Faxanavia

The sun beat down from overhead across the deck of the Faxanavian Oliver Hazard Perry-class Frigate- FFG 121 HPS Illumination. On deck, two men stood, looking up into the bright sky overhead. Lieutenant John MacGregor coughed, and turned to the man next to him. "No sight of land yet, captain. And the men are pretty damned demoralized. I don't think you've got another fortnight 'afore the lot of them mutiny." Captain Johnathan Sighet nodded. He was an old man, much too old, he thought, to be in this line of work. He was a plump man, with a scraggly beard decorating his face like some strange, foreign lichen. The younger man, Lieutenant MacGregor, was 30ish, and a had a long mane of hair swinging down across his back. The two had met that day at exactly twelve noon, as they had for the past thirty days to look for land on the horizon. But, as the days passed, hope dwindled. Supplies for what was meant to be a short trip were stretched thin. No one on board knew where the Illumination was, exactly. The GPS unit had been knocked out, and the men onboard had been navigating by the stars alone. But, the ocean they were on was so vast, it was unlikely that they would know truly where they were. Sighet thought back, for the thousandth time, to the night it all went wrong...

Rain came down not just in buckets, but in whale-tanks full. The Illumination was just 10 days out to sea, and everything had been going smoothly. And then, this. The rain and the wind had buffeted and ripped the ship to shreds, it seemed. battened down below the deck, the crew waited out the storm. And, suddenly, with a loud crack, something happened. Something big happened. Captain Sighet emerged on to the deck, and saw immediately the problem as the rudder went flying past in the gale. Suddenly, he looked up, and saw the vast tower, from where the radio and GPS signals emanated and were received, crack in two. Ducking below again, he swore rather loudly. It would not be the last time.

That had been thirty days ago. Thirty days without communications, without guidance. And now, adrift at sea, it looked to be thirty-one. But, today was to be different. Lieutenant MacGregor shaded his eyes. No. It couldn't be. But it was. "Land ho! LAND HO!" MacGregor danced joyfully. Who knew what it was, or cared who it was. It was land. The Faxanavian sailors flooded the decks, dancing joyfully. Now they had just to see who was on that land...

OOC: Well, that's up to you. You can accept the Faxanavians, and we'd work out what would happen from there, or you could assume them to be enemies, and take the RP in an interesting direction (unlikely, considering Kenavt's relations to Faxanavia...)

CPS Nitequ-the pride of the Confederacy's Navy. An absolute jewel. The flagship.

Until she was under attack. "Admiral, please report to the communications room." A messenger was sent up to Admiral Johnathan Howard's quarters.

"I'll be down in a jiffy."

He was considerably slower than that. Either way, he burst into the radar room to find it in chaos. "What's going on here?"

"We've found an unknown Frigate in our waters without permission. It does not bear signs of an ally-or of one of our own ships." The Communications Officer reported, while he tried to subdue everyone.

"Well, then, what's it doing?"

"We don't know.

"Ask it!" The Admiral stomped away. Stupid idiots!

Radio Message Sent To Unknown Ship In Confederacy Waters

"Hello, unidentified ship, this is the CPS Nitequ-the flagship of the Confederacy of Kenavt's Navy. You are currently tresspassing in Confederacy waters. Please identify yourself and state why you are here."

The radio message would have been wonderful, and solved everything, had it not been for one small problem- the Illuminationcould not receive the Kenavt radio communication, thanks to their destroyed communication's mast. So, the Faxanavian frigate drifted forward towards Kenavt. Lieutenant MacGregor pointed into the distance at the Nitequ. "Look, men! They're sending someone to meet us!" A cheer went up around the ship as the men onboard sighted the ship, unaware of why it was there.

CPS Nitequ-Kenavt Flagship, Gerald R. Ford-class Super Aircraft Carrier

"Look, sir, the ship is visible!" The Admiral heard the call from a sailor on deck as he moved to his quarters. "Well, darned, you're right!"

Once he made it to his quarters, he called in the Captain of the ship, and his Lieutenant Admiral.

"Sirs, I believe we have a crisis here. We have an unknown ship drifting in on us. If it meant us any harm, we would have been fired upon already. We sent a radio message, but no response has been given." The Captain and Lieutenant Admiral nodded.

"Hence, I recommend I go over there with around fifty of our troops with aircraft backup. If I die... the Lieutenant will take over." The Lieutenant nodded seriously.

The Admiral walked out onto the deck. "Please prepare a small boat with guns and 50 troops for departure to the mysterious ship! May a section of F-35 Lightining II take off as well! See to it!" The Captain immediately saw to it.

Half an hour later, the boat went to go see what was on that darned ship.

MacGregor stared up into the sky, as the approaching roar of jets echoed from above. He shuddered- a boat was one thing, but a fighter jet? That was another... He watched as something began to happen on the far away ship. Around him, the men of the Illumination watched on too, waiting for what was coming, whatever it was.

