Black Gold (Massive Oil Discoveries, MT)

Another routine overcast day at sea, it seemed for the crew of RNS-Merchant Marie. The two hundred foot ship cut along at a steady 22 knots. Seemed like any other day passing by the Adreani Island chain, until one of the deck hands noticed a fine golden film left behind from washing waves...
Some days and an official investigation later, the notice was put out to the world, that The Adreani Islands sat over a vast oil and natural gas system. The native population of 32 Million were peasants of the modern world, their society based entirely around agriculture. They thought of themselves as a collection of townships and villages, but not as a single united nation. Consequently, The CERC hereby declares them a neutral party.
Climate is moderate. High 90's, 100+% humidity, 50% overcast, heavy rainfall, heavily forested, low rough jagged terrain, highest point is 600 feet.
Soon the race would begin to capture this ungodly-potentially wealthy land.

"Nick! Someone discovered oil!"
"Where? And how big?"
"Very big, and no one has claimed it yet. Its called...The Adreani Islands."
"Send Task Force D, and send a message to GRANT Inc to send some forces also, I have a feeling these islands will be contested."
"No problem Nick. The Task Force is already there."
--------------------------------------------------
Task Force D was off the coast of the west side of the islands, helicopters flew over the west, there was nothing but forest areas everywhere. Landing parties started land on the island.

A small contingent of 500 Airborne Troopers flew out from under the overcast and made a successful parachute insertion on the eastern peak of the island. Assembling on the ground, they began to set up field operations and heavy communications equipment to prepare for future operations.
OOC: something like that, Ixania?
Miroxian High Counselor Durant Adams got word of what is called in Miroxia "The Black Gold Isles". Being a Pacific nation, it wasn't had to get coordinates and send out the 4th Class Miroxian ships. They had taken off as soon as word got out.
The ships spotted land quickly as the admirals gazed upon the gold-mine before them, or in this case, Oily Paradise.

Admiral Jon Voight was having dinner at that time. Nothing was happening, and the Carier Group Glory was moving northwards at low speed. When he got the message, he sighed and got up. He walked to the map room, swearing at his superiors demands of haste. Apartly they wanted to beat the riff raff to the Islands. He didn't spend long looking at his charts before selecting a landing zone - a small group of mini islands to the extreme east of chain. A total of seven by his maths, with a location for a sheltered harbour. As for an exact location, he choose the second largest of the seven, facing the largest.

Admiral Jon Voight watched from his carriers deck as the first men began to trufge onshore. To be honest his carier group was more suited to combat situations than colinizations, but orders where orders. He watched through his binoculars as the four Amphibious Assualt Transports moved ashore. Each carried over 200 men and the equipment they'd need - prefab shelters, diggers, jeeps, APC's and more. Food and so forth would begin being deployed later that day.
He moved his gaze to the highest peak on this small island. As he watched a chinhook helicpcter touched down. Out of it he saw a group of men leap, before planting the flag of Belschaft on the small peak. He smiled, then turned to his comand crew -
"Men, i'm going onshore."

The ships arrived at the first island of their claims. High Counselor Durant had sent word to the Royal Code government, the discoverers, of what islands they were to claim. They anchored as the first of their troops set foot on to the land, guns in hand, ready to fire on the natives if they be uncilvilized, but the way they saw a small city and others interacting with each other, they could let their guard down about 5 levels.
Admiral Krusiare went up to a man in fine clothes (for the islanders, that is). He had dark skin. "Are you the mayor of this city?"
"Yes. We are the Unofficially United Township of Redrick. I am Mayor Hjiu Tretks," he said.
"Well, a nation called the Royal Code gave us this land. Don't worry. We are from Miroxia, a large island nation with a nonoppresive leader. We don't wish to harm you."
"How many islands did he offer?"
"We've got maybe 5 or 6 more to explore," he said, watching his men raise the new flag. Durant designed it differently from Miroxia's flag. When the flag reached the top, the militia suluted. "Well, do you mind keeping your people under control for a while?"
"No, we will be fine."
"Then I hearby official annex Redrick," he said. "Let's move on, troops," he said as they walked off into the forest behind the civilization.

The BCS Heavenfire, a Helmsson Wolfram transport and command vessel, was making full speed to the shore. Breaking through the waves, over two dozen ships could be seen in its wake stretching back toward the horizon.
"Land ho, Captain!"
"Thankyou ensign. Gentleman, make ready for landing."
"Aye sir."
Several officers, their maroon uniforms distinguishing them from the sole Nautical Service in his navy uniform, marched to the various parts of the ship. On the deck, two Westland Wellingtons were preparing for takeoff.
"Wellingtons prepped and ready, sir."
"Let control know. I want the sector scanned. Let the group know that we're readying. Relay an announcement on all international frequencies."
The announcement that went out was brief.
"All forces: This is Task Force Harvest Black. Our claims are being transmitted post-message. We do not seek confrontation however we have security services on site. Barronian Armed Services are on standby. We repeat, we do not seek confrontation."

OOC: I have various abbreviations depending on the ship use. I'll use the alternative, BCoS (Barronian Corporation Ship, as opposed to BCiS - Barronian Civilian Ship, or BMS - Barronian Military Ship). Corporations in Barronia are entities unto themselves - see Corporatism (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatism) - and as such, have their own small naval fleets (for civilian and security purposes), private security forces, etc, etc.

"No, we will be fine."
"Then I hearby official annex Redrick," he said. "Let's move on, troops," he said as they walked off into the forest behind the civilization.
Admiral Krusiare lead the troops slowly through the forests of their new colony. Nothing much, just an occasianal bamboo-hut house. But then, it happened: the Tribe of Forest, an uncilivized tribe, ambushed the troops! Men with just mere loin cloths and bows and arrows just ran out and started to massacre!
"Back up! Back up! Miroxia Star 8 pick up! We are under attacked!" Krusiare yelled, shooting his gun at the natives attacking.
It was alomost ten minutes before the back up arrived along with the semi-trained militia of Redrick. Then chaos started. The Tribe of Forest had men with poisoned arrows hiding in the trees. When back up came, they were destroyed. Then the men threw grenades at the trees, destroying the forest, building paths, and killing savages.
Then the Miroxians used bigger guns and larger grenades. Within an hour, the people of Forest would listen to reason.
"We no want people in oil land. We here of "gas prices" from your land and know you want our land to serve your land!" their cheif, Son of the Forest Yui the 89th Rebirth, yelled when Krusiare went to compromise.
"We are nonoppressive," he said gently. "We would care for you. Your militia skills are impressive. You could help guard our shared oil." He knew what they wanted to hear.
"Well," Son of Forest said, "Okay; we agree."
The Miroxians then began to cut down trees and haul them back to the ship. Miroxian firewood to sell when they got home; score! Then the flag-raisers rose another flag as Krusiare said, "I, officially, hearby annex the Tribe of Forest and all their territory for Miroxia!"
Then they went on to the rest of the isle.

