Nabimba's Glory (Open, MT)
((OOC: If you want more info, you can see my factbook. I am also looking for a nation that used to own Nabimba, as a colony. A few other nations can come in as well.))
Johnathan Katubo sat in a small, damp, hotel room. The walls were filled with cracks, rust, and bullet holes. john was about 35 years old, and wearing a stained white shirt. The stains looked like blood. He was just packing his things when his cell phone rang.
"whatisyournameandnationality?" The voice replied. It was a very heavy voice, with a clear west-african accent. Though Johnathan could speak better English, he decided to use the accent of most Nabimbans.
"I'msorry? Idonotunderstand?"
The man on the other end of the phone now got angry, and he yelled into the phone terribly loud "IFYOUAREJOHNATHANKATUBO,YOUMUSTCOMETOMEIMMIEDIATELY!"
John turned off his phone. He hurredly packed his bags, and prepared to get out of the place. Damn, they're after me John thought. Knocks went on the door, and the voice from the phone also came from the other side of that wall. Where's my gun...Where thehellis my gun...
"OPENTHEDOORIMMIEDIATLYIFYOUWANTTOLIVE!"
John found his gun, and shot 8 rounds into the door. Screams were heard. Even so, the leader voice was still there. "THATISIT! NOWYOUWILLDIE!. He broke down the door, now John saw the face of the voice. He was very tall, about 6ft 9 inches, and had muscles like boulders. He was dark-skinned, like most of Nabimbans. The man had a shaved head, with a green beret on top. His uniform was also green, but with a few ribbons on this left chest, showing a high-ranking.
It was the last thing Johnathan Katubo saw.
"SEARCHHISBAGS!"
THe 10 or so soldiers still remaining under the mans leadership did as they were ordered. One soldier found papers in a suitcase.
"Sir,Ifoundhispapers.HeisaNorthNabimbanspy!"
-----
Scenes like this were common in Nabimba, and after finding 15 spys, the 'president' of Nabimba became paranoid, or more paranoid as usual. He killed the captain in charge of the raid, for showing him the dead body. The president had ruled the war-torn nation for 35 years, but he had little true control of the nation. Most of the populated parts of the nation were occupied by rebel groups, specifically the People's Socialist Rebellion, and the Free Nabimban Liberationists. The president decided to act, and sent a letter to the nations of the world.
-----
TO: The world
My nation, Nabimba, is in great turmoil. Wars have been started against the government, my great and fair government, and civil war has been raging ever since we split from our colonial powers. Very few would know, for we have been isolated from the world since that time. But now, I need help. Two nations have officially declared independance, and many more may split away, or take over my just government itself! I ask you for help, and to destroy my enemies, for only then will Nabimba and it's neighboring nations can be safe again.
((OOC2: basically, this is a little intro to my nation. anyone can join, though i have heard that some people here can be annoying.))

OOC: Anglia will have owned Nabimba as a colony before granting independence. It will not intervene right now but will keep a close eye on developments and hope for the safety of any Anglians within Nabimba; should any be in its borders.
From: Bt. (Baronet) Anthony Thornton, the Foreign Minister of the Queendom of Anglia
To: The President of Nabimba
It has been saddening to see the developments in our former colony take place with so much chaos and bloodshed consuming the land and the souls who inhabit it. While we shall not intervene in this conflict as we hope for the establishment of a solid peace through diplomatic means, we shall ask that all and any Anglian found in Nabimba should have their human rights respected and that they, if are not liked by the Nabimban people, be sent to our nation where they shall be able to make a new life without loss of life or limb. We hope that peace soon comes to your nation, sir.

Any Anglian citizen found within the nation of Nabimba will be asked to be sent back to Anglia. We will ask the neighboring nations of North Nabimba and Ba'an, which also were your colonies, to send your citizens back as well, as the war has expanded to their nations. However, one thing concerns me.
A few Anglian missionaries have ventured deep into the jungle, and set up neutral field hospitals, for members of all factions, and citizens as well. Many of these field hospitals are within enemy territory, and are hard to reach. The Nabimban government will do their best, and even issue a temporary cease-fire if possible, to get these Anglian missionaries back to safety. If that is not possible, I am afraid that there is nothing we can do for them. If you have an idea, please contact us.

"Mr. President we have a dilemma!" The courier ran in and handed a paper to President McDermott. "It's a history of Nabimba ever since the 'president' of Nabimba came into power." McDermotts brow furrowed as he read the paper."How did we get this information?" He turned slowly to the courier. "Our intelligence system is still up Mr. President. We fear that the spy there is in grave. Danger." McDermott sighed. "Recall him, we can't risk losing anyone. We CAN'T act on this until we have procured a sufficent excuse, having spies in someone else's country is NEVER a good relations starter. Send Matthew, maybe he'll be able to trick their 'president' into a slip of the tongue, showing what he's really been doing." McDermott looked at the courier as if to 'what are you waiting for? Go!' The courier quickly bowed. "Yes sir." And quickly ran off.

From: Major Jean-Pierre Theriault, Royal Territorial Army
The Foreign Ministries Office has granted me exclusive permission to contact your government at this hectic time. I have been told by some of the top Army brass that if i push the papers just right, I can have one, two, maybe even three airborne divisions, about sixty thousand men in all, inserted into your country to help fight for your cause. Our nation has a long history of backing up legitimate players in diplomatic brawls. Our only request is that we be awarded contracts after the war to help rebuild. If your government should approve of us sending troops to help, and we end up needing more men, the vote will go to parliament, and we could have an entire Army Corps, almost 700,000 men, on-station within the month.
Please take into consideration my offer. It was not easy to acquire the rights to get this telegram sent out.

