Rasthor International

LIADON, R.D. -- Today what everyone expected has become reality, Sakon Rasthor III, CEO and heir to the founder of Rasthor International, has officially become President of the Republic of Rea Dan. The small, democratic state of Rea Dan is not only the home of its new ruler's corporation, but is also (thanks to privatization of its public sector,) practically run by the company. Thanks to the sparse economic laws of Rea Dan, Rasthor International is also the nation's only acknowledged firm operating within its bounderies.
A few vocal opponents to the president-elect claim that Rasthor International's aggressive, monopolistic control of all media outlets practically guaranteed Sakon III's election. The president-elect had this to say, "my fellow readanians, it is time that we pushed aside our past. This vocal minority that threatens the legitimacy of my presidential claim are isolationist fools; nationalists, conservatives and Luddites. They are the opponents of progressive thinking, corporate freedom and change. It is time they are silenced once and for all. This charade, this 'nation' has far outlived its purpose, it is time we acknowledge what this place is truly called. We are Rasthorians and this 'nation' IS Rathor International."
Pundits are stunned by this sudden change in name, but it should hardily be surprising to anyone. According to recent polls following the president's speech, the vast majority agree that, for all practical purposes, the nation of Rea Dan has been supplanted by their CEO's company.
Response from the international community seems as confused and stunned by this revelation as it is from 'readanian' pundits. The president addressed this as well: "I realize that there are many nations out there that had dealings with the nation of Rea Dan, much as they do with my corporation, however, as much as I grieve to say it, consider all associations with that former nation defunct. It has ceased to exist for all practical purposes, and was long overdue the grave I have thrown it into. I kindly suggest those wishing to engage diplomatically with Rasthor International to contact our Foreign Affairs Department via telegraph, e-mail or 'snail' mail. I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding if we do not immediately respond, this will be a most difficult transition even if things go smoothly."
