a looong day...

Joshua jumped in his car and quickly made his way home. A short, but seemingly eternal fifteen minutes later he was rushing up the stairs to his third floor apartment. He scanned the hallway as he ran...254...255...256! He fumbled with his keys, trying to get the right one the first time.

"Shaiß!" he yelled when the first key didn't work. He grabbed another key.
"Di gosst die kiddan mescht!" he screamed. He was late and was only getting later.

An old lady peered out from the door next to his: "Du laheildjeget! Have some consideration for others. Screaming isn't going to get the door open faster!" she shouted, clearly mocking him.

"Ficken sie austa!" he shouted back, not even realizing he just told a seventy-three year old lady to fuck off. He finally got the door open and ran inside to collect his papers and change out of his humble clothing into a suit fit for a man of his position.

----

He ran inside the City Council building (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fc/Gbuildings.jpg) and was promptly stopped by security.

"Identification please." the large man said as he shoved Joshua back. Joshua stared blankly for a second before fumbling in his pocket for his clearance card.

"Where is it? Where is it? Fick, vas ik legen essa!" he shouted. Could his day get any worse? He had obviously left it at home. He was so very late and this wasn't helping. He glanced at his watch...5:30 he was thirty minutes late for an hour long meeting.

"You have a filthy mouth Mr. Heltzer. Seeing as you have no identification and you are in a restricted area you'll be coming with me." he smirked as he said it. Erik had a reputation for being an insufferable jackass and now he was proving all the rumors about him true.

"I can't! I have to get to a very important meeting. You know who I am Erik! Let me through!" Joshua shouted.

"Sorry Mr. Heltzer. No I.D. No entry. Now come with me."

"No!" Joshua tried to push his way through. He didn't make it a foot.

-----

Joshua was shaken awake by Councilman Sidera. He looked around and finally back to Sidera himself... they were in a dark room with a single light hanging from a line in the center of the room.

"Councilman Sidera? Where are we?" Joshua asked. Sidera looked him over and assessed serverity of his injuries. Joshua had a black eye and a large cut on his forehead from where the guard, Erik, had hit him in the face with his truncheon.

"You are in an interregation room because you tried to bypass security. Why didn't you just call? I would have sent someone down to get you...you were always a stubborn idiot Joshua...." Sidera said the last part under his breath.

"I'm sorry to have caused you any trouble councilman. I'm also sorry that I was unable to attend the meeting."

"Don't worry. What you missed what just the first move Joshua. Your role has yet to come..." Sidera walked to the steel door and pounded three times. It opened; Councilman Sidera glanced back towards a confused Joshua, "I'll be back to retrieve you in an hour," he walked away. Erik, the man who had whacked Joshua over the head, stepped inside the room dragging a chair behind him. He set it in front of Joshua and plopped down. He stared at Joshua as he lit up a cigarette and blew smoke in Joshua's face...and laughed.

Ranwara

It was still bright outside as Sharifa half-walked, half-crawled in to the hotel room she had rented out. Jet lag sucked, she decided. Ah, well, as least she had escaped the Protectorate now at last. She had hated that place terribly.

"Hopefully this place will be marginally better," she murmured aloud to nobody in particular, dropping her bags in the first room and seeking out the bedroom immediately. She kicked her shoes off, followed by socks, and flopped on to a large, unfamiliar, but surprisingly comfortable bed. Tomorrow, she would head in to the city proper, and seek out a job, but for now, she rested.

Analy Maras awoke bright and early. It was her first day of school. She had never been to a school ever. Her parents home taught her much like other children. She woke to fix a breakfast for her mother, she loved her mother dearly she was all she had in this new country. "Morning Mama."

"Honey, oh did I over sleep? I was..."

"No, it's okay, I wanted to wak up early. it's my first day. I'm nervous though."

"I wish I knew how to calm your nerves baby, but this is all new for me as well. Had we still been on the island I would be expecting you to be courting or otherwise married."

"Well, we're here now, so let's make the best of it. Papa would say that. I better go, I'll be late."

"Wait wait. I packed this last night." Her mother handed her a lunch packed up neatly in a box wrapped up in a cloth. "See you in a while okay?"

"Love you." They hugged and bid farewell.

