"I heard that," called Matos quietly. "Sau has a little magical talent, and sound surveillance and magnification is one of them, which is a wonderful thing when it comes to camp security." She had walked up when she heard what was said. "now, Kate, if you want us to let you in here, you really ought to be honest. What's this third part of your DNA? And can your friend read our little note? Her teeth aren't so long and sharp that they obscure her eyes." Normally Matos wouldn't be this sarcastic, but she had had a bad day, and besides, she had human, unicorn, magical, and structural protection now.
OOC: No not yet (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=555035)...though you could just say its A Morridane city in flames, perhaps a memory deep within the soldier's mind?

Viridiana's eyes narrowed, "I trust that you aren't speaking to me in such an insolent tone. I care not how rough your day, night, love life or birthday is, you should show respect and decency when addressing your guests. There is no excese for lack of manners." standing up, she looked at Kate, "Come, we need not their hospitality. We shall go to my castle, for I need to restock my weapon supply."
Kate looked disdainfully at the secret door, then handed the letter to Viridiana, who accepted it hesitantly. Looking it over, she slowly opened it. As her eyes roamed through the note, she finally crumpled it and threw it to the ground, "I see asomeone like Kate isn't any good to you unless their your King's lapdog. Well I for one am not interested."
"Neither am I," said Kate, "What was your motive for the note? Wanted to make me your pet?" Viridiana's cape was preped to change, she was awaiting a resonse.

"no, that was so you didn't have nowhere to go and wasn't exploited by some random stranger," said Matos softly. "I wasn't going to make anything off of it, you know. Only you were. and that wasn't the letter i was talking about. I was thinking about the one nailed to the door."

OOC: That sounds alright. His home town would make the most sense, right?
Alucard severed the link to the soldier's mind but not before leaving the echoing words, "Shoot me. I dare you..." lurking in the recesses of his mind.
Meanwhile...
As Kate, Viridiana, and Matos talked in the open a crow silently watched them. It's red eyes not bright enough to be easily spotted at its distance. Alucard had eyes everywhere...

Viridiana glanced at the note nailed to the door, "I see," as her hands closed into fists, "If that is the way it is to be, then goodbye. Kate, dear, are you coming with me or staying with them?" It was a loaded question no doubt. Viridiana wanted her to come to the castle.
Kate looked at the door, "You know what? I'm sorry," said Kate, and Viridiana looked distraught, " But I'm not staying, Matos. If you can't trust her, then you can't trust me." a smile sofened Viridiana's sad features and she embraced Kate. "Besides, you need to invite me in too." Kate added, "And if she's not invited, then you must not be inviting me in either. Is that correct?"
Without warning, Viridiana pulled away from Kate, tugged out her shotgun, set the barrel on her right shoulder upside-down and fired directly at the crow. The crow exploded into feathers and blood, Viridiana's face still through the whole series of events. Turning the barrel right-side up, she pumped the shotgun with her shoulder and tucked it away beneath her cape, "I would assume that it's no longer safe here." said the vampiress.
~
OOC: I'll assume that since the crow is not technically a direct character, like the Death Knight, that it's ok to rp the shooting of the crow. If not, I'll fix it.

OOC: It's fine.
As the crow exploded the shot scared hundreds of them out of hiding and sent them flying into the air from the branches. This time, they would not be able to escape..

"Ok," said viridiana looking at the crow-filled sky, "I guess it's a good thing I brought this," pulling out a can of mustard gas, she started thinking about why she brought it in the first place, but was drawing blanks...oh well. "Everyone hear me in there?" she said to the keyhole, "This stuff is baaaad. With a capital 'B' to boot. Do NOT breathe it, or come into any contact with it at all."
She heaved the can into the air and it soared up into the crowd of crows. Kate aimed her M-1917 on the can and fired. The can exploded into a yellow-brown cloud of toxic gas, immediately taking effect. The yellow-brown gas spread through the air, expanding as wind currents breathed life into it, coating the crows as they stupidly flew right into it, burning their flesh and eyes. And as the crows took a breath, the toxic substance destroyed their lungs.
"God, I love crowd control," said Viridiana with a smirk. Kate looked at the cloud bewildered and inquired, "Exactly how long will that stay up there?" Viridiana thought for a moment, "I don't really know. It was meant for ground based combat, I never really thought of applying it to air combat."
And to crescendo the moment, the sunlight peaked over the distant mountains, highlighting the torn, empty mustard gas can, trailing a thin line of yellow as it fell from the sky, shortly followed by dead crows. Viridiana pulled out a parasole and opened it up, Kate quickly darting under, "What all do you have in that cape?" asked the werewolf. Viridiana only smiled.

