Dear World,

I am Dominic--Dominic Vaerainos Anairod. Please glance over this: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=557284

That should give you a bit of information about us. Remember, we are anxious to step up to the world stage. One of the first steps to doing so is a factbook, we think. However, due to various reasons, we cannot output a real, good factbook for a while.

Therefore, we plead for help in this unconventional factbook.

Ask us questions and we shall answer: for a time, this can be our factbook.

Please, ask us questions--to help us and out of your own curiousity. They may be about what we plan to do, or facts about our nation. They may be about anything, in fact. If you wish, you may attempt to sell us things.

Ask as many as you like--the more; the better.

We hope, also, that some of you experienced politicians can give us some suggestions on what to do.

We hope that this thread will be the start of diplomatic relations with many of you.

First questions are from Conserative Morality, President McDermott, and I will be happy to answer them. Before we answer these questions, remember that there is the continent of Andar, and a few countries on it. Mine is Azemica, a newer one, which still belongs to the Imperium in some ceremony but is autonomous ((OOC: Think Canada and the Commonwealth)). Azemica has been made to represent all of Andar.

1. How did you escape detection from every nation in the world until recently?
We aren't quite sure yet, actually. Only fairly recently have we discovered that you existed, and our ships, when trying to return to Andar, had trouble finding the way. It is beyond our technology, that's for sure.

2. Have you estableshed an embessy yet?
No. We hope to soon.

3. What economic and poolitical system do you currently operate under?
Azemica is a totally free market that has a lot of political power, and a constitutional imperial state.

4.We know you have a prince, but is he mainly cerimonial? Or does he have actual power?
The imperial family is mainly ceremonial, now, yes. In various countries, they have varying degrees of actual power, all very, very small.

5. Are reporters allowed in your nation?
Azemica is so free that your reporters will probably be shocked when they enter!

Unofficial Communique to Zwangzug:

Hello, the Office of Diplomacy's very busy right now, so I'll answer your questions unofficially. Sorry if you're offended.

-What limitations, if any, exist on individual expression in Azemica? What about immigration or emigration? Religious belief or practice?
Most migrants or visitors from other countries would be utterly shocked by the freedom in Andrail, Azemica's neighboring country and parent country. Citizens are allowed to do near anything! The best way to describe Azemica, then, would be to note that in many cases their is even more freedom in Azemica than Andrail but in others less! This legislation has been directly voted in by the people. However, recently it has started to go all out freedom. In anticipation of an influx of international attention, immigration, and tourism, the government's open letter to the people last month stated the emphasis on more freedom in the areas we are lacking.

The areas you mentioned of individual expression, and religious practice and belief, though, are some of our 'extremely free' parts. Re immigration and emigration: until about three weeks ago, the immigration and emigration policy was laughably free and unregulated. However, we are now in a VERY TEMPORARY stage of closed borders, to the outside world and even amongst the countries of Andar. This is so we can provide information to the world and our citizens first, and for other reasons not mentioned. A note: maps and a conventional factbook will soon be available.

-Can you go into more detail about the system of government? How would the average citizen be involved in the political process?
The average citizen wouldn't be involved very much for the reason that no-one is. The government is ridiculously small and shrinking. Almost everything is privatised, and the government focuses basically solely on Defense and the military, Law & Order, and recently, education. (note: the education system is private, but grants come from the government to each child, to go to whatever school they do) The main focus of the government is actually Diplomatic Relations, as the focus of the entire STATE is Diplomatic Relations! However, what there is of a political process, each citizen is heavily involved.

-How extensive or powerful is your military?
On the rise. Much of our population was wiped out by a plague 150 years ago. Also, considering that we revealed ourselves to the world just recently, we have no power within the wider world.
-Are you a spacefaring state? What technologies do you employ?
((OOC: this is MT....)) We in Azemica are VERY interested in the space program! Imagine the possibilities of interplanetary settlement and interstellar travel. While this remains far in the future for the Earth, we pour significant amounts of our military and Defense budgets and private and government research into space research.

-What fields, if any (for example, education or health care) are run by the state?
Run by it? Trying to think... police & military, that's pretty much all.

-What climates are prevalent in Azemica? Throughout the Andar continent?
Map coming soon. Suffice to say that we have a beautiful environment here, but are facing hard and dire choices for the future as our industry expands.
