Colderon Island

Colderon sat at his desk at his private residence about 40 miles off the coast of Kornosia, his own private heaven in a constant winter wonderland. The news of new land acquisitions, joint war game trails, and a possible romance that could improve his life drasticly. Colderon signed and swiveled around to look out of a huge window that was formally behind him. The sun shown brightly into Colderons office and study.

Most would be confused as to how a man known for completely leveling nations could even stand to live in a land completely untouched by polution, firearms, or murder. The entire island was build up by hand. The massive mansion that housed Colderon and his second daughter was built entirely by hand by and army of woodcraftmen and Colderon Himself who preformed most of the intricate work himself. Even the pottery that adorned the gallery where made by hand and sonme very rare artifacts where underguard by a clan of assasins Called the Rogutis Agentie.

As Colderon watched out the window he saw a herd of Elk walk throught the snow eating bits of leaves and brush. They seemed so peaceful and never feared for their lives within these lands. Across from him standing in the fall corner of the room was Aegies, Colderons body-guard and Grandmaster of the Rogutis Agentie. Colderon could tell he was most unpleased by being here. As Colderon turned around back to his desk hi8s second daughter Natasha walked into the room and walked around to Colderons back and rubbed her fathers shoulders.

“ You’ve done nothing but work since you got here father. Go outside and see to your horses. Or find me some blackberries. All the others in the kitchen are getting mushy.”she said while laying her head on Colderon shoulder.

Colderon may have been a cold-hearted person, but to his family he was was a warm and strong man, loving and compassionate.Colderon nodded and got up from his desk and gave Aegies an order:

“ Send an invitation to the required people from Pan-Arab Barronia. Tell them where to go so the boats can meet them. Also let them know of the rules for comming.”

Aegies nodded and sent the message.

A slight breeze buffeted the YND-500 as it aimed for the waves. The Amphibious staple of Magisterial Transport, the lack of equipment made it perfect for this trip.

Hitting the water with a mass of spray, the engines slowed to taxiing revs, the pilot headed toward the Highwind, standing rather notably by the dockside.

Gently nudging into the dock, a quick whirring from the engines stills the craft. The face of the sole air hostess appears as as a door slides aside. A woman, dressed in the usual Barronian uniform, steps onto the dock.

A taller, wider man, sporting an eyepatch steps out in a matching uniform. He is shortly followed by two more men - almost looking like military officials in their uniforms, they stand in line, waiting for an officer to approach.

The Captain of the Highwind watched as the duck-plane landed in the Icy waters of the northn Kornosian coast. The rumble of the engines was unmistakable. Walking form the Command deck he walked through the ornate wooden ship towards the ganplank where guest where to board the vessel. As he stepped out he saw the single hostess open the door which allowed a man with an eye patch and two other out. He was amased they could hold up to the extreme cold of the region, many would have been dressed in 3 layers of clothing for this occasion.

The Captain walked out of the door way and down the Gangplank to welcome the guest. As he approached one could see he was an older man, some would say in his late 60's. But he also had the air of experience about him. this ship was his life and he knew every inch of her body like a hiker of the mountain.

The Captain stopped in front of the goup and started to speak;

" From this point on you may not have any kind of non-life vital electronics. No cell phones, beepers, Lighters, Etc.... I hope I make my self clear. Having them will have dire concenquences. Colderon has made his wishes very clear that no electronics may be on his island at any cost. He may the island the way it was with his bare hands. Itss prestine and untainted, so be sure it remains that way. Well.... Welcome to the Highwind. This ship was built by master shipwrights in the Kornosian southern coast. This vessel boasts 200 various rooms, a fully stocked kitchen and wet bar. Our trip will take 3 days. I will announce when dinner and other meals will be provided. "

The Captian pointed his arm toward the Gangplank in a motion that suggested they move aboard the vessel. As they walked in they where to be welcomed by servants who would see that all their needs cared for...

General Strom shivered a little in the bitter cold. Whilst Bolvangar was chilly, it was yet colder here. Their uniforms, whilst woollen for a cold climate, did not quite warm to the extent required.

Whilst Cecilia was slightly better off, being in woollen tights rather than trousers that left room for the cold buffeting wind to shoot up the leg, she still found her extremities immediately reacting to the cold.

