State News report from the Democratic People's Republic of Andaras
Today officials from the Commissariat of Industrial Development have reported a massive 578.9% increase in industrial production capacity since the last year. further reporting that 367,657 new bridges, 608,723 new roads and many more steel and iron works have been built. A spokesperson said that 'this development is a direct result of the development of the socialization in production, and the deepening of the proletarial state'. Further was reported that over 2,000 kulaks and other criminal profiteers have been discovered by the Peasants' Soviets' and expropriated. Peasants all over Andaras are rejoicing as the rise of socialist agriculture means an end to the landlordism and feudal despotism of the kulaks.
The First Secretary has announced that borders will now be closed temporary so that the authorities can discover the secret bourgeois illegal trade routes used by the kulaks to sell grain abroad for profit and to attempt to starve the peasants. Once all illegal bourgeois outposts in the country are expropriated, then the borders will be reopened as the troops reoccupy our frontier. Reports further indicate that these 300,000 kulaks have been sent to Quiafah province for 'reform-through-labor', so they can be reeducated to the ways of socialist society.
The First Secretary further said that the full industrialization of the socialist society is the key to the political supremacy of the working class over the propertied classes. Once communications and infrastructure are extended fully to the peasant areas, then the peasants can be fully proletarianized and the last refuge of the exploiters lost.
For months since the revolution food shortages have plagued the new republic, and even reports of starvation were beginning to emerge. The superior socialist planned economy of course could not have been the problem, records indicate that supplies should have been adequate in the first 5-year plan.
It has been revealed today by state officials that the cause of all problems in the socialist state were indeed the acts of anti-proletarial class enemies, who, driven out of the cities have been organizing clandestine private enterprises in the countryside. These 'kulaks', the state officials have revealed, were using fascist mobs to steal grain from innocent peasants, and to enrich themselves to speculating on higher prices in bourgeois markets abroad.
Today these counter-revolutionary wreckers and saboteurs, have been declared 'socially dangerous elements' and 'nonpeople' an have thus been convicted by the Revolutionary court under Article 58 (Andaras Penal Code) as traitors to be shot. Their number is approximately 300,000~.
The Tribunal is also investigating possible links to foreign bourgeois individuals and states, and will release it's findings after their investigations are complete.
Because of the amount of crimes committed under the Article 58 (Andaras Penal Code), the individuals are declared traitors under 58-1а and will hereby be executed. Below is the legal code which they will judges according to the laws of the people.

* 58-6. Espionage. Punishment: similar to 58-2.
* 58-7. Undermining of state industry, transport, monetary circulation or credit system, as well as of cooperative societies and organizations, with counter-revolutionary purpose (as defined by 58-1) by means of the corresponding usage of the state institutions, as well as by opposing their normal functioning: same as 58-2. Note: the offense according to this article was known as wrecking and the offenders were called "wreckers".
* 58-8. Terrorist acts against representatives of worker power or of workers and peasants organisations: same as 58-2.
* 58-9. Damage of transport, communication, water supply, warehouses and other buildings or state and communal property with counter-revolutionary purpose: same as 58-2.
* 58-10. Anti-Andarasan and counter-revolutionary propaganda and agitation: at least 6 months of imprisonment. In the conditions of unrest or war: same as 58.2.
* 58-11. Any kind of organisational or support actions related to the preparation or execution of the above crimes is equated to the corresponding offenses and persecuted by the corresponding articles.
* 58-12. Non-reporting of a "counter-revolutionary activity": at least 6 months of imprisonment.
* 58-13. Active struggle against revolutionary movement of tsarist personnel and members of "counter-revolutionary governments" during the civil war, same as 58-2.
* 58-14 (added on June 6th, 1937) "Counter-revolutionary sabotage", i.e., conscious non-execution or deliberately careless execution of "defined duties", aimed at the weakening of the power of the government and of the functioning of the state apparatus is subject to at least one year of freedom deprivation, and under especially aggravating circumstances, up to the highest measure of social protection: execution by shooting with confiscation of property.

Here again, they confiscate the private property of 'kulaks' – if the original Soviet use of the term is anything to judge for, anybody owning more than one horse – take their land, subjugate them, remove their freedom! One would think they'd at least let the poor sods leave the country, but oh no.
And now they are having a food crisis, and what do they do to the people in their country who still 'clandestinely' run operations to produce food, grow grain, or engage in trade? They shoot them. They shoot people who produce food while the country is starving.
Had you at least deported those tradesmen to some country, and not killed them, perhaps I would have been merciful. In the past, Allaneans have funded – out of their own private pockets – thousands of tons of food for countries like yours, even though they were suffering from starvation inflicted by their own policies. But you murder the people growing your food.
In a proper society, the wealth of a businessman is a measure of society's appreciation of his services. Those who grow food for the world, who make films, computer games, medical equipment, weapons and pornography, deserve to be rich. Your society's payment for the people who grow your food is death. I suppose this means Andaran society doesn't want any food.

It has been announced today by State Protection officials (Commissars) that they are rigorously hunting for evidence of the foreign backers of the wreckers and spies among us. It has been revealed that those who are hording grain and in fact speculating with it on foreign capitalist markets to enrich themselves while their countrymen starve, which is both unpatriotic and unproletarial activity punishable by death. OOC: The Iron Fist is the name of the criminal organization. It is called that because the leader has a metal prosthetic hand.
IC: The Iron Fist was doing well. They were a relatively small organization in comparison to the rest of the world's criminal groups, but they were ambitious. The leader, a man by the name of Franco Martinello, was checking out his current moneymakers. One of the things he had done was dabble in the markets, and his current fancy was foreign grain markets. He had worked out how to manipulate the Andaran grain market to spike the global price, by convincing the Andarans to horde it, and was now cashing in. He would have to watch, in case the price fell though. As to the threats made in the Andaran announcement, there was not much concern there. He had bought into the market using a dummy corporation, and while a government like Andaras could eventually follow it back to the Iron Fist, he was well protected. His men had infiltrated the local police, so he would get advanced warning of any law enforcement raid, and his personal army was more than capable of protecting him from an assassin or two.

With both a valid entry visa and knowledge of Vetalian language and customs, a well-trained agent would have no problem gaining access to the golden heart of government and finance in the Meritocratic Republic.

Franco Martinello knew that his speculating on the foreign grain markets was doing well, but he worried that it wouldn't last long. He really didn't want to get burned, and if Andaras found the grain before he could sell, he'd be looking at a loss. He called a subordinate into his office, and instructed him to contact the Andaran conspirators through the dummy corporation, to inform them that he was selling his interest while grain prices were still high, and to suggest to them that they do the same, then dump the grain on the market of their choosing. This would make the conspirators wealthy, and crash the price, as there would appear to be a sudden surplus of grain.
Once the subordinate left the office, Franco Martinello sold his interest, at a very large profit.