The boat was almost within shouting distance now. "I hope this isn't a trap," the Admiral muttered underneath his breath. He could see shapes on ship, but they were blurry. "Ready your guns just in case and pass me that speaker!" He said.

The Admiral said through the speaker: "Unidentified ship! You are in the Confederacy of Kenavt waters. Please state why you are doing so. Who is in charge?" The men waited anxiously for a sign of (hopefully) peace-or war.

The men were surprised. These men had guns! Were they friends or enemies? And Kenavt... that sounded familiar... But, these men had been out of contact with the world for the past 30 days, and had no idea of the alliance made between Kenavt and Faxanavia. So, Captain Sighet stepped forward. waving to the men, he hailed them. "We are the ship HPS Illumination of the Faxanavian navy. We have no means of communication or propulsion. Please, if you're a friend- help us!"

The Admiral muttered to himself. "Faxanavian vessel? But why the heck are they here in Kenavt? We're signing peace stuff and whatnot, aren't we?"

He said aloud to the Illumination:

"If your engines and communications are really damaged, you should allow us to board and see for ourselves whether this is true!" The speaker was almost not needed, the small boat being right next to the frigate.

The men shifted, nervously, on deck. The captain looked down onto the boats below. He called out. "If you want to come aboard, you'll have to leave the guns behind. I won't have no guns on my ship!" The men on deck stood at attention, waiting for this unknown friend or foe to board.

The captain nodded, but uneasily. The men would be let aboard, but he still didn't like it. A ladder was lowered down, and the men on deck pulled together subconsciously, awaiting the unknown.

International Waters

A small group of Mandalorian Merc. vessels emerged from the horizon, sailing northeast as they continued their campaign of terrorizing the open-ocean waters. The flotilla consisted of six Type 054 Frigates and a larger Oliver Hazard Perry Class Frigate, serving as the Command ship of the whole operation.

These pirates had been commissioned by Mandalorian Merc. in an effort to wreak havoc upon helpless merchant vessels and to reel in some much needed cash. Admiral Muhdeen, aboard the MMS Avenger, paced the command bridge, scanning the horizon.

"Sir, our satellite imagery has given us the location of two vessels, one apparently in need of assistance; they appear to be a few klicks north of our current position. Orders?"

"Relay this message to all Vessel Commanders; Proceed due north at full speed. I will inform them when to slow down and engage these fools."

"Yes sir."

And with that, the fleet proceeded north, eager to see what they were soon to plunder.

International Waters, 20 km away from HPS Illumination

Two ships plowed slowly through the waters. For all appearances, they were medium sized fishing trawlers, with nothing particularly unique or threatening about each of the ships. Judging by the worn paint and the earliest hints of rust, as well as the decades-old design, there was nothing about the ships that would attract either the attention of military personnel or pirates. Unless someone had been observant enough to notice that encrypted burst transmission had just recently come from one of the ships.

Aboard the first ship, with the name "Painted Lady" adorning it's stern, a man in a dark overcoat looking over the horizon.

A sailor ran up to him. "Sir, we just received another message from HQ. SIGINT reports another six ships inbound, rather quickly. We don't have a lock on their identity yet, but we guess them to be non-state actors."

The man in the overcoat grunted. "Pirates." His voice was raspy, and as he spoke he tightened a scarf around his neck. "Illumination is currently being assisted by another ship. We would be wise to act promptly."

"Do we have wet teams ready?"

"Yes sir. Successful rendezvous with the supplies we dropped and our personnel. It has it's orders and it's acting on quiet protocol.

100 feet below the surface

The Silverfish-class long reconnaissance submarine quietly motored towards the ships. Tightly packed on board were Operations Groups Aleph and Epsilon, forty men in total. As the sub drew closer to the Illumination, the CO aboard the submarine announced "Aleph, prepare for dive operations. Everyone else, prepare for quiet procedures." The Swimmer-Delivery Vehicles were prepared and then the primary engines were cut, with the improved pumpjet engines taking over, until they were within range of the ships.

On board, the men of the Illumination remained blissfully unawares of the two threats inbound towards their ship. They began to mingle with the Kenavtian (OOC: Is that the right demonym?) soldiers, and to their surprise they got along rather well. Captain Sighet, satisfied with this turn of events, asked to meet the Kenavtian captain on board, to discuss what had been going on in the past month since the Illumination's stranding.

Command Bridge of the MMS Avenger

The Command Room was full of chaos as reports of an unidentified small group of vessels came in. They could be two simple fishing trawlers or two super dreadnaughts. Admiral Muhdeen immediately called in Sub-Admiral Jaweer of the MMS Hopeless

“Yes sir, what is it? I am eagerly awaiting the destruction of these two foolish vessels.”

“No, Jaweer, you have other orders. Take two Type 054 Frigates and have them kill their engines. You must order the two unknown ships to alter their courses, be it through peaceful means or an engagement; just keep them away from the main fleet.”