The Captain walked out of the door way and down the Gangplank to welcome the guest. As he approached one could see he was an older man, some would say in his late 60's. General Strom, being in overall command of the Barronian delegation, spoke first. The captain showed the experience of a man who might have been born at sea - he looked a skipper, and probably had been one for the majority of his life; maybe not always piloting yachts, but certainly, he was no stranger to the helm.

"Of course, Captain. Hostess? Would you fetch the overcoats for us? It may an understatement when they said it would be Bolvanger-cold!"

When the hostess return, the delegation gratefully put them on, if only to remain out of the cold until they entered the ship. Fortunately, none of them were to go through the embarrassment of admitting they had not read the communiqué; all of their electronics had been left on the plane, which had received a nod from the General and was now taxiing away.

Following the General's lead, they headed up the gangplank and onto the deck of the ship. A door lead them to the servants, who all looked eager to be doing something; they allowed them their coats and awaited directions.

The Captain followed them up into the ships deck. The ships servant crew doing all the required tasks that where handed down to them by the guests. Once on deck the Captain opened the doors to the lower decks and allowed the warm air to rush out and greet the guests with the tempation of warmth and the smell of a feast that awaited them. The smell of fresh food and warm drink filled the air as the doors opened, even the captain mentioned the cheif was first rate. The Captain when down first to give a brief discription of the vessel as he showed each to their rooms.

As they walked down he first made his way to the main assembly area, where a large stone fire place roared on with life and where plush leather chairs lined around the fireplace all with small tables of fine wines avalible to each. Behind the chairs was the main dinning table where a feast had been prepared for the guest. Duck, chicken, Beek, Pork, Fish, no meat had been forgotten and fruit and vegtables made in atleast 4 ways. Each glass that was plaed was made of the finest Lead Crystal was reflected the light from the fire with a shower of rainbow colors. Around the feast stood an army of waiters and holding the feast was a table made of black mahogany and Ivery made from the tusk of fallen elephants. The flooring under the table was made of polar bear fur which is brushed daily.

The Captain took the chair at the head of the table and invited the others to sit.

OOC: Got it. Be on it in a second - got this thread subscribed, so no need to bump.

They embraced the warmth of the boat, handing over their coats to the servants and taking a moment by the fire to return the feeling to their toes. The stone fireplace was a rarity, moreso on a boat. The carpet was like velvet under their feet, almost walking on cushions as they took their seats at the table.

The shoes stifling her feet, Cecilia slipped off her shoes and stretched her toes once sat down. Digging them into the thick carpet, she allowed herself to relax a little.

"So, Captain...this is a rather exemplary vessel you have. Are all of Colderon's ships so luxurious?"

"So, Captain...this is a rather exemplary vessel you have. Are all of Colderon's ships so luxurious?"

The Captain laughed alittle at the question, though he meant no disrespect for his guests. The Captain remembered the first time her ever came aboard any of Colderon Vessels many of the same question rolled through his head as well.the Catian swiftly place old memories out of his mind and answered the guests question...

" Actually... yes. Only one is better then what you see here, and that belong to Colderon himself and no one else is permitted to ride upon it exept family. And the only family he has now is his daughters, Azula and Natasha."

The Captain walked around to the ladies side and waved his hand. After the wave a sevant came and offered to massage her feet with warming oils.

OOC: Do I detect SimCity 4 from that picture of Colderon Island? If not, then what program did you use?

OOCly, what's on the agenda? I may need to conjure up government policy.

The servant appearing at her side, as if by magic, offering to massage her feet rather stumped Cecilia. She was but a secretary, albeit one to arguably the second-most powerful man in Barronia - Conrad Strom.

"Erm...well, if you insist...if you'll excuse me for a minute to remove my hose, I can't imagine you'll want them in the way!"

Conrad chuckled as she left the room, slightly flustered at the new bout of attention.

"She's not used to foot massages and warm oils, you understand. All rather new to her. Dedicated to her job.

To think, Colderon has more beautiful ships than this? Barronia is used to treating her ministers with luxurious goods - penthouse grace-and-favour apartments in the heart of New Misenae, that sort of thing - but certainly, a vessel of this scale hasn't even been considered by Her Majesty for herself, let alone a minister!"