Matos received a nod from Mathae. she opened the door and ripped out the note.
"if you want, we have room,' she said. "We need to get some planning done."
Captain Black Kat
18-06-2008, 21:06
"Thank you very much," said Viridiana, giving her parasole a curt shake, "Disgusting," she muttered to herself, carefully walking over the crows, Kate doing much the same. As Kate took the the first steps into the secret entrance, Viridiana stopped at the edge.
Kate looked back at her vampire lover as she eyed the entrance with unease, "You are in fact, inviting me into your....abode? With full knowledge that I am in fact a vampire?" Kate could understand where she was coming from.
The invitation needed to be generalized, otherwise the act of taking down the sign can, and by all powers of natural vampiric law reguarding invitations, be taken as an invitation to all vampires. And by all means, unless it is generalized, vampires can enter just by that simple mistake. it's a loop-hole that is viable, or rather it's legal.
Viridiana looked at Mathae and Matos, "I need to hear it from you, that you are only inviting Kate and myself into your hospitality." Kate looked at them also, "She's telling the truth. You need to be specific, otherwise that," Kate pointed at the note they had taken down, "will be an invitation to every vampire out there."
Mirktree
18-06-2008, 21:58
"only you two are invited in,' clarified Matos. "this is a clarification of my earlier comment, and not an alteration of the content in any way, shape, or form." She knew that once an invitation was extended it could not be retracted, and she didn't want that loophole exploited. "Now get in here, that parasol looks flimsy and i doubt 'burned vampire' would make a good scented candle.
Captain Black Kat
18-06-2008, 22:07
Smiling as she entered, Viridiana said, "Don't worry, I don't burn that easily. I rather like watching the sunrise. However most of my travel has been at night so i am tired." Kate looked at Matos, "You mentioned planning. What did you have in mind?" As Viridiana's foot hit the floor, she gently brushed herself off and set her parasole against the wall. "I am also interested in hearing your plan. For I may have a few suggestions of my own."

Mathae closed the door, and as Matos began the enchantments again he started talking.
"Look, we're only here to kill Alucard. that's what we're getting paid for. Now, we would greatly appreciate your help on this. it seems to be related to hat you're after, and even if it isn't, I'm willing to offer you a cut of the loot and the pay. what are you after, anyway?" He saw the other males in the band looking aghast at him. "out of my share, not yours, guys." they relaxed.

"What makes you think I want materials?" inquired Viridiana. "I am, for all real intents and purposes, the daughter of very wealth parents, though i will admit, that I find it enjoyable to do the dirty work." pulling out her shotgun, she held it up to the light, "I've also had a bit of a taste for making weapons and things. Like this," refferring to the shotgun.
"And this," added Kate, holding up her M29, the crack in it was more noticable in the light. At once, Viridiana was upon Kate, cradling the gun in her hands, examining the damage. "What did this?" she asked, her voice dripping with venomous anger.
"An arrow," said Kate looking directly at Mathae. Viridiana turned her head, her eyes were glowing with fury, "That is impossible. There is no arrow that could do this." light glinting off of the gun-metal. But she caught Kate's eye, and looked over to Mathae. "Would you care to explain this?"

Captain Black Kat

"An altercation and misunderstanding you say? And this...misunderstanding required that you damage this gun?" asked Viridiana, slowly stepping closer to Mathae.
As Viridiana approached Mathae a sudden sound came to her ears. Upon focusing on the sound it sounded like a...violin? A figure, shrouded in the mist the seemed to surround the windmill, silently stood motionless as it played a soft and solemn tune on the instrument.
The figure's details were hard to see but there was definitely a cape on the figure.