As he said, Councilman Sidera came to retrieve Joshua an hour later.

"Get up Joshua, we're leaving." he said as he pulled Josh up by his arm. They quickly exited the CCB and headed towards the parking lot. Joshua made towards his white sedan but Sidera pulled him away, "We're taking my car today. Follow me," a car alarm beeped in the distance as Sidera unlocked the car doors to a small black car. They both got in and buckled up. Sidera put the car in reverse and backed out of the parking lot.

"If I may sir, where are we going?" Joshua asked.

"The second move is about to begin..." Sidera muttered.

"Wha-"

"Don't worry about it. It is none of your concern Mr. Heltzer. Now please be quiet, I'm trying to think." Sidera snapped.

-----

They pulled into an underground garage under a very large building in the center of the city.

"This is the Rinhalt building isn't it?" Joshua asked.

"Yeah," Sidera pulled into a parking spot and turned off the car, "lets go Mr. Heltzer."

"Okay." Joshua got out of the car and followed the Councilman to the elevator at the far side of the garage. When the doors opened they entered and Councilman Sidera pushed 11 on the touch pad beside the doors. The elevator doos slid shut and they began their ascent to the 11th floor.

-----

The elevator dinged indicating that they had arrived at their destination. The doors slid open revealing a brightly lit office building with employees bustling about, rushing to and fro with papers littering the areas between cubicles.

"Follow me." Sidera said. They weaved their way through the crowd of corporate slaves and came to a large oak doors labled 'Konference de Zimma' (The Conferance Room). Sidera pushed the doors open; inside were six men dressed like Sidera: black suits, white hair, glasses and a grim expression. 'Typical stereotype', Joshua thought to himself as Sidera led him to a chair and told him to sit. Sidera leaned close and whispered in his ear, "You are about to witness history, and the plans we in this room have made will only be possible with your help. Think carefully about what you say, Mr. Heltzer, while you are in this room. And you may leave it with your life." Sidera walked away and settled into a chair next to Josh. All the color left Josh's face and he suddenly felt very cold.

OOC: My story arch is about to get very complicated. So I'll let everyone else make a few posts before I continue. You know...to get settled. All are good posts by the way.

Marcus sat down dejectedly on the small bed in the motel. Slowly leaning back, he brought the pillow up to his face. Pushing it against his face, he shouted at the top of his lungs. Sitting back up, he walked over to his printer, picked it up, and dragged it over to the window. Opening it up, he threw the printer out the window into the alleyway below with a simple goodbye. "Good riddance you piece of shit."

Leaning back on the bed, he felt himself drifting into sleep despite the papers constantly shifting beneath him. Why can't I ever seem to get anything? As soon as something comes my way, it leaves as soon as it sees me. He let out a little sigh and closed his eyes.

Joshua sat back in his chair, he felt cold and sick. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear a word of anything the men around him said.

'What the hell is going on...' he thought.

"Joshua. Joshua. Joshua!" Sidera shouted for the third time, causing Josh to start violently, he straightened his jacket and said, "Yes, Councilman?"

"You should watch this." Sidera hit a button on a small remote he had in his hand and a large screen slid down from the ceiling. It flickered momentarily before showing a crowd in front of a very large building. Joshua shuttered when he realized it was the seat of the Volkerstaag (Parliament).

"Wha-" Josh stopped short, he saw the Prime Minister walk down the stairs and begin speaking to the crowd as several guards began securing the perimeter around him.

"Juges ans der Man. Heer Majisti, des Könis." the crowd erupted into cheers and applause as the King descended the stairs. It was his first public appearance in a long time. His face was shown in sharp relief as the flashes of a thousand cameras captured his image. Behind him was the Commander of the Royal Guard, Edwyrd Heltzer. Joshua's father. Joshua saw his father walk away from the king and speak briefly with several guards before walking the rest of the way down the stairs and getting into a truck parked nearby. The camera followed him briefly before refocusing on the King.

"Meina volk, essa pl-" the image blacked out and a large explosion could be heard. It was so loud it seemed to shake the room. In fact, the explosion was so powerful and so close by it did shake the room. The image cleared and the ruins of the Volkerstaag and the people around it could be seen. Joshua paled and looked at the people around him. He screamed and jumped up and ran for the door. He was shot in the back.

