Official Announcement of the Nivensky-Ringworld Foundation

Considering the sad situation in the colonies regarding the lack of variety with huntable species, we in the Foundation would like to go out to the world with a new request, necessary for the continued improvement of the lifestyles of Allanean settlers everywhere.

This time, we do not want your planets. Well, we do want your planets, but what we want right now are your species. Your three-eared rabbits. Your flying monkeys. Your flightless eagles. Whichever. Give them to us, and we will incorporate them into the ecosystem of various worlds, especially where they are a huntable species.

Even if the species is currently endangered on its homeworld, we will make an effort to introduce it to the wild, and make sure they spread far and wide.

We will pay only negligible sums for genetic samples (since it's all too easy to procure a feather), but we will reward handsomely anyone that provides us an existing genetically-self-sustaining population (so if it's, say, a gravitic-propelled goose, we want a flock).

Please do not apply if the species in question is sapient. We are not Immigration Control.
That is all.

May God Bless Allanea.

<While in the typical case we'd hate that people are looking for animals just to kill them we find that we may be able to help you procure a new species that would be very huntable. Respond to this if you wish to know more about this species. We would accually be happy to give you live samples for the right amount of coin. Be warned though, this particular animal was bred specifically for war and will be hunted/handled at the risk of the hunter/handler.>

<This is the research counsil responding to your message and following up on the message of our supervisors. The animal we'd be willing to send to you has already proved itself to be very ellusive and dangerous in combat. We are hapy to send a 'sample pack' to you, by which we mean a litteral pack of these beasts, so that you can truly se ewhat they are. we must warn you that due to their purpose being for war, there are a few things that you must know about. For starters, they can and will breed assexually, and they will do this quickly. In approx two hours, fifteen newborns can be brought into the world. In three monthes, those newborn hit full maturaty. When these creatures die, their bodies will rot quickly, normal methods of preservation only slows this process by roughly 30%. They are approx 2 meters (6 feet) in length and stand one meter (3 feet) tall. They are extremely carnivorous so please take caution. However, they are also very loyal creatures, if tamed, which can be a headache if one has not been taught the proper methods, they will defend their owners from anything even at the cost of their own life.>

<We will send more information if you need it, mind you these are four-legged creatures. They have relatively well armored hides that will protect them from most bladed weapons but not projectiles. They also are genetically designed to adapt to their surrondings (some have developed camouflage abilities) and they possess a very fast running speed. More specifics to come.>

UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF BURTILANA

Dear Nivensky-Ringworld Foundation

We offer to you our national animal, the Spotted Burt, which we find ourselves to be very huntable, it is the result of random mating during biological weapons tests in 1925, as far as we are aware, several male foxes mated with female sheep, giving basically a large woolly fox.
It is white with orangey/brown spots on it, generally they avoid humans, but I will let you to discover how best to hunt them. Their natural habitat is in cool woodland areas, they also taste rather good and make good coats too.
we offer 1000 of these strange, but cute creatures, 500male/500female, how much would you be looking to pay for these?

Greetings.

Prior to the successful and complete Mykofication of Planet Mykonia, grid reference 234-195-019, a significant and diverse biosphere existed there. In the interests of posterity the Unity preserved a comprehensive genetic database of all known organic species of the planet in our collective memory for the purpose of potential resurrection and exhibition in future cycles.

We have attached this database in a standard Mykonian executable file pre-dating the demise of the organic Mykonian species, which we believe was sufficiently commonplace in galactic history for you to easily adapt to your own computer systems. We ask for no remunerations in exchange and freely offer this database for your exclusive utilisation.

We wish you well in your endeavour. Whatever that endeavour might be.

Message from Avshalom Gutani to the Minister of Culture of the USSB

Dear Mr. Frusciante!

I find the Spotted Burt adorable, and the appropriate amount of money will be transferred to you upon the arrival of the Burts soon enough. We will begin with a temporary breeding program on our world of Harmodius, where we will breed the Burts until they're possible to put into the wild. Do I understand correctly that this animal is a predator? Or do they inherit the grass-eating affinities of the regular sheep?

Avshalom Gutani,
Nivenski Foundation Officer for Public Relations

Message from Avshalom Gutani to Henry Stanley at Khalomanjaro Ranch in Tanara

While we understand that everything is dangerous, we would like to acquire samples all four species, for breeding and study at our Biological research facility on Akela, in the Kipling system. This will allow us to both get the species to proper numbers, and to study them before releasing into the wild. We would also would like to know what, and how often, do they eat – naturally, meat, but what kind and how often?

