Sylv Amrak lounged back in his chair, drinking a small cup of beer harvested from the fine hops grown on Rakhi.

Count Sylv Amrak, he reminded himself. Drinking beer made from my hops, on my county of Rakhi, in the Empire of Deata. I'm one of the nobility now. A smile came to his lips as he inspected the crop reports so far. So far, so good.

Yet he could still not fully enjoy it. He needed a life partner, and he needed heirs to carry on his newly established house, the House of Amrak. Amrak had not been his birth last name, in fact- that was Morrison. He had chosen Amrak since it was karma spelled backwards, and karma's products were what he saw himself as dishing out to allies and enemies in war.

But how to find a wife? He was hardly in a position to date among the established nobility, who would see him as merely trying to secure his position on his moon and his tiny 5000-soul colony. And while he had nothing against the peasantry, being among them up until two months ago, they tended to have compunctions among "sleeping with the boss."

Then he thought of it. Foreign girls! Social class wouldn't be a problem then, and if he put out an application and provided transport, he could have them come to him so hey could examine each other. He'd send out an application that day to all MT, PMT, and FT nations.

He then made sure none of warriors were looking and pulled out his poetry. The pen was not always mightier than the electrified sword, but it could do wonders for the soul.

Kryxtal was coming into the airspace of where Count Sylv was meant to be living. She was being escorted by Vamperial Guardian, Tzu who was flying the Two-Seater Dingo Fighter Jet.

As they started the landing procedures, Tzu radio into the control tower.

"This is Lynion Tzu and I'm with Kryxtal who have come to met Count Sylv and we are rquesting permission to land.

"permission granted,' came the voice. "head on to the manor. you can't miss it- it's the only large structure here that doesn't look blatantly like a military outpost. The crops are coming along nicely, but structure-wise we're just coming in, so you'll be able to tell."

As they landed, Kryxtal was looking around as the jet came to a halt. They opened the cockpit shields as they climbed out of it and onto the ground.

"Here's a radio ear peice and use to call me if something happens," explained Tzu as he handed her a small ear piece.

A servant stood there waiting by the main door, which was metal covered by enameled wood with carvings. the manor itself was relatively small an made mostly of wood, but t had plenty of natural lighting and three stories, not counting the basement.

After a short while, Sylv walked into the room. he was wearing the current fashion among the nobility of the region, which involved something resembling a white and brown polo shirt and tan and black dress pants- and a (mostly) ceremonial sword, with a handgun concealed in his pocket. he sat down.

"Well it was a little hard to get to the flight, but other than that, it was perfect. As for my family well I'm the middle child, two brothers and a baby sister."

We know a medicines and vaccines were invented on Earth for that one, but we had never encountered it, so we had never bothered to stockpile those drugs. Until now. The Great Collapse made us all cautious."

Every sector is diffrent, some are monarchs, others are democratic, some are open free territory, fiefdoms so many diffrent kinds. I was born in Sector A so I'm under a feudal lord my self."

If I used my rights as a noble to ennoble some of those under me and give them land here, the imperials and higher nobles would get pissed off eventually, because it would be confusing if we had all the same rank on different levels here.
