After watching shows like Pilot Guides and Globe Trekkers, I have decided to make a NationStates version of such shows which will allow people to see on their televisions the sights of the nations of the NS world but here is how I have it planned. Jane Mauntell is one of Anglia's most famous television personalities; often traveling throughout the nation to bring to the viewers of her show the sights and sounds of cities and towns all over Anglia. Now, she has decided to start a new show which will have viewers see her traveling to nations all over the world where she will visit landmarks, talk to the citizens, and just have a good time. What I would like is for people who are interested in having Ms. Mauntell visit their nations to sign up here on this thread. She will visit nations in order of how they have posted on this thread and will abide by any traditions, etc. For example, if she visits an Islamic nation, then she will wear Islamic women's clothes out of respect for the nation's way of life. Jane Mauntell hopes to get some good recording done so make sure to tell her in the RP what she can and cannot record for television. I hope this will become a good RP and I look forward to doing it. Also, if you could, please post some landmarks, etc that Miss Mauntell may visit so I can remember where to send her. Thanks. Also, I may change this into an Ixanian program or may not; it depends.

I love Globe Trekker! This is an interesting idea. Of the top of my head you could visit the capital city Euphova, with the Royal Palace and beautiful old architecture, Avedon, the sprawling financial capital and port, the mountainous western areas replete with hot springs. I don't have much time right now, but I'll put more stuff up later on today.

OOC: That would be great! I enjoy watching shows like Globe Trekker; they always let me see what life is like in the other nations of the world. Thank you for your interest and I'll consider this a sign that you wish to sign up.

Ruccola

OOC: Yes! A travel show! I can't get enough of Pilot Guides - I even downloaded the theme song several years back. :p Here are the attractions I could think of:

Arugula, National Capital Region
Republic Avenue - lined with landmarks such as the Parliament, National Museum, Supreme Court, National Art Gallery, National Theatre and the Independence Monument
Old City - medieval town complete with walls and the magnificent St. Ruccolo Cathedral
Crisantemo - the vibrant cultural and entertainment heart of the city
Montecirino - financial district, site of the Borsa Ruccoliana (Ruccolian stock exchange) and the centre of the Republic's commerce; the country's tallest building, the Banca Sinitalia Tower, is also situated here, and has an observation area nearly 500 m above the ground

San Giacomo, Valle di Menta
Historic town and castle nestled on the shore of Lake Mezzaluna, Ruccola's largest lake, which is surrounded on three sides by the Ruccolian Alps
Centre of the tea industry; tea is grown further down the Verdura river valley due to the town's altitude of 1,602 m
Within sight of Monte Verdure, the country's highest mountain at 5,492 m

Inesa, Verdurania
The heart of Ruccola's historically famous ceramics industry

Timsuano, Lucaia
Historic city with Roman ruins; site of the first Roman settlement in Ruccola (Timsuinium)
Renown for its fresh fish and seafood

Sanchevino, Lucaia
Site of the Treaty of Sanchevino in 1431, which ended four centuries of war between the four kingdoms that occupied present-day Ruccola: Rucaia, Casalveri, Corunia and Lamare, and led to the creation of the Kingdom of Ruccola five years later
Local specialty - Litusino wine made from plums shipped from northern Ruccola and lychees from the south

Scalogno, Zea
Famous for its white beaches, azure waters and Mediterranean climate

Transportation is incredibly convenient in Ruccola, with frequent domestic flights between many airports, as well as an extensive high-speed rail system and expressways spanning the country. The dominant airlines are Air Ruccola (the flag carrier) and Ruccolian Airlines, while the railway network is operated by partially state-owned Ruccolian Railways.

What should I do to assist Ms. Mauntell?
Skibereen
06-06-2008, 05:13
Nation: Armed Republic of the Three Isles of Skibereen(ARTIS)
Informal: Skibereen

Capital: New Dublin
New Dublin is situated on bay, it is the second largest in Skibereen.
It is home to New Dublin University(An internationally venerated learning institution of the highest caliber). New Dublin attractions include several centuries old Distilleries of fine Irysh-Fingall Whiskey. The festivals which occur daily throughout Skibereen are in nearly no greater form then in New Dublin.

No single population in the culturally diverse nation takes as serious the national motto of "Strong and Hospitable" as the citizenry of New Dublin.

Manethura Village
Battle Site:
In the South of Skibereen is the site of the Battle of Manethura-
The once small villiage in the south was the site of a battle against the nation of Erinin. It was at this site where Skibereenian dispersed forces made a stand which would prove the turning point in the war--the orginal villiage was destroyed in the battle and nearly all of its residents(almost entirely women and children) were killed.

Today all that remains of the original village is the Grand Cemetary.
Here Skibereenians make pilgrimage to pay tribute to those whose sacrifice united the nation against common foe. The few survivors still retell the events of those two days, and how approximately one-hundred eighty children ages varying from seven to fourteen(as well as 12 women) waged a valiant defense of their homes. The new village of Manethura is nearly ten times the population of the original. It is here where the ARTIS government mvoed the border of the nation--In tribute to those fallen the official record shows "These fierce few will stand ever vigilant on defense of our borders, and our lives. Yea none shall pass this place for those who eternally stand guard."