"Di ficken edjeda!" someone yelled. Joshua's vision tunneled. He heard Sidera telling someone to get a doctor immediatly. Another shot was fired and the man who had shot Joshua fell to the floor in a pool of blood.

"His father will be here shortly. Get him to a hospital now! I'll deal with Commander Heltzer."

Loud ringing noises from the alarm clock woke Sharifa long before she wanted really, but, then, she was used to getting little sleep, back when she was still in the Protectorate...back in the bushland. She smiled at that thought. Those had been hard times, but good times too, in their way. Simple and pure.

"Best get up, you sill old bush-bitch," she said, with a chuckle. "Living in town is making you soft. You're starting to like sleeping now."

Rising from the bed, Sharifa arched her back with a satisfying pop, and raised her arms and stretched out. She padded out of the bedroom, and picked up a new, clean set of clothing from her bags. Jeans, a white blouse, and a jacket her best friend had given her before she left Saphronia permanently. She had heard that friend had been arrested the next day. Probably dead now.

Her eyes welled up with tears for a moment, which she brutally fought back. Her friend was beyond help from her, now, and she had to focus her energies in to something useful. She had to find work quickly. She had been told there happened to be a few schools close by and if she couldn't find an elementary in need of faculty, she could always be a coach at any level school.

Keeping such thoughts firmly in mind, she checked to make sure she was fully ready, and headed out.

Marcus snapped up. He heard people and sirens all around outside. Flinging open his door, he ran downstairs to the main lobby. Swarmed by people rushing about, he looked up at the lobby TV. "Oh... My... God..." He uttered, surprise and fear tinging his voice. He felt dizzy, and slowly sat down on the steps, ignoring the crowd around him. Rubbing his hand across his face, he took a deep breath, calming himself despite the panic around him. Calmly standing up, he slowly walked back up to his room, and opened a small safe he had brought along. Quickly slipping the contents of the safe into his jacket, he looked out of the window, watching the chaos unfold...

Sean half listened to to the television in his room, head buried under a pillow. However, the sudden noise of the explosion made him jump and he stared at the screen.
"God." He turned the volume up. "I moved here for peace. Just my bloody luck." He looked out of the window, then recoiled from the bright light. He covered his eyes and moved back. Outside, the chaos took him by surprise. He sat back down.

Something on the TV on the wall caught his eye, the woman at the bar turned the volume up. There was a man, obviously importent judging by his clothes, was walking down steps, suddenly Janav heard a huge explosion somewere in the city and the TV screen went black.

"Holy flirking schnit."

Sharifa had just walked out the door, intent on going out and find a job, or at least checking prospects, when the huge explosion took place. Oddly, she did not 'freak out' as many people were doing. She stood and watched the chaos building, looking around herself, trying to find out what was going on.

"You!" she barked in a heavily accented version of the local lingo, grabbbing a man passing by. "What's going on here?"

His response was frantic, rushed and locally accented, but even so she could keep up well enough to figure out that something had exploded at some big local building, some government facility.

That would explain the explosion, then, and the smoke in the distance, and given where she had moved to, the building was probably the...what was it called? Volk-something.

Now, the question became what to do? Well, the whole getting a job bit most likely would be impossible for a while, so with nothing more important, Sharifa began moving towards the general direction of the rising smoke cloud.

The quiet beeping of the monitors around him brought him out of his daze of pain medication and anesthetics. Joshua opened his eyes briefly and saw his father and Councilman Sidera having a muted conversation in the corner farthest from the hospital bed.

"He will have to Commander. Your son is the last remaining parliament member. The fate of this nation rests on his soldiers because our King has no heirs! De yjadrah, mennes timen morgen!" Sidera's face took on an irritated expression as he said the last few words...'timen morgen'...the time is now.

"I understand your concerns Councilman, but to do so right now would risk tearing usunder everything we have worked for! We mu-" he looked over and saw that Joshua was awake.

"My son..."

------

In the close confines of the hospital room the chaos outside could not be heard. Police had closed off all streets around the Volkerstaag building and the Royal Guard had taken up the task of clearing out all other buildings around the area; as of now nearly 2500 people had been forced to, temporarily, leave their homes. It was a disaster at ground zero...parliament had been in session when the explosion tore through the center of the building reducing it to rubble in mere seconds. Parliament was destroyed and the King was dead...