Viridiana's footsteps slowed to a halt, "I hear violin music." said she, eyes unwavering from Mathae, waiting for an answer. Kate thought back to the last time she heard violin music, "Well, it would seem that the vampiress is back," also looking at Mathae, "and with one of my guns wrecked, effectiveness in battle is decidedly lower. Thanks."
Pulling out her M-1917, Kate moved to the door keeping low to the floor. Vampires couldn't enter, but bullets could, even spells can stop a bullet...arrows maybe.
Viridiana looked at Mathae, "I made that gun for my dearest, putting my own blood, sweat and love into it's crafting. Whatever right you think you had to wreck it, is inconsuquential. You will pay for it, and money is not an option. It will either be paid in kind with your own weapon, or in blood." at that, she balled her right hand into a fist and struck the palm of her left hand...meaning she was going to beat the hell out of him.

"our band had the right to defend our lives," he said calmly. All the weapons in the band had already been out. "Kate had already caused some physical damage to our men, and had appeared at the same time as a werewolf, and then to add to that started commanding our men around as her own. That was not acceptable. Now, please, back off. I believe Alucard is outside, and i think we all want a crack at him. An altercation here is not necessary- and do not overestimate your chances. We are all deadly, and together... well, to start with, fire hurts vampires. so does holy symbols, and we're all relatively devout." He reached underneath his collar and drew out an ornate and ancient crucifix. So did the others. "no, the idea of Kate pointing that gun at any of us was hardly appealing- i have no doubt that she could use it in midair. We were simply ridding ourselves of a threat. Now, if she had been kind enough to surrender and drop her weapons, that wouldn't have been necessary."
Matos, meanwhile, had attached a glowing ball to the end of a walking stick, forming an improv staff.
Captain Black Kat
21-06-2008, 03:48
"I had done no damage to anyone you damn fool!" yelled Kate, "If any damage was done to any of your men, it was out of self defense. YOU attacked me first! And you never gave a chance to surrender before you hoisted me 30 feet into the air and shot the hell out of my gun from where I was! You never fucking asked me to disarm! And your spells won't work on me this time. I've made some alterations to my runes."
"And fire and holy symbols don't exactly work on me either," said Viridiana pulling out her own ornately forged cross. "This is very real, as is my tolerance to fire. I don't know where you get your information on vampires, but you need to go back to school, because this isn't a story. This isn't human beats vampire with sunlight, fire and cruifixs just to give to story a happy ending. This is real, and evolution is real too. All vampires are not created equil and so they do not evolve the same.
"As per 'the right to defend one's self' I believe that my Kate also falls into that category, so your options are very simple: You can believe that you have the upper hand and try to kill us for wanting jusice and reparation, and die mercelissly, or you can admit that you did the wrong, in which case I give you two options. One, you can give me your own weapon to exact a near equil treatment to that Kate's gun recieved, or you you can prepare for one hell of a beating.
"I don't expect you to make the decision now, as we do have a vampire, who is not Alucard by the way. And I don't care how many people you have or what spells you think you have working for you. You will not live if you decide to attack. I kid you not, nor do I have over confidence in mine and Kate's abilities. I know full well what we can both do...as I know what you all can do. So I suggest you surrender now, or it will only be Kate and myself facing the Vampire outside." Finished Viridiana, meaning every word of what she said.
"So what will it be?" asked Kate, slowly preparing for a slaughter. "She isn't joking. It's only either going to be all of you dead...or the vampire outside dead. Your choice. All We're asking is that once the fight with him is over, that what was done to my gun, be done to his bow. If he doesn't like that, then he can take a beating worth every ounce of work that went into crafting my gun." Looking around, she casually said, "I can stay here all day, he is not invited in after all, but do you really want to wait till a horde of skeletons breaking down the door?"

