The microphone cracked on the cool winter day as the brisk wind swept gusts of snow across the crowd. Red Flags wove side to side, and shouts of joy muted the speakers. Each one came in succession, delivering a testament to the triumphant working class of Izhevskia. The heroes of the revolution, in their military uniforms of rag-tag everyday clothes, fired shots of joy into the air, the signature sound of the AK-47 symphonic to the revolutionary ears. Red tracers marked a patchwork of lines in the sky, and jet trails from the Su-27s turned the event into one magical moment of the triumph of the proletariat, of the strength of the fist of revolution.
But the havoc and ruckus came to an end the Moment Vladimir Pyetrochev came to the stand, under the flying banners of Marx, of Engels, of Lenin and of Trotsky, behind the red bunting that marked the stage, contrasting the wet snow that fell over the streets of Trotskograd. For the workers, the voice of this man brought back bittersweet memories, of the blood that spilled in the Revolution, but, too, of the commands that echoed over the voice of the dropping bomblets, the roaring gunfire, and the grenade blasts. He began to speak.
"Comrades of Izhevskia,
"Today, as we stand in this humble street, as we celebrate the joyous occasion of the triumphant revolution, history, the history of class struggle, is being written.
"We are entering an epoch marked by community and solidarity, an epoch of labour and of unity. We are delivering the deathblow to the old forces of exploitation. We have emancipated not just ourselves but the whole world! Our voices ring through the radios and the televisions of the world's working class. The images of our faces print in the newspapers and the computer screens of every toiler, every exploited labourer.
"Our triumphs cannot be denied. We have defeated a menace, freed a people, and fulfilled the destiny of a society. But we cannot allow ourselves to be plagued by the diseases of impatience and pessimism. To paraphrase the great working class hero Trotsky;
"'Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope! thunders the twenty-first century in salvos of fire and in the rumbling of guns. Surrender, you pathetic dreamer. Here I am, your long awaited twenty-first century, your ‘future.’' No, replies the unhumbled optimist: You, you are only the present.'
"We must defy pessimism at its root. We are set to enter an age where we, the workers, can taste the fruits of our labor. We must not be offset by labour. We must enter an age of selflessness, but an age of seeing self in the community. Marx said that a man is born not with a mirror nor a philosophical sense of self. He is born seeing himself in the community. So too, must we see ourselves in our community. Not just our nation, but our nation in the world!
"We so call upon the working class of the world to revolt! We embrace you with open arms, and hope that you will do the same. Workers of the World, Unite!"

To whom it may concern,
indentA lot has been done in the name of "the people". Wars have been fought. Men have been killed. Innocent lives have been lost for the fight of "the people". Thus, it is with a sad heart I see another nation torn by this never-ending war, ripped asunder in the name of "the people" and communism. While no doubt noble in his mind, General Secretary Pyetrochev's war was ignoble in all sense of action, for in such he damaged a peaceful republic beyond repair. A democracy, a nation of freedom, has been turned into a dictatorship in the name of the people, and by that alone do the people have will. Tyranny in the name of the people and in the name of communism- a noble political ideal in its own right destroyed by those who would misuse it- is no better then tyranny out in the open.
indentWe shall feel no need to take action in this matter. If it is in the choice of the people to be ruled by a despot, then that shall be there choice. But, be forewarned- ignoble deeds by this new republic shall be looked upon most sourly in our eyes.
Respectfully yours,

To whom it may concern,
The Ixanian Empire has, for centuries, been an absolute monarchy but yet we are willing to bypass our ideological differences, that is, our differences in terms of how our governments are organized, to establish full diplomatic relations with Izhevskia in the hopes that our two nations may not squabble over who is what but that we rather build a solid friendship on firm foundations and we hope that the government of Izhevskia is fully willing to establish such a friendship between our nations. We look forward to further correspondence between our nations in the future.
Signed,
Ivan Rucinsky,
Foreign Minister

Prime Minister, we, the people of Izhevskia, are appalled by the deeply insulting comments you have made towards us. You claim to exist in the name of democracy, yet you decry the firm voice of the people! The sacrifice of the Izhevskian proletariat is undeniable, yet you claim that we are in some vague, twisted, arbitrary sense of the word, "tyrannical." This is not just an insult to the Izhevskian workers, but to the Faxanavian workers as well. The bourgeois of your regime are the worst sort: you oppress and exploit them incessantly for profit. Workers of the World, Unite against this insulting imperialism!

The stereo hissed into oblivion, passions thrall held sway but for a second before it was overcome by dust and shadows; drizzle struck the cracked skylight sending a sliver of liquid to meet the forlorn pile of musted tomes below. It was difficult to believe that the Prime Minister could live in a place such as this, but things were not as they once were, the nation was dying, the economy staggering to a laboured halt, as out in the streets the masses bleeted for change. That voice though, it represented hope, a Left-Wing menace might just save him at the looming elections. His arthritic hand fumbled for the phone.
Official Communiqué
The venerable nation of GrimWolf formally requests that the fledgling government of Izhevskia make its national and international intentions clear. Recent turmoil in your State has prompted our interest.
Prime Minister, Alexander Lichtenstein

OoC: Firstly, I wouldn't have posted, I'm not a very good writer at the best of times, and I haven't done anything in months. Plus, I'm in the middle of exams. But a first post as good as yours deserves a reply, and as nobody has thus far responded, I figured I should. Edit: True at time of writing.
Any idea what direction you want the roleplay to take?

Dear sir,
indentAs I have said, in the name of the people is not by the people. Your attempt at making it seem as though the choice to die was made by each soldier fighting for you is ridiculous at best. it has been proven time and again that those who would hold a "revolution" for "the people" have no interest but their own.

The Conservative Party of Faxanavia Official Message
May I be the first to say I am shocked at the words of our Prime Minister. As the leading candidate in this election, let me be the first to assure you- not all Faxanavians feel as our Prime Minister does. His vitriolic words towards you and your nation are inexcusable, and upon reading his letter (released into the national archives database yesterday) I was offended at his words. Rest assured, I am quite glad to hear of Izhevskia's arrival on the international stage, and should I be elected Prime Minister in in this election (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=556975) I shall seek to insure our nation holds no grudge against yours.
Respectfully yours,
Garret Linsares
TO: The government of Izhevskia
FROM: Jankoa Instiin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, UDFB
We wish to congradulate you on becoming a communist nation. While The UDFB is not itself communist, but we do hold some communist ideals and we support communist counries. We may not neccesarily agree with the violent overthrow of your previous government or the ending of your leaders speach were it asked the working class to revolt (which we consider overthrowing some democratic nations such as the UDFB), we wish to aid your country in the rebuilding process, that always follows revolutions or civil wars, and hopefully, in time, The UDFB and Izhevskia can become allies.