Ranwara (RCD), Rinvia, Good evening I am Jessica Ridley reporting. Today approximately three hours ago, in what appears to be a terrorist strike, the Volkerstaag building was destroyed; four thousand deaths and several thousand injuries have been reported. Among the dead were His Majesty King Danton as well as Prime Minster Amrallatha and the majority of parliament. The area surrounding the Volkerstaag has been evacuated and several witnesses claiming to have seen suspicious persons at or around the building at the time of the explosion have been detained for questioning. Commander Heltzer has yet to give an official statement but has released this comment on the matter:
"Vie...er destrikaan des Volkerstaag...eh...und des døda ov Heer Majisti hass beidfelt...eh...jundeshelga halgard. Ik be sorgen."

Later that day...

The doors of every room in the building shattered at the very same moment as armed soliders kicked the doors down. Dem Krukunter 'The Crackdown' had begun. Commander Heltzer took control of all the police forces upon the death of the Prime Minister, a power given to him by the Rinvian constitution, and because of eyewitness testimonies declaring that many foreigners had been seen at the Volkerstaag at the time of the explosion, he was taking what he felt to be an appropriate action. The internment of all foreign born residents of the city...Dem Krukunter.

"Get the fuck up!" one of the soldiers yelled as he dragged a woman out of bed by her hair. Her husband soon followed. Several other soldiers searched the rest of the house and soon returned dragging several screaming children with them.

"Momma! Momma! Vas ist gehama?" one of the children yelled at his parents as he was dragged into the hallway and outside. He soon joined a group of several hundred other foreign born men, women and children. Germans, French, Norwegian, Polish, Japanese and many others were hauled away like cattle to several internment camps set up under the personal supervision of Commander Heltzer. This scenario played out again and again throughout the city. Dem Krukunter...

------

"Commander Heltzer, your orders are being carried out. According to the latest report 84% of all suspected and verified foreigners have been rounded up and detained. We will begin questioning as soon as all operations are complete and you give the order. We will find the terrorists sir." the soldier saluted, turned on his heel and left Commander Heltzer to himself in his office. Joshua was still in the hospital and that was weighing heavily on his mind... 'I'm sorry my son, but the worst is still ahead. And you are going to be thrust in to the epicenter sooner rather than later..." he thought.

Marcus gazed out the door, watching the police enter the building. Cocking his head, he listened carefully to the loud banging coming from the hallway. Each time getting closer and closer. Pulling out the gun in his pocket, he aimed at the door. Do I really want to do this? To take more lives, to break the law? He lowered his gun, and placed it back in his safe. He calmly sat down, and waited for the officers to come in. The door bust open, and an officer rushed in. "Get out! Don't resist!" Calmly getting up, Marcus gave the officer an icy stare. When the officer grabbed him, it all went by like a flash, Marcus acting on reflex alone, not even realizing what he had done until it was over. Marcus acted quickly when the officer grabbed him, twisting his arm back and breaking his wrist, and threw him onto the ground. "Aw fuck, didn't mean to do that!" Looking down the hallway, he saw more officers coming down the hall. "Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!!" Looking around, he decided for the window. Grabbing the curtain from the window, and jumping outside. The curtain did nothing to break his fall, but the trash in the dumpster did...

"Sehrrengutt. Deina di." Commander Heltzer waved his hand indicated he wanted the soldier to leave. 'I will have to inspect the camps soon I guess...' he thought with a slight sinking feeling developing in his chest. Sometimes he hated his job, but he would be a hypocrit if he tried to place blame elsewhere. Everything that was happening had happened according to his plans.

"I'm sorry...my son...to have to put you in such a position." he whispered to himself.