Send them over. We'll pay well and do something useful with them.

We have recently heard of your desire to aquire other nations rare and huntable creatures. It is with great joy that we are able to offer you the entirity of the remaining wild population of the Belschaft Greater Crested Hawk, about 400 by our last count. We don't want them, you can have them. The damn things are bloody massive, with a wingspan of about 10 metres for the adult males, and have a habit of eating people, livestock and in one strange case a moped. Don't ask.

We were going to kill them, but some animal rights protestors objected, and we were about to shoot them when some some animal rights protestors rights protestors turned up, and it just got complicated. Now their breeding again. If you want them just say so, and bring some bloody big nets.

High orbit, above Harmodius

The interstellar gate blinked to life as the small freighter burst through, and began to move towards the planet, maneuvering engines blazing as it fought against its own weight and inertia. It carried the Spotted Burts to their first breeding grounds – a small island in the southern ocean of Harmodius. Upon that island, they would reproduce for the next few decades.

Upon the island, a mimic of the Aristogeitonian eco-system, with its lack of large predators and overabundance of small 'mammals' has been set up for them. When they bred sufficiently, they would be released into the wild on Aristogeiton, and possibly on Harmodius itself.

The 300 Belschaft Greater Crested Hawks would be relocated to the planet as well, to a separate island, where biologists would take care of them until the Burts bred enough to provide prey for them. Interestingly, the Foundation had been already sued (and settled out of court) with a biologist who broke his arm while dealing with the animals, and the family of another who has been eaten. It remained contentious whether introducing these to the wild was even a good idea.

Orbit of Akela

In general, the program seemed to be turning out strangely. The donations so far seemed to focus on predators, and quite interesting ones as well. Rumour had it that a Marsh Vroll had escaped into the jungles of Akela as the animals were being off-loaded. The Foundation neither confirmed nor denied this, but the fact was that a guard was reported dead in an 'industrial accident', and his ashes were shipped to Earth in a small package.

NRF

"What we need is something that's not a predator… something like a triceratops, perhaps." – mused Kevin Nivensky as he read the dispatches. – "I mean, look at this. These Greywatch bastards have actually sent us a bioweapon. That's what these things have been designed as, a weapon."

Georgi Bershadski shook his head, his thick Russian accent distorting every word he said. "Look, I un-der-stand zat some of ze animals arr… in-app-rop-riate. But ze settler populations vill be smoll. Zere vill be not enough two-legged predators in most places to enshure ecological balance. Zen ze kherbivores vill oll die. Zis is not good'.

Kevin nodded. "Yes, I understand we need large predators other than humans… I just wish they weren't this… aggressive. By the way, how are the Hellhounds going?"

"They're in a gated facility on Perfection. Barely anyone lives there anyhow. The only thing is, they're breeding like god knows what. We're controlling their population somewhat by limiting food, and of course, shooting the extra bastards, but they're angry and persistent. We may or may not need to kill them off…"

"Wait for it. See how it works out."

"Very well."

"Mail the Tanarans too, ask if they have some herbivores for us. Or perhaps we'll just introduce earth herbivores into the mix… tell me, what's the cost of a Barasingha on a the global market?"

The Russian nodded as his biocomputer implant ran a Wikipedia search.

"Four thousand. With transport and reintroduction cost, it'll be five or six."

"So, how long would it take us to create a population of, say, six million of them for Aristogeiton, Elsinore, and Harmodius? And what's the cost estimate for that?"

"Ninety billion."

"Have that done. We'll be saving a rare species, too. Everybody is happy. Oh. And we must introduce the prairie dog on every planet where it is possible. Get working on it. And don't forget to talk to the Tanarans.

"Yes, Sir."

"I wonder why they want these animals."

Jerrun was thinking out loud rather than asking for anybody's opinion. He wasn't quite sure why anybody would want to populate their planets with 'huntable species'. To his mind, such an action was more akin to deliberately littering one's own house. It just made little sense. But whether he was searching for an opinion or not, someone gave him one regardless.

"Sport," Illus Fenarin offered. Most turians served in the armed forces from the age of 15, but most tended to serve their time and then move on to other forms of state service. Illus, the Officer of War for the Hierarchy government, had remained in the army for his whole life, and it tended to show in his thinking - everything tends to have something to do with blood or explosions, so far as he was concerned.

