Not really, other than you have to be active and realistic with how you manage your nation. In order to make a claim, you must visit the forums and make it there, however.

I would like to claim Ghana. If that is not available then i would like to claim Iraq. Then if none of those are available then could i have Mexico?

@ Daiwiz: As the UK is claimed, Wales is also. Try something else; there's tons left to claim.

@ East Laos: Only Iraq is claimed. Mexico and Ghana are both available. However, the problem with Ghana is that it was played before by e member whom has since switched his claim. According to the rules of 21c, you would have to RP picking up where the previous player left off. Now, that may not be a big deal to you, but if you're looking to start 100% fresh, then Mexico would be your best bet, but there are also lots and lots of others.

Is Colombia available? If not how about Nigeria? And if that isn't then how about North Korea?

Actually i would like to claim Ukraine. If not that then Slovakia and if none of those then Romania.

Colombia is available, as is Nigeria. North Korea is claimed and active.

Ukraine and Slovakia are both taken. However, Romania is not. But, like Ghana, Romania was RPed before, so you'd have to pick up where the former Romania left off.

I'd suggest Nigeria, Colombia, or Mexico, but it would depend on what kind of RPing you'd like to do. Mexico would give you more political and diplomatic prowess, while Colombia has a decent military. Nigeria would see more internal affairs and such, and might make interesting RPs.

Thanks! Does the factbook have to be like the real one of the country? Or can we make a new one of like a made up population and military and stuff. Or does it have to be like the real one?

21c puts a real emphasis on realism, so yes, it has to be all RL stats. however, you have a bit of freedom because it's 2013 in the game, so whatever has happened in the last 5 years can be included in the factbook. But remember to declare any changes you wish to make in the Goals/Objectives thread.

For example, if Nigeria, IRL, was supposed to be acquiring new military equipment in 2011, for example, you can include that stuff. If they are scheduled to hold elections in 2012, you can tell us the results and take it from there. Luckily, joining late, you have 5 years of history to toy with. Basically, as long as it's realistic, anything goes.

On the first post, I have added a full list of unclaimed nations, for future reference and people wishing to sign up but aren't sure what's taken.

Thanks. I was thinking that they will be starting to toy around with nuclear weapons. Because when I was in Nigeria for vacation they mentioned how they were trying to get funding for a nuclear weapons program. And also they said in the near future they were starting a space program within the next 3 years.

Germany, Spain and Israel are the most desirable (and powerful) claims left. This is a great, always active RP good for people who enjoy real-world politics and diplomacy. It is not that strict either though strict enough (for example, I turned Japan into a Socialist state after a fair bit of RPing, but I wouldn't be able to just add $500bn to my defence budget).

So what does the game fousc on? War/conquest or just ecomionic might? What do most RPs center around? And how much of a nation history or capaitlabitles do you need to know to effectly RP a nation?

The game focuses on a mixture of economics and war, war being a last resort should everything, and I mean everything, fail. You really need to know your country policy in order to RP realistically on 21c. If you don't, then, as they say, "gtfo n00b" or something like that. Dang youngin's of today.

@ Beldentia: Good question. 21c is generally very welcome of new Rpers if they are of reasonable quality. While 21c, like most quality Rps, frown upon atrocious Rping, we're not a predatory bunch, and most players are welcoming to new players as long as they're relatively active and can write a halfway-decent RP. We wouldn't be so large and active if we weren't welcoming of new Rpers ;-)

@Fighter4u: Another good question. 21c focuses on all aspects of nations simulation, meaning that we focus on both economics and military issues, as well as a host of other issues that any given nation faces every day. While all-out war is rare on 21c, it is not because war is frowned upon or not welcomed, but because war, like in real life, is not the focus of a nation's direction. 21c generally focuses on diplomacy and international politics, as well as heavily accents internal affairs, but we encourage Rpers to focus on whatever they are most familiar with and whatever the nation is in most need of focus. Much like real life :-)
As far as knowledge of your nation: I currently play France. When I started, I knew very little outside of what your average person knew about France, and I find learning about the nations you play to be one of the most valuable parts of playing a modern-era nation sim. So no, strictly speaking, it does not require you to "specialize" in the nation you play, but it requires you to have a general knowledge of the nation and it's diplomatic policies and internal affairs, and plenty of room to grow into if you're not too familiar with your nation.

I see,thank you for your answers. Their one last question I need to ask before I decide weather I may join when I sure I can be commited and that is the nation buget. How much hands on math do the players need to know in order to locate their nation funds to various projects/departments etc.? And if I not sure of weather I could do such a thing,should I not RP on this site?