Two Days Later -

Newly appointed Chairman of the Special Security Operations Division, Sidera stood behind Joshua as he approached the podium in front of the ruins of the Volkerstaag. Joshua had a large bandages wrapped around his midback and often cringed in pain; but what could one expect? The man had been shot in the back. When he set his hands on either side of the podium and took in a deep breath the crowd erupted in shouts and the ominous flashing of camera lights. Joshua looked at the crowd and began to speak:

"My fellow countryman, my friends, I am the last member of His Majesty's Parliament. I am the final pillar that is holding this government from falling into the chasm of chaos. It is because of this that I will now exercise my rights as a member of His Majesty's Parliament and appoint a successor to an heirless kings throne! I will now exercise my right to ensure that this government doesn't falter, and doesn't fail. Therefore I have decided that the leader of this nations military should rightfully be the nations ruler, I have appointed Commander Heltzer as Grand Regent of this nation. The time of Danton and his family are gone, with his death the old order has been washed away in blood. The Heltzer family will now be left to ensure the continuity of the royalty of Rinvia. We will not falter, we will not fail! Heil Renland! Heil deina Gott! An Heil Heer Majisti Gresten Herranscher, Reichcommander Heltzer!" he stepped away from the podium, and with every ounce of his strength walked straight and upright to his car where he was escorted back to the hospital for further treatment.

Commander Heltzer walked down the steel hallways gazing into the eyes of thousands of the incarcerated.

"Disgusting." he muttered and he continued walking. The cries of small children could be heard as well of the muffled screams of women and men alike. A man ran up behind him and stopped him, he had an urgent look on his face.

"Reichcommander Heltzer," he saluted, "heir ist essin dein logg furst den Intermentkamp." he handed the file over and ran off, he apparently had much to do. Commander Heltzer glanced a few times at the numbers and the figures before slipping the file in his coat pocket.

Commander Heltzer walked into the main offices of the internment camp and spoke briefly with the Director of Camp 427.

"Good evening Commander Heltzer." it was Sidera.

"Commander Heltzer, what are we to do with these people? We can't keep them here forever. Even though you are now the de jure leader of this country, you are still bound by the constitution. These people have rights."

"I know, Sidera. Your worries are quite unfounded. I only plan on keeping them here for a short while longer-until after the elections. Then I will order them to be released; I just don't want any of these foreigners," he visibly showed disgust on his face, "voting on who will be the leaders of this great nation." he took his arm off Sidera's shoulders and stopped in front of him.

"We must find a way to get rid of them..." he said.

Marcus looked around him. How long had he been out for? A day? Two? His stomach told him a day at least. Getting out of the dumpster, he felt the back of his head. "Damn, I must have hit my head off the edge..." Leaving the curtain behind in the dumpster, where those polka-dots belonged, he brushed a few of the nastier pieces of junk off of him, and walked out onto the street. Ignoring the strange looks people were giving him, he quickly walked down the street. A TV in a open-window shop catching his eye, he watched as Joshua made his speech. A silver tongue. He thought, shaking his head. But even honey can be laced with poison. Stopping a passerby, and trying to fake the local accent as best as he could, he asked "Excuse me, I've been out of town, and the train I was on broke down. I haven''t heard the news other then the bomb. Why were all those people taken away and arrested? Surely that many people could not have been involved?"

OOC: It's not German, in fact it's not even a real language. It's a ConLag (constructed language) based very heavily on German.

"Da...di ist Kestianlander. You know you fuckers have fucked up our language! All your english influences; at least have the decency to learn how to speak Rinvian while you're in the capital!" the man stormed away in anger without even answering the question, muttering curses under his breath.

"Don't worry, that's just old man Parvik. He's a dick, so don't worry about him. He refuses to accept that Rinvian is practically a dead language used only for government administration, religion, and pricks who like to think they're smarter than the rest of us." the woman who said this brushed her red hair from her face, "I'm Maria Kaulitz, you up for a drink?" she motioned to the bar behind her, "You look like you've had a rough day. And I'd be glad to answer any other questions you have." She turned and began to walk back across the street, "I also know a bit of Rinvian if you want to learn a little so that Parvik doesn't give you any more trouble." she yelled over her shoulder. She turned around and smiled briefly at him.

Maria waited for him to catch up, "The arrest? It was the product of the already rampant xenophobia within this government, and the bombing of the Volkerstaag didn't help matters; so the police forces were ordered to arrest anyone who was not a natural born Rinvian...foreigners...that's not the worst of it though...Commander of the Armed Forces, Edwyrd Heltzer, has just been named de jure Head of State, the King. Or Grand Regent, but Minister Joshua's words are just there to confuse the simpleminded...this country is on a very bad road right now, but I still have hope that it will work itself out..." they walked into dimly lit bar and ordered a drink before taking a seat in one of the boothes at the far end of the building.