"Are you suggesting that they would willingly fill their planets with dangerous animals just so that they can kill them all off?" Jerrun exclaimed. "I have never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life."

"If the prey is adaptable enough, it would probably be good fun," Illus shrugged. "Besides, it's not like they're going to be flooding our planets with them. What does it matter to you?"

"It doesn't, it's just... strange, that's all."

Silence set in, as there wasn't really any answer to that. The three turians in the room sat around the holographic monitor reading the Allanean message that had been sent across galaxies, pondering if there was any call to do anything about it. While Jerrun couldn't see any point to any of this - the request, nor them reading it - the other two Hierarchy officers saw opportunities.

"What manner of creatures shall we offer them then?" Illus asked the other two.

"Why are we wasting our time with this?" Jerrun spluttered after a short pause. "Surely there are much more pressing matters to attend to?"

"Because, Jerrun," the Hierarch spoke up for the first time. "It is an opportunity. Everything is an opportunity."

"The Unification War has left our numbers diminished and our resources even sparser still," Illus told him.

"You shall send the offer, Jerrun," the Hierarch said, nodding his head slightly. "In return you shall request ships. Not too many. Perhaps, two or three freighters. Nothing too ostentatious."

"Why not ask for a warship or two?" Illus turned to look at the Hierarch again. "A couple of frigates would greatly bolster our naval forces."

"Warships will fill our short-term needs," the Hierarch explained. "Freighters will benefit our long-term recovery. We shall finally be able to restart shipments from our mines and excavations on Therum. This will bring our shipyards back to life again. We can then build our own frigates."

"I suppose so," Illus nodded.

"Ensure the response is despatched as soon as possible, Jerrun," the Hierarch nodded to the younger officer.

Jerrun nodded and motioned to stand up and return to his office, but sat back down again before he even got half-way. "What animals should I offer then?"

"Indulge yourself," the Hierarch said somewhat rhetorically. That wasn't much help. "Something common enough to be spared, rather than something endangered already."

"It is just a suggestion, but I imagine that these 'Allaneans' are burgeoning with large, ferocious predators by now," Illus said thoughtfully. "I know that's what I'd offer them. So maybe something smaller, but faster - something harder to shoot, but still dangerous enough to pose a challenge. Maybe a verak?"

"Veraks are docile creatures," the Hierarch sighed.

"Not if you piss them off," Illus retorted. "Those claws are sharp, trust me. And they run so fast you'd think they'd been chucked out of a mass relay."

"Good idea," Jerrun nodded. "I'll get on it now."

Official Communiqué from the Office of the Hierarch

While something of a peculiar request, we feel that we can offer your company something to suit your requirements. Palaven is home to a multitude of fauna, some of which is unique to this world.

The verak is a two-legged, herbivorous animal of avian descent, although it is flightless and lost its feathers long ago in its evolution. While normally docile the verak is capable of sprinting in excess of fifty of your miles per hour and when angered can strike out with its particularly vicious claws on its hind legs. Like many of the species of Palaven it has developed an unusually high metallic content in its skin - which, although protecting it from the elevated radiation levels of our world, does not exactly defend against accelerated mass or particle weapons.

This animal is quite commonplace in the northern plains of Dupaca county, and we can essentially procure as many of the animals as you may require, within reason. If you would like an alternative species however, I am sure if you offer your specifications we will be able to find something to accommodate your needs.

In exchange, the Hierarchy government has asked me to enquire as to whether your company possesses - or knows of where to acquire - any starships which may be offered in trade. Particularly we desire medium and large cargo ships. They do not necessarily have to be new, although they should be relatively serviceable. We shall leave the number of such ships open to yourselves, though two or three large freighters would be most helpful to our cause dependant upon how many of the animals you desire.

Why, this is is simply perfect!

We would like to provide you with ninety billion dollars in various freighters, and further ninety billion dollars in humanitarian aid money, in exchange for 100,000 of these nice animals. They will provide for a food niche for the various large predators we have milling around in our stocks, and of course, they can be also farmed or hunted by Allaneans.

When Jerrun stepped into the Hierarch's private office, a fairly sparse metal room with a small window behind the computer desk providing only a small amount of light, we noticed that Illus was still in there from their last meeting. He knew that the two had been friends even before achieving positions within the government, but what they found to talk about for so many hours was beyond Jerrun.

