VICTORIA, Blue Isle-

Ryan English, the 3rd Prime Minister of the United Socialist States of New Brittonia has died of a heart attack n the Sacred Heart Hospital, a university hospital, in his hometown Victoria on the Blue Isle. He was 87 years old. Although most remembered for being the first open homosexual Prime Minister of New Brittonia, although he was not the first open homosexual MP, beaten by Communist Lauren Gallagher’s outing in 1974. Although his sexual orientation would be what he was remembered for outside of Brittonia, inside, he would be considered to be one of Brittonia’s Prime Ministers, apart from founder of the New Brittonian state Darryl Patrick, who, after the Death of Prime Minister Patrick, kept Brittonia stable, kept the Brittonian economy going, and would be considered to be the man who made Brittonia what it is today.

The 19th of July, 1977 was the day that Darryl Patrick, the famed Communist revolutionary who, born in 1863, after the War of National Unification, literally created New Brittonia. After his death, the New Brittonian Communist Party was at a standstill. Although the Deputy Prime Minister was widely accepted by the Party, the government shifted power three times in that five-year period after Prime Minister Patrick’s death and before Patrick’s selection. Throughout the late 1970s, New Brittonia’s socialist economy was in a wreck. Jobs were being lost at rapid pace, oil prices were skyrocketing, inflation was though the roof, no Prime Minister could do anything to stop it. Disaffection with the ruling Communist Party, that in the 1982 Brittonian Parliamentary election, the Communist party kept power in Parliament by only three seats. Something had to be done. And then, from the southern part of the Blue Isle, from the conservative part of Brittonia, a man emerged. Ryan English, a little-known Minister from the city of Victoria emerged. Despite his sexual orientation, he was one of the most rightist parliamentarians in the Communist Party, Minister of Foreign Relations for Darryl Patrick and James Paterson, Minister of National Security from Robert McNamara, and New Brittonian ambassador to the United Nations for Paul Easter. Somehow, the Party chose him to be Prime Minister, who based his candidacy on his experience.

Although he did grant same-sex marriage in 1986, he was much more than a gay rights advocate. He was a rights advocate period. Ryan English increased Brittonian immigration quotas, and gave the current immigrants a “fast pass” to citizenship. With him, Brittonia became a multicultural society, and those immigrants, and their children, could vote, and they did, 90% Communist too. He was a Communist, but the socialist economy of Darryl Patrick was dismantled. Nationalized businesses were sold off and privatized. The corporate and personal income tax was lowered under Prime Minister English. His more rightist policies were questioned because he sounded like a member of the Conservative Party, which did make the Conservatives in shock, too. Although he was rightist, New Brittonia rebounded, it now was not in the horrible cycle of stagflation but by 1994, it was prospering, Bnrittonia was booming. Ryan English transformed the Communist Party of New Brittonia, it was now not the Soviet Union’s Communist Party, but it was now New Brittonia’s “big tent” Third Way party. More major reforms, such as permitting people of religious faith into the Communist Party were done by Prime Minister Flower, who, was considered to be Ryan English’s successor. That alone was why Ryan English was considered New Brittonia’s most popular Prime Minister and why all Brittonians will take some time to mourn his death for some time.

The people of the Socialist States of Burtilana are sorry to hear of the untimily death of Ryan English, altough he was 87, he had a good few years left in him.

I write personally to pay my condolences to his family and friends, and to pay my respects to this great leader.
Although I was too young to remember him in power, through peers and aides I discovered him, and what he had done, I studied Mr. English in all my spare time, learning from him, wanting to meet him and talk with this awesome socialist.
Unfortunatly I am now unable to do this, but I wish to be there at his funeral, to personally give condolenses to his family and friends, but to be in his presence and pay my respects to him.

RIP Ryan English, you shall be greatly missed by all socialists.

The funeral of former Prime Minister Ryan English is to be set. (OOC: I need to RP things a bit before things happen.) His body will lie in state at the New Brittonian parliament building for five days. His body is currently in Victoria, and will be transported, by subway line, under the Brittonian Channel, to Epsom, where it will be transported to the Parliament Building where his lying in state will begin. After those five days, Prime Minister English's state funeral will begin, inside the Parliament building, although only his ashes will be present there, as he requested a cremation. Cremation is one of the most popular ways to be "set off" in New Brittonia, where three times as many people get cremated each year than get buried.

Prime Minister Crouch has said this on hearing the news of the former Prime Minister's death,
"It is sad... this is a sad day for all of Brittonia. We know that Prime Minister English was the rock that Brittonia stood on when the Great Leader Prime Minister Patrick died. He made Brittonia what it is today, and although I did not personally know him, my mentor, David Flower, was his protégé, and I was David's, so these is a link existing between us."

All New Brittonian flags at a'' government buildings and foreign embassies have been ordered to half mast following Prime Minister Easter's death for three months.

Crowds mass to see the body of Ryan English come to the Red Isle via his special metro car

EPSOM, Red Isle, New Brittonia-

In an inconspicuous metro car, the body of former Prime Minister arrived in the Red Isle. There, it was taken, by a convoy of armored cars, police cars, and military vehicles, to the Parliament building in the dead of night. At one in the morning, the crews that were there were prepared for the task of beginning to assemble the area. The body was placed in the center of the parliament building rotunda, and around it, the fabric fencing was set up to make the viewing orderly. Seats made of expensive, upholstered, folding chairs for dignitaries and special guests were placed in the room so they can rest while paying their respects. By 6:00 AM, the building was ready to let the first few visitors to come in and pay their respects to the late Prime Minister.

