Prime Minister William Slavenar of Eslagnia was standing at his seat in Parliament.

He was the leader of the Eslagnian Peoples Party which was brought to power in the 2005 elections.

"Eslagnia is a nation with lots of liberty and freedom it makes no sense at all to block an entire section of society from getting married which is why we should allow Homosexual couples to become real partners and allow them to marry!" argued William

Arthur Linsor leader of the Conservative party stood up

"I am all for an expansion of liberty and human rights in Eslagnia but I dont see why we have to make this legal? what difference will it make. We allow them to be together besides most of them just go up to Holland to get married anyway...."

Mary Kolnshor leader of the Environmental party stood up and interupted Arthur

"No! No! these people have a right to be married! they have a right to be married surrounded by friends and family and a right to be married in thier mother country! they should not be chased off abroad to get married"

"The Leader of the Environmental party is right! Allowing sax sex marriage will also allow them the benefits of normal married couples which they are denied!" yelled a member of the Peoples Party

Arthur just shrugged and sat down

Prime Minister William stood up

Parliament will vote to legalize same sex marriage.
Eslagnia has a world bench mark for freedom and human rights. we are a paradise for many people but why not make it a paradise for all people. parliament will vote on the law now.

Two small buttons were on every desk that a member of parliament sat behind.
one buttom was green that said yes the other button was red that said no
ther was a large digital screen at the front of parliament.

Within a couple of minutes it read

65% Je
35% Nor

The Law had passed with 65% of the Parliaments vote

156 members of parliament vote to legalize the law including 20 members of the conservative party

It was expected of the ultra right wing Eslagnian radical change party to vote against legalizing it and of the moderatly right wing conservative Eslagnian First party too. But it doesnt matter as long as the Environmental party and the Peoples Party held more then 50% of the seats in parliament the law was bound to be passed.

The debate and vote was shown live on TV and announced on Radio which led to a spontanous gay rights parade down Linthar Avenue to celebrate

When Prime Minister William Slavenar came out of Parliament camera's and media were snapping up photo's and firing questions at him from all direcitons

"This is another step in Eslagnian evolution that has seen us as a world benchmark for liberty and civil rights" he said to the Media before stepping into a black BMW ready to drive him away

ViZion is glad to see that you, too, have allowed this. We have long been a supporter for same-sex marriage, having allowed this by a wide margin for nearly a centry now. A hotly contested subject, when this comes to the table, millions march against said allowance, stating it is a sin, immoral, and unnatural, and as such should not be allowed. However, being a nation that allows religious freedom, as well as allowing people to be athiest, and a nation that feels we have no reason to get involved in peoples personal lives behind closed doors, we have no reason to ban such a marriage.

And it is widely agreed by the majority of the population, as several billions have agreed in polls and votes. As such, we congratulate you in allowing same-sex marriage, and we hope that others are willing to take the same steps as you have to allow this to happen. Because the bed is one of the places that no government should get involved in.

OOC:

Keep in mind, these are independent replies. For now, the IFSR government's leadership has no formal response in the works.

IC:

I am sickened and disturbed to see the blight that is homosexuality spreading like this. Nevertheless, it is the choice of the peoples of Eslagnia and thus my nation has no say in the issue. I am simply glad Romandeos does not allow its homosexuals to marry, not for lack of trying by the lobby groups.

~ Senator Stephanie Dukes (CP), IFSR National Parliament

I would like to say I am pleased to see yet one more nation which recognizes its homosexuals are all citizens too, and deserve all the rights everybody else has, including the right to marry. I only wish my own people were enlightened in the same way.

~ Senator Rhonda Dawkins (PCP), IFSR National Parliament