From: Bt. Anthony Thornton, Foreign Minister of Her Majesty's Government in the Queendom of Anglia
It is the hope that all Anglians can be safe from any sort of harm and abuse and that they be either sent to us in Anglia or be allowed to live their lives in peace in Nabimba. As for the matter of the missionaries, it is important that their safety is assured and thus I suggest that we arrange for a cease-fire or at least some sort of rescue attempt. We do not want to see the shedding of innocent foreign blood in this conflict of yours and we hope peace can soon establish itself in your nation. I look forward to hearing any ideas you may have concerning the missionaries.

"Ajumba', get back! Get back!"
The man said no more; he was shot be a stray bullet, and hit the ground.
Military forces were retreating to the south-east of the city as the People's Rebellion Army continued to attack, killing all in their path. They were headed towards one place, the presidential palace. Their mission, to destroy the Nabimban government and put the Socialist regieme in place.
They showed no mercy as their trucks, with a machine gun fitted on the back, shot any moving thing without a Hammer and Sickle on it.
An innocent man, just minutes earlier, was selling sugarcane on the side of the street. Now he was on his knees, surrounded by Socialist Forces and dead bodies. "Please, please don't hurt me! My family..." The soldier shot him, and dragged him to the pile of dead bodies.
Now, the rebels looked at the river, with the one bridge that would get them to the Palace. A man got his binoculars, and peeked at the other side. He saw government soldiers with explosives, and they were about to blow up the bridge. He looked further up the river, and saw houses barricaded with planks of wood, with machine guns barely fitting in-between. Now, he told the general of the Rebels. "Sir, They have rigged the bridge with explosives! Dont let the trucks - " But is was too late. Hundreds of Socialist forces were either blown up, or drowned, and the survivors were picked off by Government snipers.
The war for Nabimba was at a stalemate. The Rebels would fave to find another way to the President.

This was getting out of control real fast. Aimless von Strangaild had been keeping an eye on the Nabimba conflict for some time and had expected it to be settled and over with by now but now it seemed he was going to have to send forces to the country and help stop the flowe of blood.
Yet to end this they had to ally with one of the three faction. The communists where not an option on the table. The other two seemed promising. The supposed legitmate goverment looked frail and weak, while the Liberation group had not made many headlines.
A few hours later, Aimless had just finish a recording a transmission to the Free Nabimban Liberation Republic. He saw them as the best choice. They haden't made much of an impact, which was good. The other two factions would be blind sided when they and Zackarothian forces destoryed there ranks.
ENCODED TRANSMISSION TO THE Free Nabimban Liberation Republic CONTROLLED AREAS:
The nation of Zackaroth is willing to help fight for cause. We have seen the Communists butcher and kill innocent people and the so called legitmate goverment fail to contain peace. We hope this transmission gets through and that you are able to contact us with your answer. Aimless von Strangaild, over and out.

Layatreb Air Base, Layatreb City
The F-14Es were continuing their flight demonstration, performing acrobatic techniques earlier variants had only dreamed of. Sitting among the dignitaries, the Premier of the Commonwealth cheered them on. A former naval aviator, he was envious of the young men and women who now represented their country at the invitational Fleet Week. He was busily scanning the skies, commenting to his NSA and former wingman, Samantha Lexi, when an attache appeared at his side.
"Comrade-Premier," the young man said, "There's been a development."
"What kind of development?" The Premier asked, turning away from the view.
"The latest LAN-SAT photographs of Nabimba," the attache answered. "This shows rebel forces entering government areas here, and this is-"
"I get the picture..." the Premier cut him off. "Assemble our party, we'll meet on NAOC," the Premier said, nodding to the FSO agents to lead the way.
National Aerial Operations Command (NAOC)
A retrofitted Air Bus, NAOC served as a command nerve center as well as Air Force One, the entire Commonwealth able to be run onboard the plane. Commonwealth Marines snapped to attention as the Premier and the rest of the dignitary party-including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-made their way into the aircraft. The Marines followed after, closing the hatch with the familiar hammer and sickle. At the Situation Desk, the matter was already heated.
"We can't extend military forces without proper cause," decried the Chief of the Air Defense Force as he appeared on a wall projection screen.
"Thirty-five years of civil unrest isn't enough of a cause," Lexi countered.
"It's not that simple, there are diplomatic concerns as well," the Secretary of State said from his own screen.
"If we could," the Premier turned to the General of the Ground Defense Forces, "How soon could we have forces on the ground?"
"Closest ground assets would be the 3rd MEU from the Fog of War and Lord Nelson," the General answered. "A DEF (Defense Expeditionary Force) could be mobilized and on the ground within two days. The DEF consists of an army division, an armored battalion and an air cavalry unit. The Boudicca Battle Group could provide air support, the escort carrier Ray of Light adds close to 50% more aircraft for air operations. They would then be supported by CADF forces once they were given clearance to operate from a host airfield."
"And other ships in the Battle Group?"
"A Concordia-class battleship, several cruise missile cruisers, three frigates, five destroyers, support vessels, and even a cruise missile submarine," answered the CNO.
"Have the forces prepare for deployment," the Premier said, "We must handle this delicately."

Official Communique of the Commonwealth of Free United States
It has come to the attention of the Commonwealth that civil unrest has eroded lawful order within the nation of Nabimba. While the atrocious actions of the rebel factions cannot be contested, the actions of the ruling government have also helped in producing an unstable environment within the country. The Defense Directorate is currently in session deciding whether or not to send in GDA troops to Nabimba for the purpose of restoring law and order. The Commonwealth is not in support of the People's Rebellion Army and will enter only to promote democracy and legitimate governance to the nation. We seek allies in restoring the country to a safe and prosperous nation.