Scolar, Department of Resource Procurement
"Hegor, get your ass in here.", Colonel Gortz shouted through the newly painted plate glass window in his office, standing up as he looked down upon a newly received intelligence invoice.
"Yes Colonel.", reported the man as he entered the room, looking over a number of papers inside the black folder he held.
"Send this over to Colonel Hax... apparently one of our old cells is still sending us intel... seems there is a spec of land out in the Helvent that may help with Avicon's oil problem.", the Colonel handed Captain Hegor the sealed file and ended the encounter with a solute. Promptly returning to his work, blood dripped onto the papers upon the desk, causing Gortz to grit his teeth and dab them with the cold wash cloth to his right. "God damned Vernochts... damn this blasted disease to hell..." As he placed the bloodied rag back upon the steel table, he continued to curse the plague that afflicted all Kroandons. Vernochts Syndrome, the wonderful side effect of the CL-666 used to eliminate the plague a few years back. It was relatively harmless, besides the fact that is causes ones gums to bleed on a regular basis, and shortens the life expectancy by ten to fifteen years.
Colonel Hax's Office
Hax leaned back in his large black leather armchair, reading over the file which had just landed on his desk. Oil. Lots of oil according to the source. Further intelligence reported a number of countries moving to occupy the country, which meant only one thing. "Admiral Krol... yes this is Colonel Hax with Fuel Procurement Division... yea, I've got solid intell putting oil in the Helvent... I'd like you to dispatch Battle Group 7 and occupy this designated sector... yes, secure the area and make way for the drills which should be arriving shortly thereafter... Miroxian troops soon arrived at the end of the island. "Well, buys, we did it. We conquered the first of many islands. Raise a flag!" yelled Krusiare. A third flag was raised. "I officially annex this island under the Pacific Isle Council State of Miroxia!" Loud cheers went around as he named the island: "I hereby cresent thee, Massacre Island, after the horrible massacre in the Forestlands." Everyone took their hat off in respect, then moved on.
Their small fleet had pulled up around to pick them up on the north end of the isle. The got onboard then had about a half hour of relaxation.
When they arrived at the next isle, they had about 50 troops armed with standard rifles. They then went into the lush forest that covered the island with meshedies in hand, cutting down thick crabgrass, weak trees, and pathing a way for Miroxian settlers. After an hour, they reached their ship at the other end.
"This island appears to be uninhabited!" Krusiare yelled to the ship. He then got more people to raise a flag. "I hereby officially annex this island, which I cresent thee Inhabitabilis for the uninhabitants, for Miroxia!"
They then pulled off again. Conquest, oil, and riches were in the future. They could taste it.

Kikoskriat
31-05-2008, 20:06
Kikoskriat had not been wasting time when this had been announced. Yes, they didn't exactly have the sheer military might of some of the nations that had placed claims on other areas of this fine oil area. However, Kikoskriat had had different ideas when they thought of what to claim and how. Fighting a war for oil against them was useless, most of the good land had already been claimed and they didn't have the presence to take large tracts of land already claimed...
...However, they did have the capability to take land for other purposes. Kikoskriat, quietly and without much fanfare, moved troops onto the two southern most islands, tiny islands in comparison to the hgue land masses being fought over. Instead of small groups of troops, however, many troopers were sent in without geology teams, seemingly unequipped completely to search for oil. Instead, the troops and the gunships that they had come on had a completely different purpose in mind, one as of yet undetermined. Construction, however, of unknown buildings began almost immediately.
Open Message to all current land-owners of The Adreani Islands
This is an announcement to all concerned parties that are currently in the land-grab of these islands. the Nation of Kikoskriat has laid claim to the two southern islands. We are not in the race for oil and we are to take no further territory in these islands, unclaimed or otherwise. We are also not going to initialise any hostilities with either the local natives or other national forces, nor will we be co-erced into doing so by others. While we will not attack your people, any attacks against our own will be defended against to the best of our ability.
Our reasons for claiming land in this place are many, including the desire to preserve the native culture of the island's original inhabitants and to preserve the two island's natural beauty and wildlife. No oil digging shall take place in our claimed lands.

A fleet of Ixanian ships sailed towards the Adreani Islands in the hopes of making their government's claim official in the face of the other nations who were scrambling to get a piece of the pie. Her Majesty, the Empress, had just told her government earlier in the week that they should try to make peace with all other nations in the islands and that war should always be a last resort; she was not willing to send soldiers to their deaths when a peaceful resolution could be not only reached but maintained. There were about 10,000soldiers who were being sent to the island claim along with plenty of settlers and workers who would make new lives for themselves in Ixanian Adreania which was now the newest colony of the Empire. Ixanian imperialism, they called it, was still going strong and would probably have much fuel left to use. When the ships finally landed, makeshift camps were built all over the coast while a proclamation went out from the main camp which was christened with the name of Camp Schverzinski, the name of the reigning dynasty in the Ixanian Empire.
Open Message to the Claimants of Land in the Adreani Islands
The Ixanian Empire has laid claim to the parts of the islands in the red color and desires that all nations who have claimed land work to secure peace and prosperity for all. We shall work arduously to preserve the native culture and environment present in our land claim and although we will proceed with the harvesting of oil in our land claim, we shall not devote ourselves to expanding for the sake of getting more oil. We will not be hostile with anyone, native or foreign, but we will defend ourselves should the need arise.
Signed,

((OOC: Cool. I am looking forward to the RPing of this thread.))
The discovery of the second set of islands not too far away was too good to be true. Add to that that it had practically been uncolonised as well! The military in the area already as well as newly assigned troopers had to consider very carefully where they could claim as well as quickly. Again, the same problems as with the north island reared their ugly head, but this time they had the chance to get somewhere far more substantial then before without the threat of retaliation, being there before everyone else had it's distinct advantages.
Eventually, however, a conservative approach was agreed on by both the military strategists back in Kikoskriat and Ferdino that a large island quite a ways south from the main islands, one that again wouldn't want to be used by a lot of other nations, one that might not even have oil and other valuable resources, but that was only a secondary concern to them. Again, the military moved in quickly, securing a primary camp and then hatsily starting construction of unknown buildings, secured by armed troopers and another gunboat. Again, the true purpose of the buildings was unknown.