O'Murchadha City
The Largest City in Skibeeen boasts a tremendous population of hard working hard playing individuals who almost daily hold parades and festivals celebrating the diverse religions, traditions, and heritage of the residents.

Raven Island Military reservation(Outside Utgard City)
RIMR is home to the Badb Catha International Military Academy, the largest most sophisticated Academy for the study of Warfare in the world.
Representatives from across the globe teach at this invitation only school for Officers and Enlisted of all Branches of the Armed Forces.

Jane expect to find that she has a high degree of access to most things, and that the general sense of the nation is that the Government fears the power of the people more then the people fear the power of the government.

Tourists are often referred to as "Know-Nots" ins Skibereen because of their typical lack of understanding of the traditional Blood Laws(these are not real laws, but rather centuries old traditions--which the government is having some trouble phasing out) ---Blood Laws are a highly complex system of Honor Codes. The name comes from the fact that most violations end in the shedding of blood--in one fashion or another. Tourists however are usually held exempt from the Blood Laws, as ignorance is considered an excuse. However all tourist are familiarized with the phrase "Now you know" it should be understood that this statement should be taken as a threat that the next actions taken should be chosen carefully.

While many cultures are represented in Skibereen, Blood Laws hold over all of them--Christian, Muslims, Jews, Atheists, and all ethnic backgrounds.

Racism, is almost unheard of in Skibereen, which is often surprising to foreign visitors given the great mix of ethnic backgrounds in the nation.

Fist fighting is common, and often blows will be exchanged in greetings--though again tourists are not usually subject to this custom. Women in Skibereen are treated with a great degree of equality in all fashions, including the Law. There is no special treatment regarding a man striking a woman--this should be noted. It should also be noted there is no cultural stigma attached to it either.

Clothing is as diverse as the national demographic--(picture everything from Northern Europe to Sub Saharan Africa to the Indian Sub Continent)

Public Transpostation(trains, buses, taxi) is most Common there is ONE major highway in the nation--and compression ignition vehicles are the only vehicles which may be operated by Civilians(Privte or Commercial).

Kurona
06-06-2008, 07:24
oh do come to Kurona and see:

The Onsen Hotspring, and have a relaxing hot bath while you are at it

The Royal Palace, right in the heart of Sonomi, it's survived decades of the forces of nature and people

Chosen Hopless Nothingness: The Tallest mountain in the world

Shinto Shrines: The biggest set of shrines just to the north of Sonomi

Kuronana museum of History: The chronicles of the nation lie within here

Port Yasuragi: Renamed to mean Peace the city took a terrible nuclear blast, it's rebuilt fully and is a thriving fishing city. it's also one of the priestine beaches.

Take a visit of some local farms and schools and get in on the culture

HMS Raven Classic: it's the oldest ship in the Navy and is still used in maritime service. Come aboard and have a look at this historic sailing ship from Kurona's olden days

Xanadou Toropikaru Paradaisu: A small tourist island that was once a prison island. Now it's a great getaway resorte for spas and some fun in the sun. Just a few miles from Kurona.

Sonomi Concert Hall: See a play or a sympony

Very few of what I have listed is off limits for recording, unless requested by a citizen. Some citizens may ask you to blur their faces. You may also be able to record a session of the Royal Cabinate (cic. legislative body) in progress. Court trials in progress are to NOT be recoreded. Judges may be sought for interviews. The Prince and Princess and their children are welcoming for recording.
AHSCA
06-06-2008, 07:47
AHSCA is a place for you to come as well. Points of great intrest:

AHSCA citizens themselves. See how they live and interact with each other.
How living in small huts is a norm for them while strange to others.

Each island is a unique one:

Aurora:

The United Congress: Formed in the middle of the war for unification and independence it's a place of business and daily polotics of the Federal Republic.

Her Highness Shino Villa

Some Miltia men and women may be willing to talk to you

The Springs: Hot and cold water runs lush through the jungles. It's a place for bathing and socializing

Aurora Memorial: For those men and women who gave their lives for the country in times of war and natural disaster

Hoshino

Hoshino is known for it's treetop villages. Many dwell in the trees

The Viceroy and Vicerine are willing to be interviewed

Stilleståndö (aka Truce Island)

The War Memorial: A tribute to the men who laid down their lives fighting for peace

The first democratically elected leader in the Island's history, Anja Kama, is willing to be interviewed

Corona:

Another island hit terribly hard by the war but it has long recovered. While considered to be among the poorer islands (and pooror in comparsion to other national GDP's) the people there are extremly friendly. You'll also find it has the highest youth rate as well as the female to male ratio.