“Very well. Allahu Ackbar!”

And with that, the Sub-Admiral of the fleet and two of the frigates headed south to interdict the ‘neutral’ ships.

An aide quickly burst into the Command Room and shouted, “Admiral, Gunnery Captain Zahir says that we are in position to engage. Your orders?”

“My only order is to make sure we give ‘em hell. Let’s go!”

The communications officer was suddenly flooded with diplomatic messages-out of the blue. Then he heard chaos outside.

"We're being attacked, why the #*#@() are we being attacked!!!" someone screamed.

The Captain stepped on board. "All men to!" he cried. "F-18s, please start launching. All missile stations, prepare for firing. AA guns, try to shoot down those missiles!" Then he headed downstairs to the communications office.

"CO, please send messages to the CPS Rimir asking them to send other messages to all the other ships. Prepare-we may have a fight on our hands. Plus, please send a message to the mainland that we may be under attack!"

Once the communications were sent out, it was realized that several missiles had fallen behind but had caught up. The CPS Niteque had no chance.

On board CPS Brafty
(second aircraft carrier in group)

The Captain looked toward the horizon, where he saw the destruction of the prime jewel of the Navy. Memories flashed by, including his first job as a sailor on the ship... promotion... promotion to Captain and here... joy at being able to see the ship every day...

The Captain wiped away a tear, then walked towards the communications officer.

"Please send a message to our Admiral via his cell phone number at 756-938-5486. The Nitequ is through.

On board the Illumination

The Admiral received the message, then eyed his troops. They were crying-it wasn't hard to see the explosion. The Admiral felt horrible-hearing it in his voice. "Men, we hope to stay with these friends a while longer. We have suffered a setback. I, have to head back..." his voice broke, but then it came back. "I have to head back to the mainland."

A boat detached from the CPS Brafty to pick up the Admiral.

Hopefully no more barrages would come.

"We should have done that before, though..." He gestured to one of his soldiers. "You have a radio, correct?" The soldier nodded. "Then, send a message to the CPS Fire to send some people to pick us up."

"Allahu Ackbar! Maldorians Zindabad!!!" Mercenaries broke into cheers as the huge supercarrier was struck by the anti-shipping missiles. It was a worthy sight and only reinforced the idea that Mandalorian Merc. could defeat a much larger power.

"Admiral, it appears that this carrier wasn't alone. A few more vessels are arriving from the north of us. We can engage them, but it would be suicidal."

"Understood, our work here is done. Inform all Vessel Admirals that we are going back to Mandalore Prime. The Board will be pleased to hear of our success..."

Not long after the order, loudspeakers went off, telling the sailors to "Turn around and head home. The infidel's flagship is sunk. Mission Accomplished!"

Lee was listening into the intercom that day as they contiuned on hunting down pirates that seemed to have fled this way. He took off the headset as he wondered out onto the flight deck. Lynion wasn't far away now but they still had a final objective to do: Find the last remaining pirate warship of the Pirate Fleet.

He walked out onto the flight deck as he watched the passing six support aerial destoryers with the additional aerial aircraft carrier following close beside them. He looked out to sea as Kennedy came onto the flightdeck with a telegram in his hands.

"Sir," started Kennedy as he handed Lee the telegram and a report. "It seems that we're passing by Mandolorianish turf,"

"Maldorian Lands," corrected Lee. "Keep us above the clouds for the time being and send down a scout aircraft to find out where that blasted pirate warship is,"

"Understood sir," replied Kennedy.

Half an hour later below the clouds.

Sonic ripped through the remaining cloud coverage as he came into view of the waters below him. He passed by the ocean as he tilt the aircraft so that the left wing was just skimming the surface of the water. The radar was picking up several naval warships hanging around as well as several heading in another direction.

"See if you can identify the naval warships heading back to what seems to be their nation," came a voice over the intercom.

"Copy that Malfo," replied Sonic.

He did a full barrel roll as he turned the Sonic Fighter Jet and started in the direction while keeping out of sight of any AA Systems that could be hanging around. He switched the camera on as he flew past the coastline before turning back to the open waters and sighting their goal.

"Halo to Malfo, spotted target," said Sonic into the intercom. "It's badly damage and limping to the nation I just pass,"

"Sink it Halo," replied the voice.

Sonic smiled to himself as he lined himself up and dropped the topedoe that made a direct hit causing it to sink. The smoky warship was already badly damage as it was and it would only take seconds before the ocean claims its victim.

Sonic made another and final pass across the coastline before turning back to open seas.

"We got some video footage of what seems to be prisoners," said a voice.

"That's a positive sir. I heard those Maldorians are nothing but merc's with little life," supported Sonic.

"Maybe we can find out, did they see you Sonic?" asked a commanding voice.

"That's a positive sir, no way you could miss me," replied Sonic as he headed for the clouds to avoid a SAM missile.