OOC: I would like some land on the Southern Adreani Islands. Anywhere coastal will do. Approximately the same size as my current territory.
IC:
Two Weeks Prior
There was a great buzz in the Vanteland. After the claim made by the Commonwealth, there were talks of a new Empire, a greater Empire. This of course, gave great hope to the people, and the new Adreani Trading Company was sending people in droves to colonize this land in the name of the Commonwealth. Missionaries wanting to convert the natives, poormen seeking a new chance, soldiers sent to defend, and tycoons looking for money. All were sent by boat and plane, to secure the Vanteland's power.
However, before the claim had been made, before even the ATC had been formed, the Vantanians had established a city, albeit just barely. The city was Adrianopolis, and it was to become the capitol of the new Vantanian colony, Phoenix. Already, it had harbors, a capital building, and a residential district, although much of it was pre-fabricated.
Present
The Vantanians had been here for a week, and it was highly evident that they were there. Cities, built from scratch or prefabricated, dotted the coastline, and, to an extent, the interior. Missionaries and Company officials had gone deep into the interior, converting and incorporating the natives to the Vantanian side. So far, it had proven easy, as these natives were foolish people, pagans. They readily accepted Christ, and aligned themselves with the Free Commonwealth. Already, Vantanians were abandoning the shoddy interior cities that had been made, shipping the materials via rail to Adrianopolis.
The colony was soldifying into an economic powerhouse, as trade routes turned to railways, as native villages became exporting towns, and as the coastline catered to various settlers, missionaries, and traders. Though still dependant on the Vanteland, already returns were being made on the Vantanian investment.

Two points:
1. The Griffincrest Corporation shall have complete monopoly over all oil present in Phoenix; however, this oil must be sold directly to the Vantanians, or sold to foreigners with the Free Commonwealth gaining five percent of profits.
2. The Falcon Rail Company would like to create a coastal railway connecting our two colonies.

The convoy pulled to a halt outside the city. Exiting the lead vehicle, the man pulled down the brim on his cap and directed the men down the main road.
The VLT M5s behind them carried surveying equipment, and their intention was to spend the night in the city before moving deeper inland.
The city hall stood prominent, a grey-stone, gothic building towering over the buildings around it. The convoy pulled up in the car park, and a detachment of men headed inside.
-----
One hour later...
A single fanfare blew as the Barronian flag rose above the town hall. The Mayor, now Lord Governor, had been bribed off with the promise of power and lordship over the lands.
The land, christened Coda Minor, would soon be entirely under Barronian control.

.8 Miles off the Coast of Kroandon Claim
The K.K.S. Holvoc sat off the coast of the newly claimed island, at the head of over 80 ships that made up the Helvent Taskforce. Admiral Moluvis stood at the command deck of the Nimitz Class Carrier, watching over as the child natives of the island played on the pristine beaches, running about, splashing water at one another. Slowly however, their play began to cease, as their parents rushed them into the jungle away from the ocean, where 'strange creatures' had been spotted on the water. The vessels of the task force must have been quite the mystery to the native tribe which had yet to have any contact with the outside world. Moluvis just stood there, smiling, watching as the island tried to brace itself for what was to come... they had no idea.
In a past time, the task force would open up with bombing strikes on satellite targeted villages and drop in execution squads to destroy any natives that escaped. No longer was that the policy of Kroando. With the rise to power of the White Hand, the natives would not be killed, no, that was to swift an end. They would be converted. They would be made into pure human subjects worthy of life. Intelligence estimated there to be around 600,000 natives living inside the Kroandon Claim, which meant another 600,000 would be brought under the control of the Hand. The ultra-fanatical rule of the White Hand was now beginning to spread, and it would not stop until either its goals were accomplished... or it was destroyed.
Their trio of converted Montana Class Battleships sat facing the island, guns all directed at the vast spans of jungle in the distance. These monsters of an ancient time took no part in battle, they were meant only for conversion purposes - for dumping CL-666 on the island. The Halcons, converted for naval usage, took off en mass towards the island, over 120 of them in one massive sortie... but they carried no bombs. The strike began as the Montanas opened up, firing 600 pound canisters unto the island at various villages and population centers. The canisters thudded into the ground, and immediately began spewing CL-666 unto the surrounding landscape - the thick white gas choking the lungs of those who inhaled it for several minutes until they grew accustomed. The Montanas fired the canisters from the shore, and the Halcons dropped it from above. Not only was the substance released from these canisters, but it was also dispersed via converted crop dusters, which sprayed massive swaths of land with the chemical. Within thirty five minutes of the first canisters being fired, the entire Kroandon claim - and a bit of the land to the west, was covered in CL-666.
Within seven hours, the natives would lose their hair, and begin coughing up blood. Withing nine hours, they would lose all pigment to their skin and their eyes would turn a sickly yellow. Within twelve hours, Korvacht Legionnaires would occupy the area.