As the door swept shut behind him the Hierarch motioned for him to take a seat, without saying a word. Illus greeted him with a respectful nod as he took a seat next to him. The black and white tribal tattoos across his long face should have been unnerving to Jerrun, casting a harsh pattern and representing an unpleasant history, but despite the historical animosity between their respective lineages Jerrun had never paid much head to where a man had come from, but instead where he was going. He found it quite easy to respect Illus, in spite of his rather gung-ho attitude towards everything. His principles were honourable and uncompromising, an example to turians - and others - everywhere.

"How can I help you, Jerrun?" the Hierarch enquired as he finished typing something.

"The Allaneans have responded to our offer," Jerrun said, pulling out a small datachip. The optical storage devices varied in size, and most turian computers had slots that accepted all of the common sizes, but this was just a small capacity chip for low size files and was somewhat fiddly to hold. "I think it should be satisfying."

"Already? It would appear these Allaneans are quite efficient, disciplined. We might get along well with them one day." Obligingly the Hierarch took the chip from his fingers and fumbled around trying to plug it into the port on the side of his terminal. Once it was in he accessed the relevant file and brought it up on his holographic display. His brows raised slightly when he read the contents of their response.

"This is a most generous offer," the Hierarch said after a pause. He placed his fingertips together and perched his chin on top of them thoughtfully. "I shall need to have Hegrin double-check the value of dollars, but from my last recollection this should be most helpful."

"I take it that means you'd like me to send a grateful response back to them?" Jerrun asked.

"No," the Hierarch shook his head after taking a moment to think. "I shall handle the response. You have performed a most admirable task, Jerrun. Leave this with me."

"Thank you, Hierarch," Jerrun nodded, gave a courteous glance to Illus, and left the office. In the present climate, the Officer for Natural Affairs rarely got any important duties, and praise was even rarer still, so he took all he could get.

Official Communiqué from the Office of the Hierarch

Greetings.

I write to you in regards to the offer that one of my Officers made to your company a short while ago, and your response to that offer.

Your offer was most generous, and shall help us greatly with the task of recovering from certain economical and infrastructural difficulties. You have my thanks, and that of the turian people.

In regards to the verak, while we are unsure as to your exact physiology, nor the physiologies of any of the predators who may try to consume them, the verak is certainly edible. Though not quite on the top of my own personal menu, they are apparently quite nutritious. Their own diet is also quite adaptable, and I do not imagine they will have too much difficulty adjusting to their new environments.

Our Officer of Natural Affairs shall undoubtedly be rounding up a veritable legion of wardens to collect the number you require in the immediate future. The animals shall be despatched in groups of a thousand as and when they are caught to a destination of your choice - we have only one small cargo ship available for the task at present. I will ensure that the wardens attempt to capture a roughly equal number of each gender to aid in building their population.

If you desire any further specimens of wildlife from Palaven or any of the other worlds in Hierarchy territory, please feel free to contact Jerrus Fristoken and he shall endeavour to accommodate your requests.

With honour and gratitude,

Kevin Nivensky was wearing a simple outfit – a set of slightly oversized pants equipped with a plethora of pockets, and a faded shirt with the remains for an old joke barely legible on the back.

He was lying on a mat on the dry desert ground, somewhere on the planet of New Nashua. Before him was a custom sniper rifle, an ancient SSG-20 20mm from Aequatio. And somewhere, at about eight hundred meters' distance, was a prairie dog, standing on its hind legs, sniffing at the wind. It had not the slightest clue what was coming.

The businessman's finger traveled slowly and gently back, pulling carefully upon the custom, two-stage trigger.

It broke crisp and clean, though Nivensky could not feel it over the massive recoil of the weapon – for all intents and purposes, a light cannon rather than a rifle.

The projectile – a heavy tungsten 'arrow' – shed it's 20mm plastic casing as it exited the barrel, traveling at supersonic velocity towards the prairie dog.

The animal did not get to hear the gun shot.

Before the roar of the rifle's report arrived, the miniature arrow smacked the prairie dog in its upper body, throwing it a full ten meters even as its body tore with a sound like that of a paper bag bursting.

Kevin grinned with satisfaction, whispering: "Fifty-six."

"Excuse me, Sir?"

The electronic hardware in Kevin's ears did its job perfectly, editing out or weakening the high-decibel rifle fire, but enhancing the sounds of voices. Such as the voice of his servant standing behind him.

"Yes, Fedor?" – he replied, even as he fed a giant 20mm magazine into the rifle.