He scanned the table, taking in the myriad of foods and flavours, before settling on an old favourite - the veal.

OOC: An agenda... Well to be straight forward . Colderon is going to offer Pan-Arab Barronia a deal. This deal will be profitable for PAB... very profitable. Colderon is looking for land. this land it to be used for one thing and one thing only... the refinment of an element used by his bodyguards Assassin Clan. Its called Saberanium. Its called such becasue it is used in the construction of their famously sharpe blades that seem to never dull or break. I will reveal more in the meeting.

Also the program is call World Builder

IC:
The Captain nodded at the mans mention of the Grandure of the employers vessels. It was something he never got over, a pride in his vessel, and to hear praise of its beauty only boosted his confidence in himself as a Captain.

" I understand her flustered emotion. Most are taken by the avalible luxury that is offered in this vessel." Said the Captain as he watch Conrad settle down to eat some food.

"Ah.. the Veal is exellent. As a matter of fact the claves are grown by Colderons Personel farm Island about 500 feet from his Residence Island. completely homone free and butchered daily to ensure freshness. But my personel favorite is the Snow Byson. No finer meat in all the land I say. "

The Captian took a sip of wine before speaking again...

" Ah.. I best by off the the top deck. my Assistant navigator is new and hasn't learned the sea yet. "

The Captian took another sip and walked out of the room. Leaving the guest alone with the servant crew. Many of the Servants stood unmoved unless needed or where simply in the way. The ships First mate came below to ensure the guest where taken care of.

" My name is Joseph Armorov, First mate of the Highwind. When you are ready I will take you to your rooms."

Ah, I see. Well, chances are you'll be easily welcomed in. Svalbard Island is remote, but is out of bounds as it is controlled by the MoD, but I daresay the northern coast of Aleppo is easy pickings. Map (http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc61/LordBelacqua/NationStates/Imperial%20Barronia/Maps/MapUp.png)

As for Worldbuilder...I think I just felt my wallet tremble.

Conrad caught the slight nod as he mentioned the vessel. Despite knowingly feeding the man's ego, he wasn't telling a lie - the vessel was by far and away the most luxurious vehicle he had ever been on, and he was sorry to be spending only 3 days aboard her.

"Taken aback appears to be a slight understatement in Cecilia's case," Conrad explained. "She usually takes residence in the State Rooms, which are more utilitarian than luxurious. She turned down the grace-and-favour apartment offered to her, which was strange to say the least. Suffice to say, she appreciate luxury when she gets it!

"The veal is excellent sir, my compliments to your chef. Just perfect. You wouldn't mind me smuggling them out to replace my own, would you?"

He winked with his remaining eye to show that he was joking. Taking a glass of the red, he sampled in a manner suggesting a man who had been on a great many wine-tasting trips (often courtesy of the taxpayer), before taking a fuller sip and signifying his approval.

"However, sir, I leave you to your duty. I tend to like to take a wander in the evening; as a keen sailor, would it be terribly rude if I invited myself on-deck? I'd certainly like to see your men at work; who knows, maybe I could take something away with me for Nautical Service to consider!"

Cecilia entered as the Captain stood to leave. She turned and curtseyed, as was the Barronian tradition, before taking her seat (Conrad, George and Donald having stood when she entered - another Barronian tradition) and allowing the servant to go to work on her feet, the occasional gasp of pleasure escaping her.

Having received Armorov's introduction, Donald laid his fork and knife down.

"Perhaps, as my compatriots are rather occupied," he started, giving a pointed look Cecilia, who looked to be in a rather incapacitated state owing to the massage "Perhaps, it would be alright if I were given a small tour of the ship? I would hazard a guess that they will be ready to retire to their berths once we've returned."

The old Captain turned after hearing the request of the guest to be allowed on deck. Knowing how cold it can be aboard the the deck of the vessel and the potential hazards of being on board the deck most people tend to avoid the deck at all times, but the Capitan was intrigued by this guests request and swiftly returned to offer the tour of the top deck personally....

" Mr. Conrad.... if you would like to tour the top deck I would be honored to show it to you myself. And if any of your compatriots would like to attend the tour they are more then welcome... also be sure to grab your coat before you head up."

