( 3 days out from Neo-Ixanian Russia Colony )

Drill after drill ran the men ragged but they where tough and conditioned and the drills where going to be nothing like to actual battle that will soon beset them as they march on the soil of another nation. The Fleet was lacking much in the ways of anti-air ability as it concentrated on Landing troops and armor to the beach heads. Aircraft carriers and troop transports littered the ocean view for miles, and around them where the few anti-air boats and a mass of coastal bombardment units. The men where readied everyday for the attack....

( 2 days out )

More drills... the men have begun to complain about the constant drills, but they would be thanking the people who drove them through so many drills. Scouting planes that look like cessnas have reported back that most of the area is undefended and the element of suprise is with the Viticoma forces...

( 1 day out.)

The moment of truth was at hand as the fleet made its last drive into Neo-Ixanian Russia waters. the fleet was mobilzed to begin operations as soon as they where in range. The battleships where armed and sent out ahead to begin bombardment of the coastlines that had any kind of defenses.

Bombers where loaded and sent out from the decks of the Aircraft carriers and where to target anything of oppertunity. Soldiers where herded to landing craft and choppers. Many of the soldiers where shaking with anticipation of the battle....

OOC: One particular problem. Who says that the element of surprise is with you? Ever since the avoided war with Greston and his compatriots, Ixanian Russian defenses have been significantly strengthened.

"An Ixanian's duty is to defend his family, his nation, and all posessions which the Empress may reign over."

The young soldier had always seemed to have those words in his mind ever since he enlisted with the Viceroy's Militia in the hopes of defending his family from any enemy who would try to seize control of Ixania's largest colony but he sincerely hoped that there would be no war because he was one of those men who hoped war would only be a last resort. He was walking along a trail near one of the coastal defense forts when he noticed what looked like foreign ships approaching the fort at rapid speed. Swiftly, the young soldier grabbed his weapons and ran to the scene with the other soldiers garrisoned at the fort. The flag of the Ixanian Empire was waving above them as the soldiers all kept their eye on the ships; their hands twitching as the fingers were held close to the triggers of their guns, etc. If some nation wanted to take control of the colony then they would have to fight a stubborn foe. The young soldier uttered some words in Ixanian before checking his gun to make sure that it was in prime condition. Ixanian naval ships were massing in the vicinity of the fort; waiting for the fort's commander to give the command to defend with every bullet, shell and pint of blood at his disposal.

OOC: Now, Viticoma, commence your attack.

OOC: I want to play! Hope it cool with you.

The ragged Cuborg fishing ship only stopped twice on its journey. Once was 10 kilometers out from Cuborg, in International Waters. The captain traded, with an unknown nation's rogue military, bundles of cash for crates of illegal weaponry: land mines, flamethrowers, hundreds of thousands of rounds of armor-piercing ammunition, along with hundreds of automatic rifles and shotguns. The second stop was the only Where it stopped, the captain ordered the nets to be released. The crew was mostly ex-Navy or ex-cons. The crew's most senior member, a disgraced Navy Admiral, noticed something in the distance. Fearing the unknown, the captain used his trusty monocular to spy at the unknown vessel. Moments later, it was confirmed: Viticoma's navy was moving. The captain and the senior member glanced at a map. The ships were headed for Neo-Ixania. Eager to see action after months at sea, the crew changed course towards the fleet. The captain objected briefly.

"Are you insane? We are carrying fifty crates of guns!" the Captain shouted over the roar of the engines.

"They won't see us. It's getting dark, and we're too small for radar" a young man shouted back.

The ship moved closer.

OOC: We're just lookin'!

OOC:

Ixania, Viticoma, would you object to my intrusion here indirectly? I wouldn't likely join in the actual fighting unless it looked like the Ixanians couldn't hold by themselves. I'd just keep to diplomacy primarily.

The naval forces of Viticoma began to slow as they appraoched the colonies border waters. the Fleets commander didn't want to go in just yet he want to give the people a chance to surrender before any attack was made. The Fleet commander was not a man with no honor or civility.

A small ship inched its way into the waters of the colony holding no flag, and no weapons. Aboard was a single man wearing a uniform, he had no weapons, he had no armor.

As the small boat got close he started to row the rest of the way and landed the small boat on a small patch of beach. The man got out and expected to be rushed by soldiers. As a few soldier came to him he put up his hands and handed over a letter:

Dear people and defenders of the Colony,
By Order of the Trices of the Viticoma nation you are hereby requested to lay down your arms and surrender unconditionally and allow Viticoma forces into the lands.

Failure to accept these terms will result in an attack by the Viticoma forces and will result in death and property loss.

signed:
Fleet Commander Organton

The man who handed the soldiers the letter then put his hand behind him and knelt to the ground. He knew he wasn't being released anytime soon.

The garrison commander was a middle aged man with a curly mustache that made him look like some gentleman of old. He was dressed in a uniform that showed off his rank in the military and his facial expressions showed that he was quite unhappy with the Viticoman soldier being here but yet he would be willing to listen to his people's proposal. "Arise, Viticoman." The garrison commander said after a while of silent contemplation. "Go back to your people and tell them that Ixanian Russia will never forsake its ties to the Ixanian nation without a fight. You are free to go, sir, you will not be a prisoner here."

The garrison soldiers were confused but the commander was a goodhearted and honorable man. "Mr. Organton should know, soldier, that the soldiers of Ixanian Russia will fight to defend what is properly theirs and that we do not forsake our freedom so easily. Now go...Mr. Organton should be expecting you."

News Broadcast from Romandeos

“Hello, I’m Tamara Burkett with the RN3 Morning Broadcast. I’m standing here on what is normally, at this hour, a fairly quiet road leading in to an Imperial Army base housing a large garrison of Imperial troops. As you can see behind me, however, things here are just literally pandemonium as preparations are being made to mobilize some or all of the units here. As we look past the fences here, I can see military trucks and other vehicles moving in all directions from place to place. I’m seeing people running around and hearing voices loudly shouting, though I can’t make out what is being shouted…Wait a moment…

I have just been told, this unit being mobilized is the 73rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team if I understand what I’ve heard correctly. That’s about five thousand men and women and large quantities of equipment being moved, here, and also elsewhere.”

“Exactly where these soldiers may be going, or even why they are being mobilized, is not really clear, but speculation is that they are being mobilized in preparation for transport to Ixanian Russian territories, in support of local military forces. I’m told a Foreign Ministry message has been sent to the Ixanian government offering support.”