Anatoli Ganadiev hit the off button on the remote. Another small nation was tearing itself apart on live television for all the world to see. The Director of Imperial Intelligence set the remote on the desk and leaned back, scratching his beard. Truth be told, he was interested by the reports of the Nabimban civil war. Generian involvement in Africa had ended decades ago, following the bloody war in Generian Mozambique.
He picked up his cell phone and dialled a private number.
Emperor Nikolai's voice came over the other end.
"Anatoli. What is it?"
"I'm sorry to wake you, your grace, but there's been a development. I thought you might be interested."
"I'm listening."
"The nation of Nabimba is experiencing a violent civil war."
"Nabimba? Never heard of it."
"It's been on the news recently. There's been a call for foreign intervention, to restore law and order. Do you see where I'm going with this?"
"I believe so. I'll make the appropriate calls, but keep your eyes and ears open. Have your men in the region dig up any kind of information they can on the situation."
"Of course, Your Grace. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Anatoli."
He hung up the phone. It would be a busy night.

The Essex-sized amphibious carrier was a hive of activity. On the flight deck, four Marine Rafale-Ms were brought to the catapults. To the side, a line of MH-53 Pave Lows were idling as the Marines piled in. While the main part of the MEU would infil via amphibious landing craft, the first on the ground would be the Marines of the 5th Recon. The catapults fired, launching the fighters that would cover the landing, even as the nearby Boudicca's Revenge and Ray of Light launched their own fighters. It would still be a while until the Air Force and GDA troops arrived, though the COs of both had already arrived and landed on the Boudicca. A helicopter would fly them in and establish the GHQ in a friendly region as agreed with the Nabimban government.

"I'm pretty sure they are. People have already evacuated to Ba'an, maybe we should." He replied. "I sure don't want to die for the president."
"No kidding, but the rebels are just as bad..."
The soldier didn't have time to finish his sentence, because at that moment, shells fired straight towards them. "The tanks, the tanks!" One yelled, they all panicked. In the dead of night, no one could see more than 5 feet ahead of them - the streetlights were turned off, to prevent giving away their positions. Not that it mattered, everyone was either stationed by the bridge, river, or Government Palace. No one cared about the city, or the people in it. Hundreds of dead bodies were piled up on the streets.
Now, the rebels attacked. Government soldiers didn't notice if they died, they simply fell to the floor, with a sniper round in their head or stomach. How the hell can the rebels see?
6:15 AM
Sunrise comes up, and the scene was devastating. The rebels apparently made a surprise attack, with the help of tanks, and a still-unknown way of sniping-in-the-dark, almost half of the Nabimban Government army was dead. The guard posts just made were destroyed, and now, the rebels had a chance...

The PMC Para Military has asked for permission to send men into your country to help in the civil war, Sandline would like to state that we have no part in the war we are just a contract broker/agent. They require a small fee of $20,000,000. We would also accept holds in land instead of currency, remember that these are prefessional soldiers that will fight and train your men to the skill of national guard not just militia.
With respects,
On the behalf of Para Military,
The Sandline government.

Commonwealth GHQ, Nabimba
The UH-60s flew close to the ground, kicking up clouds of dust as they dropped Marines by fast rope to expand their cordon. On the ground, convoys of APCs and Humvees brought aid supplies to nearby villages and towns ravaged by the civil unrest. Two men stood atop one M1 Abrams with a bullhorn, one speaking Russian and the other the local Nabimban language, "We are Peacekeeping forces of the Commonwealth; we are here to help. You will not be harmed. Anyone presenting hostile actions towards us or civilians will be dealt with appropriate response."
From the command tent, General Kaveshov scanned the gleaming LED displays set up. At his side, the MEU commander, General Gorechtla, preened over the latest intelligence reports. She was everything the General had expected of a Marine commander, a fire-pisser and no nonsense woman who was every bit Semper Fi as her toughest grunt. A screen came to life, and the image of Colonel Polenin appeared. He was still in his fighter, having been refueled by the naval forces before reaching Nabimba.
"Sorry for not saluting, General," he said through the audio pickup. "The 3rd Air Wing has arrived, as well as the 204th Airlift and the 5th DEF."
"Welcome to Nabimba," the General said. "There is an abandoned municipal airfield that the 5th MEU has secured for your use. Use their guidance for landing. We will keep in contact through the video-phone."
"Roger that, Polenin out," the Colonel answered, switching off his XMIT.

Walter Staunton looked at the notes that he held in his hand as his private jet flew towards Nabimban airspace without any worry about rebel attack; for it was the opinion of the Anglian Government that they would not be attacked because they did nothing which would make them a target. Indeed, violence would be a last resort and Staunton just happened to be chosen for this diplomatic mission. He was roughly a middle aged man, married, and had one child and never really ventured out into the world except for a few overtures to the Norwich Islands but now he was on a serious mission. The fates of many, he thought, were in his hands and so he would do his best in this meeting with the leaders of one of Anglia's former colonies. Indeed, Staunton remembered the final days of colonial rule although he was merely only a child under his parents' wing. He was privy to news reports declaring the fall of Anglian rule much to the discomfort of colonialists who still sought to retain control. On board the plane were several security guards and Staunton's secretary; since he had been promoted to leading the Nabimban mission he had been given a secretary to help him organize reports and so forth. As he read his notes, Walter contemplated the situation in Nabimba. Of course, he knew, there would be those who would enjoy retaking control of the nation even if soldiers had to die in the attempt. There would be some who would demand a non-interventionist approach, that is, Anglia should not give a damn about the Nabimbans and just make sure the Anglians in that faraway land were safe. Indeed, that was the only reason why Staunton was sent and why the Anglian Government cared anyway; if there were no Anglians in Nabimba then there would be no need to care. Prime Minister Beaumarchais had already begun plans to improve the economy even further and many wanted to focus their attention on those plans rather than the chaos in a nation which had forsaken the benefits of Anglian leadership.
When the plane finally landed, Walter Staunton studied his surroundings with his secretary standing close beside him; they both could see the state of affairs in Nabimba by just looking around. Staunton told his secretary in Middle English that they would wait at the terminal until the Nabimbans arrived to greet them...and that is what they did. They waited.