ooc: the gap was closed, isa, and he wouldn't have been able to hear. beside, someone would have seen him. and Black kat, it as already been established that holy symbols hurt vampires, as with fire and sunlight evolution is genetic, and vampirism is supernatural- they don't overlap. viridiana is a vampire- to have the powers, she must have the weaknesses. please don't godmod. gratias tibi (thank you).
"Kate, you don't work in a group, so you wouldn't be expected to know this from personal experience, but sometimes you have to make a snap judgment," said Mathae. "You came leaping out of the wood, causing a potentially lethal disturbance in Sau's fight, where he had already mortally wounded his opponent. Hurin managed to choose that time to come flying out, and he had to choose that time to protect Sau from potential danger or let it slide. You'll notice that he used the blunt end of the lance, not the business end, by the way. Then you reacted, and we reacted."
"You'll also remember that I gave you some minor medical treatment, some beer, and an employment opportunity," added Matos. It was your own penchant for aggression which ended it, and even then we gave you shelter when we could have let you die. I also gave you a severance package- some money which you apparently didn't notice, and an option for more work. Whatever you can say about us, you can't say we don't have a sense of repentance." She thought a bit. "And your runes don't exactly matter, Kate. They don't affect those with elven blood within the last twelve generations. They are creatures of spirit, not bound by the physical world and rocks, and neither are we. if you're wondering, it was my great-grandfather. I carry that low-level rune simply to get people to underestimate us."
"We're willing to offer an apology, verbal, for the incident," said Mathae, "but you can't expect anything further. you said life isn't a story. that means that the 2 misfits aren't fated to come out on top. You are powerful- so are we. you've heard that we let others underestimate us. I can turn invisible and move through solid objects- standard Ranger training. Sau and Galad have killed vampires before, along with monstrous trolls, giants, and even a dragon- I like the kraken incident the best, actually. And nothing can penetrate mithril without huge prior damage which you couldn't give us. It's usually damnation in this life and the death to spill unicorn blood with malicius intent, by the way- ghosts have told us this. Jellyfish would not spare you. i do not doubt that the two of you would not cause terrible damage, but be honest with yourselves: in a case of relatively equal individuals, five beats two."
"As of now, let's fight the vampire, whom I still think is Alucard," said Matos.
"if you want, i could fix your gun," said Sau humbly. "I have experience."

"Trolls? Giants? Dragons? And a Kraken you say. Well, I'll admit, it's quite a resume, however, it only the tip of the ice-berg in this world." Looking around, Viridiana added, "Your mithril is not without faults, five to two is only an interesting challenge..." and to Matos, "And what Kate knows about runes is what I have taught her, and even she doesn't fully understand them. Sweetheart, don't presume to tell me about Elven magic," she said very sweetly, "Elven magic is old, yes, and powerful....but the magic of runes is derived from the earth, from which all life comes. The runes may not effect you, but you also have it backwards. Your magic will not effect the bearer of the runes.
"This is a very powerful magic you are meesing with with, and like us, you underestimate it far too much. I have devoted most of my time to studying, understanding and setting this earthen magic. I am also a student of science and technology. I know of your generation of elves, child. Do not mistake me for a fool." It was at that she turned her attention to Sau, "Repair the gun if you wish. Once we have finished with the vampire outside, I wish to head back to my estate. It would seem that, certain events have pushed my plans ahead of schedule."
Kate looked at everyone around her, and decided it wasn't worth it, not over a gun. "Fine, you made your point and all is forgiven." and handed her M29 to Sau to repair. "As for the unicorn, keep him on a tight rope. I don't need him attacking me just because I'm not natural."

ooc: what post?
"your overconfidence does not become you well," said Matos. "What my ancestors have taught me you have no idea...and if Kate had a rune, why could I levitate her? new sciences often don't work when it comes to magic. it's the dwarves and humans whose life comes from the Earth. Elves are directly from the spirit realm, and most of them have returned there nowadays. as it is, as Kate has recommended, let's drop this pointless argument. the world is populated by large egos, but we need not stoke them." thinking about elves always made her wax slightly philosophical and poetic.
"and jellyfish wouldn't attack you for that,' added Hurin sullenly, "just for being an apparent threat to us. Don't tell me anything about unicorns, i raised him from an orphaned foal."
"we have one request beforehand," Mathae said. "If we run into Alucard, we want to keep his skull and take it back with us. it's rather important for our job. you can keep anything else we find."