She noticed the very subtle internal cringe the man made when he took a sip of the drink.

"That is Avanblos, Avá's blood. It is very bitter so I'm not surprised you don't like it. It's an acquired taste," she chuckled a bit, "you can order something else if you like. Anyway, yes the order is still in affect, though I'm not sure how long it will be, I'm sure your friend will be fine. Now ab-" a bell tolled somewhere in the distance and Maria fell to her knees and placed her head on the her hands, "Ela gloria ist essa di. Ik geba meg selvt es di mår. Protekmich furn dein Les Eterna Rènlander." she repeated the same three phrases six times before standing up. She looked at the man with tears in her eyes and a slight hint of anger in her eyes.

"Please," she said, "show proper respect for our customs. I know this is not practiced in Kest, but it is here!" she hissed each word out in silent fury. Strange...everyone thought he was a Kestian. She kneeled down again and repeated the process, echoing the muted prayers of the others in the bar.

{OOC: Even though the majority of the country is not pagan, Avá's Prayer is still practiced widely throughout the nation. In early history Avá was a pagan goddess, but has since transcended and been cannonized as a Christian Saint who saved the country after the 'Eternal Rinvian Light', a period of the nation's history when the country literally burned. The Rinvian people where nearly destroyed because of the age of 'Les Eterna Rènlander'.}

Shite... I don't want to betray the Lord, or his servants, but I fear if I do not, I'll be found out. Gritting his teeth, he kneeled down, and started to move his lips, but not in the same way the rest of the bar was doing it. "Lord, Mars, Venus, please, all of you forgive me for kneeling to another. I wish for your forgiveness from your most humble servant who but fears for his life and future worth to you. In thy capable hands, my life to you, Lord my king and Mars my liege." Hoping he was not noticed silently moving his mouth differently then the others, he repeated this a second time, and looked around, hoping that the others would stand up soon.

OOC: Smooth CM, very smooth indeed. :)

The prayer ended soon after the second recitation and Maria settled back into her seat and continued talking as if nothing had happened. When she noticed the look of...confusion...on the man's face she promptly explained.

"I know that Kest was only recently added to the Kingdom and they don't teach 'pagan mythology' in their schools...so I will explain why we pray to Ava so you can understand better... You see, about four hundred years ago when Rinvia was still just a collection warring states that were ruled by the laws of many religions, Karas let his wrath loose on these lands. Rinvia burned for sixteen years, thus 'Les Eterna Rènlander'. Eternal Rinvian Light. Ava saved us, she put out the flames of hell and gave life to our dead land. She is our saviour." she took a long pull from her glass and set it back on the coaster, "If you're from Kest you are a citizen of this country, but I would advise to learn the local language a bit and learn the customs or you will be confused for a foreigner. Do you have any questions you'd like to ask?" she chuckled after the last line and took another sip from her drink. She starred into to his eyes, as if trying to read something from them...to look inside him. Who was he?

"Well, you should know how to greet someone in Rinvian, that is paramount. To greet someone you need merely 'Hello or Hallo' (this is informal). 'Guttentagen' (formal greeting), and to say goodbye you need merely say 'aus viedezena'. To tell someone your name just say 'Ik be...'. What is your name?" she asked.

The response time of the Rinvian Home Guard is something to behold! When the first call came in about an armed gunman they were already on their way. Several trucks pulled up and blocked off all streets in the surrounding area, about forty armed soldiers began detaining everyone on the streets for questioning while several hundred soldiers began sweeping the buildings. They burst in to the hotel lobby screaming "Unter! Unter!" 'Down! Down!'. A teenager tried to run away...his body was destroyed by gunfire. A detachment of the group headed up the stairs to the second floor. The screams of women and the shouting of the soldiers could be heard as the fifteen men cleared each room.

"Finden hier messt!" those words reverberated throughout the building. One of the doors had been blocked. The sounds of the soldiers automatic weapons soon drowned out everything as they began shooting into the room...