“There it is.”
“Looks like a shithole to me.”
Colonel Kereshko spit over the rail, into the green sea below. The sky above was turning blood red as the sun sank over the starboard side of the massive troopship. In the distance, a thin sliver of coastline was barely visible in the failing light. General Sergei Miljanovic chuckled at his young subordinate as he lit a cigarette.
“Don’t be so sullen, Mitya. Think about it, a whole country of hostile reds, and guess who gets to go in and knock some sense into them.”
Kereshko chuckled dryly.
“Sounds like a vacation to me.”
Farther back, across the darkening sea, General Nys’ky watched the same horizon, albeit with no coastline in sight. Standing on the bridge of the carrier Kazatmiru, he scratched his beard and contemplated the opening moves. Commonwealth forces were already ashore, and the rest of the 7th fleet would be entering the theater of operations within the hour.
“Shit’s about to get real,” grinned a young Imperial naval officer, manning a computer on the opposite end of the bridge. Nys’ky, overhearing him, smiled in turn.
“I appreciate your enthusiasm,” he said dryly.
“Sir,” said another young man, appearing at the General’s side with a starch salute. “GH-2’s are fueled and ready to go.
“Very well,” said Nys’ky. “Let’s put our boots on the ground.”
In a few moments, dozens of the Empire’s gunships, accompanied by GAH-2 attack choppers were in the air, flying low over the waves towards their destination. They were laden with Imperial Praetorians, Generia’s elite shock troops, most of whom were veterans of the recent counter-insurgency in Alberia and the Imperial colonies in New Borneria.
As the helicopters took flight, Colonel Kereshko watched from the deck of the troop ship.
“Hell are they going?” he asked quietly, flicking the butt of a cigarette into the ocean.
“Some place called Akiba,” replied General Miljanovic.
Overhead, a flight of Imperial GIF-77 strike fighters screamed past, under the escort of GIF-2 ‘Gunslinger’ fighters. They waited only for confirmation of their targets. Apparently, the rebels had landed a devastating blow against government forces in the area, and was poised to take the port. The Empire intended to prevent this.
As the first of the Empire’s helicopter’s passed over the coast, General Nys’ky headed out onto the deck of the carrier.
“General, sir,” saluted a young seaman. “Your chopper’s waiting to take you in to GHQ.”
Nys’ky nodded.
Time to meet the locals.
As his chopper dusted off, a Generian pilot radioed in to the Commonwealth air command over a secure channel.
“General Nys’ky has left the Kazatmiru and is en route to GHQ. Requesting a landing zone and safe passage through your airspace.”

Port Akiba, Nabimba
Far overhead, two B1-B Lancers of the 34th Bomber Squadron held at a steady 40,000 ft. Rebel armor and troops had devastated the government garrison during a night raid, but now the CADF stood ready to repel the attack. Locking on, the bomb bays opened, dropping a slew of mixed ordinance. Through their mounted camera displays, the pilots and bombadiers watched in satisfaction as the tanks and armor went up in plumes of smoke, struck by the precision-guided weapons. Roaring in at a much lower 10,000 ft, Rafale-Bs of the 12th Strike Fighter Squadron made strafing runs against rebel positions, dropping fragmentation bombs and other small ordinance. Even as they left to rearm, two AC-130U gunships roared overhead, ready to provide close air interdiction.

"Comrade-General," a tech spoke up, "Boudicca reports Imperial ships have weighed anchor off the coast. Incoming helicopters from ships at vector 230. Incoming request."
"On speaker," the General ordered.
“General Nys’ky has left the Kazatmiru and is en route to GHQ. Requesting a landing zone and safe passage through your airspace."
"Give them clearance," General Kaveshov answered. "Do we have any birds in the air?"
"I got two AH-1Z Vipers on patrol," General Gorechtla said, scanning an overhead monitor, "And a flight of Rafale's that are close by."
"Have the Vipers escort them in, and let the Rafale's know we might need them. Send a confirm to Nys'ky."
"Roger," the Comm operator answered. "General Kaveshov accepts your requests and sends greetings. Follow air controller commands towards GHQ."

"Confirmed," replied the pilot. "We've got a clear path, General. Coming in now," he said, turning back to Nys'ky.
"Ask him how the weather is down there," the Imperial General responded. The pilot chuckled.
"If I could guess, I'd say humid with a chance of bombs."
As the Commonwealth Vipers took up escort positions, Nys'ky's GH-2 proceeded towards the landing zone. A few minutes later, it touched down roughly. Nys'ky was off of it as soon as the wheels hit the ground. He hated flying.
As his aid and a group of Imperial soldiers took up positions around him, he made to light a cigarette, but quickly remembered to slap on the insignia of the peacekeeping force.
"Gotta look like we belong," he muttered to his aid.
Meanwhile, the Imperial assault choppers continued on their course for Akiba.

