Catholic League of Nations Survey

Sunnland
07-06-2008, 12:41
The Federal Republic of Sunnland would like to know the pulse of the World regarding the establishment of a Catholic League of Nations. This will include all nations with a Catholic government or a with predominant Catholic population. This, Sunnland hopes, will lead to a better understanding of our commonly-shared beliefs. May this League exercise its faith through social actions. I shall release the charter if there will be good feedback from the international committee. Thank you.

The Binarian Empire condems the Catholic League of Nations. Early in our history, catholics waged a horrible war of conversion on our people for our polythiesist beliefs, killing millions and destroying many cities and temples.

As our nation's second largest religion is catholicism, with many government figures also belonging to the faith, we fully support the creation of a Catholic League of Nations.

Certain ambiguities have entered into discourse regarding the meaning and use of the word "Catholic" and I would like some clarification on its usage here.

Does the proposed Catholic League of Nations intend to restrict membership to only those of Roman Catholic rule, requiring adherence to Papal command, or does it intend to include the Eastern Orthodox and Anglican churches which, although looked upon as separatists by the Roman Catholic Church, still adhere to the tenets of orthodoxy, the sacraments and the Apostolic Succession?

The Holy Empire of Rathanan is in full agreement with Nicea Sancta, your use of the term "Catholic" is very ambiguous.

Due to the nature of the Holy Empire or Rathanan, it separated from the Roman Catholic Church for failure to properly condemn Julian the Apostate for his pagan views as well as their failure to recognize that our blessed founder, Saint Alexander, was the rightful heir to the Roman Imperial Throne in the first place. So, therefore, if your use of the term "Catholic" means Roman Catholic, then we cannot and shall not support this movement.

The term "Catholic" however, means "Universal" which primarily points to the Invisible Church (as pointed out in the Athanasian Creed). The Invisible Church refers to the unity of all believers in Christ (who is homoousious (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homoousia) with the Father and the Spirit). While unity in the Visible Church has yet to be achieved, the invisible unity is present so long as churches confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

Through context clues, we believe you primarily mean the former option rather than the latter, but we ask for clarification in case we are mistaken.

In Christ,

Minister of Diplomacy Q. Octavius Lepidus and the College of Bishops of the Holy Church of Rathanan

Holy Emperor Ti. Lucius Severus
Nicea Sancta

The Libertarian Theocracy of Nicea Sancta maintains a distinction between the historical, orthodox Catholic faith and that of churches which deem themselves Protestant. However, due to certain unfortunate and untenable developments, namely, the Council of Trent, and equally unfortunate and untenable doctrines which have resulted from it, namely, the inerrancy of the Pope, the Nicean people cannot adhere to the tenets of the Roman Catholic faith.
Despite this, we maintain and aver that we have maintained integral unity with the Church as it was founded and has progressed throughout history, preserving the Apostolic Succession, the Creeds and the Sacraments.
For these reasons here described, the Libertarian Theocracy of Nicea Sancta will not support the formation of a Catholic League of Nations which ignores those churches which, albeit externally separate from the Roman Catholic faith, nevertheless maintain the historic connections to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church; namely, the Apostolic Succession, the Creeds and the Sacraments.
However, should the proposed Catholic League encompass all churches which, although not followers of the Papal See, can demonstrate adherence to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church; namely, by proving the continuance of the Apostolic Succession, the adherence to the Creeds and the celebration of the Sacraments, the Libertarian Theocracy of Nicea Sancta will wholly and fully endorse, support and participate in such an organization.

The Commonwealth of New Weber wishes to communicate it's favorable position towards the movement of the Catholic league, wishing to support it's actions to unify the members of the same faith into an organization. Shedding away our differences and driven by our common belief is the only way to overcome our problems and progress as a whole.

The Repulic of Droskianishk will join the Catholic League of Nations under one of two assumptions:

1) The League will be made up of those nations whose Catholic populations or governments recognize the Holy See's primacy on issues of faith and morals. This being distinctly seperate from most policy matters.

or

2) The Leagues purpose is to open dialogue and peaceful reconciliation of the dissenters to the Church.
