Imperial High Court Case: The Lang Case.
Simonvia vs. Ouban, Presided by Emperor Matthieu II, Quás of the Aaronian Empire.
Presided by Aaronian Chief Justice- Tus Penny Lang on behalf of the Sovereign.

Issue: The small town of Barwick-under-Cotton lies on the border between Simonvia and Ouban. Until now, the town has been in neutral land under the 2005 Treaty of Portanos, but as this clause begins to expire, it is time to draw the boundaries and Barwick must be absorbed into either Simonvian or Oubanarian control.

Simonvia and Ouban, please state your case and let the debate commence.

Simonvian Foreign Secretary Sébastien Caddoft says:

There are many reasons why the town of Barwick-under-Cotton should become part of Simonvian jurisdiction. One such reason is that quite a large amount of residents travel to Simonvian towns such as Farringdon, Streatham and Sutton.

Barwick Rangers, the local football team are also in the Simonvian Bank League Two, and so quite a large amount of fans are Simonvian. As a result, there would be issues to overcome should the team have to transfer leagues as well as the cost of providing language assistance to the staff should the town become part of Ouban.

It is understood that should the town of Barwick-under-Cotton be taken under jurisdiction by Simonvia, the citizens of Ouban will suddenly be in a foreign country. Consequently, these people will be given fast-tracked asylum in Simonvia.

Schools in Barwick teach in both languages, and this is intended to continue if absorbed into Simonvia.

The Simonvian government will also fund the cost of putting up border controls if given the town of Barwick-under-Cotton. This will create more jobs for the local area during construction as well as the policing of the borders.