A old, battered jeep drove down the road. No living thing was seen; most people had either evacuated to Ba'an - illigally - or stayed hidden in their homes, praying. The military jeep carried 4 people. The first three were merely Government Soldiers, but the fourth, in the passenger's seat, was none other than President Olajwan himself. He wanted to meet the Anglians himself, and he was on his way to the airport.
Twenty Minutes Later...
"President Olajwan!" the Airport Guard screamed, at the top of his lungs, while saluting, "The foreigner awaits inside the terminal!"
"Do not spit on my face," Olajwan replied, "I know they are here, no need to scream." He then walked in, with his four other guards, and saw the nearly-deserted airport. Only two people were seen - The Anglian Diplomat. He walked towards them. "Welcome to Nabimba!" Olajwan took out his hand.
Meanwhile, a guard whispered into his radio, in one of the many tribal languages. * Olajwan makita fi at-tayarah *

Mortar fire replaced the voice; they were being bombarded again. This time, in broad daylight. The General, standing by the radio operator, screamed outside the door. "Turn on the damn siren! Warn the other troops!" His voice was barely audible to the men at the station, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway. A split second after the siren was turned on, the tower took a direct hit by a tank, and the top of the tower exploded.
"Take some cover!" The general screamed. Men at the side of the river jumped into a small trench they made, in case something like this happened again. The men at the wall, a few meters back of the river, randomly shot RPG's at the other side of the river.

Walter Staunton firmly shook the hand of Olajwan with a smile on his face; as if he was happy to be able to be meeting the President of a nation going deeper and deeper in the pit of chaos and destruction. His secretary curtseyed and briefly held the hand of Olajwan with a smile of her own before she began listening to the solemn and polite tone of voice that she immediately recognized as Staunton's voice. "It is nice to be here in the nation of Nabimba, President. The radio in the lead chopper en route to Akiba crackled to life. As the voices disintegrated into an explosive cacophony, Lieutenant Isaak Lyovic, a Praetorian officer, moved from his seat towards the cockpit.
“What the hell was that?!” he shouted over the noise of the rotors.
“Government forces!” shouted the copilot. “At Port Akiba!”
The radio crackled to life again, this time with the voice of Captain Gerasim Daniilo, of the Kazatmiru.
“To the 7th Praetorian company, change course immediately for Freedom International Airport. You are to secure the airport and relieve embattled government forces until additional air units arrive.”
The lieutenant cursed loudly, and scurried back to his seat.
“Hang on lieutenant!” shouted the pilot. “It’s gonna be hot!”
The Praetorian pulled down his armored faceplate, and checked his GIR-47 assault rifle. The choppers were coming in fast. The tin-can sound of gunfire suddenly joined the noise of the rotors in brutal harmony as the Imperial forces passed over rebel positions. The gunners opened fire on the ground below. From where he sat, Lyovic could see the rocket pods of the GAH-2’s light up as they opened fire, plowing the road ahead.
A message went out over the radio, on the same channel being used by the government forces.
“To all loyalist units operating in Port Akiba: Imperial army units are preparing to touch down at Freedom International. We need information on rebel positions in the area.”
As the message concluded, Lyovic’s chopper came in over the runway. A few rebel soldiers scurried behind a hanger, near the edge of the airport. As the machine guns opened up, the first Imperial Praetorians touched down, among them Lyovic himself. The Empire’s elite troops, 200 of them total, hit the deck, or scurried for cover, before fanning out to secure the airfield. Above, a flight of GIF-77s unleashed their payloads on an enemy somewhere in the distance.

Meanwhile, the Imperial assault choppers continued on their course for Akiba.
Generals Kaveshov and Gorechtla walked towards the Imperial group as they stepped down from their helicopter. Two GDA troops followed with them, cradling their XM-8 rifles.
"General Nys'ky," Kaveshov began, "I am General Kaveshov, and this is the Marine CO, General Gorechtla."
"Welcome to Nabimba," she said, extending her hand in welcome. As Kaveshov was about to continue, an aide ran out from the tent, saluting the flag officers before stating his business.
"Tabriche-Kaveshov, Zampolit ts'kaii oitee," he reported.
"I see..." the General said sullenly. "Comrade-Nys'ky, I must apologize for having to attend to business so soon, General Gorechtla will be happy to show you to the command center." With that, he went towards his cabin, the aide at his heels.
Command Cabin
Sitting at the General's desk, Lt. 1st Rate Grigori Mahtrivek smoked a cigarette cooly. As the command center's zampolit, or political officer, he reported to the GRU, and not directly to the chain of command.
"Put that out," the General ordered as he entered his cabin.
"Certainly, Comrade-General," he answered, snubbing it out in the bare earth underfoot.
"What do you want?"
"I have recieved news that the Committee for State Security will be sending an observer, along with our diplomats which will work with the Nabimban government."
"And why is the KGB interested in this peacekeeping exercise?" Kaveshov asked.
"To make sure that the security of the Commonwealth is not unduly affected by our presence here."
"Oh, I'm sure of that..." the General quipped.
Port Akiba
While the second set of B1 bombers were set to arrive, the two AC-130s lit up, firing their artillery at rebel positions as they supported the government units. Jet engines screamed overhead as a flight of Rafale's and F-15 Strike Eagles came in to support, dropping their ordinance and turning back around for another pass.
FSS Concordia Ultima, BBN-62
The battleship was one of the newest of the fleet, the fourth of the Concordia line, she was a fine addition to any fleet. Her forward turrets swiveled, the six barrels adjusting their angle. The ship was to assist government positions by laying down close artillery support. At the command, the 16 in. guns fired, launching their projectiles at their targets. Enhanced doppler and Lidar made their hits more accurate than any battleship previously could boast.
FSS Xerxes Vengeance, HCN-82
The cruise missile heavy cruiser launched its own ordinance, in this case, Tomahawk cruise missiles, at its own targets in the combined effort to halt the rebel advance. This was all a concerted effort to soften the enemy before having to commit ground troops. As it was, at the very edge of the combat zone, the 5th Lancers of the GDA were ready to strike.