"We have a new message from the Turian Hierarchy."

"Damn. Well, go and tell the kitchen to roast me a pig. I'll be with them as soon as I'm done here. I want to get to sixty first, and work second."

Northern Rangeria

To the Nivensky-Ringworld Corporation,

Gentlemen, we have studied your proposal with great interest, and I believe there are certain species that the Principality of Northern Rangeria may be able to donate for your consideration.

As our first and prime candidate, we have the crazy monkey cat (http://www.codeman.fi/photo/ilves.jpg), also known simply as the monkey cat or Rangerian lynx. This small predator is greatly similar to a typical lynx or bobcat, except it is lither and longer-limbed. We have a stable population of this animal here in the Northlands of Rangeria, and we believe we can donate up to a hundred breeding pairs.

From our southern neighbour, the Empire of Greater Rangeria, we have also received a migratory population of delta boars (http://www.cygnnet.jkl.fi/koulut/viitaniemi/virtuaalilajisto/elaimet/nisak/villisika2.JPG), a small porcine animal that thrives on wetlands and other suitably watery areas. They are to our knowledge practically extinct in Greater Rangeria, so any effort to preserve this majestic animal is certainly welcomed.

As an example of megafauna, we have the giraffrino (http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/beasts/photo/gallery/indriocotherium_hzoom.jpg), which is a native species on one of our colony worlds, Veritas Tertius (also known as Steiner's World). To the knowledge of our xenobiologists, the giraffrino fills the ecological slot of a large mammalian herbivore in a savannah-like environment, and would also serve as a suitable animal of prey for larger predators. The species is migratory, so they require a great deal of roaming space.

If any of these species fills a niche you are needing, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Official NRF Response:

The giraffrino and the delta boars interest us primarily, but these monkey cats are intriguins as well.
Given that Allanea's territory stretch for over sixty habitable planets, we believe we can accommodate all these species in terms of space.

Great Scythe Prairie, Harmodius

"Go, boy, go!” - Trevor Allworthy shouted, waving at his hunting dog. - “Go get him, Snatcher! Get him!”

Snatcher was not really a hunting dog in a normal sense of the term – he was actually a trained Hellhound, one of the first to get out of the Parasol Corporation's experimental labs – and given the Allanean fashion for extreme overkill, it was not really surprising they'd use the Hellhounds for some really insane hunting. Naturally, 'overkill' was a word not in the Allanean dictionary.

Mind, for the animal in question, the use of Hellhounds was not such of an overkill as one might think.

It was a MassPwnagian Triceratops, exported off-planet by some adventurous Allaneans. The Foundation had disapproved of such beasts, and this was the reason – one of them had escaped from the confineds of its hunting farm ten days ago, having trampled it's owner to death. Now, this was the option.

Snatcher sped towards the gigantic scaled body, barking and roaring with anger, four other Hellhounds following in his steps.

The triceratops' head moved once, the horns capturing Snatcher and throwing him a dozen meters in the air, like a eock from a trebuchet, his legs and tail flailing in the air and fell, with an audible crunching noise. But the other Hellhounds latched on, hard, on the sagging, giant belly of the monster.

The dino fell, either deliberately or simply from pain, crushing yet another Hellhound under it's oversized belly. It moved to get up – but at this time precisely, Allworthy dropped to one knee, raising a lasgun at the enormous beast and pulling the trigger.

The weapon flashed several times, leaving round, black holes on the dinosaur's belly, trough which blood poured freely.

Another Hellhound got into the path of the dinosaur's twitching leg and was sent sailing through the air, his last flight longer and even more spectacular than Snatcher's, except with the added 'luck' of plowing into the ground snout-first.

"Damn.” - Trevor shifted his aim and fired another burst at the throat of the 'trick'. This time, he had hit a blood vessel of some kind – blood fountained from the neck of the saurine giant, and the monster calmed down forever.

Afterwards, Trevor buried the 'Hounds' in a neat row in front of his house, and mounted the head of the triceratops as a trophy. In his review to Track and Beamgun he commended the Hellhounds for their speed, strength, and obedience while trained, but returned to hunting without dogs thereafter. There were, however, many hunters and companies that purchase Hellhounds, especially 'neutered' ones that could not breed. An obscure company known as Parasol Corporation dealt with all breeding and training of the hounds.