OOC: I meant to say PM on you nation.
~
Viridiana rubbed her temples with slight irratation. it was apparent that the girl didn't know just how close the spirit relm it tied to the earth, not just nature, but the planet. All life came from the earth, the spirit relm was created for the first life that passed away, it's energies spindling into the fabric of that she referred to as the spirit relm. But it's as the the old saying goes, 'you can lead a horse to water...;' however, it's fair enough to say that once the elves parted this relm for the spirit relm, they decided to leave any ties to the earth behind, probibaly twisting stories to say that the spirit relm was their home.
If that was the case, then many generations of the same story...who is she going to believe? it wasn't her place to try and convince the Elvish girl otherwise. She has ancestry backing the story, what did she have? True, she wasn't old enough to see the elves leave this relm, her own great grandparents weren't even that old, however, her ancestry before them were, and at that point in time, such magic use was unheard of outside of those that practiced it. So a few generations later, and the passing down of the Elves' dissapearence, and it was simply a matter of filling in the blanks.
"All I have to say on the levitation matter, is one doesn't walk through the woods expecting to be hoisted into the air by magic, now do they? One prepares for what they expect or consider to logically be possible." "Such as being bound, unless you forgot my movement contrary to the binding spell you placed on me." Added kate, looking at Matos, "And i barely know anything about unicorns, as far as that if a unicorn is killed, nature around it suffers drastic changes, such as winter in the middle of spring."
"Also on the part of taking his skull...I would not advise it, nor would I allow it. A vampire like Alucard must be completly consecrated, every last piece. I don't know what the cosequences are to not doing so, but it's not worth the risk. As far as killing Alucard himself..." said Viridiana, "...that is partly why we must return to my estate. It is a few days time away from your destination, but i believe that we may need to restock our weapon's ammunition and pick up a few things.
Mirktree
23-06-2008, 02:03
"that's how I found jellyfish, actually," said Hurin. "When the gardens died from frost, i knew something was wrong and checked the woods. There i found jellyfish- don't ask how I got the name. Most unicorns are white, but he had turned black from grief. i heard that the man who killed his mother was found and disposed of, but I am not certain."
"we'll go to your estate,' said Matos and Mathae together. "But we'll need proof of the deed when we kill Alucard," Mathae added.
Captain Black Kat
23-06-2008, 02:16
"I am soory to hear of that," said Viridiana to Hurin, "A unicorn is a very magical creature, and it's life is boud to nature in an extreamly powerful way. When a unicorn dies a natural death, it is felt, though nature deals with the passing subtly and easily. The murder of a unicorn, is harsh to nature, not yet ready for the passing."
Viridiana turned to Mathae and Matos, "Then we go to my estate." Drawing her shotgun, she loaded some fresh shells into it, no need to pump it as a shell was already primed. "Unfortunately I can not tell you what to do. All I can say is that i can not allow you to take the skull, or anything of any significance to the Grand Count. If proof is what you need, then i am afraid you will have to do with out."
Kate unloded the spent casings from her M-1917, also reloading her gun. Calling over to Sau, she asked, "How are those repairs coming?"
Mirktree

"Do you think I started them now?" he asked incredulously. "I'll work on them at the castle, but they'll get done."
"Would I be able to lift anything?" Mathae asked. "a cane, a cape... a witness statement with a minimum 50 signatures? And couldn't I keep the skull after consecration?"
Captain Black Kat
23-06-2008, 02:37
Dissapointed at not being able to use her favorite gun, kate pulled out a rune-covered silver dagger. The M29 was the gun she primarily used against vampires, with a stopping power that would make a dragon think twice.
Viridiana however, was a slight disturbed. "Honey, I don't think you understand. I have no clue what will happen if the sckull is removed, even after consecration. Vampires like Alucard belong to a power vampire blood-line. The full extent of their capabilities are unknown to me. I know that Dracula family members hasve been killed, yes. Their bodies were also consecrated, but always, another would show up as soon as the other was said and done with. If the skull is removed from its consecration, or even separated from the body...I don't know what might happen. I have my theories, but I can't be sure. Just don't ask me to do this. Everything must be consecrated and nothing must be removed. I even extend that to the items within his castle. I have no objections to a witness statement reguarding the consecration of the body, but nothing is to be removed, not even a cane or cape."
Mirktree
23-06-2008, 14:55

And Matos has priest training."
"I dropped out," she added. "It wasn't my lifestyle. Dealing with the supernatural and divine, yes. poverty and celibacy, no."

All weapons were pointed at the door. Mathae whispered, "Kate, Viridiana, I think this guy is more of your domain. Leap on him, and we'll follow." the gap for noise to go outside was closed. Hurin mounted Jellyfish.

OOC: I think it's safe to say Captain Black Kat is probably taking a break IRL and I will try to contact the player behind Integral.