"This way, please," Gorechtla said, leading the way back.
As they entered the tent, the latest information came in concerning Port Akiba. The 3rd Air Wing was doing its job with its precision strikes, and the naval forces were striking with their own might. It was only a matter of time before the 5th Lancers were allowed to go in and mop up the area. All of this Gorechtla explained as she escorted them through the command center.

Nys’ky nodded, pleased at what he saw. It seemed that the rebels were getting as good as they gave in this early stage of the war.
Keeping this up, the government might still be standing at the end of it all, he thought to himself. It might not be true about the rest of the country, though.
Meanwhile, on the deck of the Alexei, sister ship of the Kazatmiru, additional Praetorian units were preparing to embark for Port Akiba. At Freedom International, Lyovic and his men dug in while the bombs fell on the city around them. It was an impressive display, but the Generian had a bad feeling that the rebels were not going to be completely deterred.
They wiped out half the government army in a night. They must have something going for them…
With that, he quickly raised his rifle and plinked off a few shots at a man in rough fatigues darting around a structure a hundred yards away.
“Hang on, gentlemen! Shit might get messy!” he shouted into the radio.

"Rebels are now appoaching friendly positions in and around the airport," a soldier calmly informed the General.
"Do we have any ground assets?" Kaveshov asked.
"A team of AFSOC combat controllers that have been relaying ground data," came the soldier's response.
"Have them designate targets for artillery and air units."

Meanwhile, SSGT Marcus Redding and MSGT Leonard Riche were dug in on a hill overlooking the airport. They had been inserted via HALO drop almost two days ago. After recieving word from command, they began to pick their targets, laying precise coordinates to the ships offshore and the artillery units stationed on the far side of the combat zone.
As they relayed the information, the 5th Lancers, part of the GDAs 3rd Armored Battalion, moved out. Protected by M1 Abrams tanks, the force was mainly composed of Stryker LAVs. Most of the Stykers were armed with Mk19 grenade launchers and M2 machine guns, though some carried anti-tank TOW missile launchers. The 3rd Armored's mission was to secure the area around the airport as they waited for reinforcement from the GDAs 7th Air Cavalry. The infamous 7th was already enroute, embarked in UH-60 Blackhawks and MH-53 Pave Lows. Within moments, the 5,000 plus troops of the GDA would meet their first combat in Nabimba.

Taking off from the CADFs airfield, two UH-60 Blackhawks and a pair of AH-1Z Vipers flew towards the airport. Inside the Blackhawks, the 74th Rangers prepared for combat. Decked out in protective gear and XM-8 derivatives, they were the pride of the GDA. Their mission was simple; fast-rope into the airport, secure the foreign diplomats, and at their request, bring them back to the GHQ. Even as they approached, Intel reported that the first of the Lancers had reached the airport.

Walter could hear the voice of the Commonwealth soldier and could tell that it would be far more better to go with strangers than to risk being killed in some skirmish by merely being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Walter and his secretary walked towards the soldiers of the Commonwealth and Walter, confident that he had found some sort of safety for himself and the scared secretary, began to speak solemn in a tone of voice that showed he was of English descent. "I am Walter Staunton. an Anglian diplomat and this is my secretary, Jacquette. We are citizens of the Queendom of Anglia and we request safety from you."
The secretary stayed close to Walter but kept a wary eye on the Commonwealth soldiers as she was still pretty much nervous but Walter, her boss, was calm and collected and looked as if he felt nothing was going on, as if there was no rebel attack going on at all.

The Stryker platoon escorted the two into their LAC, taking cover and firing positions as they waited for the Rangers. The turret gunner fired a six-round burst of 40mm grenades at a rebel position, swiveling on to the next target. It seemed like forever until the sound of rotor blades could be heard. The first to arriver were the Vipers, making strafing runs with their machine guns and 2.75 rockets. The Blackhawks came next, their door gunners spraying covering fire. The first helicopter hovered over the Stryker, fast-roping the Rangers as they helped the GDA platoon secure the perimeter. Once they were sure it was safe, the second Blackhawk landed, five Rangers piling out and making for the LAC.
"Walter Staunton?" asked the first of them. "Lt. Cristof of the 74th Rangers, here to take you to our GHQ. Stay on my six and we'll escort ya'll out." He handed the man a black vest, "Put these on."
Once their vests were one, the Rangers surrounded the Anglians and escorted them back to the Blackhawk. The moment they had both been secured, the helicopter took off, its escape covered by the platoon and the hovering attack helicopters. The Vipers fell back on their wing as they sped towards the GHQ.