Subject: Native Rights and Vetakan Administered Protectorate
Greetings,
Honoured Nations and Business Enterprises alike I am Crouching Tiger of the Tribal Council of Vetaka. Many of the worlds political leadership and leading industrial giants will know me by the name of Dr Perry Cox, Vice President of Republican Vetaka. Today however I like my fellow Vetakans have embraced our native, Tribal and Peaceful Origin. An origin of Peace, Honour, Loyalty and Courage and Origin many Vetakans see within the Native Populace of these lands.
As such wanting to protect and promote the native culture of these lands the Tribal Council formally petitions all parties involved to allow Vetaka to secure Lands within the Southern Islands to allow the Vetakan Tribal Council Administered Pearce Weapons Incorporated to extract and refine the natural resources below to facilitate the protection and promotion of the Natives of the Region.
Such a protectorate would be Administered locally by a native elected leader and protected, promoted and supported by the Tribal Chiefdom of Vetaka and its Allies. The Tribal Council is willing to secure such a protectorate via purchase with any price a potential sale. Would such a proposal be feasible?

The Fighter4u Centeral Command
"Oil has been discovered in some god forsaken land sir!",cryed a breathless aid of the Fighter4u Navy Command.
Admiral Button started reading a handout he was given from the aid before crying "MY GOSH!" and ran over to his phone.
"Greg!Order The Second fleet over to Kondon and our claim. I want troops and equipment over their now! This oil can be a great help to us!"
And thats how Admiral Geston of the Fighter4u P.R.S.S.F. 2th Carrier fleet was standing on yet another bridge, looking over even more waves. To a land better lefted untouched.Just so he beloved boys could died once again for no good reason at all. With a heavy heart he turned to his aid and told him to inform the 2rd squadron to start to ready for a airdrop into the Kondon claim to claim the land for fighter4u.
Ah,their it was. A proud and wild horison opened up to Adrimal Greston view. Allowing him to see the peaks of great mountians and the massive oaks that flew up toward the sky as those on a quest to meet their creator.

Phoenix
Adrianopolis was turning into a bustling city, assimilating the small towns that had developed in the initial rush. A government was starting to form, and from it organization sprang forth.
Now, instead of a loose string of constructs continuously along the coast, there were small city structures developed each a day's distance away from each other. Now, where excess coastal settlers were cut off, they were shipped deeper in, into the interior. As Griffincrest drilling platforms began to develop, so to did towns to service them. Indeed, it was from these towns that entrepreneurial Vantanians found copper, tin, and silver, from which to make their wealth. Indeed, the interior's population was split even between service industries and mining, with agriculture, energy, and manufacturing filling in the remainder.
After years of settling colonies, the Vantanians had perfected it to an art, as was evident by the strength of Phoenix Colony.
Fighter4u
21-06-2008, 03:04
New Fighter4u
The Fighter4u fleet had landed on the their claim of Kondlike. Which was renamed to New Fighter4u. Then Fighter4u troops marched to the various small towns that dotted the area and placed themself in control of these centers. By briding the local officals and then placing grascions in each town. Well at the same time, recuiting local able men to scout out the wildness and help settle New Fighter4u. The area was mountious in the north, where survey teams reported a good chance of their being off-shore oil. Well other teams survey the land inwards by using planes, helicopters and blazing their own trails through the underbrush. Mainwhile ports in the natural habour were being build at a fast pace as twenty up towards seventy vessels arrived and lefted the various ports all week. Their noise barely being blocked out by the cargo planes and military jets that arrived on make shift runways.
Some 350,000 natives were founded through New Fighter4u. Some where peaceful natives who were quite willing in exchange for payment to show the forces around and help in the devlopment of the area. Accpeting the fact that life would be better under the new rule of the almightly fighter4u. Others well hostile fighters who after brief battles and alot of talk and proimse.Agree to force the vanguard of New Fighter4u defense. Training had already begun.
Throughout all of this. The massive oaks that fell throughout the land,to be replace by metal and concerte. The dirt roads that bury mother earth. They all pointed to one thing. A new colony that would be invested heavily in by fighter4u. Already hundreds of thousands of fighter4u people have made the journey to this new land to make farms, open up new mines and help place the oil equipment into place. Railways were being put in to help settle the interior quickly with familys being payed to settle and raise a home on their own plot of land. Sunlight as it was being called was Christian the New Captial. Already it was home to four hundred thousand people. With factorys already begining to harvest the various ores being mined from New Fighter4u.
Towns themself sprung uplike wildfire. Already the natives were finding themself more and more pushed into the mainstream of society.
It would not be long before settlers in the inteoir would connect to the settlers on the coast.
"This is it?"
Henry Martins looked out across the sandy beaches over the frames of his dark sunglasses. In the distance several grey specks dotted the horizon, with flies or gnats buzzing all around them. He then swatted a mosquito that had dared to land upon his arm, his hair matted down with sweat.
"At least it is land, Henry," another man replied, shorter and stockier with a wide-brimmed straw hat placed neatly upon his head, so neatly as to be entirely and obviously foreign. His own arms were bathed in sweat and a pinkish red—he had been ashore for some hours more than Martins. "We did have a rather uncomfortable voyage after all."
The two men nodded solemnly, preferring not to remember the hours spent clutched to the railings or the waste bins, or the toilets, or the sinks. They looked down the beach, along the tree line towards a small rise, over which a soldier appeared with a rifle and a beret. "Well, at least this one came back intact," Martins aired with a slight grin.
"Sirs," the soldier began—though his insignia identified as a captain in the Royal Marines, a distinction neither of the two men could make—"the villagers just north and east of here seem agreeable to the prospect of building a village here. Though they did make certain to make quite clear we are not to fish from the shoreline—these are their ancestral waters." The Royal Marine noted the blank stare from the two men and shrugged his shoulders before continuing. "Situationally, about three dozen villagers, maybe one dozen adult males capable of taking up arms. Regardless, they spoke of a larger village with many more indigenous people further inland. From what I could gather they maintain some sort of serf-lord relationship with this larger polity using this village to provide fish and related goods along with forced labour."
"Slavery?" Martins asked, his blank stare replaced with one of incredulity.
"It would appear so, sir."
"Well, that shall not do," the shorter man added quickly.
"If I may, sirs," the marine captain interjected, "this is the sixth site we have visited with appropriate sounding for our landing craft—and the first with a relatively receptive native population. If not here, where else? Surely a small garrison force ought be sufficient to defend your personnel."
The two men exchanged a quick glance. "And you are quite certain that your garrison could defend our personnel," Martins asked.
"Quite, sir. Well…" Martins replied, trailing off. "I imagine there are worse places to be—"
"Though a river or identifiable well system would be preferable," the second man interrupted.
"The natives appear to have claimed them all already, Jack. If we fail to settle soon we may not settle at all."
Within several hours, the first loads of equipment and the personnel required to operate all of it were landed and largely ready to begin operations. A small contingent of Royal Marines embarked upon a Royal Navy frigate had secured the landing zone, expanded through the rough clearing of forest via explosives. Their presence felt needed soon after as the loud concussions trigged the curiosity of the indigenous peoples. Slowly, and with increasing numbers, they began to mill about the perimeter, looking with wonder at the newly cleared forest and the large flat sided objects that seemed to store infinite—or at least rather large—numbers of oddly shaped objects.
OOC: My Photobucket is down, Hence i can't display my updated map id like to claim the area between Azazia and Fighter4u. With the land stretching south to where it connects with the peninsula. I'll get an IC Post up when Its been confirmed.