Kate and Viridiana looked at each other. "either way, we'll probibly end up getting upstaged or something," said Kate ruefully. Viridiana looked a little disheartened, "Kate, baby. I have to tell you something." Looking at the others uncomfortably, she continued, "I need to feed, soon. And it can't be your blood."
Kate looked taken aback, "What? Why?" Viridiana looked at the others so as to put some kind of explanation behind thier very uneasy looks, "You remember the genetic experients I was doing? With your blood sample?" asked the vampiress. Kate nodded her head slowly, "Yes. You were trying to find some kind of way to fix the weaknesses that the vampire blood-curse gives vampires. Like weakness to holy symbols and sunlight."
Viridiana also nodded, "That's right. I did find something, and I spliced your DNA into my own." Kate eyes widened with wonder, "Really? And it was successful?" Viridiana again nodded, "It was; however, the consequenses were nothing I had expected, but rather, theorized could happen."
Kate shook her head, science wasn't her strongest point. Viridiana looked to the others, answering some questions, maybe, before they could interrupt, "When Alucard made Kate, he mixed some of his own blood into her creation. With the mixture of vampire, human and wolf in her making, the were bonded almost perfectly, coming togther like a puzzle to fit were needed. I, however, already am, and by introducing your DNA into my own..."
"I don't understand." said Kate, tears filling her eyes. Viridiana lifted her hand to kate's face, wiping away the tears, "Honey, your genes are destroying me. I need new genetic material constantly so that my body can repair the damage that is being done to me. Drinking blood gives my body a direct line of resources: hemoglobin, iron and salt for my blood, proteins and vitamins for muscle and tissue, calcium and magnesium for bones, and of course vitamins and minerals for my over all health.
"I am working on a project, a very contravercial project, that could in fact reverse the tissue degeneration. You remember Adam, right?" Kate slowly nodded her head. At the beginning of WWI, rumors of experiments being done have circulated, eventually reaching Viridiana's ears. She had already been working on her own projects before word reached her, but this information...could actually help her with her own.
The reanimation of dead bodies was the stuff of nightmares, but experimnts done by human soldiers had made head-way, and this advancement could help her. At the time, it was merely a hobby, but it grew to become a factor of life or death. What she did to herself was killing her, drinking blood bought time she needed at least untill her project yielded resuls that could prove her salvation. Adam was her hope for salvation...
ooc: it's fine (I'm Mirktree, FYI)
"If Adam is dead," began Matos, "I think I know what you're going to do. and if what you plan to do is what i think you plan on doing, you probably want it as a last resort. Regenerated tissue needs to be done so regularly, and the frequency needs to increase as the years go by. Otherwise, it degenerates faster than ever. we had mages try it years ago. it worked, but at a price- continued stress for the mages, and then death once the Moralite court found out."
"Oh, by the way," asked Sau, "who's Adam?" he prayed the answer wasn't 'ex-boyfriend.'

This was an awkward situation for Viridiana, the wrong response could warrent a burning at the stake...not that it would be entirely a problem, considering she was facing a slow, painful death by cellular degredation. "Ok, phew, how to explain," rubbing her forehead, she thought of how to explain exactly what Adam was, "Have you heard much about grave-robbing?" she asked Sau.
Turning her attention to Matos, "Yes, you have the right idea with cellular degredation. I do need to feed more frequently as time passes. So..." looking at Matos with a semi-bright smile, "Would you like to contribute to my 'help a vampiress prolong her life' mission fund. Blood is greatly appreciated."
"that's it," said Sau. "guys, if I die, bury me with the bombs I keep in my pack- activated, of course."
Matos looked at Viridiana for a minute, then calmly reached for a knife. mathae beat her too it, opening a small wound which she then healed with a warm, grateful smile as Galad handed a small cup of blood to Viridiana.

Taking the cup greatfully, she downed it without hesitation. "Thank you very much," said Viridiana as her body began to have its general reaction. She crumpled to her knees as her stomach clenched, trying to rid itself of the blood.
Her head felt light as an intense pressure built up on her chest and she toppled backwards as her back arched, gurgling, gutteral bulching sounds eminating from her throat, the recently ingested blood, escaping her mouth. Fighting desperatly to keep the much need blood down, she began to draw herself up into the fetal position, the blood dripping from her nose as her body fighting just as hard to purge the blood from her.
Kate rushed over, cradling Viridiana's head close to her chest, stroking her hair, "Come on sweetie, please. You'll be ok, your honey-bear is here for you. I'll always be here for you. I love you, always." kissing her gently on the scalp. Viridiana's eyes were blood-shot and tear-filled, face deep red as se faught. Her throat was visibly working in reverse, pushing the blood up, dribbling it from her mouth and nose.
"that's not good," said mathae. "What's happening here?"