“Large numbers of rebel soldiers are converging on the airport from all sides,” crackled Lyovic’s radio. “It is imperative that the airport be held at all costs. Be advised, high value individuals have taken cover within the airport, including the Ace.”
Lyovic cursed, hearing the code name for the Nabimban President. At that moment, a hail of gunfire shattered the rhythm of artillery explosions and sonic booms that had been shaking the ground for some time.
“Get the fuck down!” shouted a nearby Praetorian to the men clustered behind a makeshift barricade constructed earlier by government troops. Lyovic raised his own rifle and opened up on a group of rebels charging across the runway, towards the terminal. As they sprawled out across the hot pavement, he fell back into the trench, his back to the wall.
“Sergeant Kolokov!” he shouted into his radio. “Get your men into the terminal, and open fire on their flank!”
Kolokov, a physically massive individual, responded instantly.
“You heard him!”
He grabbed the collar of the soldier beside him, and hurled him bodily from cover, taking off himself a second later in a full-blown sprint for the nearby airport terminal. As gunfire roared over their heads, the rest of the Empire’s elite forces opened up on the positions the rebels had taken in a gully along the edge of the main runway. After what felt like an eternity of running, the Imperial sergeant hurled himself through a shattered window, into the modest structure.
He rolled over and looked up, in time to see two of his men practically throw a third into the whitewashed sanctuary.
“Dima got tagged!”
The man was grabbing at his upper thigh.
“Went right through,” he grunted through gritted teeth. “I’ll live.”
Kolokov nodded, and made for the far end of the terminal, where large bay windows overlooked the rebels’ current left flank along the edge of the runway. They were trying desperately to avoid the Generian field of fire, moving right towards the hangers. Kolokov took up position behind a service counter, and placed his heavy SAW on the flat surface. A few bullets whizzed overhead, but the roar of his weapon drowned out any further sound. He was joined by the rest of his squad, who opened up on the exposed position. The rebels scattered in every direction, some stumbling into the withering crossfire and falling in droves.
At that moment, Lyovic spotted a formidable sight coming over the ridge, nearing the runway: a group of rebel tanks.
“Armor!” he shouted into his radio. Almost on cue, a stream of missiles from an allied attack helicopter dissolved the thin horizon in flame. Lethal cannon fire kept the infantry at bay, as a pair of Praetorians took aim with an antitank weapon. The missile streaked upwards, and came down with a thunderous explosion.
As the Praetorians fought for their lives and the ground they held, Generian LCAC cruised over the waves. As the waves turned to sand and rock, the doors opened, and a unit of Imperial IFVs sped out onto the foreign shores. They were soon joined by a platoon of Imperial GT-91 main battle tanks. Overhead, the roar of the gunship Vulcan cannons covered the armored units as they made for the encircled airport.

Walter immediately put on the black vest that Cristof had handed him before he took his seat in the Blackhawk helicopter with his calm and collected secretary who was able to shed her fright after being reassured that she would be safe in the hands of the 74th Rangers. Walter contemplated being in the posession of the Rangers as he waited for the Blackhawk to arrive at the GHQ. He hoped that he would be able to get home so he could see his family and friends and so his secretary could see hers; neither of them wanted to be stuck in some unknown nation for more than was needed. He looked out a window and fell into deep thought.

The roar of rotors returned, and the Stryker platoons looked up to see the Blackhawks of the 7th Air Cavalry arrive. Their attack helicopters made strafing runs as they secured fast-roping positions for the helicopters. These were the soldiers of the Sevenths 1st Battalion, A Company. The first wave of 250 soldiers were ready to shore up their comrades and allied units, rushing to their perimeter duties. After gathering his bearings, Lt. Colonel Sheppard Calmly walked towards the airport terminal. His platoon fanned out behind him, taking firing positions in the building as he walked towards the Imperial troops.
"Colonel Sheppard, 7th Cav. Heard you boys needed some help," he said to an Imperial officer.

The helicopter passed over the forest of tents that made up the GHQ, passing the pole and the Commonwealth flag that flew taught in the wind. The helicopter touched down with barely a bump, a trick of the trade for the SOCOM pilots. From the side, General Kaveshov strode up, followed by his aide.
"Comrade-Staughton," he greeted, "It seems meeting people has become a tenet of command here. We've got food and drink inside, if you wish. Let me brief you on the situation and we can get to contacting the Nabimban government."

"Sure thing," the General said as they made it into the command tent. The interior was dark except for the ethereal glow of the banks of computer monitors and overhead displays. "Rebel forces have crossed the bridge here," he pointed, "and have begun an assault on the airport. Imperial and Nabimban government forces bunkered there have been severely beaten back, falling back into the main structures. Our boys, the 5th Lancers, have broken through and made a perimeter or armor, mainly Stryker LACs and M1 tanks, as well as trenches and reinforced barricades for the infantry. Shortly after your departure, the 7th Cavalry's 'A' Company landed to reinforce the units already there. The goal is to get the entire Cavalry's 1st Battalion into the LZ, a total of 1000 troopers. In the air, we have the 34th Bomber Squadron and 12th Strike Fighters providing close-air support, as well as two AC-130 Spectre gunships of the 2nd Special Ops Squadron. Our naval forces are providing similar air-to-ground support. That's pretty much how things stand."
As the general said this, he nodded to a desk with a pot of tea. "This'll have to do for drinks," he said, "And the mess tent is over a bit if you want some chow."

"So, who should get the mission?" Kaveshov asked Gorechtla.
"Rangers seem to be more suited for larger missions," Gorechtla surmised, "Recon has trained for smaller snatch-and-grab missions more extensively..."
"How 'bout a comprimise? Recon provides assault teams while Rangers work as security around the perimeter. We get a list of Anglians and their locations, set up the 210th SOAR with the teams and grab 'em one by one."
"That's reasonable," Gorechtla answered. "Recon is still embarked on the Fog of War. Fly them to the airfield and team up with the Rangers stationed there...it could work."

Once the foreigners left, the Nabimban Government forces were on their own. They were only numbered at twenty, and the rebels - fifteen times that. Now hiding behind the depatures desks was the president, closely guarded by two Government soldiers. They were going to make a last stand.
The rebels had now controlled the airport, and most of the city, in fact. Only the presidential palace was left untouched. It was no use to attack a heavily-fortified place when they know the president was here. So now, the rebels planned to punish the president once and for all. "He has to be in the departures section, come on! He was talking with the foreigners here! I want one-fourth of you to stand guard outside, the rest of you, search"
"Attack!" cried the Government soldiers. They charged towards the rebel general in charge, guns blazing. THe general had to take cover, but he really didn't need to. The rebels shot all ten of them down in just a few seconds. When it was all over, they put the dead bodies in a pile. This would look good on the camaras. The other guards were now scared to death, but knew that if they surrendered, they would die anyway. The distraction to get the president out didn't work, and they were trapped, now with even less soldiers. President Olaj'wan now gave up, and stood. " I am here, just do not kill me." he said.