Island Chief Ayla Turell is willing to comment for your program

The Kino Memorial: Dedicated to the former Chief Kino Turell who gave his life for his wife and the people of the island.

Preimire Haruhi Suzumiya has agreed to be interviewed.

You will have one female guard with you at all times.
We ask you refrain from showing any of the training sessions of milita men and women.

OOC: AHSCA and all the other interested nations will be added to the list of nations Jane will visit. Here is some information that you should know about and which I hope will be helpful.

1. Jane will only record what she is allowed to record, take photos of only what she is allowed to take photos of and see only what she is allowed to see. She may, however, tell a brief summary of any "forbidden places" so her viewers know why she can't do anything there.
2. If there are any rules such as bodyguards, etc then Jane will abide by them. The only point of the show is to educate the average Anglian and tell them that the world is a place of many cultures, etc. She will abide by the rules that any nation has so she does not offend them.
3. Jane would like it if she can get her camera crew and assistant to come along with her during her travels as she needs them all to produce episodes for her show, Around the World. She will keep them all in line and make sure that they all abide by the rules as she will.
4. Jane will wear any clothing culturally mandated for women out of respect for the culture and traditions of places that she visits. She may also want to purchase items, etc.

We must inform Jane will have to come in by boat. There is no set of custom clothing though she may dress as natives do. We encourage her to dress light to keep herself comfortable, as it get's very hot. A simple bathing suite will do.

For more info you may visit the AHSCA Wiki: http://ahscawiki.scribblewiki.com/Main_Page
Lamoni
07-06-2008, 04:54
Jane can film in Lamoni. I'll post some places that she can visit later.
Mephras
07-06-2008, 05:26
Mephras is a fairly liberal society, with a high amount of personal freedom. We are also known for having a majority multiracial society and a fondness for gambling. Jane can wear pretty much anything she wishes, as the culture values informality although with an interest in street fashions. Comfortable clothing can be worn anywhere.

At the Royal Palace, Jane should try to look a bit more presentable, and she might have to be followed by a guard if she wishes to visit some of the less open parts of the palace. It is a vast complex in the center of the city with a large art collection open to public viewing. An audience with the Empress would most likely be impossible, but an interview with a minor courtier could be possible if you were interested. The capital also has a renowned opera house and art scene, which she could look into.

The Western Mountain region is probably the most outdoorsy part of the nation, with forests and hot springs. There are ski and spa resorts she could visit as well. She could also visit with some of the tribal groups which still inhabit this area and interview them.

Horse Racing is big in the city of Newsom, so she could go to the race track if she wished. The Northern city of Beausoleil is similar to a larger Rio de Janeiro. Basically it's a pretty huge country, so there are many things you could do. You can check out my factbook for more ideas.

Lamoni
14-06-2008, 06:24
Jane can visit/film in the following locations in Lamoni:

1. Palace of Congress - Modeled on Château de Chenonceau ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Chenonceau ) , the Palace of Congress houses both the Lamonian Senate, and the Lamonian Chamber of Deputies. Public tours are conducted, but are subject to security restrictions; and are suspended entirely in time of war.

2. Presidential Palace - Modeled on Château d'Amboise ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_d%27Amboise ) , the Presidential Palace contains the offices of the Lamonian President, as well as his living quarters, and other various Lamonian governmental functions. Lamonian Cabinet Ministers also have offices here. Like the Palace of Congress, the Presidential Palace contains numerous works of Lamonian and donated Foreign works of art. Also, the same security restrictions that apply to the Palace of Congress also apply to the Presidential Palace.

3. National Cathedral - The National Cathedral ( http://blog.lib.umn.edurich0661/architecture/National-Cathedral.jpg ) is a massive Gothic inspired structure that houses events of national importance, such as the weddings of important government officials (President Stinson was recently married to a Neo-Ixanian woman here) , and the funeral ceremonies of important governmental officials. The interior of the National Cathedral can be adjusted to any legally recognized religion; the better to avoid religious arguments.

4. Kazatlan Greene - This facility ( http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/germany/berlin/berlin_olympiastadion1.jpg ) is a training ground for the Lamonian AOCAF team before they head off to whatever AO nation hosts the AOCAF. Kazatlan Greene also hosts the Kazatlan Dragons professional soccer club.

5. Lamonian War Museum - The Lamonian War Museum houses examples of Lamonian military history; displays, movies, simulations, and both Lamonian and captured enemy military weapons. A burned out Starblaydi T-7 Gilgamesh MBT (of Crookfur manufacture), and a Lamonian LY4A1 Wolfhound MBT (of Lyran Manufacture) are among the examples of military hardware at the War Museum.

---

Lamonian Citizens are generally helpful, and could well help suggest other locales to visit when asked. Lamonian Police will likely be near where Jane would be filming, but will not interfere unless laws are broken, or when asked by Jane or her crew. As a standard matter of course, military or intelligence secrets are prohibited from being filmed; but as Lamoni is a democracy, there should not be any problems.