Fighter4u contruction crews were working around the clock for nearly a three weeks on the western borader of Fighter4u new claim. All the hills and and high peaks within a mile and a half were being blowed up with TNT to flatten the land providi fighteru with a clear firing field for any future attacks agaisnt it. While destroying any future enemy adavnghts with having the hill ground. All of this dirt was then tranported back to the Fighter4u borader. Where massive artifcial hills were contructed across the entire western borader. The massive operation had already been going on for a week and by now involed nearly 850,000 men and machieny. Clearly New Fighter4u Command though the defense of the colony was more important then the development of it. These newly created hills would soon be fortied with massive walls, armed with enough military power to convice any navy, airforce or ground unit to think twice beforetrying to breakthough the defenses. Which called for triple wall defense, towers every hundred yards, machine guns nests, sniper towers, gaint towers of lights, massive gates,radar,anti-air units, artillery units and other various things. The wall close to the sea. Was enforce even further to withstand navy bombmartment. But most of the north was still untamed,if not protected by protaling navy units and radar provided by aircraft and makeshift ground stations. Obviousally not all of this was being builded right away. Just the hills and the outlines of the first wall.
And to further strenghten their defenses. Six miles of the western and yet unclaim teriorrty was placed to the flame and burned down. Villages, tress, wildlife. Everything was killed to provide a clean line of fire. And the fourth to third miles closest to fighter4u was mined in a way to seriously hinder a enemy land invasion, but provide a easy route for Fighter4u forces to advance from. The Second mile had trenches and barbwire defenses. Along with more anti-air defense. With the entire place planned to have various "secret" defenses also placed within the ground. Hidden traps would make a land invasion into Fighter4u all but impossible.
But right now. Minus a few ongoing blasts. Most of the hills and peaks in this new no man land were destroyed and the fake hills were being put into place.
If any military force had a problem with Fighter4u forces taking a few extra miles and turning them into a bluffer zone. The New Fighter4u Defense Force was on high alert and really to protect their contruction crews. But most likely the new neighbours wouldn't even notice or care about the few extra miles. After all. Fighter4u could wipe them out before they got a foothold into the area.
On the south and the south eastern borader of New Fighter4u. Plans were made for a massive land battery to control the strait now called The New Devil Strait from land. And such gain control over entrence of the bay that would provide a valublue shipping lane among other things. Especially for New Fighter4u new neighbours. To further express infulence and control over the area. Fighter4u navy fleet was in constant protal of the area and even those it dare not extend it control further then a area further then half way into the strait. But that why Fighter4u would become intrested in being allys of the whoever claims the area on the other side. As together they could legally control the area and control all shipping and provide sea routes further inland.
OOC:http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/1348/blackgoldup2zf0.png
And if you don't know where the Devil Strait is. Its that strip of water on the southern part of my colony. Between the land.
Area that New Fighter4u delcares it waters. Entry by military ships is forbidden unless approve by New Fighter4u. All civilan shipping may pass untouch unless Fighter4u believe their safetely is endanger by these ships.
Key:Yellow square is the captial(Sunlight) and the red dots are other various towns and cites being formed. Brown lines are dirt roads and black lines are paved roads. If their no roads to the town. Its being supplied by the sea.
The black circle around me is the area I control with my navy fleets. I delcare it my water and any military ships in large numbers that do not belong their will be engaged. If you want passing rights in the Devil Strait. Talk to me first. No ships will pass by without being approve by me as my ships will block them and fire if need be. The orange line is where my Western land defense begins andthe pink lines are the trenches and stuft. The purple line behind it is where the walls begin. The black dots are off-shore oil finds. Notice the massive field just in my sea waters? Their alot more out of my waters. (A good RP plot prehaps?)
As all of this was going on. Shipyards began to appear on the coast as copper, tin, and other ores were being found in massive amounts and were used to contruct more ships. But it would be slow going as these shipyards would not product ships for a while. Their was more important things to look after first. Like the rapid contrusction of towns all over New Fighter4u. The massive off-shore oil fields that were being found. Needed rigs and boats to supplys them. Men to crew them. Nearly two million Old Fighter4u have come to settle in the newland and over 750,000 more natives were found in the newly exorpled parts off New Fighter4u. Along with many natives flocking in droves from elsewhere on the island to earn these things called coins to buy valubale objects that made their old lifestyle better and more easy to do. But they would soon find that they have to work just to earn enough to live. As life was very tough here in New Fighter4u. And with the rapid amount of building. Those who slowed down, were lefted behind. These poor souls would find their way to the military and those that were good trackers from elsewhere would gain high pay for their skills. With so much money and people now in this colony. Some 550,000 military units would arrived arrive with the First Carrier group (now more or less a escorting party for the massive amount of civilians ships following) and the Second and Fourth Fighter4u Battlefleet would soon arrive. They carried more military eqiuipment and many planes to protect and serve the new colony. This would put the military defense of the colony up to 950 thousand military men. If you inculde the 150,000 natives that were for now just poorly trained miltia. Along with all the civilians, merchants and big bunessines who were now targetting new areas of growth and control in the colony.