OOC: haha, you guys either forgot about my president, or don't care . I read the post you made while I was gone, and I must've skipped the part when you surrounded my airport. Well, now that my president is in the hands of the rebels, I'm pretty sure you know what will happen...
How many troops do the others have? Together, you could easily overrun the rebels in the airport.
IC:
"Alright Mr. President, come with me." The rebel General took out his pistol, a Glock, and put it to the president's head.
"But, you said you wouldn't kill me!" The president replied. "What are you doing?"
"You asked not to be killed. We didn't say that we won't." The General dragged the president on the floor, and went to the neares wall. Two rebels were standing in front of a camera, they were standing straight, with their guns behind their backs. The general pulled President Olaj'wan to the center, kneeling in between the two men, and he pulled his hair so the President would face the camera. In front of the two rebels were government soldiers, kneeling on the ground, and also facing the camera. The general took his gun to the President's head, and told the camera man "Start"
"People of Nabimba!" The General said. He was now confident that there would be no more of President Olaj'wan. "There will be a new era of prosperity in our nation! No more corruption will be in our government, because the old government will fall! We, of the People's Rebellion, have officially made a succesful coup d'etat against the corrupted, rich, money-loving government. Here, in front of me, is the awful",He spit on the president's face " President Olaj'wan, and next to me, infront of two of our brothers (not literally) are two government solders. They", he pointed on each side of him, "will be killed now."
The rebels took the Ak-47 fron their backs, and put the gun to the rebels backs, almost simultaneously. They then shot a few rounds, and the soldiers fell to the floor. Just to make sure, the rebels shot them again.
The president was next.

The president ran to where the shot came from, and he ran like never before. The five Government troops stilll hiding now came out, and returned fire to the reblels. Scores of them fell. "Mr. Olaj'wan, get to safety. I believe that the foreigners are outside. I will hold them off!" The president did just that, but a second later, the soldier was shot and tripped. The other four hid behind anything they could find and just kept firing.
"Mugatu, Robert, get to the left and flank them, now!"
"No! Aton'guma, our job is to protect the president, we go with him." The soldier, named Robert, replied.
"That's it, I will flank them! But you must stay here."
A rebel threw a grenade at Aton'guma, and shrapnel hit him all over his body. Still standing, however, he took out his gun and shot all he could before falling down.
"Damn it! I told him not to go there!" Robert said. "Retreat and get teh president to safety, let's go!"
After a seemingly never ending run, they found the president, right by the doors. They could see the foreigners and their soldiers. They were saved.

A shriek of jet engines could be heard from over the horizon. As they got closer, the fast-moving dots against the sky grew larger, the roar of their engines more deafening. The two Rafale's locked onto the building the rebel troops were in. The pilots thumbed their weapon safeties off and launched a pair of 2000 lb. "Sir?" One of the surviving soldier's asked, "We must get to safety immiediately. I am afraid that danger is near. Do you agree foreigner?" He looked at the soldier, the one hugged by the President.

Kingsway House had been, since the 1800s, the home of the Foreign Ministry of the Anglian realm and it had always been the site where the Foreign Minister met with his senior associates to coordinate foreign policy and diplomatic relations with other nations. Indeed, at this site located along the city trail where Kings once tread enroute to coronations, Anthony Thornton sat in his office with a report in one hand and a glass of coffee in the other. It happened to be early in the morning, around five o'clock, but Anthony woke himself up so he could commence his work for the day as he did every other day; displacing himself from the pleasures of sleeping which he, at times, sorely missed. While he sat at his desk, he recieved news from his energetic secretary that Mr. Staunton and his secretary were secured in the hands of Commonwealth soldiers after a fiasco at the airport in Nabimba. Anthony did not concern himself too much with it; knowing that Walter Staunton was a capable man but he did care for his comrade's life and that of his assistant. He asked his secretary to send a reply to the news, signed in his name (and off camera) that Walter and his secretary should be returned to Anglia as soon as was possible. The secretary nodded her head before swiftly leaving the office to commence her own work for the day. Looking out the window, Anthony Thornton sighed and resigned himself to reading more reports that he had about world events; he was thankful that Anglia's leaders did not entangle themselves in foreign alliances and that the Queen, a close friend of his, was adamantly opposed to interventionism. "Uh, sure," Corporal Sanderson of the Air Cav's B Company answered. He was deciding the best way of asking the foreign head of state to let go as they maneuvered awkwardly into the awaiting Blackhawk. The General found the two Anglians sampling the chow in the mess hall. It wasn't an MRE, but it wasn't exactly up to civilian standards, either. Taking a seat next to them, he relayed the dispatch he'd recieved from the Anglian government.
"Our best bet is to get you to one of our amphibious assault ships that's standing by offshore, " Kaveshov explained. "From there, an S-3 Viking COD will take you to a Commonwealth airport and you'll be booked on a flight back to your Motherland. I'm sorry it has to be so indirect, but our main goal must be to restore Nabimban stability." He stood up and extended his hand, "Well, I must return to my duties, have a safe trip, do svidonia."
At the helipad, an MH-53 Pave Low landed as it prepared to shuttle the Anglians to the assault carrier Fog of War.