Find included one data chip each detailing all known data of the previously purchased species.
Also understand you desire herbivores. We have some very interesting herbivores/ non predators -The Kaffemon (http://www.atddm.com/am5.jpg) - warning - unsafe about grain productiing regions - very fast breeding, very fast period, aggressively invasive. Hard to kill- the Drakocorn (http://www.atddm.com/am6.jpg) Makes a lovely riding mount and can fly carrying up to five hundred pounds - very agile in the air very elegant ( but priced accordingly) -the Hawkeries (http://www.atddm.com/am7.jpg) very intellegent and make excellent pets - nut and seed eaters, arborial and prefer temperate climates - Thunderraffes (http://www.atddm.com/am8.jpg) the meat is very edible and nutritious, very lean - the [Noncrested Quarilaroo (http://www.atddm.com/am9.jpg)

Let me know if you are interested in any of these.

OOC:

Tanara, your links lead into nowhere.

Also, I have begun work on working those animals into my wiki.

Here, people:

Athens system (http://wiki.esusalliance.co.uk/index.php?title=Athens) will house most of the stuff I've been kindly given.

Darwin (http://wiki.esusalliance.co.uk/index.php?title=Darwin) has a population of Daragonnes now.

Official NRF reply:

We desire samples of all these species.

The Hawkeries will immediately be introduced into the wild on Akela and several other Allanean worlds. So will the noncrested Quarilaroo (is there a 'crested' Quarilaroo?)

Drakocorns will be bred as mounts.

Kaffemon will be studied further.

Thank you.

System MW-C-778 (Dominion Designation)
Outer limits of Allanean controlled space

Where once was nothing, now there was something.

A tiny probe, a little larger than your standard fighter, emerged out of the writhing vortex of universal paradox that was Slipspace and began broadcasting on all frequencies in Galstandard.

<\ \>P-8716#2.RECORD>> SYSTEM.LOCAL.ALL
<\ THE FOLLOWING IS AN OFFICIAL TRANSMISSION.
<\ TRANSMISSION BEGINS.

To Whom it may concern,
Though we can only assume it was unintentional, we have received your statement regarding the hunting of species not indigenous to your own territory. In fact, through no fault of your own we must assume, the initial transmission flooded the CivNet on two Dominion worlds for no less than 1/25th of a rotational cycle. Regardless, while it is not typically the policy of either the Kiith Federation nor the Asrengarde Hegemony to cater to foreign non-officials, we believe we can make an exception.

Kiith Soban recently set up a nature preserve specifically for the skaal species (see attached: Skaal.dat) on the planet Bellerophon in the Sikh-tel system (Milky Way). Unfortunately, the skaal adapted too quickly to the favorable conditions on Bellerophon, and are quickly growing beyond preserve control. As the skaal is typically considered an undesirable species and was only to be preserved for research purposes, it is the position of the Daiimid that the skaal be removed from Bellerophon in its wild state and any further research to be conducted on cryogenic specimens.

To meet this end, rather than an orbital sterilization of the preserve, the military is willing to allow a limited number of foreign vessels to land on Bellerophon soil for the purposes of extracting as many skaal as are desired. If interested, please transmit a reply on the same frequency to this probe along with IFF signiatures of all vessels that will be taking part in the extraction.

Yours truly,
Phia-sa Terrance Hood Nabaal
Commanding Officer, Milky Way

The skaal is a deadly predator hailing from the equatorial desert of Kush. They were once feared by all kiith, and greatly hindered transport of goods across the equator until it was deliberately hunted to the edge of extinction. Few preserves of the original skaal stock exist. However, the skaal has proved very adaptable to new environments, as its multiple stomaches each contain an acidic compound strong enough to dissolve most metals.

Skaal-Tel
The male of the species, the "Skaal-Tel", is a vicious clawed hunter with thickly armored scales and poison sacks capable of blinding or killing unwary opponents at over half a klom distance. Though nearly ten times the mass of an average humanoid, it is still able to keep maintain pace with an unaugmented human at full sprint. When a pair of skaal mate, the skaal-tel will hunt for the mate and cubs. It is capable of dragging large prey over a hundred kloms to its den.

Skaal-Fal
The female of the species, the "Skaal-Fa", is smaller than the skaal-tel. It is most vulnerable during the breeding cycle, during which it remains in its burrowed den while the male hunts for it and its cubs. However, the skaal-fa sports a long tail covered by hardened spines. It is capable of flinging these spines at an attacker with deadly force from the safety of its lair.
