Vienna, Austrian Empire

September 16th, 1984

A formal surrender document was signed today by the representatives of the defeated nations of Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and the Tyrol. The treaty formally recognized Austrian control over those lands, a recognition that Austria under its dictator General Franz Stoeber has fought for nine months for.

The conflict began in January with the Austrian invasion of Yugoslavia. The Austrian Volkswehr was next turned against Czechoslovakia, which fell quickly as well, with most of the Czech army surrendering a few days after they were encircled by the Austrian forces.

By three months into the conflict, Zagreb had fallen to Austrian forces. German-speaking inhabitants of the Tyrol also voted overwhelmingly in favor of annexation, and their declaration was supported by a handful of Austrian units.

By five months into the wars, all but two areas remained: Hungary and the Serbian rump of what was once Yugoslavia. The first strike went up against Hungary. Two months later, Budapest was occupied, and the last Hungarian People's Army units in the field were surrendering.

The eighth month was spent by Yugoslavia preparing for the onslaught, while the Volkswehr recuperated its losses, resupplied, and integrated recruits from conquered territories into their units. On the 18th of August, Austrian forces invaded Yugoslavia, and by the 4th of September, the Yugoslav army had been effectively dismembered.

The new treaty effectively places the conquered territories under Austrian control. General Stoeber was pleased to announce at the signing that "This is the dawn of a new empire! One under Austrian control! One that will not be felled as easily as the one of our predecessors!"