Fighter4u
23-06-2008, 02:53
The fortress knowned as the Fighter4u Grand Wall is now 25% compeleted. The hills have been maded and the defensive structures are being put into place. Now,this land of great beauty is a grand pit of metal and mud. But metal and mud that will not easily fall.
Off-shore oil was booming as hundreds of rigs were put into place. Fighter4u would soon be pumping billions of barrels of oil weekly. Along with oil despoits now being found onland. This would result in trillions of barrels of oil under Fighter4u control. With more just waiting to be found.
By now the entire southern part of New Fighter4u was firmly under mankind grasp. As cities and their factorys crawl further and futher into the wildlife. Paved roads snaked for hundreds of miles. Fast food restuarants such as Fast Burger and meta stores like Mal-Mark were opening in droves amoung the southern cities. And even the towns which were blooming as they serivce the rapid needs of the oil industry and the common people of New Fighter4u who wanted goods to improve their lifestyle. Already police forces where being estabsied as pubs bloomed throughout the colony. New Fighter4u was here to stay. Any attempt by a forgein army to push them into the sea would fail.
After all, their was now the Second and Fourth Fighter4u Battlefleet, along with the first Carrier group operating in the homewaters. With such a massive presence. New Fighter4u now felt safe in delcaring the New Devil Strait under the full control of New Fighter4u. This ment it would cost to have your civilian ships move through the area. And all military ships that were not allys, were blocked from entering unless otherwise stated.
The southern cities defenses were being improved massively with batterys and walls being builded to stop sea invasion. Guns pointed toward the air and sea. But sea was the biggest threat. Expect in the southwest where a airbase was being builded just to defend the Grand Wall. Smaller boats were also though to be key in defending the strait and the southern shore. Those they would be backed up by captial ships and the navy fleet. A submarie base was even being builded as Fighter4u subs arrived to increase the navy power of New Fighter4u.
Fighter4u shipyards at this time were producing small attacks boats in the hundreds, along with defensive ships to guard the northern islands coastline and stop the smuggling that was popping up. As the north still contuince to be untamed. But at least towns were being connected and cities were appearing. Their was even a limit form of fishing amoung the northern islands. Along with mines that produce things like gold, rodium, silver, platinum, osmium and large quailtlys of aluminium. The eastern country is becoming more knowed for farming. And cattle grazing on the strip of land that goes out into the sea. This strip of land is becoming heavily popuated by Newfighter4us is more or less is becoming a recgioze part of the colony as it is now producing most of New Fighter4u meat. While at the same time proving to be a valuable place to have coast guards and navy ports. Along with airbases. The center is becoming a information hubs as the big bunessies place their HQ their. And commericals centers pop up all over the center region.
With two million people now believe to be offically living in New Fighter4u and it "terriortys". Along with a million soldiers. It can truely be said that New Fighter4u is the island powerhouse. Already the military preforms drills after drills as it get ready to not only defend New Fighter4u,but to increase it glory and terriotys. Already plans were being put into place.

Thomaston, Royal Crown Colony of Adreania
After several days of surveying, Martins finally felt comfortable enough to relax into a wicker chair he had brought from the Home Islands. As de facto governor, his mansion was nothing more elaborate than a pre-fabricated shelter located in the midst of a city of tents and a few hastily-built structures. Thick cables lay on the ground with thinner ones suspended in the air from former trees made into utility poles. The air smelt sickly sweet from diesel fuel and disinfectant, almost hospital-like save for the sweeter scents of the fruits and flowers growing in the adjacent jungle.
A knock on the thin sheet metal door pulled Martins from a late-afternoon nap. He hurriedly assembled some papers on his desk before standing to open the locked door. "Ah, Jack, what do we have today?"
"Not a great deal that is new. The Caledonia shall be arriving on the southern shore sometime tonight and the first survey shall be complete by the following night. The initial reports indicate that they have found a native polity willing to accept His Majesty's sovereignty in exchange for protection from a more powerful village down the coast."
Martins chuckled. Colonisation of simpler people almost always seemed to work in the same fashion—nobody really seemed to understand the ultimate fate of their land. "What about the soldiers?"
After watching the settlement's founding with great curiosity, the indigenous people melted back into the thick jungles without a word. An expedition to establish ties with the village that gave permission for an Oceanian settlement was found massacred in what Martins termed in his official report as "a savage fashion." Consequently, the Royal Marines had despatched a small force into the jungle to find the power behind the slaying.
"Nothing concrete as of yet, sir. But I am informed that the natives apparently show increasing resentment towards our presence the deeper the Royal Marines progress into the jungle."
"Well I would rather do this peacefully, Jack." Martins shook his head disgustedly before motioning towards the small micro-refrigerator he had also brought from home. John Russell was Martins' principal partner in the enterprise that would hopefully yield a successful Oceanian colony. Russell nodded, without any source of fresh water all the personnel were still reliant upon bottled water. Treatment systems were ashore but not yet fully operational.
"It would be a bloody shame if we had to use all the military personnel to fend off native incursions. No," Martins paused a brief moment to hand Russell a bottle and then twist the plastic cap off his own. "No, if at all possible I should rather co-opt these native states into our own. Guarantee them protection and a measure of self-governance in exchange for sovereignty over them and some shares of the profits."
"And you think they will all go for this, Henry?"
"No," Martins replied matter-of-factly, chillingly so to Russell. "We shall likely need to kill large numbers of them." Martins then shrugged his shoulder and took a sip from his bottle. "But they shall then see the error of their ways."
HMS Malediction
95 km North of Oceanian Aldreania
Vice-Admiral George Davis tapped his finger on the display panel, bringing the selected window to the top. As the Royal Navy officer in command of the defence of Aldreania, it was his intention to monitor the military development of the various colonies both on the southern island and the northern. For now, he was content to keep a small screening force in the north—along with the main body of his command—and a small surface group backed by long-range diesel-electric patrol submarines in the south.
The fleet's air wing provided coverage for the carrier group and the valley over the northern portion of the Oceanian colony, at the western edge of which could be found Thomaston. Davis smiled to himself at that point on the map. Less than a week into the colony's existence and Martins had managed to name a settlement after a cabinet minister. Perhaps the colony would last after all.
Regardless, satellite photography and intelligence reports from Georgetown hinted at the buildup of a military presence in the northeastern portion of the island, still someways distant from Aldreania but close enough to warrant attention. Hence the positioning of the screening force, comprised of a three frigates and one diesel-electric patrol submarine. With the exception of their AEW helicopter and requisite briefs and ship-to-ship communications, the force remained silent. Davis was content to remain that way—no need to make enemies so soon.
Jungle, Northern Oceanian Aldreania
Tivor Kalset watched in awe through a hole in the canopy as a large and noisy silver bird flew in a perfectly straight line, slicing across the otherwise unblemished blue morning sky. As the noise abated, Kalset brought his gaze down towards the younger warriors amassed before him. As chieftain of the largest village in the central jungle he could call upon hundreds of warriors—but they now reported that these strangers could without raising a fist level a whole section of the forest. And he suspected call upon the silver birds flying above him.
He had already ordered his warriors to exact punishment on the foolish people of the sea who had let these strangers land, thereby upsetting the sensitive balance of power between the villages that had for so long kept the peace. Kalset feared these strangers would tear down the whole forest for their strange huts and fellow people of pale, white skin.
Under his rule, unknown to him one that would be considered semi-democratic, were several hundred thousand natives whose daily economy was based on a system of subsistence agriculture—though neighbouring villages and towns often bartered their goods for his. The people of the sea provided fish and jewels while the people of the mountain provided metals and food. His people provided food and meat. And people.
He sent forth runners to the neighbouring tribes in the distant lands of the island. Tribes now knowingly or unknowingly under the dominion of foreign powers—not that even Kalset knew of such events. Instead he simply wished to enquire as to whether or not strangers had been seen walking amongst their lands and if so what course of action the tribes were taking. To those tribes and villages known more closely to Kalset, he sent a different message. He asked them to send their leaders and best warriors to his capital at Vajoral where they could discuss a proper response.