Kate looked at Mathae, tears streaking her eyes, "I don't know," she said, her voice barely containing her emotions, "I never even knew she did this to herself. I don't even know why she did it. I mean I knew about Adam, but that was like a hobby. She was planning on testing him out on some of the Vampire Nobles, like Balthazar. I mean," she wiped her eyes on her gauntlets, "When she first told me about the plans for something like Adam, it was meant to have practical applications, like protecting villages from vampires and stuff. Now she's talking about reanimating dead cells and tissues and stuff."
Kate held Viridiana tightly as a violent shudder disrupted her next train of thought. "We made several models of Adam, and there were even thoughts of an Eve model. You know what they say about scientists trying to play God? Well, the names of our models were kind of a joke, but oddly enough, they actually kind of stuck." Kate laughed softly, "We started out using some of the older bodies for use. After a few failed models, she decided that we needed considerably fresher materials, and no, I don't mean killing people," she added quickly, seeing the look on Sau's face.
"Look," Kate said to the others, "I don't exactly know what she has planned, but I know I don't want to lose the love of my life. Please, whatever happens, we need to get to her estate. If there is at least one functioning Adam model, then we'll have a good chance against Alucard."
Three more knocks rapped upon the door. "Come now I don't have all night to wait you you people to come out..."
"I don't see a dead body being of much help," said Matos, "but I do think it would be a good idea to get to your estate."
"Should we wait until morning?" asked Hurin. "We're safe here for the night."
"For all we know, Viridiana could die by morning," Mathae replied.

Viridiana's tremors slowly eased as she choked down the blood, her body taking in the nutrients and materials it needed to sustain itself. Pulling out a bed cloth from a nearby heap, Kate gently wiped the blood from her love's nose and mouth, then using the sheet to cover the vampiress as she drifted to sleep, coughing a few times to clear her lungs.
"It's already daylight," said Kate, stroking Viridiana's hair and softly kissing her forehead, "He's using fog to disappate the sun's rays, thereby prolonging his time in the day." Looking up, her solid white eye probibly a little unnerving, she requested a cool, damp rag, then preceaded to clarify Adam.
"The idea behind Adam, was to do something this couldn't be done with skeletons. Skeletons, especially those under Alucard and his ilk's control, defeat through numbers and are easily replaced. Adam, however, is a universal soldier of sorts. If he's damaged, he can be repaired and can sustain massive amounts of damage before needing to be repaired. His bones have been graphed with a highly durable metal and with a lack of sensative nerve ending for pain, his strength is near limitless...or at least that was the basic idea.
"There were a few more things we planned to incorperate, but with trial and error as it is, we, or rather she, decided to move a step at a time. For instance, we needed to know that we could get the body mobile before we put too much into it that we could not reverse. Have to walk before you can run, and it was a pain getting to crawl. I'm not even sure if it got that far though, as I had to leave before anything might have happened. But trust me, if at least one model is functioning, or rather depending on how far into the process it is, then it will be very significant in any fights with Alucard or his Nobles."
Kate looked around the room, barley noticing Integral, the farmer and the goblin in the shadows. "Oh boy. I'll have a fun time explaining Integral to Viridiana.
"Well, he's probably still breakable," said Matos, doubting this. "Here's your rag, by the way." She then proceeded to open up the opening long enough to hurl a compressed homing fireball out of it at the vampire, then closed it again.
"Anyone just want to kill the goblin now?" asked Mathae. "And what do we do with Nelaio and Integral?"
There was no response to tell if the fireball had hit home, missed, or even hit anything. There was silence for a good five minutes as the others resumed talking.
However, the silence was again short-lived as a loud thump hit the roof of the windmill. The glass across the room shattered and a chair flew across the room into a wall, shattering the chair. The figures dark chuckle echoed around the windmill from all directions.
"I take it he's still alive," Mathae side. Then: "Arm yourselves!"
"And armor up!" Matos added. the Mirktree band had already done all of this, but they were waiting for the others.