Line of Brittonians waiting to see the body of the former Prime Minister

A line of thousands of Brittonians, stretching many city blocks, are all waiting to see the body of former Prime Minister Ryan English. No matter what political ideology one subscribes to, all have decided to mourn Ryan English’s death.

“I am registered Conservative… I have been since I was 16”, says James Sharkey, 43, of Victoria, Blue Isle, “,but I wanted my kids to see how the political process works out.”

His wife, Preya, says,

“I’ve been a bit liberal… my parents, when they became naturalized Brittonians, registered as Communists, so I got some of their political views. I really grew up with Ryan English. When the NBBC News in Hindi came on the Prime Minister was always there, speaking. I got to respect him, he gave me citizenship, and I just want to pay my respects, as a second-generation Indian-Brittonian, it’s my duty.”

Several field trips were taken, on short notice, to the Parliament building as well. The building, being a hot field trip destination also got an added attraction for this time.

No foreign dignitaries were there, although some said that they would appear. Parliament Building Police Chief James Corcoran said,

“The lines would be the major deterrand, however we want to say that dignitaries are given a special entrance and VIP seating as well, so that should not be a proble.”

However, many Brittonian parliamentarians such as Mohammed bin-Aziz (Com) and Chris Collier (Con) were present there as well.

OOC: You do understand that English, although a member of a Communist Party, was quite centrist, something I tried to emphasize.

President Vladimir Burte's private helicopter and defense 'copters were just entering New Brittonian airspace, He was coming to say fair well to the Prime Minister he had inadvertadly learnt so much from, they had never met, but Vladimir knew it was the best thing to do.

The to escort helicopters departed and requsted permission to land and refuel. BH-1 continued onwards and requested to land at any helipads located near to Parliament building, Vladimir was desperate to see English in the flesh before the funeral.

BH1, although a bit, unannounced, was given permission to land, were given permission to land. The nearest government-owned location with a free helipad, which was on top of the Ministry of Equalities, a block away from the parliament building. Epsom City policemen, who probably could have done any other polce related job, were summoned to flag down and guard the president. The Minister of Equalities, Minister Preya Gandhi, an Indian-Brittonian, age 36, ran up the stairs to greet the President.

The helicopter succesfully landed after following flags from the Epsom City policemen. After a couple of minutes, the small side door slowly opened, The policemen gathered round, in a sort of formation, Preya Gandhi came runnngup the stairs, redenned and out of breath he stopped and walked up to wher th police were standing.
Two BGSF (OOC: Burtilanian Government Secruity Force) guards stepped out on to the windy rooftop, shortly followed was the tall masculine structure that was President Vladimir Burte, as he stepped out slowly he looked around looking at the other buildings and rooftops, the policmen, and finally Preya, he looked down as he pulled a pair of black sunglasses from his jacket pocket an put them on. Guessing Preya was an official, he walked upto her and held out his hand,
"Good afternoon Maam, I am President Vladimir Burte of Burtilana, and you are?"

After she was at the top of this windy top of the building, Preya said,

"Thank you, I'm the New Brittonian Minister of Equalities, Preya Gandhi. Welcome to New Brittonia. Please stay here for the time being, we're going to have to finish some clearance.

Do you have your passport with you?"

"Yes that's fine, I am sorry about the rather unannouced entry, I did say in writing that I would come to the funeral, but I suddenly thought that it would be more meaningul and symbolic to see him in 'state', before hs burial.

We can wait here for as long as needed, are any refreshments available? in the rush my aides didn't get the chance to fill BH1 up with food, Thank you."

"Oh... Michael, can you stamp these.", Preya said.

Michael West, a tall African-Brittonian police officer, large, with some belly hanging, looking in his mid forties, with a stamp in his hand, stamped the passports, and handed them back.

"Yes... about your helicopter", the Minister said, "We're going to have to take it a military base where it will be housed. Keeping it here for over an hour will be a hazard, if a person has a problem, a medical emergency such as a heart attack or something, we're going to have to medevac them, and if this helicopter is there, the ambulance helicopter will not be able to land. You understand?"

"Yes we understand, one second."

Vladimir walked over to one of the guards, spoke to him briefly, and walked back again, the guard started to look on a PDA, then lift it to his ear

"He is calling a cab, give my pilot details and he can fly it to a base, we shall drive to Parliament building once you have finshed your checks, do I need a time slot to see the former PM.?"

"Yes, he will receive them via his radio... and we can take a government car, not a cab, it's safer that way. No timeslot. There's a special VIP entrance to get past the wait."

"Excellent, thank you for your help, my pilot shall leave once we have left the roof. I am looking forward to seeing Ryan English, please lead the way." He said smiling to her

President Burte had been led by the New Brittonian Minister of Equalities, Preya Gandhi, downstairs, down the street and into the Governmental building where Ryan English was laying in state, he asked to be alone.
He sat there silently mourning and quietly paying thanks to English for his unknown about teachings. after saying thanks he continued to sit there, starring at English.