The natives in the South Adreani Island claim were not nearly as welcoming as those further north. The 35th Infantry, and 1st Motor Support Divisions were hailed as evil invaders to the peoples of the land. As the 3rd Fleet continued to pour men and material ashore, the natives were spotted moving large quantities of their own men closer and closer to the Royal perimeter.
The two-thousand lightly armed Royal Infantrymen were brave souls, but outrageously outnumbered, as that many natives massed mere miles away on a bi-daily basis, and the two thousand men of the 1st Motor would be of little assistance to ward off attacking natives. A mix of stabbing weapons and simple firearms were confirmed as sighted in the crowds of gathering natives.
...
Further north, the original five hundred men that had been put on the ground to scout the land, had finished their task. As they were making their way back to the shore, further out to sea, Battle Group Sierra was unloading the 51st Cavalry Division, and the 21st Motor Support (Reserve) Division. Though more divisions waited to be sent ashore, it was in the best interest not to upset the friendly natives of the North Adreani, by appearing to be annexing their lands. Some weeks would pass before the first drilling would begin.
ooc: Fighter4u, you can attack other territories if you like. Open board now.
Fighter4u

The first carrier group was now long gone as airbases within New Fighter4u now offer the best protection and a safer way to transmit airpower onto the rest of the island. The colony was now a fully pledge state of Fighter4u. It could protect, supply and expand all on it owns. The only thing is could not do without is the navy protection of the battle fleets. In fact things were going so good, that a majortiy of New Fighter4u citizens in the big citys lived practically a normal life. But with more freedom then they had in Old Fighteru,as it was being called. Even the north shore was becoming a bastion of concert and metal. The popuation was now at 2,700,671. With some two hundred thousand other unoffical people in the outer colonies. But this would soon be fixed.
As of 0:300 military time the New Fighter4u government offically axne the "Arm" off the eastern portion of NewFighter4u into its terroity. Also to further expand the control of The Devil Strait. The southern coast of TDS was survey by exporlers and delcared suitable for colonization. Upon that news, tens of thousands of settlers steamed across the strait and began to chop down wood and build settlements. Just like they had in New Fighter4u. But this time they had a army behind them. With nearly eightly thousand relugar infanty protecting the settlers from threats of natives. Who so far had fled the coastline due to all the wicked demons swimming in the strait. This would place them dangerously close to another settlement by a forgein nation. Fighter4u naval units were close at hand to stop any hostile actions.
Mainwhile the Fighter4u Grand Wall was at 41% compeletion. But it was not aa urgently needed as it once was. Now it was merely a fallback. As fighter4u military units adance into the unclaimed terrioty to seek out local natives and enslave them as they prepare to takeover the land from them.
So far the only activites from other various nations on the island has been little to none at all. At this rate, the one million man army on New Fighter4u could steamroll the enemy. The Fighter4u navy expanded the area of its infulence further and futher, until it was nearly the entire body of water between the "Arm" and Royal Code up toard the north until nearly half way along the unclaimed land on it western borader.
Soon, soon they would seek to takeover the entire island and claim ownership to the vast island. And then, maybe even the northern islands.

TRC: I know I made a claim on the SAI, but I have no idea where it is. Can you please clarify/point it out to me?

OOC:Vanteland, you might want to hurry up.My military forces are already about half-way through your terriorty. With my exorplers combing the rest. And the Strait is controled by my naval fleet. If you want your claim. Prepare to fight for it.
IC:The eastern half of what is appearly the colony of Vanteland is being settled by rugged men,and hopeful miners, who along with the military forces within the new land, are establising the might of New Fighter4u to the rest of the island forces. Communtiys are being formed. Roads are traveling inwards to the heart of Vanteland colony and even further west. Some exorplers have even touched the borader of Thomaston. All over, once again tress are being chopped down to make way for helicopters seeking out oil and other various money making projects. And with New Fighter4u right next door. Some four hundred thousand troops were being tranported into the Vanteland colony. With railroads and telephone wires to follow close behind to make the tranportion of supplies to New Vanteland even quicker then before.
The New Devil Strait
A P.R.S.S.F.N battleship cut through the waves,as it scanned the oceans. Intel had suggested that Vanteland forces would soon arrive to claim their land. Unfortantly they were in for a rude surpise.
Northern Seas
A lone scout plane of a oil company that was propecting in the northern ocean to claim the ocean floor before others did. (Even those techinally the area was not under the control of New Fighter4u yet.) Had picked up something werid on it radar. A ship prehaps. Which was funny as no New Fighter4u ships were reported to be in the area.
The co-pliot scanned the sea,as he looked for where the radar contact said the ship was. In the very distance they found the ship. But they did not know what nation it belonged to. As this was very information to know for Dragon Oil. The pliot turned the plane towards the ship and started to fly towards it in a effort to identiy the ship. While the co-pliot radio in to his boss that they were checking out a radar contact at (so and so) location. Over and out.
As this was reported on a public frequency,a P.R.S.S.F.N crusier was ordered to head to that location also. Also two Su-37s were orders to check the ship out.