The Captain then turned around and took a path to the top deck where he would begin barking orders to the crew. As the Capitan took to the top deck he took his place at the helm of the vessel and looked out onto the deck of the magnificent vessel. The numerous crew running about pulling on ropes and doing miscellaneous tasks. The Navigator was charting the course via an old map which seemed to be close to a couple of hundred years old.

The wheel which controlled the vessel was built of the purest Gold and silver parts and en-crested with fine jewels and the pegs in which the Captain held where made of black maple. The Captain awaited Conrads arrival to the top Deck.

Conrad made his way across the deck, coat drawn tightly around him. The cold would have been unbearable were it not for the time spent in Bolvanger's extensive military complex. Even despite his time in the cold, adapting to the temperature on deck was not easy, and chillblanes were an annoying inevitability once he reached the deck.

Knocking primly on the door, he awaited the captain's invitation.

The Captain motioned for the door to be opened, as he looked out on to the roaring sea ahead. The Captain was always careful not to let the waves get the best of him as they could be quite rough at times on the journey to the Island.

The wind howled violently as the ship rocked back and forth. The Captain held her at bay. The crewmen went to the cabins dorrs and quickly opened it so that Conrads could get out of the extreme cold and in to a chill, a vast imporvment from the bitter cold outside by far.

The Captain handed the wheel over to his first mate who seemed to be as old as the Captian himself, but handeled the vessel fine. The Captain walked over and welcomed Conrad to the Helm of the vessel, and took him to the wheel where the First mate was commanding the vessel.

" You know Conrad I bet you have no idea how far we are from his Island do you?" Asked the Captain, knowing good and well he didn't but it was always fun to ask.

The Captain took him over to the window where the island was now visible.

Conrad stepped inside the bridge, the warmth immediately sending his hands red and itchy. Ignoring the urge to scratch for now, he looked around as he adjusted to the warmth. The first thing that struck him was the wheel. Jewel-encrusted, and made of a dark maple, the wheel was obviously a custom-made piece of equipment and designed to be shown off.

"So, Captain, do tell me more about the wheel! It's a fine piece of craftsmanship, to be sure."

Stepping over to the window with the captain, he was astounded to find the island so close.

"By Mary! Evidently your sailors are among the best, sir, for I've never seen such distance covered so quickly. My hat is off to them, most certainly."

Standing by the captain, he felt a heaving as the winds pulled the ship forward. The captain's face was lit up as he handled the vessel through the wind. Conrad decided to look from the windows, admiring the looming hulk of the island.

The Captian smiled as Conrad looked through the lead crystal windows at the island ahead of them. It was a truely magnifficent sight to behold as the island was surrounded by large mountains which protected it from wondering eyes. The ships wooden exterior which was now quite coated with a layer of ice glissened gentelly in the soft light of the sun, sending small rays of sun light back up into the bridge where the captain and Conrad where at. The captain then started to tell him about the wheel itself...

" Ah... the Wheel of the Magistics... It was created close to 20 years ago, by Colderon himself after he completed his carpenters classes. So he placed it on this ship to remain alive and well maintained."

Below the decks where the other guests where staying, a lone deck hand came into the rooms and told each guest that only one day remained for their long voyage. A welcomed sound to anyones ears... even the deck hands.

"Not bad work, I must say...and the gems are outstanding! Where were they mined?"

Strom was in awe of the wheel - though gaudy in a fashion, and far removed from the demure, conservative Barronian designs he was used to, the amount the wheel would have cost to produce - and, indeed, maintain - was probably not much short of the ship.

In their cabins, the other staff returned to their sleep - this would possibly be their last until they met with Colderon, and they were determined to enjoy it, falling asleep to the scenes of the island passing by their portholes.

The Captain pondered on the question of where the gems where mined. He had never really put much thought into the matter as no one really ever asked. But as he pondered he looked around his books and plotted a course to guide around the island so they could approach the only inlet without hitting the rocks that surrounded the islands outer rim.

" I must apologize I am not sure as to where the gems where mined. But I will ask to find out for you. If you like you may go below and get some rest we will be making landfall by early morning." the Captain called out from his corner of the bridge....
