"For warmth to envelope you, you must first walk through the cold and it's light."

These are the beginnings of a new dawn, a new era, a new country.

Cold Light had been part of a kingdom, the Kingdom of Lizantra, which for thousands of years had held control of the lands. However it's power was weakening and so it was steadily letting it's kingdom go, for each area to make its own way in the world. Cold Light was one of those places, a place that had wanted independence for so long but did not fight for it, instead choosing to wait patiently. It had paid off.

"My fellow Cold Light citizens. We are free. Our home is now a young nation, ready to embark on a new journey. This journey will be a new one for all of us and we will take it slowly, slowly gaining respect form more established nations. How is that?", said Nathan Mathers,the first Cold Light president, turning to his wife, looking over his speech notes again.

"That was fine.", said Bridget smiling. "The crowd will love it and love you for it. You were the one that brokered the deal that gained Cold Light's independence."

"Not entirely true. Lizantra is losing power, due to internal family strifes. They felt is necessary to get rid of some of it's lands to ease the pressure. However they can never claim Cold Light as one of their lands ever again.", replied Nathan.

Both were in their early 30's, and some had said Nathan would be too young to lead the nation. However he had history in politics, becoming the youngest member of the old Lizantra Parliament at the age of 21. He was deemed to lead the country by the Cold Light people in the election which he won by a landslide.

"I also need to send this message to every leader of the world. I hope they recognise our independence." said Nathan.



Greetings Leaders of the World,

I am Nathan Mathers, President of Cold Light. Cold Light had recently gained its independence from the Kingdom of Lizantra. We wish to extend our hand in friendship to you. We hope you accept.

The Ixanian Empire wishes to announce that it shall not only recognize the nation of Cold Light as an independent nation with all of the privileges, etc bestowed upon such nations but that it wishes to establish full diplomatic relations with Cold Light.

Celebrations were underway around the country, as people took to the streets to officially become citizens of the country of Cold Light. Meanwhile President Mathers was in his office and saw a message come up on screen. It was a reply from The Ixanian Empire. He read through it.

"Our first diplomatic response. Great news.", he said smiling. He then typed a reply.



To Ivan Rucinsky and The Ixanian Empire,

I am delighted that you have recognised us. I, on behalf of Cold Light, am happy to open diplomatic relations with you and your people. I invite yu or a representative of your Empire to visit our lands where celebrations will continue for many months.