As dawn broke on that muggy morning, the two thousand men of the 35th Infantry Division stationed on the SAI Royal Territory watched in amazement as the natives decided to hold off their imminent attack yet another day.
Further north, Battle Group Sierra began launching sorties to scout and properly map the newly acquired Royal Territory.
i think part of the problem might be that everyone seems to be moving relatively slowly, days and weeks, and F4U, you are already what would have to be months if not years ahead to lay out cities and infrastructure across hundreds of (nautical) miles. for me, i can partially deal with that—but i do not want to skip over the intricate indigenous-Oceanian relationship that would be most interesting to me.
more to come on early settlement in a later post
HMS Eyas
"Sir, open broadcast—certainly not military."
Commodore Louis Bertrand sighed inwardly. For half an hour one of his Sea Sprite drones had been tracking a small aircraft approaching one of the frigates under his command. Likely it had detected his Type 61 ASW frigate, a large ship near fourteen thousand tonnes whose design featured a large flight deck aft of amidships. Otherwise his small surface group, comprised of his own Type 23, the Type 61, and a stealth Type 22 further east, even nearer the claimed Fighter4u border, was following strict emission control protocols including strict radio silence and switched off radars.
"Sir," Bertrand's executive officer called out, "new contacts."
Just north of the Eyas an RAF Sentinel AEW.1 airborne early warning aircraft operating out of a newly established aerodrome in Oceanian Adreania orbited a space well within the missile envelope of the Type 23 frigate. But perhaps more importantly, the Sentinel was protected by two Sea Stratus multi-role fighters under strict EMCON protocols, just like the Royal Navy warships. The Sea Stratus fighters were in a racetrack pattern at low altitude, making it more difficult for the reduced-RCS fighters to be detected. As the Su-37s emerged over the sea and were detected by the long-range radar of the Sentinel, the data was transmitted via a directional beam in real time to Bertrand. His new contacts.
"Maintain silence," Bertrand finally replied. "But the second we get a whisper that those Berkuts are targeting us—take them out."
"Aye, sir."
In the months since Oceanian forces had begun to settle Adreania, Bertrand—along with other officers and officials—had taken an interest in the blatant militarism of their neighbours. While the Vantanians performed the role of buffer state, the aggressive expansionist policies pushed the Admiralty to station a small patrol force outside Fighter4u maritime territory. Bertrand was not going to allow the Fighter4u fighters to get the first shot.
OOC: Could I get the large island on the new map south of the largest island?
Royal Crown Colony of Oceanian Aldreania
Far to the south of Thomaston, on the southern side of the high mountain range separating the two halves of the Oceanian claim, a company of airborne infantry troops occupied a wooded hilltop near a river that emptied into the sea. Major-General Travis Whiting sat with the company, in a hastily erected tent with a map laid out on the fresh stump of a recently felled tree. Outside, the airborne troops were preparing a small radar installation to monitor the southern skies of the Oceanian colony. Linked to several mobile surface-to-air missile batteries and anti-aircraft-artillery pieces it would suffice until nearby aerodromes were completed to house the first RAF fighters.
Moves by forces in the northeast had prompted Whiting to take greater care of the initial defences of the Oceanian colony. This included his own offensive operations. A brigadier-general entered the tent and met Whiting's gaze, then nodded. "They are ready, sir."
"Very well. Go on Operation Autumn Harvest."
HMS Vinca
"Captain," the communications officer aboard the Royal Navy light carrier handed the captain the printed confirmation of the order. The elder officer nodded and passed along the order to his own subordinates, watching the rotors of the waiting helicopters on the flight deck slowly being to spin. Royal Marines waiting around the flight deck, conversing with comrades and sailors said final farewells and headed with their last pieces of gear towards the waiting Cormorant helicopters.
In minutes, four of them were in the air, while from another light carrier four Kestrel fighters took to the skies as overhead cover. Their destination was the small island between the Ixanian and Oceanian claims. And as the helicopters approached the sandy beaches the flight crews found natives wading in the shallow and calm waters between land and reef. Small wind-powered fishing vessels moored along primitive but still functional docks.
Not fearing for serious resistance, the helicopters flew high for better fuel efficiency—and to enable a better field of view as most radars were shut off to not only prevent the Ixanians from discovering the size of the initial force but also to allay any fears of Oceanian aggression. For at the same moment from other light carriers near the Oceanian coast, helicopters were ferrying Royal Marines to three other islands while strategic cargo aircraft were shipping mobile radar stations and anti-aircraft defenses along with anti-ship missile batteries and coastal artillery.
Some of the islands offered more resistance than others. The two most remote islands, really just small specks, had small populations that were far more pliant towards Oceanian attempts to sign away formal sovereignty. It was all done in exchange for the King's pledge to guarantee the safety and security of said populations. The other islands, only slightly larger, offered more resistance. Natives with firearms fired at landing Oceanians. And the flight from the Vinca suffered nearly half-a-dozen casualties before the Kestrel's rocket pods frightened them into submission.
The northern islands, however, were where the Ministry of Defence kept a particular interest. From the northern-most, the United Kingdom could keep a close eye on Fighter4u movements that might threaten Oceanian interests or the interests of the United Kingdom's friends and allies. Even while Royal Marines were being helicoptered onto the beaches, a cruiser stationed itself beyond the horizon but still keeping the island within the range of its cruise missiles.
Here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/fbcatholicsfan/island_claims.gif) are the four small islands referenced in the above.
